Delicious. Will definitely go again!
Great food and fun dog friendly vibe.
Get the banana bread french toast!! And wash it down with some POG juice!
Fantastic breakfast and great service.
Seemed understaffed and over priced but I guess that's today's world.
Great food, family and dog friendly
Awesome vibe... awesome service... awesome food
Great spot
Best oatmeal I've had.
sweet,good place🏝and Delicious.
Cool island vibe with an even more interesting twist of food. Has a little something for everyone. And if you happen to want just coffee in the morning, they have a walk up window to skip the wait!
Great breakfast spot. Hubby had the banana bread French toast it was yummy 🤤 the waitress was very sweet & kind definitely we will be coming back.
This is probably my favorite place to get breakfast. The food is soooooo good. Biscuits and gravy here is the perfect. So much good food.
Great place for some delicious Hawaiian delights!! I love OB restaurants with their dog friendly atmosphere and wonderful food options, this is definitely one of the best!!!
Home cooking, great quality of food. I’ve been here a few times and love it every time. It’s a must for breakfast in SD.
Excellent breakfast with an island twist. Highly recommend the Loco Moco... Volcano style, of course. And a side of Spam sticks!!!
Great breakfast. I enjoyed the Hawaiian Breakfast... Portuguese Sausage, Rice, and eggs with a Hawaiian salsa.
The barista waitress was an amazing person who made us feel comfortable and happy. Also, nice stickers! Thank you!
Everything we got here was absolutely delicious!
Wonderful food, great service! Love the musabi!!!
A hidden gem. Please do yourself a favor and order the banana bread french toast. It's SO good.
Nice selection, modest yet filling portions, kind service, and just a great little spot!
Great food and chill vibes banana bread french toast and Maui wowi pancakes are delicious
10 out of 10 all around, food and service is excellent. Very dog friendly.
Amazing coffee and food, the banana bread french toast was great.
Came for breakfast. Our waitress was very friendly and the food was excellent.
Awesome service on a Sunday morning. Veggie breakfast burrito was really tasty
Relaxing atmosphere. Amazing food and great customer service!! Highly recommend!
Kick ass happy hour, all drafts are $5 and there is a good selection to choose from. They also have a few mixed drink specials for $10. They have some happy hour food specials, this time I had the guacamole and it was delicious. I definitely will return, working from the window bench table while having a drink and a snack is the perfect way to wrap up the business day!
A relaxing little spot for breakfast or lunch. We went twice this past week while visiting San Diego. The lanai is dog-friendly. My wife adored the crab melt so much she ordered it both times. She loves her affogato too. The Banana bread french toast is delicious, as is their traditional french toast. The fried potatoes with their breakfast plates are awesome. Shout-out to Giselle (with a hard G) who waited on us both times. She's a lovely waitress and made a point of befriending the dogs who visited. Thank you Giselle for being a part of our lovely Vacation
Chill music was perfect, not too loud and just the right tune to feel free. The food is delicious, fresh and hot! It's a reasonable price. The drinks are bomb as well. This is probably the best place we've ate thus far on our vacation. It beats all the expensive places we've been. A must try place for sure.
We had such an expected and delightful brunch at this wonderful restaurant. Gluten free french toast, eggs, veggies galore. The food was wonderful, the staff were friendly. They are so dog friendly that they have a dog menu, dog water bowls at each table and funny dog rules. We were in the area and stopped in for brunch only to discover that we now want to be regulars. Delicious!
Stopped by for breakfast. Young lady was very friendly. Had 3 egg omelet with canadian bacon and bacon. Omelet stuffed with meat. All the food tasted great. Recommend having breakfast here.
We had breakfast there. I had the Hawaiian bowl (Portuguese sausage with rice and eggs) and my girlfriend had the veggie bowl. The food was great, the service was friendly and fast and we also had beer and a mimosa (which was huge and delicious). Overall, if you're at Ocean Beach and you're hungry - you should stop by and enjoy a great breakfast.
Excellent island breakfast. The Hawaiian breakfast bowl with a side of SPAM and a slice of banana bread was just what the doctor ordered after a Saturday night out. The staff were very friendly and attentive. This place will be a go-to spot whenever I'm in San Diego.
Good quality food. I love getting the Kalua Pork Benedict with gravy instead of hollandaise sauce. They have a PET BOWL for dogs that is really fun and affordable if you bring a four legged family member. The staff here is great. Megan is a charming waitress that adds some wit to your meal!
We loved this quaint little spot. I went there with my family and Maui wowi pancakes and banana bread French toast hit the spot for the girls! My husband and I split the Hawaiian breakfast bowl with rice, Portuguese sausage, salsa and egg. Yum! Great prices and service too.
Very delicious breakfast spot to come and sit-down. Highly recommend the biscuits and gravy, made fresh every day. It seems like everyone goes to Newbreak Cafe but this is a good alternative on this side of Ocean Beach and less busy.
This place is the most friendly place around if you ever get the chance you have to come in . Hard to find parking but well worth the walk . We drive 492 miles each way sometimes just for the coffee but the food is great to .
Wonderful place! The service was super, the food delicious, the Hawaiian vibes fun. We all loved our food including my 10 & 13 yr old kids!...and so did our dog💞 We will definitely be back.
Great service! Awesome food! Very inviting outdoor patio.
A perfect SoCal place to enjoy. I came for breakfast and loved the lay back atmosphere. I had an Island bowl and ot was perfect. Coffee was also awesome .
Go to spot whenever we visit the area. Great service Great food Amazing Hawaian Coffee beans Dog friendly Stable part of our rotation Get the upcountry burrito
Always kind servers, good patio and ambiance with a takeout window around the corner- great $14 burritos! Not too huge compared to most burritos around here. Good ube coconut cold brew
Perfect little breakfast spot. The coffee is outstanding and the food is better than that. The waitress we had were very helpful and super nice. Eggs Benedict was very impressive. We went 2 mornings in row.
Excellent breakfast or lunch spot! Plenty of choices on the menu, super friendly wait staff, and loved the Hawaiian food. Will be returning anytime I come to SD.
I've been here about a dozen times and it never disappoints. The food is always tasty, good drinks, and super friendly staff. The calm and casual atmosphere is my favorite, espeically on weekday mornings. Went for a breakfast date with my partner today and our server, Monica, was an absolute gem 💛
Great little spot in OB. The toasted coconut latte was DEVINE.😍 The hubby had the Hawaiian bowl, I had the kahlua pork benedict, our son had their croissant breakfast sandwich & we shared their banana bread french toast. Great island feel. 🙂🤙🏻
Surprisingly great place for authentic Hawaiian plate lunches. Very casual but fun place, kona cold brew was great, and the Loco Moco and mac salad were spot on.
I love stopping here with my pup after dog beach to hang on the shady patio and get her a doggie meal and breakfast for me. Hawaiian inspired brunch vibes with an extensive drink menu. I got the iced coffee with umi (purpleyness shown in photo) with coconut milk and cane sugar is so yummy!
First time there was on the first morning of our vacation, we then had lunch there on day 2, and breakfast again on day 3, and we had leftovers for day 4's breakfast, or I'm sure w would have been there that day too! Delicious, fresh, and super friendly; everything there is island-time, so don't go if you're in a rush, it's meant to be enjoyed
Enjoyed breakfast on the patio. The toasted coconut lattes were to die for! Staff were friendly and met all our needs. Food was delicious and inhaled quickly.
The drinks were awesome andddddd the Polynesian breakfast, it came with rice 😊😊, was sooooooooooo flavorful.. THEY PUT REAL BACON IN THE BLOODY MARY 😃😃 Definitely going back this fall..
Very quaint, adorable restaurant with a sweet island feel and very cool music playing. Small menu adds to the quaintness. Charming! Service was super. Had the Hawaiian breakfast bowl and it was perfect.
If you’re looking for breakfast eat here! The Banana Bread french toast is one of the best things i’ve ever eaten and the Loco Moco is a close second. This place is absolutely amazing planning another trip to San Diego to come here again.
Very cute place the food there was amazing I has the banana bread toast so delicious and moist. The California breakfast sandwich I would recommend also very good prices plus close to the beach.
Always kind servers, good patio and ambiance with a takeout window around the corner- great $14 burritos! Not too huge compared to most burritos around here. Good ube coconut cold brew

This place has great brunch food, Hawaiin styled breakfast options and great coffee. Dog friendly and super cozy.
Highly recommend! Love the menu. Breakfast staples with Hawaiian twist. Bloody Mary was beautiful and delicious.

Fun little touch of the islands in San Diego
Food is amazing!! 👏🏻only issue was wait time was a bit off. But well worth the wait!
The food was great! The service a little slow but I think they were short staffed momentarily because it picked up while we were there. I love the dog menu and outside patio!
Food is good, nothing to write home about tastes like any café food. The drinks are great, we had a couple of the holiday lattes and they were the best I ever had. Service is great and it's a cute little Cafe.
The coffee was good, the food was ok, but it seemed like when we went, they were understaffed. They did have 2 more waitresses show up halfway through our breakfast, so I do truly believe that that was the issue.
3 out of 4 of us had a good breakfast. Eggs Benedict was not a good choice. Banana bread French toast was delicious and our server was lovely.
Great food and staff, nice outdoor space. Service was really lovely to our party of 7 with a baby and two dogs. This spot is great for large groups with a family friendly atmosphere. Will def be coming back!
Banana Brea latte Breakfast was great. Dog friendly patio
Food was very disappointing.
In a city with so many restaurant options settling for mediocre isn't worth it.
We went there for Father's day. They posted a sign that said they were understaffed and they were. Our orders took an extremely long time and early on they ran out of their signature biscuits and gravy as well as coffee???? My order was an omelet and I got a burrito. I wasn't about to complain. The staff had their hands full. The staff were professional and pleasant. The only thing that was off putting was dog hair everywhere under our table. They cater to dog owners but by the time we left there were lots of dogs. If you are allergic good luck with that.
Meh. I hoped for more. The Blue Hawaii French toast is banana bread stuffed with peanut butter with bananas and chocolate. Sounds amazing, but it wasn't. The banana bread wasn't great and there was just a little spread of peanut butter. It needed more. My side of bacon was skimpy. The service was slow even though we were the only ones there. I don't see a reason to go back.
Only one bathroom for the entire facility. The patio wasn't the cleanest (spiderweb in the corners) and the food was just average. Great coffee, though
We stopped here for breakfast before heading to visit some local museums. My biggest take away was everyone was a little disappointed. Either the portions were very small, not really what they were expecting, and of course it seemed like things were on a super slow pace. The best part of the meal was the fruit plate. Overall it was ok but I had better in the area for the same price and with better service.
Menu online is not their actual menu. No refills on drinks.
Good service but food is not good.
Not very friendly...
Never seems to be open - it's currently after 8am and it's closed go figure - funny whoever says "sorry we missed you at 8"... We've been here for almost 10 day and not once was this place open at 8am. Sad cause we really enjoyed eating here last time we were in town back in June
We were the only people in the restaurant for breakfast and it took an HOUR to get our food. The food was ok but small portions for the price.
Overpriced weak drinks, quick but boring service (offers no suggestions/insight to people who are new to the menu) but overall good food at a decent location.
Over priced 15 dollar tiny empty veggie omelet small portions slow to make it and slow service. Never be back.
I’ve eaten here a few times, and I feel like it’s hit or miss. Service is always friendly, maybe a little on the slow side. Banana bread French toast was yummy, but my nephew wouldn’t finish his pancakes. I tasted them, and they seemed undercooked and burned at the same time. I’ve had similar food experiences here in the past. It’s a nice location, but be careful with your order.
Food was flavorless, took a bit long with the food, for a warm day they turned on the fans until some other family got there not for us.
Food was horrible, no care was given to it. soggy chewy bland french toast and a cafeteria-quality sandwich. Felt bad spending $30+ on this. The server was nice, and I appreciate the dog friendly vibes.
I really wanted to give this place 3 stars but seeing as my service here is below average, a 2-star seemed more fitting. When I made a comment about our service, my server wanted to make a note that she was the only server working (although there was clearly another woman serving also). The second server came to bring us our drinks and she was very helpful (young lady, who seemed European or South American). Pros: -Outdoor semi-private patio -You can bring dogs -Really good food -Awesome Bloody Marys -Well prepared cappuccinos Cons: -Waitresses hide when you walk up to the entrance to be seated. -Expect to wait 5-10 minutes until you're actually greeted and acknowledged to be seated. -Anticipate another 10 minutes until they come to your table to take your order (might as well order drinks AND food so you don't wait long) -Attitude from waitress (the skinny girl with the glasses). Fyi, I'm an OB local. Been here for over 10 years but rarely eat breakfast anywhere outside of Old Townhouse. And yes, go eat at Old Townhouse! Great food, great service, that place is 5-stars all the way! I think my experience is solely based on one waitress here only. She ended up coming back and asking us what our orders were again, she seemed to have forgotten and told the cook the wrong order (we ordered Blueberry pancakes, she thought we said banana muffins). They also slid a piece of tomato with our pancakes, odd considering i had a Loco Moco (no tomatoes). [Won't be coming back. Next time I'll make the walk to just go to Old Townhouse]

Showed up around 8:30am and it was closed even though posted hours say that they open at 8... next time I guess.
Location wasn’t busy. Took longer than the time said on the phone and Everything was cold. The person who brought us the plates just threw them on the table. Wouldn’t come back
Let me preface that the wait staff was so kind and accommodating to my family and 6 week old baby. But after that it was all down hill from there. We got the bomb hawaiian breakfast bowl and the nutty nitro. The bomb so greasy and salty that it was close to being inedible. The fries tasted as if it was a previously frozen fries. My wife's bowl was the opposite tho. Under seasoned rice was dry. The the Portuguese sausage was just average. But I will say if this was a coffee shop the nutty nitro I would say 10 stars out of 5. We loved the creamyness of the coffee it had a Vietnamese coffee style taste which my wife and I both love. And when you get the little coconut flakes it was a nice little treat. But for 10 bucks hard to justify to get that for just one person. But the size was perfect to share between two people The inside had a cute vibe to it. But boy the amount of flies was awful. The whole time we were trying to wave off the flies, by the window sill there were 4 dead flies. My wife and i won't be coming back. Again nothing against the waitress and the coffee
The service is horrendous. Been here 3 times over a year the service the worst I’ve experienced in OB. One time is excusable but three bad experiences is a pattern. One example, The restaurant was empty and I asked to see a menu the waitress rolled her eyes and took 10 min to deliver the menu. The whole meal had that energy. So I tipped her 10% to which she followed me and my family out to the side walk and stared us down as we drove away. Slow is to be expected for an island grill by the beach in SD , I guess but Wth is that? For a empty restaurant the service is extra slow But what’s worse is it’s also compounded with a lack of hospitality and even worse a meanness. The aloha spirit is no where to be found. I worked in fine dining for over a decade if the restaurant owner sees this message you can literally message me for actionable feedback. Bc of the location and the food style I want this restaurant to work but there’s no way I can support it as it is now based on my continued exp there.
Waited for server, walked by and smiled, but never came by. So we went next door to OB cafe. I really wanted French Toast, thanks for ruining my breakfast!!!
Before being seated, ask how many employees are working. We have been waiting for over an hour and they only just told us when we went looking for our waitress that they are short staffed. How do they stay in business when we don’t see out waitress for over half and hour? Great way to waste time while on our vacation. Thanks Daybreak Island Grill.
I was passing by just for a weekend trip and decided to eat here for breakfast. My honest review is, that the place could be cleaner, you can find dog hair and spider webs everywhere, don’t matter if you choose to allow dogs in, it is your responsibility to maintain a place that requires high hygiene to be clean. The food was uncooked and unseasoned, it is unacceptable, you offer egg dishes RAW?? The potato was so soaked in oil I couldn’t eat it. My mother-in-law and my wife have the same complaint. I would not go back here, please fix these issues your clientele deserves better.
If I could give it a 0/5 I would. I try to give places some Grace if the place is busy, but this was not a busy time at all. The food is not worth 5$. Wait time was 1.5hours when they initially said 30 minutes. That would have been ok has the food was mediocre at best. As an example the avocado toast. The simplest of orders. The toast was not toasted, and there was barely any avocado in the thing. The egg on the top looked like it had been sitting there for a while, it was cold to touch along with the rest of the order. I'm not sure why they waited so long to serve. See pictures for further reference. To top it off, service was one of the worst I've even had. Once they bring you the food was they just throw it in the table and leave as if they are on a rush, i can't stress enough how empty it was. No one else sitting inside, just people out in the patio. When you ask them for something they bring you something else entirely. This type of service deserves no tip and yet it was automatically calculated in the bill. I think the reason why it has more than one star is because of the dog food. In retrospect i believe this should have been a RED FLAG. They have a dog menu so sure that’s unique. If you like eating Dog food for a premium price go right ahead
