This is our go to place 100% great service, excellent black and more fancy coffee. The staff are amazing! Love the pastries/ treats as well!
Ok hands down best customer service and cinnamon roles ever !! It's not overly sweet dripping in frosting. It is the perfect type of sweet, goes well with the delicious coffee. I don't know where they find these amazing cashiers/servers but all of them I encountered have been so polite. You don't see this everywhere! Their hiring is on point!👌
I can't say enough good things about this place. So lively, great community, customer service is absolutely 💯 👌. Mya served us and was so helpful by explaining all the drinks to me and all of their Fall specials.
Great coffee roasters with a small but good food menu. For breakfast I like their cafe latte and Belgian waffle which I believe is made to order. Their tea lattes are good too, the chai mix is sweet but not their matcha unless you ask for it. They also just added bagels and Gunther's ice cream which I'm excited to try soon! They also sell beans and some coffee brewing equipment like the aeropress.
This place is really great! Its so open and spacious for seating. Its very clean inside. I had the nitro infused coffee and it was by far the best I've ever had! Some of the staff were a bit stiff and not interested in the customers but i have to leave 5 stars for how good the coffee was and the atmosphere inside.
Tried it for the first time the other day, of course I had to be basic and get the pumpkin chai cause it's hoa hoa hoa season even though it's still 90 degrees outside. But I would definitely come here again
This place is amazing. I bike past it every morning to work, but it's always closed during that hour. I was excited to see them at the downtown may is bike fest the past two years where they support bikers and offer the best cold brew coffee I've ever tasted. I've even bought a bike jersey and bib shorts this year and honestly fits more comfortable than all my other biking shorts and jerseys. I can't believe I have been biking their jersey all year but never officially visited until today. Did a coffee date with the wife and was greeted by the sweetest lady at the register. She was so helpful, honestly it felt more like meeting family. Not only was the service first class, the coffee was hands down the best cup I've had all year. They also have a area where you can buy gifts for the holidays. They had a nice biking water bottle that I'm definitely going back for. Can't wait to go back for another cup of coffee!
This is the 2nd out of 3 C.fish locations and its really cool they didn't go the cookie cutter route to stick to the winning formula. These guys have their own industrial roast equipment + the bean bags that look like they came fresh off the boat to match. The waterpipe lights & quality wood counter/desk/seats really make you want to stay off your phone to appreciate your surroundings. I had the macchiato&mocha (1/2 chocolate) and they were great. In my opinion what really makes or breaks cafes are the baristas, and Lucas,Phoenix, &Ted are what makes my review 5+ stars. You cant have 3rd wave coffee without 1st class baristas and from the ordering with phoenix to the brewing with lucas and serving with ted i was able to relax with the comfort of knowing my coffee was going to be prepared the way it was intended to be. Unrelated but i even caught ted walking around the counter to save a customer those few steps and serve him his avocado toast with both hands out and a smile. I come from humble beginnings im talking dine in Styrofoam plates slapped on the dirty counter and paper cups with orders being yelled like an McDonald's so im like peele's character with the continental breakfast lol. I didn't upload any pics of the place because i don't want to spoil the experience. Go enjoy it for yourselves! Definitely coming back here Tuesdays/Thursdays to see the coffee get roasted in person :)
Coffee was excellent. Had a scone with my beverage and it was good. Good atmosphere.
Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Went there during down time and was greeted immediately by a staff member. I'm no coffee connoisseur but their coffee tastes great regardless. Might be my new favorite coffee place. Only con is that they have no wifi, so I won't be able to do work here.
Chocolate Fish is one of my favorite coffee roasters. They always have something I enjoy and regardless of which location the staff always treats me well.
Coffee Roasters in East Sacramento is one of those places you keep coming back to. The coffee is excellent, and what makes it even better is that they roast their own beans, so everything tastes fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed — perfect for meeting friends or just enjoying a quiet cup of coffee. Great drinks, great vibe, and people who clearly care about what they do.
Top notch. Pumpkin chai was divine. Avocado toast amazing too. Very welcoming and professional baristas. Was given a small taster of the iced vanilla matcha latte when I asked her about what she was making. Will be back!
Solid good coffee! Not only the barista is a master at her craft when steaming milk, our flat whites were both creamy, showing consistency in technique, and the espresso shot was present in the drink, no signs of the coffee being too roastes (burnt) nor acidity in mout, so very happy with it. The coffee beans we got for filter method turned out great! Balanced and juicy in cup, and quality price ratio was fantastic! The flat white is a bit overpriced, but I guess that just cause it's the US/California. Will 100% go back!
I saw the name of this coffee shop and I just had to check it out 😃. I love chocolate and coffee - so win-win here. The place is very modern feeling with nice vista-like decorations on the walls. There is a huge coffee roasting machine which definitely adds a sense of where we are. They have the standard set of drinks that one would expect in a coffee shop, they are quite good and have good attention to detail; nice latte art and a good coffee flavor. There are a number of pastries on display, including actual chocolate fish as a homage to the name of the place. They have a number of types of toasts as well so this is a good place to enjoy a coffee and some other tasty food bite to start off the day. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside, in fact the outside patio has a lot of character to it and looks very comfortable to sit with friends or a lover and enjoy a relaxing time sipping your favorite drink. The service was excellent and the baristas were very friendly and accommodating. They had no problem with special requests that I had.
The name of this place is kinda odd.lol I can’t think of a reason why it’s called chocolate fish. But, (Anything before “but” doesn’t really matter), this place is AMAZING. Respect to all the coffee shops/cafes who serve little food options. I loved their fresh avocado toast. Having that on the menu is a game changer. Great coffee, interior is nice, clean and the staff is super friendly. You could see the roasting area and sacks of coffee inside. Nice little patio area as well. You earned my loyalty and five stars!! I’ll be back for more avocado toast and coffee :)
This is one of the coffee shops I very frequently visit because they have good coffee, delicious treats and very friendly staff. Coffee is amazing. We have two drinks today. Nitro cold brew is smooth and refreshing. Latte is beautifully crafted and perfectly creamy. For food, we have delicious avocado toast from the kitchen. I like it with eggs on them. More textures and flavors. If you want something sweet, they have lots of baked goods. I really like the chocolate chip cookie paring with the nitro cold brew. Deep coffee flavor goes well with sweet cookie. The banana bread is sooo good too. Very soft and not too sweet. Because it’s is not too sweet I think it goes well with a creamier drink like a latte. The place is also an onsite roaster so the space is very open. I wish to see coffee roasting one day while enjoying my coffee. Staff are very good at their craft. Coffees are expertly crafted. Service is also very attentive. We had a walnut allergy question regarding the banana bread. The staff wanted to double check and referred to the ingredients to make sure no walnuts are in them. We really appreciate the attention to detail. Love this coffee place.
I got the cherry lavender latte. I believe it’s on there seasonal drinks or something like that. It was so delicious and the guy taking my order was so patient because I don’t drink a lot of coffee so I don’t know a lot about coffee, but he was very sweet and very caring and just a very overall cute place to have coffee at.
Amazing find! I recommend the Roslyn for any herbal lovers
Chocolate fish is hands down the best coffee I've ever had. Probably why it's rated number two coffee roasters in America. Staff was friendly, vibes were nice, coffee was excellent and food was amazing. I had a simple vanilla iced coffee and a almond butter banana toast. I recommend both of those. The coffee seem to be low in acidity and very smooth. Just the way I like it.
Outstanding white mocha, Contemporary & cool ambiance. The espresso has a rich roasted flavor without being overly dark. Sweetness level was perfect in the smaller size. The nitro "morning beer" is rare & unique; I havent had coffee like this at any other cafe. BEST nitro coffee I've tasted, and I've tasted many. It's truly creamy, not too strong, not too weak. Everything was surprisingly delicious (including almond croissant) and it was an enjoyable experience. I will definitely come back.

Enjoyed coffee and teas this visit. Their beans by the bag for home are delicious 😋. Roasted in Sacramento! Love my SacTown.
These guys live up to their namesake! I consider myself a mocha guy, and it's what I get most often at most roasters/coffee shops. Chocolate Fish executed the BEST mocha that I've ever had the pleasure of drinking. I was not prepared for how delicious their Roché mocha (Hazelnut, chocolate + cocoa nibs & something else I can't recall) is!!! I will be back soon enough to indulge in another one of these wonderful drinks. Keep it up y'all! ❤️
I have never actually been here but I was gifted a Koru Espresso bean coffee from here. It was phenomenal and I cannot go back to store coffee. They deliver and you can adjust amount and frequency. Try it and I know you will be impressed.
After a weekend of trying different coffee roasters throughout Sacramento, this was our final stop. Excellent and neck and neck with Pachamama. The baristas take pride in their profession and produce an amazing cup!
Took the espresso class here with Victoria, and she was so awesome!!! Learned so much and had a blast! Highly recommend!
This is my favorite local Sacramento coffee shop. The chai latte is the best I've ever had. The concentrate is made by a small batch local company. Talk about support local. This is the real deal. We also enjoy going to the Freeport location and grabbing some donuts from Marie's.

Fixins Soul Kitchen was a nice spot to grab a bite with friends, and I especially enjoyed their mac and cheese - it was super creamy and cheesy.

Coffee was great, just wish I knew there was no WiFi or outlets before coming here. The explanation I got from the workers was that this place was designed for socializing but I came on my own.. so, yea. Seems like a hot spot for older folks. Great place to go out on a date if you can get past the smell of burnt-ness, which is probably from the coffee roasting (really cool idea though, maybe a glass screened window would solve this or just better ventilation). All in all, highly recommended but I will personally go to the other location next time if I’m working or studying. Will keep this place in mind for group outings. -Eric
Small vibrant coffee shop offering decent selections of coffee, pastry, and light food. Indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of parking behind the building and on the street. One drawback was the lack of comfortable seating space to sit for a long time and enjoy reading or doing work. Steady stream of customers coming in during the one hour or so Sunday morning i was there.
Delicious quality coffee!! Atmosphere is not my favorite, uncomfortable, limited seating, industrial vibes. Excellent coffee I love taking it to go. Flat white is delicious. Steep charge for non dairy milk- currently $1.10
Good coffee and the food choices were very tasty! Service was great! Nice location with out door seating.

The coffee from here tastes fine and maybe is better enjoyed as takeout, as the seats arent as comfortable for studying. Also, no wifi. No outlets. It's just several times I've gone here, the service could be improved. Barista made my drink wrong and when I asked to confirm if they forgot my vanilla, the barista was confused and didn't even address my concerns and then went elsewhere. I waited around and then someone else poured in some syrup at the counter and then told me to stir it myself. I didn't like how I felt unwelcomed, especially after paying $7 for a latte. Maybe they were still training new people or it was an off day.
I'm not sure why people love the avocado toast. It was more like an avocado spread on sourdough. The sourdough was good, the avocado spread is unimpressive. It was even sad to look at and I didn't bother taking a photo. Coffee is decent but compared to what's offered for coffee in Sacto generally it's not special. It's the vibes of this place that is all star. Service is friendly and smiley. Lots of seating choices, warm and inviting and unpretentious.
Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters – Just Another Hipster Coffee Spot Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters is fine, but honestly, it’s just another trendy hipster coffee shop with nothing that really sets it apart. The vibe is exactly what you’d expect—minimalist decor, overpriced drinks, and a menu that feels like every other specialty coffee spot in town. The coffee itself? Mid. It’s not bad, but it’s nothing special either. For the price, I was expecting something more memorable, but it was just average at best. If you’re into the whole hipster coffee scene, you might enjoy it, but if you’re looking for something unique or truly outstanding, this isn’t it. Not terrible, not amazing—just okay.
Good coffee but just an embarrassingly long time for our coffee to come and I got a cold brew. They just put it in the line with all the espresso drinks and there is zero since of urgency to make the drink. Its not due to being busy its simply a lack of making the effort... and it's all the time.
