Authentic delicious Hong Kong style casual dishes and breakfast. This shop is related to the nearby banquet restaurant but serves up different dishes 🤩 Clay pot rice is especially will made while staff routinely separates the Rice and ingredients on the table for easy access. Excellent service👍. Excellent flavors and values. Highly highly recommends. Also had breakfast combo with milk tea and bolo bun with a large dish of your choice. Very very yummy and tasty milk tea 👍. Thanks 🙏
Fresh authentic Cantonese food. Always come back to here when we crave BBQ pork, porridge, traditional Cantonese rice dishes. Affordable, but that would mean service would take some time. I would call at least 45 minutes in advance to order takeout because it can get busy sometimes. They have fresh fish on the menu even, and weekday specials like pineapple buns. Great spot for gluten free and dairy free options with all the porridge and rice dishes.
I came here on a lark and I'm glad I did. For some reason, all of a sudden upon reading the menu, I had a hankering for their Roast Duck. Maybe it was the aroma or whatever, it's what I ordered. When my order came, it was visually delightful and spot on if it's curb appeal you're looking for. The lunch special was generous and I enjoyed every bite of the meal. And not to be stereotypical, I also noticed that as the patrons drifted in, they were all Asians, so there must be some genuine authenticity to their food. I give these folks a thumbs up!
We have dined here several times, so we already tried out many different dishes. This place has authentic HK cuisine. The restaurant is medium size. They only have limited indoor seatings, so sometimes the wait times could take rather long, especially during meal times as this restaurant tends to get very crowded. All tables were full and there still many people waiting. The staff are quick, but they’re heavily understaffed. There are times it gots too busy that one staff had to serve more tables than they could handle. The food was really good. We like all the dishes, but the one we prefer most is their rice in clay pot. Those were so tasty, and because of the heat of the clay pot, there’s always crunchy rice at the bottom. That tasted incredible. The bonus is they usually have free desserts at the end of the meal to every customers, but that’s not an official thing. Sometimes, I found out that they didn’t serve dessert. Either they ran out of dessert or they just didn’t feel like it that day. This restaurant also serve HK milk tea, while the one on Ralston Ave doesn’t, even though they are the same chain.
Insane!!! Everything here is great, totally blew me away. Unassuming place with lackluster Yelp reviews, but don’t be fooled. Maybe they’re trying to keep it a secret? Loved the purple yam bun the most, but every single noodle dish, scallion pancake, bun was an all-star. Best dim sum I’ve had in the Bay Area so far. 5 stars!!!
So pleasantly surprised by the Cantonese food in this restaurant!! Some of the best I've had in a long time since I moved to the area from NYC. The minced pork with salty fish and egg tasted authentic, the mushroom and chicken clay pot rice was fantastic (perfect crispy rice in the bottom!!) And the red dragon fish was fresh and steamed well. The bbq and chicken meats were also well seasoned and cooked. I'll definitely come back!!
This is a traditional Cantonese restaurant. My favorite dish is their deep fry flounder. Most of their food are very authentic Cantonese taste. Best of all their portion are larger than other restaurant nearby. During the holidays, they are always packed with people. So either make a reservation for a large group, or go there before 5 pm dinner or after 7 pm.
We met friends and 6 of us shared family style meal. My favorites were fried rice with salted fish and chicken, Buddha's delight and combination chow mein. The other items were fine but I like more sauce to noodles especially chow fun. Service was nice and efficient. The pork belly took a while to cook, I think I like a thinner cut but that is my preference. It was flavorful and had nice texture.
Dinner for four. Place was almost full with one big group celebrating a birthday. Food was freshly cooked and served fast. We had chow mein, steak with vegetables, chicken & vegetables, soup & 2 bowls of steamed rice. Soup was hot and delicious with a little soy sauce. All the others wwre good, we had plenty to take home. Very good and recommended.
They have several locations; this one only has 2 servers. Food is quite authentic; portions are large and very affordable; almost every item is about $14 or so. But they charge $2.50 for a small bowl of rice. Customer service is not practiced here and you have to flag them for everything. They're not like your usual waiters. Nice bright, clean interior. If only they could make customers feel more welcomed...
Tuesday night and it’s easy to get a large table. Service was great. Most of the food was good. We ordered too many soup noodles. They are pretty big. The salt and pepper items are usually our favorite but the fish wasn’t good. We probably took what’s left in the photo home. It didn’t have much taste. The salt and pepper tofu was great and was gone fast. The chicken wings were good too. Congee and Chinese donut are the main reasons we came here and those were good too. Dessert was red bean but since only one of us had that, they offered a plate of oranges that were really good. Service was good here. They checked on us multiple times. We will come back. Parking in-front is easy not like going to downtown San Mateo.
We went to Cheung hing as it was local and sold duck. Overall, the service was good, The staff were quick with our order and polite. The restraunt was clean and the food (especially the duck and tofu) and Hong Kong tea was good. I didn't give 5 stars as the beef curry we ordered was not great. Overall we will definitely go back but just not order curry again.
Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: Standard fare. The extended review... Food: 3/5 - Got a mix of veggies, meat, and carbs for the table. Taste and portion size were standard fare. Service: 3/5 - Standard Chinese service. Ambiance: 3/5 - Not exactly hole in the wall but close. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Pretty standard.
Busy Chinese Resto on a Saturday afternoon. Spacious dining area. We arrived just before the lunch crowd hit. Ordered the House combination crispy noodles and the Roasted pork appetizer. The roasted pork was more fat than meat and slightly under cooked. 2/5 Crispy combo noodles were pretty good but sloppy towards the bottom because they were over dressed in sauce. 3/5 Unfortunately, we will probably not return here ever again unless they offered half off dishes because in my opinion, that's what they were worth. Yikes. Service was okay though. 1 appetizer & 1 main dish $24
This place is good for food quality and reasonable price, but there’s literally no service. Today I was even told by a waitress that we “need to be more organized” just because she got no convenient space to serve the dish with the table full of dishes and bowls. I would recommend order takeout or delivery from this place but not a good experience dining in.
We are Latinos, and although the food is good, the waitresses are racist. I had heard that they don't give good service to people with Latino features, and it's true. We've eaten at this restaurant a couple of times, but this past Saturday was the last. They abused their power by adding a high percentage to the tip on the bill, even though tipping is optional. Someday they'll face a lawsuit for racism.
Incredibly rude customer service and garbage management. We made Togo order online, after waited in the restaurant for 30min they told us the order is cancelled and let us contact the platform for a refund. The waiter is incredibly rude, he ignore us when we were asking for eta as it’s already past the pickup time, and after 30min we got notified that our order has been cancelled and let us leave. How ridiculous. Has been in bay for 7 years, first time seen something like this. They have no respect to the customer nor the business they are running.
One of the worst restaurants i visited during my 15 year stay at Bay area. Once i was here and asked for no meat or eggs in my food. The server brought food clearly with eggs and when asked about it, she just took away the plate and asked me to leave. Felt like a racist bunch who think people are lucky to eat the food they provide. Would never visit this place and suggest folks to be careful for their health, as they dont believe in following dietary instructions.
I ordered takeout and waited for 20 minutes. When I went to politely ask about the estimated time for my order, I was told in an impatient tone that they didn’t know and was blamed for not waiting for my turn instead of approaching them. All I asked for was an estimated time, but I was treated dismissively. This is not how customers should be treated. I’ve been to many busy Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area and this is the worst experience I have ever had. I won’t be spending any more money here.
