Opiniones de Cotenna Albee Square
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city. Everything was delicious. We ordered the specials — black truffle gnocchi, beef lasagna, mango goat cheese salad and creme brûlée. Great service and ambience. Small space so it can get loud.
We would especially like to highlight Venera for her outstanding service. She was incredibly attentive, warm, and professional, making us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. Her knowledge, kindness, and attention to detail truly enhanced our dining experience. Excellent service like this makes a big difference — thank you, Venera, for making our visit so enjoyable. We look forward to coming back.
A wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the service is attentive and professional, and the food is beautifully presented and full of flavor. Every detail is thoughtfully considered, which really elevates the overall experience. Highly recommend this restaurant for both special occasions and relaxed evenings. We will definitely be coming back.
Cotenna is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It has the perfect cozy ambiance, and the food is delicious and fairly priced. This is my go to spot when I’m meeting a friend for a bite or for date night on the weekends. I especially love their spaghetti & meatballs… it is so so good!
Cotenna was an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and effortlessly elegant—perfect for both a special night out or a relaxed, elevated dinner. Our waiter, Alex, truly made the evening exceptional. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and struck the perfect balance between professional and personable. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made us feel genuinely taken care of throughout the meal. The food was phenomenal. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully seasoned. The ravioli was equally impressive: rich, delicate, and bursting with flavor, clearly made with incredible attention to detail and quality ingredients. Every element of the experience—from the service to the cuisine—was top tier. Cotenna is a place that delivers consistently and thoughtfully, and I can’t wait to return. Highly recommend.
The food was so good. We ordered Grilled Octopus salad, Bucatini with pesto, sun dried tomatoes and burrata cheese and branzino with lemon sauce and all of them were on point. Portion size was good. The service was excellent. The noise level was a little high inside. So we opted for eating outside and then there was lots of traffic. And they had no coffee or tea. Otherwise it was excellent.
TL; DR these people took care of us, beautifully. We were all delighted. We had reservations at a wonderful place in Midtown, believe it or not, but we were seeing a film at the Film Forum and after 20 minutes of trailers I realized I had been irrationally exuberant and canceled our reservations -- we would never have made it on time, and they were going to close, we had a late reservation. One of our party had been at another restaurant in the neighborhood, but it turned out to be all-cash and we had already been to a cash place earlier in the day... so that was out Cortenna was 50 yd further away. I think maybe they had just had a no-show, we got seated immediately, the staff could not have been nicer, the food was truly delicious, one of the best meals I've had in a year or two, very helpful wine captain, everything was just perfect. We were delighted with our meal, The guests were all much prettier than we were, the food was great, the wine was great, the service was great: everything was fantastic, we were seated right by a window looking at the pretty people inside and outside. We would definitely go back. Full marks. It was a little on the dark side and I had to take flash photos of the menu, that's literally my only complaint.
I would give Cotenna 6 stars for food if I could. It's some of the best Italian food that I've had in Manhattan. The restaurant is super small so I would highly recommend making a reservation. The ambiance is cute and cozy, and I liked sitting at the bar area here. The kale salad was delicious- I'm not sure how they made kale taste so good with a bit of lemon dressing, almonds, and pecorino, but it's amazing. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that this might have been the best lobster ravioli in pink sauce I've ever had. Prices are also quite low for the area. I need to return to try more dishes here!
Amazing food and great service! Affordable price for a West village restaurant. The hostess was doing an impressive job—serving, bartending, and hosting. The place is really small, so it’s not the most comfortable, but it’s worth it. We had to wait about 15 minutes past our reservation to be seated. It’s a gem 💎
My first Italian in NYC and they did not disappoint. The seafood salad was pretty good but I would love to have a touch more acidity. For entrees, we had meatballs spaghetti and the lamb shank risotto, which was cooked to absolute perfection. For dessert, we had the lava cake and the ricotta cheese cake and they were delicious!
Came here for dinner on a Friday night and really enjoyed the vibe of this place. It’s very intimate and gives off west village vibes for sure. We sat at the bar and had the mushroom pasta which I highly recommend. We also had a few appetizers that were good as well. Definitely check out this spot if you’re in the area and don’t care to be surrounded by tourists
One of the best meals of my life! As long as you skip past the questionably and confusing hostess… We made a reservation for here at 5pm and arrived on time. The inside is very tight, and super tiny. The minute we are seated inside, the hostess tells us they have a large party and that we need to leave in an hour - that’s doable as long as the food gets here quickly. We then proceed to wait 15 minutes to actually get our orders placed as the hostess does not take orders and is pacing back and forth as the place got more crowded. I really don’t know why she told us to finish in an hour when we had a reservation? We then heard her tell another group that the large party was arriving at 7:30! 😒 why were we being rushed at 5??? But regardless of this weird situation - food was phenomenal. We had the Caesar salad, octopus salad, crab cakes, bruschetta, house seafood pasta, and truffle gnocchi (my favorite). I cannot stop thinking about this particular meal. I’m definitely coming back!
Located in the West Village this small Italian restaurant just served me one of the best meals of my life. Myself and 4 other friends came for dinner while visiting NYC with some friends. The atmosphere was very cozy, sophisticated and nothing short of high quality. The service was excellent! Attentive, friendly and fast. The food was spectacular. It was amazing, I can't get enough. It was just from top to bottom some of the best food I've ever had. Definitely recommend this spot, a gem.
Cozy Italian Restaurant in downtown Manhattan. Food was tasty and delicious. The establishment has limited seating but I promise you, you’ll enjoy your time. We wanted to order the octopus but they didn’t have it on their menu. We ordered pasta dishes one with sausage and the other with mushrooms. Pricing is fair, wish they served a bit more. The wait staff is extremely attentive and professional. The bar area is absolutely beautiful along with the decor of the establishment. Highly recommend this beautiful and friendly italian spot.
Food was really good, very well prepared and rich in flavor, will definitely come back. Prices are good and portions are decent, the place is well maintained but it is very small so don’t expect much privacy. Recommend all dishes: The Lamb Chops, pasta Ossobuco & Carbonara. ( We also had a great eggplant filled with goat cheese and Tiramisu for dessert but didn’t take the picture)
Good! It’s mainly pasta, but good pasta and fairly cheap (all the pasta dishes start at $16). They don’t really have much else on the menu. Also the outdoor seating is pretty cramped, and a waitress came up after we had paid and asked if we wanted to buy anything else to hurry us along. Pretty good food but the dining experience could be improved.
Cotenna serves reliable Italian dishes and located at Bedford street near the sixth avenue. We came here during COVID when at the time NYC law restricted capacity to 50% indoor dining. They have many seating options here aside from their main tiny restaurant, they have outdoor dining on both sides of the street. Upon check in, we were lead to an annex restaurant across the street. We felt comfortable dining indoor since there were only four tables inside the unit. We started our dinner with gamberi e Aglio e olio; shrimp scampi on garlic and olive oil, it was so delicious to dip the homemade bread in olive oil with a piece of shrimp. We then had the costicine di Agnello; grilled lamb chops served with roasted potato. It blended well with our choice of a bottle of Montepulciano. For our entree, I chose spaghetti a polpette; spaghetti with meatballs and orecchiette salsiccia rapini; pasta served with Italian sausage, garlic, and broccoli rabe. We then concluded the dinner with ricotta cheesecake to share. The dishes from appetizer to dessert are simply delectable. We found that the service here was slow on Saturday night but we were happy that they were doing well that night. Do plan your visit especially if you have other pressing engagements after the dinner. Overall it was a lovely supper, we were not rushing and also not being rushed by the wait staff, we enjoyed every single dish that was served on our table. We are looking forward to dining here again soon!
Great spot and atmosphere. You get decent food and nice servings. I would avoid the red wine selection by the glass, they very kindly replaced a glass I didn’t like with another wine while I did not say anything it was just as bad. (Valpolicella and Super Tuscan) the white was decent Vermoentino)
Cotenna is now offering pizza nextdoor and it’s called Briciola. We ordered for our group today and unfortunately, no one was pleased with it. The dough was undercooked, they forgot to add parmesan on top and for the bresaola topping - they give you 3 small 1/4th slices (exactly 3) for the entire pizza so the majority of the pizza doesn’t have the topping. So, not only was the dough not cooked properly (you can see in the pics that it’s under which is why it didn’t puff up) and it wa a lack of toppings, but when we called, we didn’t get any follow up. We wanted to love their new pizza offerings but unfortunately, it’s a no go.
