The best vodka soda in the city
We came to visit my nephew during lunch and he recommended that we eat at this Irish pub around the corner. I’m glad he did. The Crooked Knife was an awesome place to stop and eat for lunch. I ordered a bacon burger and it was cooked to perfection. My nephew got an adult grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup and he said that it was great. My wife got the crispy fried chicken sandwich and it was great as well. We will come back to this place not only for the food but because Justin, who took care of us was awesome! He was friendly, funny, and super helpful.
My friends and I went after a movie and had vodka sodas. We only planned to have one, but they were so good we ended up having four each. Hands down the swellest vodka soda in NYC.
Great place to have a few drinks with friend. The food is great. Lynn, the bartender, is a awesome person
While this restaurant seems to have new management the appeal remains the same. Many of the staff are the same and they have beautifully updated the interior. It feel more open and much brighter. The service I received was friendly and highly effective. The food still on point with an updated menu as well. Highly recommend!
Had the house burger with pesto home fries. The food was delicious. Best burger I've had in a while! I will try their eggs Benedict next time.
Came here for dinner after being at NYU Tisch hospital for 48 hours with my daughter in labor and delivery. Tired and hungry, I wanted mashed potatoes, so I ordered the slow cooked ribs with that, and brussel sprouts as sides. So good! Meat was fork tender, sides nicely flavored. A great find just wandering down the street!
Not enough people are talking about their bottomless brunch that they do all week long AMD delicious food. Thank you for the best time and if you’re looking for the best bottomless brunch check this place out 🫡
Excellent burger and chicken sandwich! The beers on tap are more than just IPAs - which is VERY GOOD! Relaxing and fun environment, great staff, I couldn’t be happier!
Wonderful spot for after work drinks or dinner food is delicious.. very friendly staff. Cool space. It's also good for a great lunch.
Prices were OK but the music was the reason why we stayed for 2 hours instead for a pinte. It was 2 days before Christmas and 0 Christmas songs. rock on!
Service was excellent. Very friendly and up beat staff. My burger was over cooked but the portion + seasoning was on point.
Great pub, restaurant! Excellent food and beer, great atmosphere, superb service, fun vibe ! Loved it can’t wait to return!
Charming local bar and fab food restaurant. Michael greeted us at the bar with a big smile and great cocktails, wine and beers! Come for dinner with your friends! A real find in Kip’s Bay!
Incredible service and great atmosphere for brunch!! We loved our server George he was fun and was super welcoming!!
This is a great bar and restaurant when out with friends in the Kips Bay area of Manhattan. There is outdoor seating for the times when the weather brings sunny, fresh, radiant rays through the air that one can't get indoors. The indoor environment is classy as well. There is a bar with an excellent selection of beverages on tap. The fried calamari and the burgers are delicious! The Crooked Knife's toasted hamburger buns go so well with their savory burgers. The atmosphere is neat and pleasant, with excellent customer service. This is a lovely corner bar & restaurant!
Great chicken pot pie here

Bottomless brunch 7 days a week? Its a no brainer. The drinks are strong. The decor is....different but I do enjoy the flowers on the table. The food was pretty good (sorry, was ravenous and did not take a pic) and I was over the moon with the drinks. They were strong and flowing. I will definitely come back when I visit home again.
Just visiting & was questioning where I should go to brunch w/ my girlfriend. We settled coming here & it was awesome! Super chill brunch vibe & The bartender Lynn was cool as hell. Great mimosa & food deal. Ask them for a brunch box!!!
My favorite restaurant in town. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the drinks are great, and everything is reasonably priced. The burgers are my favorite, and the nachos are the best snack if you're here with others. Couldn't recommend more!
The service is always very pleasant and polite, which is the most important thing for a pleasant experience!
Absolutely perfect brunch spot. Great food. Perfect simple Bloody Mary’s. No extra malarkey added in. Just delish. Want a quiet brunch for a chat or family time? Come at 11 when they open. Around 1 you’ll start to see the bottomless brunch crowd roll in. Nothing wrong with it at all! Just choose your vibe! Food was truly delicious ( and always is at dinner too). You can’t go wrong. Casual. Familiar. Friendly. We love Crooked Knife and are proud to call it our regular spot!
Casual spot with better-than-you’d expect food

Unexpected GEM! Will be back
I use to come here when it was thd Waterfront Alehouse years ago. It still has that same astetically Irish pub vibe with a bit of industrial flair. The food is good. I really enjoyed my fish and chips and my wife enjoyed her quinoa salad with orange honey dressing. In addition, the Guinness was solid. I will definitely return.
No bells and whistles, but great prices and a solid overall vibe. Not much to complain about. An easy four star spot.
A decent spot in Kips Bay with a strong selection of beers, tasty food options, and that local corner pub kinda feeling.
A very pleasant pub, with wide beer selection, good food, and friendly service.
Nice beer selection, great fish and chips. Friendly efficient staff.
Cracking pint of Goose Island IPA and the 1/2 pound burgers went down a treat
Great neighborhood spot to have drinks and a fun time.
Great burger 🍔 and a Guinness 🍺!
Not bad, but they haven't hired my band so 4 stars. Other than that 5 stars because the place is pretty chill and clean.
Probably the best $8 (happy hour) espresso martini you can find in the city
Was down at the hospital and looked for a place for lunch. This place did not disappoint with its food and beverages.
Was down at the hospital and looked for a place for lunch. This place did not disappoint with its food and beverages.
This place was… an experience. We walked in around 4 PM to an empty bar. Greeted (barely) by a tall, gray-haired bartender who looked like he’d already mentally clocked out. We ordered beers, and he poured them like it was his first day — foam overflow, beer dripping down the sides, puddles on the bar. He saw the mess. Walked away. No towel. No wipe. No shame. Luckily, two younger bartenders — a guy and a girl — showed up 20 minutes later and actually gave a damn. They were fast, friendly, and handled the growing crowd like pros. Suddenly the place had a vibe. And then… the shuffleboard squad rolled in. Within an hour, the place transformed into what felt like the afterparty of a 1960s high school reunion. We were asked — multiple times — to scoot down, adjust, make room, shift over. Like, every five minutes another cardigan-wearing member of the AARP Avengers needed a seat at the bar. We were practically playing musical chairs with strangers in orthopedic shoes. At one point, it felt like we were guests at someone else’s family gathering. No “Hey, sorry,” no friendly banter — just a silent assumption we’d make space. And we did… until it got old. We were planning to stay the night, but the message was clear: this bar already has its people — and we weren’t on the guest list. Shame, really. The place itself wasn’t bad. But if you’re under 60 and unfamiliar, don’t expect a warm welcome. Just bring some Bengay and a folding chair — you’ll need both.
I had chicken tenders, they were so good. The gentleman who brought me my food looked annoyed when I asked for ketchup. The waitress wasn’t very attentive. Perhaps because there were a lot of people at the bar. She served me one drink and never came back. I would have had a few more drinks but I didn’t like the fact that she didn’t check on me.
Really kind staff - fun, social, and extremely accommodating. Excellent bar and beer selection. Breakfast was good. I thought that the bacon was a bit thin/dry (would have loved to see them thick and juicier) and that the toast was just one slice of toast. Would have been great to have 2 slices, some butter (didn't include butter), and an option of white or wheat. Sausages were a bit spicy and crunchy, and the eggs were cooked well. Their cocktails are delicious, so definitely worth coming here for the bar/drinks/beer selection. With slight tweaks to the breakfast, this would be an excellent brunch spot. Will come again.

Could be great but service is spotty and food is only okay.
Average midtown bar
Dropped by on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner w a friend. Chose outside seating because the weather was nice. Had the house burger and a beer. Everything was great- bacon was crispy, had ordered burger medium rare (I know, why would anyone do that at a bar) but it came out medium-ish, no pink at all… was pretty content with the meal, beer, and service —except after leaving the restaurant and on our walk down to the lower east side I was hit but sudden excruciating stomach pain and the urge to use the bathroom- almost couldn’t hold it in- ran into a bar to use their bathroom… then had to go again within two blocks of that bar. There could be no other explanation for the sudden onset of explosive diarrhea other than food at Crooked Knife, since I hadn’t eaten anything else that day and was fine before hand. The meat was cooked so I don’t think it was the burger patty? My friend had the same order but had gotten his burger medium and didn’t get sick at all. Maybe it was the lettuce/tomato. Uncomfortable stomach issues aside, I’m not opposed to giving the place another chance.
The Food is pretty good, but there are a few things that need to be said; they use Iodised salt, which means you need a LOT to season. This next thing may sound dumb, but I had the Mac n cheese, and there was too much mac, and not enough cheese, I had to salt it, but it was pretty damned good. I also had the fish and chips, to be honest, the batter doesnt get crispy, I also had to salt it, which isnt bad if you have access to kosher salt, but with Iodised salt, you require a lot. Decent selection of beer My Guinness was perfect, my Grandmother's Blue Moon was perfect, but my Dad's Stella was flat. These guys are newly opened, so I know things wont be perfect right off the bat, So I'm excited on visiting again to see where this Restaurant goes!
Upon entering Friday night there was one spot at the bar, luckily. This seems popular. As a frugal guy, I asked the waitress what prices were for a shot. $8. I almost threw up - but they agreed to cut me a break if I tipped well. Fortunately, I always tip well. After a great pour of Guinness and a couple shots, I was cheers-ing the whole bar. I would’ve tried the food, but I’m more a Sandor Clegane “I’ll take a roast chicken” vibes. No roast chicken here, only fried. Bottom line: good place to stop for a drink. Making my way to the next bar.
I had the chicken pot pie and i was disappointed. While the crust and gravy were tasty the chicken was bland. I also personally did not like that the pieces of chicken were cut uneven to where there were big chunks and then small ones. Really should shred the chicken instead and season it as well. The burger was cooked well and juicy and the avocado BLT was also good. The french fries weren’t the best.
We came for bottomless brunch and were asked for IDs in a very rude tone (we are 23 and 25 but look young), he took 10 minutes scanning our IDs in a machine that didn't work and came back to tell us that we look very young and he can't accept our genuine New York State IDs... he didn't believe I was 25 until I showed him my graduate school ID. Very rude about it. Food was good and bottomless was good but don't understand why this dude was so rude

I still don’t know what just happened to me, he said I didn’t pay for my bill before and kick me out… I was shocked but I still checked my transactions from last year and am 100% sure he was talking about another person (if there really is someone) I remember the food was great but I’m just really upset. It’s either he believes all the Asians look the same or he just hate seeing any. I passed their door almost everyday but I’ll never visit again.
Salmon was super dry and over salted. Wine very low standard. 3/10 dinner. Seemed like a fine bar.

A pure watering hole...
went last week with a friend and the waitress overcharged the card by 90 dollars, called and she said she must've added a tip too large, and the charged us again instead of fixing the problem
Late Sunday stop. Insanely rude server and mediocre food selection. Tons of better spots on third Avenue just a few blocks away.
This WAS a great bar when it was the Waterfront Ale House. This bar is NOT the Waterfront Ale House and is definitely NOT great.
Asked for a specific drink on the menu, had to argue with the bartender who repeatedly insisted he "didn't want to make that drink" and repeatedly tried to convince me to order something else
This place is not what it used to be. The atmosphere is dead. It's lifeless
The barman use our credit card to give himself 150$ tip
Terrible experience across the board can’t say I will ever go back
Happy Hour was $7! for a watered down IPA. an order of wings was $13 for 6 wings? CROOKed is right... Never again.....
Horrible. One of the workers there which I believe is the manager was drunk for one for two he wouldn’t take my order sent me to a different location also told me wat I was ordering wasn’t on there brunch menu but when I asked to see the menu it was clearly there. Horrible I wish I could give zero stars
Bartenders gave my credit card to another patron and charged their full tab to my credit card. After being told that I need to cancel my credit card and wait a few days for the significant payment they erroneously charged to my card to void, I was given a second bill. But don’t worry. Two drinks removed. For any newcomers, don’t trust them with your tab. Great experience otherwise.
This used to be a place we would go regularly. We recently went for my friends birthday and the owner was so rude. The second we walked in he came up to us in a very rude tone saying he’s not doing bottomless brunch for us, meanwhile we’re all 21-22 and had our IDs. He had a very dismissive tone even after we tried showing us our IDs. Very poor service and it’s disappointing seeing as this was a regular spot for us.
Nasty man in there. Terrible person me and my friends are 23 we showed him ids he said we looked too young and refused to serve us even after showing our graduate ids as well. Very disrespectful thinks he is above everyone.
