At Tanor, we're a humble Middle Eastern eatery nestled in Anaheim's strip malls, serving up flavorful meals and sweet treats with a side of warmth. Our counter-serve operation might be unassuming, but our food is anything but - think tender shawarma and crispy baklava that will transport you to the souks of the East. We've earned rave reviews for our cozy atmosphere, where friendly service and lively conversation flow as freely as our expertly brewed cardamom coffee. Come taste the difference at Tanor, where every bite feels like a warm hug from an old friend.
Tanor is a well-loved spot for authentic Iraqi cuisine, especially their flavorful kabobs, fresh-baked bread, and hummus. Customers rave about the generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly, family-owned atmosphere. Some found the lamb had an aftertaste or chicken dry.
Tip: Go early, especially around 7 PM, to ensure you get a seat, as they sometimes turn away customers near closing. The platter is a great way to sample a variety of dishes.

One of the best meals we had in Anaheim. Everything from the masgouf, beef kabob, and musakhan were incredible. The only thing that could have been better in our opinion was side sauces with the food (they don’t have serve any yogurt or taziki sauce at the restaurant for example). Otherwise highly recommend. We will be back.
Al Tannour Restaurant in Anaheim offers exceptional quality and authentic flavors. Don’t miss their special fish dish, "Zubeidi", and the freshly baked bread, both are outstanding. The staff is welcoming, attentive, and always ensure a great dining experience. Excellent service and highly recommended.
My family and I have been enjoying this restaurant for 10 years. I absolutely loved it. Everything was so flavourful. The service was great and I will definitely be coming back :)
The food is %100 authentic. The taste is amazing delicious. The service is awesome. I highly recommend this place for its simplicity and hospitality. Way to go! Keep the amazing atmosphere and food.
Al Tannour in Anaheim, CA is an authentic Iraqi spot tucked away in a quiet strip mall, but don’t let the unassuming location fool you — this place delivers big flavors. I came here for lunch and ordered the Feast for Two, which turned out to be a generous and flavorful spread. The freshly baked bread is a highlight on its own — soft, warm, and perfect for scooping up the tender, well-seasoned kebabs and skewers that were grilled to perfection. The meat was juicy and full of smoky flavor, clearly made with care. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming and relaxed vibe. The restaurant was clean, with well-maintained restrooms, and parking was easy and free, which is always a plus in Southern California. Overall, Al Tannour impressed on every level — food, service, and atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you discover once and instantly know you’ll be back.
Clean cozy sit down restaurant with some nice decorations. Very friendly staff. I ordered a dish that I didn't know what it was but she explained it to me. I received a small Arabic salad first and then my meal, everything was really good even though it was new to me. I also ordered a large hummus which came with a fresh giant round bread called Iraqi bread which was kind of like pita bread, everything was really good. They have a good amount of options for different dishes to get. Can't wait to go back!
My visit took place on a weekday around 3 PM. First time there. I read good reviews about it & wanted to taste it for myself. We ordered kabob plate & maskhouf fish plate. Both are made in the Iraqi style. The food was extremely tasty & exceeded my expectations to be honest. So authentic & carries very similar taste to the Iraqi restaurants I've visited outside the U.S. The ambience is really nice with Iraqi wall pictures & decoration all over the place. I highly recommend this place
This place has some good reviews and is close to where I live. Decided to try it and was surprised on how good it is. I read several reviews of people getting there near closing and turned away. So I made sure I got there around 7pm where it was early enough to be seated. I ordered the 3 people platter and the babaghanoush. That was plenty of food for myself and 2 other adults. We actually ended up taking at least a full meal home. The nan bread was the size of a large pizza, which was freshly made and had a great flavor. The kabobs were great. I really liked the building of my own meal. My daughter doesn't care for hummus but she tried this hummus and fell in love with it. Needless to say everyone in our party enjoyed the food. I read the negative reviews and a few mentioned the lady with the black hair and how they didn't care for her. I can only assume she was the lady who waited on us and all I can say is the attitude you as a customer present will be what you receive. They were extremely busy the night we went. I had a view of the kitchen and the entire grill was packed with meat cooking. I could tell she was stressed but let her know we were in no hurry. She smiled and thanked us for our patience. She is a very nice lady and all I can say is I would recommend and eat here again. By the way our food was served to us in a very timely manner even with the amount of orders that were coming in online.
Affordable Middle Eastern food that is delicious and tasty. They grill / cook everything you order. The portions are very generous too. They give you a humongous bread with hummus while you wait for your food. They make it from scratch so you will have it to your table straight from the traditional oval type of oven. Complimentary Salad is served too.Drinks are self serve. You get what you want in the fridge near the counter. Owner and the servers are friendly. Plenty of Parking too. Been going here for years and will continue to go back for kabob cravings.
2nd Time here and we love this place. The Fresh Baked bread was delicious. The hummus was freshly made and had great flavor.. All the ingredients were fresh as well.. The meat was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I recommend this place to anyone who is not in a rush and is looking for a traditional middle eastern meal...👍.
I can’t tell you how much I love this place. The decor is so cute everything is fresh I don’t even like hummus, and their hummus is the most amazing thing I’ve ever had bread was good. The service was great. Everyone was really nice and the food was super reasonable. We had a two person platter with six skewers bread two plates of salad all for 38 bucks totally worth it. I’m telling everyone I know about it.
The most incredibly delicious Iraqi food with the nicest owners ever. Get the platter and you’ll be so satisfied! The kabobs here are so tender and the giant naan bread is soft and light and fluffy and the hummus and rice are packed with flavor. Not to mention, all of the food is very affordable and portions are enormous! You won’t regret visiting here! If I could give it ten stars I would. Must try!
The best Iraqi food in California that I have tried. Bread is crazy good and it's freezer with the meal. Family owned and operated and I love it!!

A complete and well deserved 5 star dining experience. Food and service were top notch! Portions are huge. Thank you !!
Very good and clean food Halal Kind service
Absolutely love this place for their delicious dishes. Everything we have tried has been so tasty. We especially love the feast for 4. So much food at a great price. We can't get enough.
I got the platter for two for only $29.99. I had to ask for an extra order of hummus just to load up my pita bread. It was a very good combination of beef and chicken. I would definitely come here again!
One of the best Arabic /Mediterranean restaurants in Orange county, California, if not the Best. I highly recommend the combo or meza to start. The hummus is great and the fresh oven baked bread is heavenly. They offer a great menu and a good selection of food.
Best fish and bread. We love this restaurant and look forward to eating their. The owner works hard and they make the best bread freshly made. I highly recommend this place and the prices are great too.
Wow I wish I can give u more than 5 stars. Best Kabob in town and best tanoor bread. The owner is down to earth and he got the best attitude on earth. I highly recommend this place to all middle eastern food lovers
Genuine Iraqi food for a good price, which is hard to find in California let alone in OC. Highly recommended. Can’t go wrong with the kousi or kabobs here.
One of the best restaurant in Southern California. Very clean food, very polite and nice staff, starts from the waitresses to the owner Mr. Abo Ali. I live more than 70miles away from this restaurant but I’m glad to drive to this place. I swear, if it was closer I would dining in for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. The bread is AWESOME. The Syrian waitress is very polite and very smart. God bless you all. If you add tabbouleh and some olives to the hamms that would be great. Love you guys all.
Great food. Went on a whim, late after a day at Disney. Call ahead to make sure it was OK, and was asked if I wanted 'the fish' becuase it would take 30 minutes. Not knowing what 'the fish' was, just said 'yes'. Ohh yes... What a great yes that turned out to be... When in Anaheim, I will make a point to visit again. Excellent food, reasonable prices, honest hard working owners.
authentic HALAL food and plenty to devour. we ordered 29.99$ plate for two people, and my god it was the best decision we made . a mix of beef skewers, chicken pieces lamb pieces , there was enough rice and lady was kind enough to give us extra Naan pieces freshly out of oven. its 💯HALAL and comes in abundance of rice and kebabs.
Great food and friendly staff. The place is clean and well maintained. You must try the fresh bread...I love the half chicken dish. The area isnt that great but who cares, the food is.
Great tasting authentic Iraqi food! The gentleman that owns this gig reminds me of my father. Fast pace and hard working man. Will visit again soon !
One of the best middle eastern food places I have experienced in the world, literally. Great staff. Ordered 3 person food came with big generous portions. Worth every cent
Food was amazing and the service was outstanding. They made the best Naan and helped explain the menu to a bunch of out-of-towners. We had young kids there and they went out of the way to make them feel welcome and served them the same as the adults. Go here on your next trip!!!
The food in this restaurant is beyond amazing and delicious but i wanted to come on here to say that Waseem is more of a man than i will ever be, if you do not stand for something you will fall for anything, may Allah bless you and all those who stand for what is right and shower you with patience, love and strength ♥️
Nice fresh tasty food Nice service, welcoming staff If they pay a little more attention to the furniture I’ll give them 5 stars for the atmosphere
I tried the Iraqi kebab, it was very good, and I ordered the tandoor bread, which was very delicious. I advise everyone to try this delicious food.
The best I mean for real the best kebab I ever ate in America period no joke this was the best kebab ever I’m from Michigan and you know there is a lot of Arabic restaurants especially the one from Iraq but no they can get close to his kebab no joke
If you love fish and you want to eat a good grilled fish go to Al Tannour. Their grilled fish is so delicious. Always, I am driving from Glendale to Anaheim to eat their fish. The place is so clean and they are so friendly and helpful.
That is the best food I like it fresh bread I love it thanks 🙏
Best Iraqi food in SoCal!! Drove by this place and decided to try it out. Their food is so good!!! The Chicken Kabab is so good and is so flavorful, I love their freshly baked tandoori bread, it is so good. Staff is so awesome, and the restaurant is so clean + they even have an outdoor seating area. Highly recommend!!
AMAZING Mediterranean food! The food and service were very good. Our server, Reena explained some menu items to us and was very sweet! My husband and I shared a family style platter and everything was very tasty! They serve very large portions and everything was very fresh. With the platter they serve a giant fresh baked bread with hummus and salad. The main course was rice and different types of skewer kabobs. The food was excellent! The prices are very reasonable...this is a great place! Must try!
This is the best restaurant in Anaheim or Mediterranean food the hummus it’s amazing the bread it’s so fresh and delicious salad. It’s really tasty. The owners of that place make you feel really welcome. I totally recommend this place.
This place is so good. We ordered the Tashreeb and the Musakhan. The Tashreeb was great 8/10, but the Musakhan was otherworldly. I could not stop eating it. Absolutely massive bread fully packed with onions, nuts and delicious spices. The chicken was great too, and they even gave us a garlic sauce to go with it. A great amount of food for what we payed, 10/10 would recommend.
Food here always smashes. Authentic Iraqi/middle eastern cooked to order. All ingredients are fresh and dishes made from scratch. The tannour bread is amazing and masgouf probably makes Iraqi expats feel they're back home. Service is very friendly and accommodating. Wish they put a little bit more into the vibe inside but it is very clean.
Great food, try the kabab with Iraqi bread, hummus was great, Iraqi bread waw. Update couple years later , the chef keep surprises me with The authentic very genuine iraqi dishes , way better than The best restaurants in Baghdad, who knew, Abo Ali is very dedicated and very consistent, food cooked in heaven and I visited him today during ramadhan Fottor at 7 pm open Buffets and it worth every dollar. Hands down best restuenant in California that server authentic Mediterranean with iraqi flavor . Every small details is looked and counted . If you wanna try food from heaven this is the place. Thank you all to those work in Al tanoor restaurants.. I'm grateful..I enjoyed every second and I'm full . Can't eat any more, kitty you don't have branch in az, your place is a must visit to all who come to cali,
I wasn't sure about this place after reading reviews about the service issue I guess they had but we were treated quite nicely. Moreover; The food was amazing. We ordered the 2 person meal with chicken and steak kabobs, salad and bread with some garlic butter and some really incredible pomegranate salad dressing. The meal was epic. The only thing that had me worried was the area in which it was located. Lots of hookers and sketchy gang member-types lurking about. Otherwise, this place was on point with their food quality and service. I will definitely go back there take any risk in order to have their food again. Great job!
The food here is great! I got the Feast for Three and it was big enough to feed 6 people really. Everything was fresh and taste was great. I was surprised at how good the hummus was. Also the bread is baked fresh and you can't go wrong with that.
The food was good, nothing exceptional or anything like that, but the bonus was the huge round hot flat bread that came with it. The real reason I am giving it a five star review is the energy. I walked in, there were not even many people, but I felt a sense of peace inside this place. I don’t know it’s weird to explain but it has a serene, alive energy
Good food, fast service. Portions will vary and depend on how many people are eating. They have platters for 1,2,3,4 people. Three food is very good and the place is clean. Service with a smile and good prices. You must try their bread, its made on the spot and is fresh!
My family and I first discovered this restaurant a few years ago. We were actually on our way to a different restaurant and we spotted it - and have gone back religiously ever since. The food is amazing - some of the best hummus we have ever had - the chicken Tekka is tender and deliciously seasoned and the bread - I swear eating that bread is a religious experience! Positively amazing. We love this place, love the people and will continue to go back as often as possible.
Delicious and authentic Iraqi food in a casual setting. My dad ordered the Feast For 3 combo, which included rice, kabob, and chicken tikka, and everything tasted flavorful. Service is quick and the staff is very kind.
All I can say is wow. This is by far the best middle Eastern food I've had at any restaurant. Amazing bread, hummus and everything I ordered. I got the khouzi, which is lamb over rice and came with Lima beans stew. Absolutely fantastic. Service is as great as the food, I asked for something that was not in the menu and they offered to make it for me and it was so good. I love this place and will be back regularly.
We called in about 30 minutes before closing and they were able to accommodate us for a to-go meal. We got the feast for 2 and it was more food than my family of 4 could eat. It was super tasty and the staff were great.
Easily one of the best Mediterranean foods I've ever had. Please try the hummus and bread, divine. The beef kabob and lamb is fantastic, definitely want to go again. Please try!!
The food is delicious 😋 the service wonderful the lady that was helping me and my family was wonderful her name is Rana I believe she was very nice and making sure we we where very satisfied with the food and service I highly recommend this place the food and the waitress are 💯 good.
I love their giant bread it is exquisite and Beautiful I am not a fan of their hummus or toum in particular but that's just me 🙁
I like their food the kabobs and grilled fish are very tasty I normally dont like salads but their Arabic salad is something I usually go for, just good food above all also try their lamb dishes just glad this restaurant is around the corner. Food are definitely not expensive its very affordable
Ali & Rene are both wonderful people and are the reason Al Tannour is so awesome. The food is so flavorful and delicious. I highly recommend this one!
Great food, Falafel and kabab was delicious. Good customer service, fast service at reasonable price. Recommended
My girlfriend and I tried this place for the first time tonight. The feast for two was the perfect choice. The marinade on the chicken was so tasty. Highly suggest the fresh oven-baked bread too. We will be back for sure.

Al Tannour in Anaheim is a decent spot for Middle Eastern food. The menu has a good variety, and the portions are fair for the price. The food was good but not so falvorful. I liked the fresh Tannour bread. Service was fine, nothing exceptional, but not bad either. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, making it a good option for a quick meal if you’re in the area. Overall, it’s an okay experience and worth trying once.
Food is great, place is clean, staff and owner is friendly. The lamb has a little bit of after taste but it’s alright. Chicken and beef kabob was awesome tasting. My dad loves coming back here because it reminds him of the taste of Saudi Arabia. They also serve a bunch of other things too. Recommend this place, a hidden gem. Accessible to disabled as well.
If you are looking for an authentic hole in the wall, this is a perfect stop. I'm giving 4 stars because they didn't have anything for vegetarians and chicken kabob was dry. Other than that, everything was amazing. We got feast for 3 that included ground beef and 2 chicken kabobs (ground and cubes). Ground chicken kabob was one of the best I've had. It was juicy and filled with good favor. The owner himself recommend their baked fish plate which was top notch. For fish lovers, it's a must try. Their pita bread is another hit. I didn't see, but it looked and tasted as they were fresh baked in tandoor clay oven. If I lived close by, I'd go just to get their pita bread. We also got Hummus and baba ghanoush. Hummus was creamy and tasty, slightly on a sour side. Baba ghanoush was just perfect. With fresh bread they serve, you can't beat the taste and quality. Their side salad can be improved. It had a lot of sumac, but was pretty bland. I'm looking forward to going back soon.

Food here is super good and the feast for four feeds 6 people in my family. Service is also pretty quick. Only thing is the workers sometimes don’t wear masks or wear gloves when handling food ://
The food for takeout was good. We had eggplant, meatballs and lamb. Naan was quite nice. Kir dessert was a bit sweet for me but my hubby loved it. The name is confusing? It is listed as Al Tannour but the sign on the building said IndiaTable.
Overall great. Food is delicious. The ramadan buffet is hectic and they run out of food before you get your turn. So that sucks. Didnt get any chicken kabobs or lamb in my rice.
This restaurant has always been very consistent with their food. Their meats are tender and delicious, marinated to perfection. Their sides are great, but I've given them a 4 instead of five stars because their rice is also consistent...very dry and rather tasteless. I find that unfortunate because half your plate is filled with the rice. I can't say enough about their wonderful hot and delicious, freshly made for each order, of bread, which comes with their great hummus and baba ghanoush. The huge round of bread is so big that it hangs over any plate or dish you have. Tear off a piece, scoop up some hummus or baba and you're right in a little cafe in the Middle East! It's to die for!!! Over all, I highly recommend you go there. Try their Chicken Tekka, chicken breast kabobs, flame broiled and juicy! It's a trip worth making!!!
While in the area, we chose to revisit this establishment—one I had dined at several years prior. Given the passage of time, I arrived with a neutral palate and no particular expectations. We entered around 3:30 PM, during a lull in service when the restaurant was entirely empty, offering a quiet and undistracted setting to assess the experience. We opted for the “Feast for Two,” supplemented with the Quzi lamb over rice. The feast is accompanied by a generous portion of hummus and freshly baked Iraqi bread, which was delivered to the table piping hot and delightfully crisp around the edges. This bread was, without exaggeration, exceptional—aromatic, texturally perfect, and the ideal vehicle for the hummus. Speaking of the hummus, it was a standout element of the meal. It boasted a velvety, smooth consistency with a refined balance of tahini, lemon, and garlic—a testament to both technique and ingredient quality. Among the grilled items, the beef kabob was particularly well-executed: tender, juicy, and deeply seasoned, with a satisfying char from the grill. Unfortunately, the poultry offerings were less impressive. Both the chicken tikka and chicken kabob lacked the succulence and depth of flavor one would hope for. They exhibited a texture and taste that suggested they may have been previously frozen, detracting from the overall composition of the platter. In contrast, the Quzi lamb was a return to form—fall-apart tender, richly seasoned, and served over a bed of fragrant rice that absorbed the meat’s juices beautifully. This dish, traditionally a cornerstone of Iraqi cuisine, was done justice here. The accompanying fasolia (white beans in tomato broth) was superb—comforting, well-seasoned, and executed with finesse. One minor misstep: we received an additional bowl of bamya (okra stew), which we had not ordered, and were subsequently charged for it. While the error was small, it speaks to an oversight in service that could be easily remedied. That said, the staff—particularly the women attending the front of house—were warm, gracious, and attentive, contributing to an overall welcoming atmosphere. In summary, while a few inconsistencies were present, the highlights—namely the bread, hummus, beef kabob, and Quzi—demonstrated authentic craftsmanship and depth of flavor. With some refinement, particularly in the poultry offerings and billing attentiveness, this establishment has the potential to fully realize its culinary promise.

It is the first time for me to visit this restaurant. The service is relatively good, with a lack of professionalism in the reception or table service and cleanliness. With all my regret, I give it one star or less. There are some negative remarks about the service as a whole...the most disturbing of which is the cleanliness and lack of professional handling in the service, as I mentioned earlier… Thanks
Bread is tasty. They make every effort to push pricey items. For example we asked for a sandwich server told us that they ate not serving sandwiches and when we told her it is on the menu it took her 5 min. to go inside "conference with owner" and agreed to sell us sandwiches instead of kebab plate they were trying to push on us. Over all no one smiles in there I did not feel positive vibes.
We walked in around 6:30pm, but the place doesn't close until 8:30pm and they refused to serve or sit us. They told us the place was closed, but when the party behind us went up to the front, they welcomed them with open arms. It could be that they are racist. My experience was horrible. I drove 30 minutes to get a door slammed in my face. Don't eat here.
The man who picked up the phone yesterday was very rude
They have the one of the best bread I ever had, but food wasn’t there and service was awful
"I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated with my and family recent experience at AlTanoor restaurant . The prices were exorbitant, the food was subpar, and the smell of chicken and fish. To make matters worse, I visited during Ramadan, and it seemed like everyone who ate there got sadness including myself. The stomach issues were relentless, and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Given the restaurant's poor food quality, bad smell, and questionable hygiene practices, I strongly advise against dining here, especially during Ramadan. Save your money, and more importantly, protect your health.
Well, I wish I could comment on the food but I cannot because I was turned away. Google says they close at 9 p.m., but for some reason, when I walked in at 8:25 p.m. they told me they were closed. I guess they do not need the business, but from the looks of the place, I'd say they do. The lady was rude, she told me in a condescending way "sorry, we're closed." I could understand if I walked in at 8:50 or 8:55 p.m., but they should have had plenty of time. If they are closing early that is one thing, but they should have said they were closing early. Also, google says they close at 9 p.m., so if that is incorrect, they should correct it. Finally, I ended up spending my money at the birria place next door. When I left with my order, the middle eastern place still had their doors wide open. If they are closed, they should close the door and lock it. I am not sure if they are racist or something, but did not serve me when they had plenty of time to. I am white and my boyfriend who they do not know is middle eastern. He owns his own restaurant and I was looking forward to seeing if the food is as good as his because I was craving it but his restaurant is already closed and far away for me. I am sure his is better anyways. If anyone is in the San Fernando Valley, I will give you his location to try. I'm sure the food is way better and the place is definitely cleaner and the customer service is way better.
The staff were rude and provided bad customer service.
Terrible customer service and poor communication. The food was overpriced for the quality. I ordered a beef kabob plate for $9.99 that came with no rice and to add rice it's $4 extra. Plus no hummus or tahini to accompany it which is an additional charge of $4. The kabob itself didn't have a good flavor. The only thing appetizing was their bread. Sahara falafel is much better. They give you a large portion for a reasonable price including rice and hummus and pita. The staff is friendlier and the food quality is 10x better especially the lamb kabobs and sandwiches
They have the worst customer service and Karen lady at the front register is very rude with bad attitude . They brought the wrong food instead of apologizing she was super rude and blaming us for it. I will never visit pathetic place again
Be careful! This is the worst restaurant I have been to in Anaheim. Service is bad. Altitude is bad. They are not welcoming. Food is not fresh. They lied about the cashier machine not working so they said they can't print out a receipt, but the fact is that they want you to pay without a receipt so they can avoid to pay taxes. Worst manners overall.
Not worth it to go back again to this place , very cold food , not even heat it up , bad Service not worth it to spend the money here at all
I was really looking forward to trying this place, especially the maskouf fish. Unfortunately, it completely missed the mark. The fish was dull, lacked flavor, and had none of the smoky, seasoned richness. For the price I paid, the portion size was surprisingly small too. The salad served alongside felt not fresh, and honestly a bit cheap-tasting. But what bothered me most wasn’t the food it was the atmosphere. I witnessed the owner speaking rudely to one of the workers, and it left a really bad taste in my mouth. No matter how good a meal might be (which it wasn’t in this case), seeing staff treated poorly makes the whole experience uncomfortable. I won’t be coming back.
