Find this hidden gem if your every in Amarillo. We got lucky and happened upon Mi Gente by accident. It’s right across from the Hogetown ballpark and the food is next level! Fresh, flavorful and filled with a skilled touch by Chef Paul, I wish we knew about it earlier on our trip. Carnitas and Asada cooked to perfection! Lots of veggie dishes and street corn to die for. Big thanks to Paul and his lovely wife and partner who run the place. The truck houses the kitchen but there’s a lovely sit down restaurant adjacent to it. Run don’t walk to Mi Gente!

Was looking for a place to eat while I stayed at a hotel in downtown Amarillo and came across Mi Gente. Did a little bit of reading and it looks like this was a stand-alone food truck but they recently acquired a store front. The menu was intriguing so I figured I'd give it a shot. It was easy to find with the food truck parked right out front, which is where the food is cooked, then brought inside to your table. I was immediately greeted by a fresh modern atmosphere, a very friendly waiter, and super hip Latin American music. They had specials listed on the counter and the Ahi tacos caught my eye. I told the waitress I was torn between the Ahi Tacos and the carnitas and she recommended the Ahi. The tacos were quickly brought out and they were AMAZING. Partway through my meal she brought out a single carnitas taco for me to try since I had asked about them when I first came in. It too was very tasty, but not as good as the Ahi tacos. I finished things up with the Nutella empanadas which were a perfect way to round things out. Chatted with the chef for a minute and he was just as friendly as the waitress. All in all a really great experience. The staff were super friendly and welcoming and the food was probably worth more than it cost considering just how amazing it tasted.

We had the most amazing experience at Mi Gente last night! My husband had the Cuban Sandwich and I had the Carnita Tacos. They were both delicious! We also had their street corn which was out of this world! Chef Paul and his lovely wife, Amber and her sweet aunt were so hospitable and attentive. Their brick and mortar space is so inviting and perfectly clean! It was a great experience all the way around! We can’t wait to tell our friends and return to Mi Gente!

I had the steak fajita eggroll and street corn. My friend ordered asada tacos and nutella empanadas. Everything was served hot. The eggrolls are quite filling. We enjoyed the meal. I loved the atmosphere, and the service was great. I'll definitely be back because I want another eggroll. 😋😃

I don't rave about restaurants often, but this place is amazing!!! My husband and I went for lunch. Everyone was so nice! It wasn't a long wait for the food and the food was AMAZING! Such good flavor! We had empanadas, steak fajita egg rolls, carnitas street corn, and a Cuban sangwish! Go try this place!!

Wow this place is the real deal. I had a long drive ahead of me and wanted to check out the food before leaving town. They sold out and were closing when I was walking in. The owners were very nice and were able to make a carnitas & corn dish for me. Great food. Will be my go to when I’m traveling in Amarillo again.

The whole experience was great and I will definitely be back! All of the food is picture perfect and was so good. We also had their desserts and I 100% recommend the churros you won’t be disappointed. I also say every time you come here to try something new you will love it all.

My girlfriends and I go out to dinner on Wednesday nights. We decided to give Mi Gente a try and we were beyond pleased that we did. Miguel was our waiter....and he was awesome. We each ordered something different so we could try mulitiple dishes. WOW!!!!!! We loved every bite of every selection. Atmosphere was nice. Very open and very clean!!! We are going back next Wednesday. Give it a try! You will love it!!!

The street corn was also a highlight, perfectly prepared and bursting with taste. On top of the fantastic food, the service was truly outstanding. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making for a wonderful dining experience. Mi Gente is a real gem in Amarillo!

We tried this place out for lunch and were positively blown away by how amazing it is! It is definitely a place worth checking out! The service, the ambiance, the food was all absolutely remarkable. The owners came around and checked on us several times, and honestly made the experience that much more enjoyable. The atmosphere in there is adorable with each light fixture, seating, and wall hanging looking like it was meticulously hand-picked to add to the beauty while also not being a distraction. She even explained (after we inquired) that the pictures of the four women on the backwall are all their grandmothers. It was such a beautiful touch, and such a great way to honor the matriarchs of their families! The food was out of this world! We ordered the Cuban sandwich and the camarones al ajillo. Both of which were so delicious! I usually don't love bread and butter pickles, which is what came on the Cuban, but it worked so extremely well with the other flavors! The camarones al ajillo is listed under appetizer and would be a perfect plate to share amongst the table. However, it was also excellent ordered as a meal instead! The price point was a little higher than I would typically spend for a lunch, but the quality of the ingredients was spot on and worth the price! You can tell a lot of love has been poured into this place, and I would highly recommend anyone to try it out!

I tried Mi Gente by Chef Paul today and WOW… absolutely incredible! 🤤🔥 Everything was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The chicken, beans, and sides were amazing. But what really made the experience special was the staff — so friendly and welcoming. The ticket even said we are family now. Felt it! Highly recommend checking them out if you haven’t yet! 🌮🔥🍗

Cute, fun restaurant with wonderful, friendly service and delicious food. I have been craving a good Cuban sandwich since the last time we traveled to Florida, but they are hard to find here. Their Cuban Sanguish was delicious— flavorful, roasted pork, perfectly toasted, and all the elements of a good Cuban sandwich well balanced. We also tried the twice-fried plantains, which were wonderful. We will be back soon!

When you walk in this place you just know these people serve the Lord! Paul and Amber also serve amazing food. I had the Chilaquiles, it was wonderful! Even got a "cool people" 😎 discount! Got a hug from Amber too! Atmosphere is fun, service is great, food is amazing, and the love of God abounds in this place!

New favorite place chef takes his DFW five star restaurant Chef experience to Amarillo serving up dishes that are elegant, and beautiful beautiful to look at yet so delicious incorporating the perfect fusion of Latin American taste in a broad spectrum of flavors. My wife and I had several appetizers and several main dishes (obviously we couldn’t eat them all and will have midnight snacks later lol). Everything was delicious. The atmosphere makes very tasteful, fancy food comfortable and relaxing. Downtown Amarillo gem.

I took my team of 8 ppl for our work lunch and monthly team building. The Owners are always working just as hard as their staff is. They were very attentive, efficient and quick to our needs and request. They warned their maybe a wait but with their hospitality and service there was no wait at all. They went above and beyond to provide us amazing service and the food was AMAZING!! It was presented with such art and flavor we were all above and beyond happy with the food and will definitely be going back many times!!

The food was absolutely phenomenal. I bought the Cuban sandwich, street corn, and Miami rice to sample them. The food to price radio is ridiculous! I left stuffed and now have 3 more meals to eat lol. The service was perfect as well! I will definitely be returning as a regular along with telling my friends about it!

I'll start by saying that I want Mi Gente to succeed and I want to go back. Service and atmosphere were great! My wife and I were greeted at the door (by the owner?) and it felt like she knew who we were even though we had never met. Very welcoming! Our server was Jonathan and he was great! We ordered tostones as an appetizer and loved them! I ordered Carnitas tacos and my wife ordered the Pig Plate. Food was good but portions were a bit small. The carnitas tacos came with 2 tacos and rice and beans. Maybe I've bought into an unwritten rule but I was expecting 3 tacos (should've asked) especially for $15 . The pig plate came with 3 bao buns, 3 slices of pork belly and a fairly large portion of carnitas. We swore that the menu included jasmine rice on the pig plate but it was not delivered to our table. We asked (not Jonathan but the lady who brought our food out) to be sure and were told "No it just comes with bao." We checked the menu after we left just to see if we had made a mistake but rice was listed. Maybe our server got it wrong or maybe someone forgot to update the menu but for $28, we expected a bit more from that plate. Overall a decent experience. Will probably be back to try other things.

Let me just say wow! This location has been many different restaurants and this is by far one of my favorites. The atmosphere was great the managers and staff and was on point! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 was because I thought It was a little odd to have a 7$ up charge to substitute beans which the plate came with to corn. Mind you they are the same price for both sides on the menu, so I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be able to substitute it. Outside of that, wonderful experience and their spicy red sauce is delicious, definitely ask for it!
