So good we ate here twice during our trip. I had their spring special “candied pineapple dish” which I couldn’t get enough of. We ordered several appetizers and my 10 year old -who is a very picky eater - loved her vegan sesame chicken so much she insisted we come back.

Went here for the first time last night and really enjoyed it! Whole menu is vegetarian and the flavors were excellent.

I love that they veganize so many traditional staples without losing its taste, which is so impressive! The vegan pork bun tastes just like the original pork bun, wow! I never thought Chinese cuisine could be veganized so perfectly, and I can finally eat “shrimps” with no fear of triggering my allergy! The walnuts soaked in veggie milk is my fave!

Buddha Bodai is a reliable Chinatown staple for vegetarian food. Their dumplings and dim sum are phenomenal. You are served tea when you dine in. The dishes were all tasty, and I love that the gluten free options are clearly labeled.

The food here is amazing, amazing! Super tasty plenty of vegetarian, vegan or classic options! The dumplings are delicious too! It’s definitely recommended to try it out!

Delicious!!! I got so full off appetizers I didn’t even get to try an entree. But when I tell you the shrimp dumplings & the BBQ meat buns… are to die for - I am not kidding. They remind me of the duck buns I use to enjoy before becoming vegetarian. This hit the spot! The dimsum I did not enjoy was the sticky rice it was bland but still worth it. They also offer discount if you pay in cash & serve you hot tea the moment you sit down which really helps warm you on cold days. 10/10

Lots of delicious options for dim sum. There were so many choices! People here are very nice as well. Generally, I think 3-4 dim sum dishes here per person will fill you up. I loved the Buddha bean curd roll, steamed meat ball, and the beech mushroom rice roll. The fried sticky rice was good but needed a tiny bit more salt. I would order it again. I didn't care for the ribs since the meatballs are much better. My husband had the shrimp dumplings. Definitely recommend to any vegetarian! Will return

Been eating here for years, a must visit restaurant for me on every trip to NYC. clean, delicious, consistent experience every time. Prices seem to have come up a bit, but I guess that’s true to every place around here. still my number one choice for a meal in NYC.

A modern dim sum spot featuring all-vegetarian dishes without compromising on flavor. The restaurant is accommodating to dietary needs with a variety of soy-free options available that are just as delicious. Highlights of the meal included the cumin “lamb,” salt & pepper “pork” ribs, pea shoots, and the soup dumplings - so flavorful that it was hard to believe they were meatless! Overall, a satisfying experience and an excellent choice for those craving authentic dim sum flavors while catering to vegetarian preferences.

This place is the real deal. Great food. Great portion sizes. Always end up ordering too much, but always end up finishing everything because the food is great. Super clean restaurant. Cool staff. Dinner menu is awesome, but the Dim Sum menu is where it’s at. Shark fin dumplings, mushroom rice rolls, sticky rice lotus leaf are favorites of mine but you can’t go wrong with anything.

All vegan (unless otherwise marked) Chinese food in Chinatown with great service! My husband and I come here from Brooklyn at least monthly for dim sum because this place is amazing! November 2025 update : we continue to frequent this place! Delicious! There are two gender neutral bathrooms. One is larger with grab bars but not very wheelchair friendly. No step to enter.

For an appetizer, we got the jellyfish. It was so bouncy. The daikon and carrot slaw cut the saltiness nicely. For an entree, we got the chef’s special and asked for it very spicy. It did not disappoint!! We also got the lamb and mixed vegetables in garlic sauce. The lamb texture was on point, and the dish was very flavorful. Would absolutely recommend if you have dietary restrictions, they’re very accommodating!!

Great spot for veg Chinese food in the heart of Chinatown. You must order the General Tso chicken it was the standout dish - super tasty, great texture, the brocolli was also delicious with it. We also had the ho fun with mixed veg and the fish with mixed veg. Noodles were great, fish dish was less my type since it was quite gingery but if you like ginger you’ll love it. The actual dish and mushrooms in the dish were super tasty. Also portions are huge!

We loved it here, great food, good portions and heaven for vegetarians. We had the tofu with mushrooms and the "lamb" with vegetables and garlic, and we're having a difficult time deciding which is better.

Wow what an absolutely delicious meal!! We had planned to visit this place when we looked at Chinatown from the UK before our visit and it did not disappoint. We were welcomed with a pot of complimentary Green Tea which was really appreciated given it was -5C outside. We ordered a Low Mein, Sweet & Sour ‘chicken’, the Buddah noodles and another noodle dish and all 4 were sublime. Good size portions, fresh vegetables, all delicious and with very different tastes. The service was attentive and friendly, we asked to tip and were told it was included - we managed to get them to rebill with a bigger tip as we were paying by card and they were so appreciative. 1 star deducted for atmosphere as walking through Chinatown there were so many intricately decorated places with lanterns etc - but really if you’re a veggie / vegan (or just like good food) this is the place to eat 👌 Go there and try it!

Came here with a friend during the summer, we ordered the Buddha's Delight (罗汉斋) and Veg. Prawn with Walnuts (素沙汁核桃虾). Really good, I come here for lunch and dinner if I'm in Chinatown! The staff is very friendly.

Finally, I have found dim sums I can eat! I got the allergy to gluten, dairy and eggs. Their dim sums are super delicious, freshly made and vegan/vegetarian. I'm missing the taste of the pork and the duck ones. I like meat. ;) Vegans/Vegetarians you can't miss it out! The staff was super helpful, nice and well informed about the food. I had Cantonese and shrimp dim sums and I liked it very much! I recommend it and I will definitely come back.

Beautiful place in Chinatown! Great vegetarian restaurant with plenty of options. We eat meat so we’re curious on how it would taste but it was phenomenal! Had the bbq beef steamed buns and Singapore thin spicy noodles. Both were fantastic. They serve hot tea as soon as you sit which is awesome on a nice cold day.

This is my favorite vegetarian Chinese restaurant. We ordered pan fried dumplings, tofu skin with cedar sauce, mixed sea food with cedar sauce in taro bowl, eggplant in spicy laksa sauce, Buddha’s delight pan fried noodles, and Fujian fried rice. Everything was so delicious. I love their cedar sauce. It goes so well with everything, and it’s so fragrant and savory. My favorite dish was the mixed seafood with cedar sauce in taro bowl. It has been my no. 1 for a long time. I have to get it whenever I’m here. I also love the Buddha’s delight pan fried noodles. The crunchy noodles with slightly gluey sauce were just perfect. Especially when the noodles were mixed with the sauce and got a bit saggy, it was the most delightful texture. The braised tofu skin with cedar sauce was also very good. I especially love the cabbage they put in the bottom of the plate. It absorbs the flavor and with the sweetness of its own. It was my first time trying their Fujian fried rice. The idea was very similar to the Buddha’s delight pan fried noodles, but replaced the noodles with fried rice. I love the bits of the ham in the sauce. Everything was simply delicious, but just like almost all Chinese food, it’s a bit greasy. Good thing was they had some tea to go with it. The servers were also pretty pleasant and friendly.

This is a cute little restaurant serving vegetarian and vegan Chinese food. The place is bright and clean. The waiters are friendly and speak English. I've ordered many dishes and in my opinion, the vegan chicken is the best meat substitute! I find the vegan pork meat to be very soft and unappetizing. I really dont get why some people like it. The flavor is just okay. I recommend the chicken flat rice noodle, pan-fried noodles with chicken, and chicken stir fried thin rice noodles. The chicken has a nice char flavor and texture is medium firm. The overall prices are moderate to expensive for what it is. Unlike most restaurants in the area, this place accepts credit cards, which is a major plus!

Overall a great experience at this pure vegetarian gem in NY Chinatown. We enjoyed the Dim Sum.(BBQ bun was delicious). The dumplings were dry and didnt feel too fresh. For main course or Kung Pao chicken was very tasty (but we didnt like the overload of a cubed crunchy vegetable in this dish). The vege lamb stew was also delicious along with hot wok tossed fried rice. Highly recomnend this place !!

Mapo tofu rocks, Usually all chinese places give a liquid like water with tofu, but here it’s so savory, flavor filled, spicy and up for grabs! The cedar fried rice tastes awesome, usually has a motor oil/wok taste to it - but thats what I bought it for. Tasty chow fun, mild, flavor rich and yummy. Beef coriander soup was okish. Don’t get the dumplings, they seem fresh but just have a bland doughy taste.

I always have such a pleasant experience here. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always smiling and making you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. The food is nice, warm and satisfying. (I do have to say the sesame chicken batter was extremely thick and tasted like a fried donut which I didn’t love.) One thing I do want to mention respectfully is the bathroom. Unfortunately, it often smells strongly like urine, and not in a way that seems like someone just used it, it smells like it has been stuck on the floor for a while. It’s very unpleasant to experience right before a meal. Because the bathroom is such a small space, I think it would really benefit from a deep reset…removing everything, fully disinfecting, and then checking and cleaning it regularly throughout the day. I’m sharing this because the people and the food are truly wonderful, and this small improvement would make the overall experience match how great everything else is.

They used to be good. Until the last time we're there. None of our dishes got Chinese broccoli. Back then, it comes with it. On our way out, we saw the waitress bring out a dish of Chinese broccoli. So I question them. "You told us that you don't severe it anymore. Why are they getting the broccoli? " They told me that a special dish. They paid more. It's over $20 for that dish. When we asked for the check, they told us ok. However, we had asked more than twice and waited about 10 minutes for our check.

Many vegetarian, vegan, kosher and gluten free options but the food was just okay, I can imagine coming here if you can't eat elsewhere. General Tso's was pretty good, peanut noodles were watery. Soup dumplings had no soup

Very disappointing. Food had no flavor, sauces were watery. Got the pork and taro stew, tofu and mixed vegetables, soup dumpling, and pan fried dumplings. Soup dumplings were the only good thing. This was on Christmas Eve. I am vegan and thought it would be worth a shot. Seems to fall within the general pattern of vegetarian-specific Chinese restaurants being terrible. Maybe their clientele forget what good food is supposed to taste like. Avoid.

We got the gluten free beef chow mein and it was a very underwhelming dish. They straight up brought exactly that and nothing else. No vegetables in the dish, no soy sauce and no chili sauce. For the cost, a little crazy. We had to channel the vegetables previously cooked in the same wok through the noodles to pretend to enjoy it. A little effort in dish would have gone a long way. When you order ask what else is in your dishes before trusting the menu. I get simplicity but for $20 bucks that was under simple.

K
Katnes Golaub (Kat)

Sesame chicken was a 4/5, everything else was barely edible. Don't get the bao or the soup dumplings, they are both clearly pre-made and essentially falling apart. a joke of a dimsum restaurant that's preying off people's dietary needs. Just go to a better dimsum place in NYC and order the vegetarian options. Including a photo of the worst offenders
