Great place. Great food. Great people. 👍 chicken pounded so thin ..
The best pizza and the best owners!!! Clean, tasty food. Highly recommend!!!
I've known of this place since the 70's and I've moved away since,I ordered food to be delivered the other day and it was very good, nice work Villa Gaudio that's what it was called back in the day.
Sauce was excellent Chicken parmigiana excellent Pizza just right
Love it. Food is great and the place is very clean. Also the people that are working there are very nice, especially the waitress .
What can I say about Gaudio's, they've been serving great food since I moved to Astoria,1972, excellent food, excellent, service, friendly atmosphere
I had some pasta with clam sauce, so delicious I wanted to lick the plate.
Good food and friendly service. Chicken parm is my favorite. The prices are good.
Great restaurant! Nice menu lots of pizza and fantastic salads!
Excellent customer service!!! Great food!!! Clean establishment!!! AAA+++ staff!!! Highly recommended!!!
Since 1958 and still going strong despite the influx of newbie cafes.
Great place to eat. Pizza is very good.
Great pizza! Delicious sausage and chicken rolls!
Place is a hidden gem in Astoria. ❤ Best veal parm in queens hands down!! To be honest never had a bad meal there everything is delicious n very reasonable prices!! Food is better than 95% of Italian restaurants in queens
This place has been around since before I can remember. It was,and still is, a great pizzeria to have in the neighborhood.
during this challenging time is great that places like these are still open for the comunity, normally I go in with my wife and daughters + grandchildren, but this time we place a delivery and if I could give this place another star, I would. Thank very much Gaudios team in or out your food is just great.
Fantastic place. Dominick the owner so friendly and generous. The sauce is great with just the right touch of everything. I would recommend it to everyone so come in and try it you wont be disappointed.
A long-time establishment in Astoria. The crust is perfectly done with a good mix of crunch and chew. The cheese and sauce ratio is done well. For the price of a large pie, it's generously large.
Best Slice I have had in a long time
This is the best pizza I have ever eaten, would put a 10 star review
Owner was very nice...food was great..nicely decorated for christmas..and we were given free calendar...and a magnet business card to put on the fridge...the delivery guy (Pat) delivers fast and always smiles...he insists that $1 tip is fine...the manager EDDIE is always by the door..greeting customers...very warm friendly place.....
The meatball sandwich was one of the best I’ve ever had, real good stuff, the service was also very good, super friendly waiter.
Been in Astoria for years old fashion Italian the best carbonara in Astoria so far. Great price relax good service
Been having pizza from here for over 10 years. One of My personal Top 5
Best pizza in nyc!! Everyone should go and try it. Its a nice place and the pizza guys are very friendly
Loved the food awesome service. Believe the owners name was Nick. Try the shrimp oreganato. Greatest dish ever
Gaudio's just celebrated its 60th anniversary today!!. Hope for 60 more!! Good pizza and & everything else!!
Very classic NY pizza. Prob my fav plain slice ATM in Astoria.
Wonderful neighborhood mainstay for Italian fare!! Nick is a testament to what people on the "spectrum" can achieve!! I love love love this place!! BRAVO!! NICK!!
The Pizza was delicious! The sauce is not acidic and it is sweet…and the dough…the dough was like it was freshly made! Definitely coming back!
Nicky is a pleasant, funny person. The food is excellent. I have been eating here since 1980. I have tried other Italian restaurants, but no one compares to Gaudio's. The staff is very pleasant, including Maria & Cesar, who bring you your food, if you eat there. The place is extremely clean, & Nicky makes it a friendly atmosphere. He is always in a great mood, no matter what! I have eaten there many times, but I mainly eat at home, these days. The food comes quick, within 15 minutes, & it is hot and DELICIOUS!!!! The delivery people are very friendly, and I would suggest that if you want to eat excellent Italian food, treat yourself and go to Gaudio's!!!! YOU DESERVE THE BEST, and GAUDIO'S is the best!!!!!!
The food is amazing. The server was great, very personable but only speaks Italian or Spanish so if you know, you know 😉. The owner comes to take the orders and can be charming. Honestly if they didn't have the pizza service at the front it would be a much better restaurant atmosphere & experience but with the amount of guests dining, I don't think they could servive without the pizza business & I am a fan of it for on the go & delivery. Altogether one of the few places left in the neighborhood that gives great food & service at a great price. Don't sleep on Gaudio, they are worth it
Returned to this restaurant again today 12/22/21 after two years and the food and service are still excellent. I must commend the cooks, owner and of course Cesar the server for his exceptional Service. Fri. 1/24/2019 Had an urge for Italian food tonight. Went to Gaudios for the first time. The server Cesar was very professional and attentive. The food and service was very good. Must try the desserts. The Deco is simple and ambiance comfortable . bathrooms are clean and spacious. I must recommend and return.
I ordered a large pie cpl of nites ago & it was so perfectly good. It'wasn't the type of pizza that the dough is chewy or bitter like some other places it was so fresh & I also ordered the garlic knots. Wow super fluffy and really good packed with glazed garlic bits, mouth watering Pizza & garlic knots. Yummy good.Perfection.
Been going here since the 80’s and it’s just as good!! I remember when Frank used to be the manager, what a great guy and it’s an Astoria legend pizzeria
One of the best old Italian foods in Astoria you can find a place like this anymore. The food is really good no complaints. The people working here very kind. The atmosphere is kinda dead which I’m shocked since the place is really nice and the food really good. I would most definitely recommend this place. Btw the prices are very reasonable
My dad took me there everyday since 1960 when I was 4 years old. Best Pizza I ever had. I live in Indiana now, they don't know what pizza is here. When I go back and visit home I make sure I eat at Gaudio's everyday! The city changes but the pizza is always the same, GREAT!
My mom would walk me and my two brothers to death up and down Steinway street and our reward for being good was to sit down and feast on a large cheese pizza and those cold colorful drinks out of the fountains, memories. This was back in the early 70s.
The meatball parmigiana heroes are the best around.
I use to eat here when i was a kid in the 1970's when it was called Villa Gaudio's. Recently, I've been ordering food for delivery from this establishment during Covid-19 lock-down. I must say the food here is excellent ! It's not just a great pizza place...(their Grandma slice is bigger than most i've seen)....this place has restaurant quality food and the portions are very large. Try their Eggplant Parmesan Hero, it's the best in town. (Most other pizza places i've tried it isn't as appetizing.) Their tomato sauce taste the same as it did 30 or 40 years ago. If you love Italian food and don't want to spend alot of $$$, try this place. You can't go wrong !
This is a traditional Italian restaurant. The food was very good. Our waiter was friendly and courteous.
I visit weekly to pick up a few slices for my dad. He loves a good cheesy white slice. Guys are friendly and always quick service.
Love this place! Great atmosphere, food, and staff. Great prices. No frills or pretension but still nicely decorated.
I thought I had already eaten the best grandma pizza ever and then I had GAUDIO’S! Soooo delicious! One Sicilian pie was not enough for a family of 4 because we just couldn’t stop eating! Can’t wait to return to pick up 2 Sicilian pies instead of 1.
Was in the neighborhood and my son wanted pizza for late lunch. Pizzas are delicious. Will deginitely come again when Im in the neighborhood. Clean beautiful upscale pizzeria. More like an Italian restaurant. Bathrooms are clean and fancy too.
This was a special place! Service was really over the top and cozy place. Incredible chicken parm !
This place offers the authentic New York - Italian restaurant experience. It’s family run (for multiple generations) and the owners will make you feel like part of the neighborhood. Definitely recommend.
Always come here from nj to get the chicken parm & pasta Primavera worth the trip
Spotted Gaudio's pizza from a block and a half away. It has a big green vertical awning. Upon entering very clean , calm pizzeria. Seating and eating area very nice . The service is great very freindly and attentive. The pizza is awesome fresh cheese and crust is soft yet crunchy . Pizza not overly saucy like others . Definitely not dry at all , not overly oily but enough that us pizza oil lovers love lol. I am a huge fan of pepporoni pin wheels but i opted for a slice and it was awesome . Definitely a gem tucked just a couple stores length in the middle of the block right off of steinway 🏆.
This is by far the best place for Italian food... the pizza just has that perfect cheese to sauce ratio, the chicken parm just melts in your mouth and the spaghetti just feels so great with that sauce. On top of that top notch attention that makes you feel you are in a family home rather than a restaurant, definitely owe it to yourself to go here
What a hidden gem. Food was amazing and service was spectacular. Great value and very affordable
We’ve been coming to Villa Gaudio for 38 years, and my husband has been a customer since he was 14 years old. After seeing movies at the old Astoria Theater across the street, he would always stop in for pizza. Once we got married, he introduced me to Villa Gaudio, and it quickly became a family tradition. We brought our two sons here as they grew up, and the memories we’ve made are truly special. The food is consistently excellent—we have never had a bad meal. My absolute favorite dish is the eggplant parmesan with ziti—no other Italian restaurant makes it as good as Gaudio. Authentic, delicious, and welcoming. This is our all-time favorite Italian restaurant, and we highly recommend it!
Delicious New York pizza, and the owner is so nice!! I highly recommend this place!!👌👌
I was born and raised in Astoria. This place is been part of the community for decades. I don’t remember exactly but I think it used to take up the whole block on that side anyway fantastic pizza fantastic garlic bread my favorite can’t wait to come back to New York and make it my first stop
Bro dis pizza was so good it made me wanna slap somebody 🤣 10/10 recommend
I live around there but I never tried their foods. I heard it is very good but since I am from Haitigtrek welcomed italians in the late 1800 . when they came. Many are still in haiti. Look at your history book. Maybe someday I ll try it. I now go to a Jewish or Greek umfottumately
Always fresh and delicious food! Polite and friendly staff. LOVE IT ❤️
We got a traditional cheese and pepperoni pie. It was delicious. I was full after 2 slices. The pizza is authentic New York pizza. The taste to the size of the pizza slice was perfect. Love Gaudios 🍕. Will 100% be back !
I am a lifelong Astoria resident, and I’ve been going to Guadio’s my entire life. There’s a reason why after 67 years, it’s still in business. And that's because the food has never changed. It always was, and still is the best Italian food I have ever tasted. With all the chic upscale restaurants in Astoria now, I am so happy that there is still a place in the neighborhood like Guadio’s, where I know, after all of these years, I can still expect a good meal every time I go in.
This is one of my and my partner’s favorite spots, and we come here regularly. It’s a family-run business that has a really warm atmosphere. The owners are always very friendly and the food is great. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area.
I love Gaudio's. One of my closest friends grew up in Astoria and would come here as a kid. I moved down the street a few months ago and my wife and I went for Valentine's after Via Trenta mis-advertised their menu. It was a small and very low-key type space. We got shrimp cocktail and clams oreganata as appetizers. She got the garlic and oil spaghetti with broccoli and I got the shrimp and clam fra diavalo. It was great. I literally have zero complaints about this place.
I am nearing 60 years old and used to live in Astoria from mid 60s to mid 70s when we moved to Manhattan. What I miss from my childhood in Astoria was the great pizza you could get at nearly any mom and pop pizza joint. Well, that doesn't exist any more, especially in Manhattan, and if it does, it's probably 10 buck a slice. So, in my early golden years I have been yearning for a good standard slice of NY pizza when I stumbled upon a video on FB of Gaudio's showcasing the pizza and food and I swear the images brought me back to my childhood memories of great pizza. Well, last weekend I convinced my girlfriend to drive me out to Astoria to try this pizza. They do not disappoint! Not only is this pizza as good as pizza was back when I was a kid, it somehow tasted better! This is the best pizza joint that I have been to in DECADES! And, its extremely affordable. The people are very friendly. The guys I saw in the video were actually there working. It seems like a great friendly place that really takes care of their customers. The place is extremely clean and inviting. It's like a small intimate Italian restaurant. I can't wait to go back and try the chicken parm. This is my new go to joint! I will definitely be going back many times!
Marie was a jem as our waitress & Nick the owner was very friendly and accommodating to our group of nine from Chicago. It was our first day in Queens & one of our first stops for food. They made us feel welcome just like family. Marie entertained us with her humor and we left laughing & hugging- now that's what I call Italian hospitality! Thank you, we will visit again when we are back in town!
This place my friend Emil took me to . Its reminds me of my great grandmas house ! The salad was fresh and the chicken franchise was cooked to perfection. The chicken parm with fries on the side was so delicious and good ! This place has charm ! The owner and server was extremely friendly. The food is beyond fresh ! I cant wait to go back soon . I even took a chicken dinner to go home with !
Had their cheese ravioli. Their sauce is the best. But their service can be better.
That pizza was so delicious. Best I've ever had so far
Pizza, veal and Italian specialties are good but their burger (hand crafted, huge and served with fresh mozzarella on Italian bread is the secret star along with some of the greatest fries in Astoria.
I've been going to this pizzeria for over 2 years now and honestly can say that it is the best pizzeria in Astoria. Price is a more than others but you get what you pay for, good food !
Pizzeria style setting don't let it fool you, it was featured on Tonys Dinning Deals on CBS News. Their pizza is very good but their homemade dishes are the best. Veal is soft and tender, chicken is pounded thin. All appetizers are scrupulous and delicious. Delivery available. Signiture dish is grilled chicken , spinach fresh mozzarella in Vodka sauce second to none. Excellent food.
I have traveled and I have had good Pizza, but this place is actually great.. They have GREAT Pizza from the sauce to the cheese. Just amazing Pizza. The place is unassuming but the food is incredible. You have to come and try it. You will not regret that decision.
A friendly gruffness and NY accents at the counter. Dependably good slices, with a thin crust that manages to stay crisped yet tender. The sauce was on the savory side, with little added in way of spices. When bringing me my mushroom (canned)-broccoli slice ($4.25), the man somehow knew that I'd want a fork and knife. With a "Here ya go, kiddo", he placed them on my table. Not too busy for tables at weekday lunch, Gaudio's does a lot of take-out and delivery. (The "small" pizza is 16", fyi.) A tasty Astoria classic.
Had eggplant and 2 sliced eggplant needed more cheese but was good came with spaghetti
Came in alone on a hot afternoon in Astoria and was craving for some pasta and this is the first place I saw. I got a Fettucine Alfredo and was also given some bread to pair with the pasta. The dish itself was very warm, filling, and creamy - the pasta was cooked to perfection. The location is it’s possible downside because there are limited seats in a cramped space - which could make one’s experience unpleasant. Overall, I’d go to the place again to try out the other pasta dishes.
Pizza was OK but not worth current rating. Place is nice though
Pizza is good, but I wasn’t impressed with the eggplant parm hero. The bread was disgusting. Horrible roll, which is shameful with all the fresh bread in Astoria. There is a great bread bakery 3 blocks away!!!! You could literally walk down the street and pick up bread for the day. As far as the pizza goes the regular pie is a little inconsistent. Sometimes its a mess of too much cheese. Sometimes it’s just right. The grandma pie is actually very good. Stop in for a slice and try the grandma. The upside down looks really good too haven’t tried it yet. As I always say the pizza here is not like Brooklyn. There are only a couple descent places and guadios makes the list.
We arrived and ordered a carafe of wine and an appetizer- the mushrooms(these were good). Those came out quick enough but then the gentlemen never came back to ask us about what we would like for our main course- mind you had been there for a total of an 45 mins and no one else was eating in. So one of our party went up to the front to request the ticket. It was just way too slow.
I have friends that love this place and I just don't get it. Really not very good and pricey. Calamari, mozzarella sticks, wings, and onion rings may all be the worst I've ever had. Pizza is meh. You can make better at home - seriously.
My pizza was with taste of perfume or hand cream
Ordered margherita and pepperoni slices to go. the dough on the Marguerita was not cooked thoroughly. The sauce was on the sweeter side, could be better overall.
Great food, terrible service. The cashier was incredibly rude.
35$ for a reheated pizza! Choose elsewhere.
The man totally forgot my order, made me wait like 30 minutes and then gave me an attitude saying he never make mistakes, they should start to treat customers the right way, theres a reason that place is dead
The last couple of times I ordered pizza it was horrible. 11/27/18 my pizza was burnt. They use to be delicious, but it taste like they changed their sauce.
Please do not enter my building and leave your trash/fliers scattered around the vestibule and in our mailboxes. It is illegal. There are signs stating no soliciting, please read.
This must be the worst service Ive ever had at a pizzaria. The server acted like I was doing him a disserivce asking for pizza. Very rude demeanor. Food was good, however the service was awful
Their service is trash. Nobody wears gloves while handling food. My pepperoni roll was still cold because they take things out of the oven with their hands instead of with spatulas. I threw the food out. Completely disgusting.
I’m really upset that Gaudio’s plays games and tries to trick their customers!!!! I went there on two previous occasions and ordered veal parmigiana and spaghetti eating it in their store. Being new to the neighborhood I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the veal. It was soft and tender... a hallmark of good veal. Tonight I decided to order veal parm and spaghetti again only this time, I picked up the order and brought it home. After several bites it became quickly apparent that the quality of THIS veal was totally inferior. It was as tough as shoe leather and couldn’t cut it even with a steak knife!! And... I just wasted $20 and my time going there and picking up the food PLUS I STILL had no dinner!!!! I felt totally betrayed by Gaudios. I’ve seen this game played before in many other pizza place/Italian restaurants in other neighborhoods. They save their highest quality veal to customers that dine in, knowing full well that they would complain and Gaudios would have to make another one if they were unhappy. Gaudios counts on the fact that most take out customers would simply shrug it off and do nothing. Well guess what? I hope everyone reading this review does NOT put 1$ in this store as they could care less about YOU.
pizza is a joke, it was lacking sauce, dough was not cooked all the way. lol they had some left over pizza that some one ate on the tray of pizza which he moved with his hands and then served me the other slice😄. attitude of the guy seemed like the owner was off typical. hard pass, would not recommend and not coming back.
I ordered a simple pepperoni pizza. I live 5 blocks away. The pizza came after an hour and it was a regular cheese pie, cold mind you. I call the place and the same rude guy I placed the order to answers the phone. I told him that I got the wrong pizza. He remembered that I ordered pepperoni and he asked me how much the delivery guy charged me for it. I said $17.50 and he said OK cool. Nothing to justify his mess. He couldn't care less. I wasn't that mad at first but the pizza I received was one of the worst I've ever had. This place used to be good I don't know what's happening to Astoria. If you want good pizza definitely don't get it from there.
Stopped by for a quick slice since the place has been open for a while . $6,50 for a grandma slice and nothing special about it blend tomato sauce , no balance and salty plus attitude from the guy at the counter !!!!. Cheers .
I’ve ordered a regular pizza pie from there it was too Doughy and it was lacking flavor the sauce and cheese was below average And I’ve walked into the pizzeria a few times and I feel uncomfortable there because the owner always gives me a dirty look like I don’t even belong there very unwelcoming. Basically always stares at me with a strange face And one time my brother walked into the pizzeria and ordered a few slices and when he received his change back the owner tossed his quarters/change back at him so rudely. I highly do not recommend this pizzeria 0/5
I have to give them a very low rating this time. I’ve been to Gaudio’s countless times over the years and the food was so good. But tonight, Christmas Eve 2024, I ordered fried calamari, a dozen baked clams oreganata and zuppa di mussels… First red flag, the man that took my order over the phone rushed me and then blurted under his breath as he hung up the phone “$30, $50, gimme 30 minutes” and hung up. He didn’t say thank you, nothing. The food got to me in 20 minutes. I had to rush walking my dogs to get to the delivery man. I sat down, food in front of me. It looked so good! After a minute or so I said “what is that smell??” The mussels smelled like they were cooked in toilet water or something. The strangest smell. They tasted ok, just bearable. I tried the calamari. The absolute worst fried calamari I ever had!!!! Soggy, cold, I couldn’t eat a second piece I was so disgusted. Thankfully, the clams oreganata were good. But the calamari and the mussels were a complete fail. 1 out of 10. What a disappointment. I was really looking forward to everything, now I’m just eating a loaf of French bread they gave me with the order.
