I've only ever ordered delivery and their food and the order is always accurate and tasty. The vegetables are fresh and well seasoned. They hooked it up on the last order and gave me more veggies and pita than was worth $1.
This restaurant is a family favorite. The bread is made fresh in house; something I haven’t found anywhere else. The hummus and falafel are favorite appetizers. I am a big fan of the lentil soup and chicken kabobs while my guys love the gyros.
Food was great, will come back again Me and my daughter went there for my birthday. It is a beautiful home turned into a restaurant.
This is definitely a hidden gem in Allen. I didn't know what to expect when I pulled up because it just looks like in an old house from the outside. But it is very cozy and clean on the inside. The staff was polite and I had fast and friendly service. The food was also delicious. I had a gyro and it was very tasty and the meat was juicy and flavorful. You get free pita bread and dipping oil with your meal. It's very inexpensive and worth a visit.
AMAZING, authentic Lebanese food! This place is in an older house-turned-restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. The layout is a little funky but it works. There is a garden supplying some of the food and herbs which is fantastic. We had a great time and loved the family-run atmosphere. The service was a little slow but that's not always a bad thing ya'know? Slow down and enjoy the experience. The yogurt sauce is to die for and the (hot, meat/rice) grape leaves were AWESOME! Hummus was good, and the pita bread is great! Very very happy with the food. I will absolutely be back regularly!!!
So the atmosphere is one of the coolest restaurants I’ve been in, and it was great. Plus, they have a veggie/herb garden I’m amusing they use in their cooking. Very cool. The food was just so so fresh and delicious.
Lucky enough to find out about this spot due to a work dinner. Service and ambience was impeccable, and the food was incredible. I normally don’t like falafel but there was light and crispy. Everything was so tasty. Thanks again!
We had a great dinner love this place I used to go when it was in Richardson. I do miss the buffet. Great staff super friendly and our waiter was very attentive to us. Food was delicious freshly made meals. Everything was awesome from start to end. You can also bring your own wine bottles.
Food and service was outstanding! Always delicious when we eat here. The Lemon Chicken has to be the most amazing thing I've had in Allen. Wonderful herb garden outside this old house that has been turned into a cozy and delicious dining spot. For an anniversary dinner, the owner even sang us some songs accompanied by his accordian! Great service, delicious food, and a nice historic spot in Allen.
Great medaterian food, great prices and the service was great 😃
I have loved Hedary's since I was a little girl and they had a location only a few blocks from our house. Their lemon chicken is the BEST chicken I have ever had in my life. I still have dreams about it. I am so happy to be able to go to the location in Allen. The food is a little pricey, the service may be slow, but it is well worth it. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!
I rarely write reviews but this place was truly amazing. From the gorgeous garden outside it's clear much of the produce is as fresh as it could be! The food was delicious and authentic. The people were friendly, the food was made quickly, and a good amount for the price. Thank you so much!!! We are eager to return :-)
Love this cute little place. We went there for my bday and the manager sat down with us to chat and played us his accordion and sang us a song as well. Love the food. Since it's a BYOB and we are wine lovers, we like to try and our own wine and sip it with gourmet Mediterranean food they have.
Food was great. I felt like I was invited over to someone's house for dinner, in the best of ways. Decor was a bit old but it created a unique atmosphere. Bread was fresh hot and fluffy. The service attitude was a bit dry, but that is the Lebanese culture. The tabbouleh with gyro was tasty, and the lamb chops were tasty, yet slightly overcooked-otherwise amazing.
I don't know how anyone could say anything bad about this unique place. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the location is unlike most restaurants in Texas. Ask to be seated with Buddy, he's a charming and attentive server. The worst I could possibly say is that the decor could use a bit of restoration, but that's really not all that surprising considering how old the home probably is in age. I'll need to come back in the spring when everything is starting to bloom. As-is, it was already a great date spot. P.S.- Hedary's Chicken entree was what I ordered and I have no regrets. Order this when you come!
Love this place, it has excellent food, strong Turkish coffee and an exotic kind of ambience reminiscent of Rick's in Casablanca. Having visited several times now, the service has always been excellent, with very friendly staff. The building is reportedly over a hundred years old, but finished nicely with several smaller rooms and one larger one, which gives a more intimate feel to the dining experience than the typical wearhouse with tables experience common at many locations today. For a romantic dinner for two or a get together with friends, if you like trying exotic food, I believe you will greatly enjoy Hedary's Mediterranean Restaurant.
We love Hedary's. The food is always exceptional. The half chicken, the gyro meat, the veggie plate, all are good. Service is always great too and we just love the old house it is in and the garden out front where they get fresh veggies from in season.
Stumbled upon this little gem this afternoon! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The restaurant is quaint and feels very cozy and homey. We will definitely be coming back soon!
If you're looking for the best Mediterranean food, this is the place. They even grow much of thier produce. And being a BYOB restaurant, you can enjoy an amazing meal without breaking the bank. My wife and I love going there. Our friends drive up from Dallas to go because of the food, service, and atmosphere. Check them out.
This is my favorite Mediterranean restaurant. I've been coming here for years, and I never get tired of it. The food is always fresh and delicious. You can see the garden out front where they grow their veggies and herbs. Fresh! Hedary's is located in a lovely historic home and has nice seating options both inside and on the beautiful vine-shaded patio.
First time here and we will definitely be back. Food was wonderful
This place is a staple in our monthly rotation. We drive over an hour both ways to enjoy their amazing food and homey atmosphere. The hummus, falafel, salads and hedarys chicken are my favorite items on the menu. 10/10 recommendation for a heart healthy and flavorful meal that never disappoints.
“When you’re here, you’re family..” what a warm and inviting home to have dinner in. The entire team treated my party and myself with Hospitality and Love. Thats right, I said it- Love. The food was made with love, I could taste it. The atmosphere is so inviting we didn’t want to leave. The food is phenomenal- this chef has decades of training and experience and it shows on the dinner table. I can’t wait to bring my family to this spot when they come to visit for the holidays. 10/10 would recommend d to a friend!
The food was exquisite. The service and ambiance even better! The Hedary chicken is a must try!
Have been there twice while passing thru the area, and the food has been phenomenal both times. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner (Buddy) on our most recent visit. After chatting a bit, we convinced him to play his accordion for us. What an incredibly special experience being hosted by a fascinating gentleman.
This place is a jewel. A family owned restaurant with exquisite food, warm and cozy ambience, and excellent service. Our first experience was a take out for a home party, which was highly successful, and then we returned to have dinner with our friends. Will come again for sure.
This was our first time eating at Hadary’s and we loved it! The staff was friendly, and the food was amazing. We will definitely come back.
Best atmosphere, very delicious food and wonderful service. We had a party of 20 people and everything went more than perfect! Many thanks to George the owner. Maria and Ana did excellent job and took care of my guests.
Wonderful place to eat dinner! I went with a friend and her 1 yr old son and they were so inviting! The food tastes authentic and the church le house converted into a restaurant is darling! We are so grateful we came here for dinner! Amazing find!!
The food was amazing! Everything was homemade from scratch and fresh. Definitely will come back. Thank you Lindsey for introduce us to the finest Lebanese / Mediterranean cuisine!
Great atmosphere. We celebrated a birthday party on their back deck. Great food and charming restaurant in downtown Allen.
My husband and I visited this place for the first time last week and were thoroughly impressed. The service was superb. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. And the ambiance was lovely, right down to the live accordionist! If you're looking for a place rich in culture, delicious food, and a gorgeous large outside patio to enjoy, this is your spot! We'll definitely be back. It's my new favorite restaurant!
Me and my sister and my dad were at the hospital all day and were hungry. We found this place the food was amazing
I love Mediterranean food and had it many times, but this was some of the best I've ever had. The service was wonderful too. The atmosphere is so cozy in a house built in 1904. Our server, the son of the owners told us a lot of history about the home, the food and the family. It was a wonderful experience. Definitely taking friends and family there. We also loved that it's BYOB.
The atmosphere was fantastic and the food was even better. The complimentary pita bread was addicting. I got the meat combination platter with veggies instead of rice, and it was to die for!!! My friend got the half chicken, and that was so amazing. Also, best baklava I've ever had. 10/10 recommend. I will be going back... a lot.
The food here is very good. I got the Hedary's Famous Chicken, which was some of the best I've had. The Turkish coffee also makes for a great pick-me-up before leaving lunch. The restaurant also has that cozy atmosphere that only a small, locally-owned business can offer. It's in a converted house, which is a nice break from the chains and strip center restaurants in the area. UPDATE: One year after I wrote this review, this "Hedary's Chicken" is without exaggeration one of the best chicken plates in Dallas.
Had an amazing experience at Hedary’s Mediterranean! The food was absolutely fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything we ordered was delicious. I especially want to shout out Katelyn, who was serving us on her first day and first job ever—you would never have guessed. Her service was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. She was confident, friendly, and made us feel very well taken care of. You can tell she has a great attitude and work ethic already. Between the incredible food and excellent service, this place is a total gem. Highly recommend—Thank you Katelyn 🩷👏✨
We visit Allen several times a year and when time permits, we enjoy going to Hedary's for dinner. The food is very good and the bread is dangerously good - too easy to fill-up on it. My wife usually has the Gyro plate which is very good. This time I had Sujuk - spicy beef sausage. It was very good. It was basically like kafta but with a little spiciness. We shared a fatoosh salad which was good, fresh and a very generous portion. The wait staff may be family members as they are young and generally ok, but not great. We've been seated in the same room every time we've been. It is a smaller rood with 4 tables - a couple of them larger. It is generally pretty quiet, although on this occasion there was a large group that was a little loud - not terrible. All in all, a very enjoyable evening as always.
Hedary’s is hands down the best Lebanese food I’ve ever had. The dishes taste incredibly fresh and homemade. You can really tell everything is prepared from scratch with care and authentic flavors. The restaurant itself is very cozy and intimate, which makes it perfect for a date night or a relaxed dinner. One of the things that impressed me most is their garden outside, where they grow many of the vegetables used in the kitchen. It adds a special touch and you can truly taste the freshness in the food. If you enjoy authentic Mediterranean/Lebanese cuisine in a warm, welcoming setting, Hedary’s is a must-visit.
I love the atmosphere of the old house and the history of the restaurant. Bring a bottle of wine and enjoy your time there. The staff and food are always amazing!! Start with the Mezza and hot pita.
I had a guest from out of town and I thought of Hedary's for the cute historical home and excellent and fresh Lebanese food. I love this family restaurant and learning from Elvis about the family story. Thank you for taking such good care of us, Elvis! We enjoyed our dinner!
The location is adorable and the family who owns it is so nice. I would go there just for that. However, the food blows everything else out of the water. Every dish was superb. I couldn’t carry on a conversation at one point because I had to stop and just savor the lamb chop. The Hedary chicken is a must.
The best Mediterranean place to go! Allen, Plano or McKinney! It's a small mom and pop shop that is a hidden gem in Allen. They uses local and clean ingredients in their food. We highly recommend getting the Hedary's chicken (good for 1 hungry person) and Hedary's soup.. their hummus is amazing too.. we also got the large Mesa one time. It was amazing and healthy! *** Pro tip from the staff: if you get the chicken, you eat it with their freshly made pita bread. Dip it in the sauce, wrap the chicken meat with it etc. Not rice. Made this mistake before. Never again. Lul. The staff is amazing and very passionate about their restaurant! The ambiance is also quite lovely. Good for families, dates, big gatherings etc. prices are also fair. If we could, we would visit this place every weekend lol. Also it's a BYOB/W restaurant. Enjoy!
I’m so glad I found this place! The food is 100% delicious, almost all dishes are made fresh from scratch by the owner/chef. The service is fantastic—special thanks to Ekaterina for her friendliness and excellent menu recommendations! I can’t wait to try the Hedary’s chicken from the specials next time :) The atmosphere is very cozy and down to earth, I loved the music choices as well. Thank you to all of the staff and the owner for a wonderful experience! I’ll be definitely coming back!
I really enjoyed my visit. This is the first restaurant that I have ever seen kibbeh on the menu! I didn't try the grape leaves this time, but they are handmade by a legit Lebanese grandma from what I hear....! I'll definitely be back, I love the family style setting is something that I'm looking to bring friends for!
First time trying this place SO WORTH IT. Order their Hedary’s Chicken. Baba was flavorful and most importantly homemade pita bread just WOW. Also order the meat combination and special dessert. When entreating the restaurant you’ll wait a little bit before getting served. The owner will stop by to say hi and ask about the food. Please ask for them ahead of time for dessert to heat it up. Great service and vibe for a quiet and good food joint.
Food was exquisite. In the past two years we've been here only 3 times. Waiter was very attentive and kind, somehow he managed to rememeber our faces, he was very helpful with our food choices. As i always like to try something new and never eat the same things, so far in all my visits, the food was simply delicious! I highly recommend it for date nights, because the food is a little pricey to be coming by daily between my husband and i we paid around $50, but i think it is worth the money for a special occasion. If you have that kind of money by all means go everytime you want. Lol I hope my review was helpful.
Our waitress was so great! She answered our questions about the menu and gave recommendations. Nice little place in an old house. Good atmosphere. Everything we ordered was very delicious. The Shabiet is a must try. So good! We will be visiting again soon.
The hummus was good but a small portion for $10. The pita was really chewy, it was really difficult to eat so I didn't eat it. The gyro was good but had to peel off a layer of tortilla; it was hard to eat as well. The rice was cooked and seasoned well. The baklava was sweet and crunchy!
Food was great and fresh tasting! Left feeling full. Service was a bit slow and decor was a tad drab. BYOB which is always an upside in its own way. Nice looking garden in front, especially in the hot Texas summer. Definitely plan to come here again.
Have seen this restaurant for months. My wife and I always would say we have to try it. Today we did. Excellent lamb chops; superb white rice dish; and wonderful mixed veggies. Staff was cordial. Place is "sort of quaint"...we enjoyed ourselves and will be going back to try other dishes.
George and his team catered dinner for our New Year Eve party. The food was excellent and fresh. Everything was prepared fresh that morning down to the pitas! The highlights for us were the falafael, hummus, baba ganoush, and tabbouleh! The star of the show was a green spicy sauce that they make from scratch. This is a family-owned business since 1976 that I will gladly continue to support. Thank you George and family for making our party a huge success! Love your food.
Such a cozy place for dinner with friends! Heard it has amazing rotisserie chicken, and it was great! We loved the chicken and everything we ordered - thanks to our waiter who made awesome recommendations. We were also happily surprised by a group of guests sitting at the table right next to ours, and they were sending us origamis lol. Such a fun evening.
Hedary's is always a favorite! AUthentic Lebanese food is usually really good. I found this time I went a lot of the food to be bland and not as authentically flavored. I order beef grape leaves and Kibbee and they were very bland, maybe the chef was different that usual...the food was still good, just missing the authentic flavors like garlic, mint, lemon, salt, etc.
Appetizers was Good probably not enough employees (Waitress) to satisfied all customers The Dishes are good But I didn't get the whaou effect. Take one more waitress to have a Quality Service
A quaint location and seems like a home converted into a restaurant. There is also a vegetable garden growing eggplants and herbs. The Hedary’s chicken is delicious. We love the lemon garlic sauce. The numerous kebabs are good too. The portion size is on the small size compare to other Mediterranean restaurants.
Service was very slow and the food was mediocre and overpriced, particularly for the quality. Unfortunately that's been our experience to varying degrees on four occasions now over the years that Hedary's has been open, and we won't be back again. We brought family for lunch on mother's day, not realizing they weren't normally open on Sundays, and no one bothered to mention in the first 30+ minutes they left us to look at the menu that we could only order off the dinner menu. Naturally the only dishes I'd been looking at were lunch dishes and had no equivalent on the dinner menu. My husband asked for a simple substitution of a little gyro meat instead of the lamb chop that came with his dinner combo (which I suspect would work out in their favor in terms of cost of ingredients, and gyro was certainly available in other dinner combos that likewise didn't quite have what he wanted) and they wouldn't accommodate him. Said lamb chop was overcooked, as was the chicken kabob that came with it. Dolmas were nothing to write home about, and they're usually our favorite Mediterranean dish. Hummus was fairly tasty but an odd, whipped/fluffy texture. Not the sort of experience I want to pay roughly $20 a plate for, not counting appetizer and drinks, when I can get far better food and far better service at other Mediterranean restaurants for half the cost.
If you want no frills decent kabobs and nice thick hummus, then go for it! You may just want to take it to go; the ambiance is horrible. I have never eaten at a delapidated house with no design aesthetics. In it's defense, the food was pretty good (soft lamb, chicken, and beef). It wasn't knock your socks off, but pretty good meat and above avg hummus.
I placed an order for delivery today and it came on time, but I was very disappointed with them. I ordered grilled chicken for my salad and they gave me 3 little pieces. I asked for mixed veggies and I got a cup of cucumbers. I asked for extra dressing and olives but didn't get them. Also I asked for Gluten free pita bread and they gave me flour or wheat just lying in the plastic bag. With this virus mess going on they could have wrapped them right? 😕 The food was good not great...just disappointed!
It was difficult to find at night because it's located on a residential side-street. Parking is cramped. Waiter was grouchy and very unpleasant. He shook his finger in my face. Food was OK. Nothing special. I asked for salad with dressing on the side. The salad came with lots of salad dressing with an additional little bottle on the side. Several her guests at the table seemedto enjoy the chicken option.
Service was very amatuer. Server makes multiple mistakes then tries to charge us more to bring the correct food. Rice was good, lamb chops were small. Tasted like it had been frozen for a long time.
Specifically asked that chicken kabobs not be over cooked because last time they were bone dry and difficult to eat. Result: same. Just tasted like chicken breast that was cubes and thrown into a fryer. At one time this was a good restaurant. Just mailing it in now. Other than BYOB not worth it
Was very excited to try this place after reading all those good reviews. Not sure what are these people thinking saying the food is amazing here. We ordered dolmas, baba, fatoush salad, half chicken, beef kabab and the soup. Honestly only chicken was kind of ok. Everything else so bland, no Lebanese spices at all. We’ve had a lot of Lebanese food and honestly never as bad as this. The service was good and atmosphere is like sitting in somebody’s house. Also they charge $3 a person cork fee.
Don't eat here if you have food allergies. Staff doesn't seem to treat it with importance or urgency. Generally our server seemed aloof and distracted, and confused by the simple question: Does this contain wheat or egg product? He reassured us that the menu items we ordered could be made without/adjusted. If the owners are reading these, I need you to know that you poisoned my wife. She will be experiencing severe full body pain for days while the rice-a-roni you served us makes its way through her system. Please take some time to educate your staff about your menu, and the importance of knowing what is in the food you serve.
If you are a minority, BEWARE of this place. My wife and I went for a date night and once seated, nobody looked at us, said hi, took our drink orders, nothing. We saw multiple people come in and get immediate service upon being seated. We finally just left because we were so shocked at the disregard for us. We will never be back and want to warn others. Spend your money elsewhere.
I would give a negative rating if I could. This is probably one of the worst experiences my husband and I have had at a restaurant. Food was mediocre-I've had much better in other Mediterranean restaurants. The service was what irritated us the most. The older gentleman who took our order was rude and unwelcoming. There was an older lady (I assume she was the owner but I might be wrong) who went to all the other tables in our room, (asking them if they needed anything and being friendly to them.) But never once did she even make eye contact with us or bothered to ask us if we needed anything in spite of knowing that we were done with our dinner and that our plates were empty. Discriminatory much? We waited for 20 minutes to get our check because nobody paid any attention. It was humiliating and very uncomfortable to sit in that restaurant. I do not think we deserved to be treated with so much disrespect. Would not recommend any person of color to go there.
With a rating of 4.4, it would be fair to say that we walked in expecting a good, if not a great experience. When we entered, we were met by an elderly gentlemen, who stared blankly at us - no greeting, no welcome, didn't say a word. That's fine, I asked for a table for 3. We ordered a platter and their signature Hedary's Chicken dish. After 20-25 minutes, food arrived - the lamb chop in the platter was almost raw, it was bleeding (we were not asked how we'd like it done). The chicken was bland sitting on an island of watery gravy, with a smattering of tomatoes, potatoes and carrots, cut crudely (total of 8-10 pieces) . On the whole, all I can say is, it undoubtedly was one of the worst eating experiences I have ever had. Poor service, long wait, and really uninspired food. Won't be back here for sure!
I was genuinely surprised to see so many positive reviews, as our experience was deeply disappointing. We chose this restaurant based on those reviews, hoping to celebrate my brother’s milestone birthday, but unfortunately, the evening fell far short of expectations. The issues began when they couldn’t find our reservation. While they did accommodate us since the restaurant wasn’t busy, this initial mishap set the tone for the night. Some members of our party were fasting, yet the mezza plate — intended to break their fast — arrived very late. This delay was consistent throughout the evening, with slow service, no water refills, and food that was both tardy and poorly prepared. Several dishes were either undercooked or overcooked. The restaurant’s specialty, Hedary’s chicken, had an unpleasant odor and was inedible. The kofta was extremely dry and hard, the rice lacked flavor, and the beef kabob plate was served rare. When we finally managed to speak with our server about these concerns, they argued that the food was fine. The owner later approached us with a similar response, claiming, “We haven’t had a complaint about Hedary’s chicken in 50 years.” We had hoped for a memorable evening to celebrate a special occasion, but the combination of poor food and poor service left us feeling disappointed and disregarded. It truly seemed like the staff didn’t care about ensuring a positive experience.
Wouldn't know how good the food is. We had reservations for our Anniversary/Valentines Day, We were not greeted for 15 minutes, finally sat, and no waitrer/waitress for another 20 minutes at least. Not even greeted. No water, no anything! We left and went elsewhere (downtown Mckinney), and had an exceptional experience and celebrated. Total waste of time and awful experience!! We will never be back or recommend it to anyone! I can't believe the number of "good" reviews. This was the most awful experience we have ever had at a restaurant.
Had to change my 5 star to 1. Came in on Valentine’s Day for a good meal only to find out that they had a limited menu for no reason. We were treated coldly even with a reservation and decided not to eat there as they didn’t have what my wife and I wanted to eat. I have spent a bit of money here but Likely will not be coming back again
The food is quite tasty. I would give it a 4. But the reason I give it a 1 is cos the terrible service we got. The senior gentlemen that was serving us was very rude. This is probably the first time we have received such kind of service anywhere in the US. Wouldn't recommend going there if he's the one taking care of you. Would ruin the experience.
I typically love Hedary’s and have always recommended the restaurant to my friend. Yesterday evening, the food took half an hour longer to be received. When I got it, it had already become cold. The hummus wasn’t fresh like it normally was. This was really disappointing since I was treating a party of 4 to my visit. I love the picturesque view, and the owner has always been cordial.
