Magnífico sitio para comer un buen cocido Maragato y reponer fuerzas después de una etapa del camino. La atención del personal espectacular, la comida muy muy rica, destacar la sopa. La anfitriona nos trato como si fuésemos de su familia. Muchas gracias

Qué ganas teníamos de probar el cocido maragato, somos fans de la comida tradicional. Trás visitar la catedral y dar un paseo llamamos para reservar mesa.Sin problema. El local estaba lleno pero tuvimos hueco, 5 personas. No decepciona en absoluto, el trato familiar, Santiago un encanto de persona y su hija estuvo hablando con nosotros de la elaboración del cocido y de la tradición del mismo. Sin duda, un gran acierto. El precio 33€ por persona incluido el vino, agua, pan y postre, las natillas de escándalo. Vivimos la tristeza y la frustración por los incendios. Ánimo y fuerza para toda esa preciosa tierra.

Cuando algo se hace con amor, se nota. Tendría que haber más sitios así. Entramos sin conocerlo en uno de los varios restaurantes con muy buenas valoraciones. De menú, cocido maragato. A partir de ahí, todo felicidad. El personal genial, del primero al último, siempre atentos y nunca molestos. El vino, un perfecto acompañante. El cocido... sólo puedo decir SUBLIME. MARAVILLOSO. Las carnes, todas cocinadas en su punto justo y muy equilibradas (nada fácil). Los garbanzos, la sopa, las natillas... todo simplemente de 10. Y cuando el padre del negocio te da un abrazo, simplemente por disfrutar de su comida, ves que no estás en un sitio cualquiera. FELICIDADES POR ESTA OBRA DE ARTE.

Acudimos por consejo de una amiga. No soy de poner 5 estrellas, pero en este caso pondría 6.... El lugar es precioso, coqueto y muy bien decorado. La comida, en nuestro caso cocido maragato.... Primero las carnes , soberbias , variadas y de calidad excelente. Después los garbanzos.... pura mantequilla deliciosos... La sopa.... auténtica maravilla de sabor y texturas. Natillas...colofón a la orgia de sabores. Me parece espectacular el trato recibido, en atención, simpátia y cariño. 20/10 ... Precio hasta bajo para la experiencia.

Un lugar maravilloso para comer: Fuimos hace unos meses de viaje y siempre probamos la comida típica que tenemos tan estupenda en los pueblos y ciudades de España y no nos defraudó: Santiago y su hija son muy cercanos y nos sentimos como en casa, y qué decir del cocido Maragato, una maravilla que hay que venir a probar a este restaurante, y las natillas de postre espectaculares. Te vas de allí rodando y con una satisfacción de haberte comido un cocido magnífico y el mejor de España. Sin duda cuando podamos volver, repetiremos.

Muy buena experiencia con el cocido maragato, lleno de tradición y sabor en cada bocado. El servicio ha sido ágil y atento. Precio del menú cerrado 33€ por comensal con bebida, postre y café. Sin duda recomendable.

Excelente cocido al estilo Maragato el que se puede degustar en este restaurante en Astorga. El local no es demasiado grande tiene una pequeña terraza y esta cerca e la Catedral de Astorga en una zona peatonal. Del cocido yo destacaría los garbanzos. En su punto de cocción, son manteca y están deliciosos. La sopa esta muy buena también. De sabor potente pero sin grasa. Para terminar unas excelentes natillas. El servicio y la simpatia de los dueños es otro punto muy a favor para elegir este local para comer un buen cocido Maragato. Recomendable reservar, suele haber dos turnos de comida.

Posiblemente el mejor restaurante en el que he estado hasta ahora. Con el cocido entra también postre, café de puchero y bebida (agua y vino). De lo que van sirviendo en todo momento todos los camareros muy atentos por si queríamos repetir (no habíamos terminado los platos y ya estaban reponiendo lo que faltase, no hacía falta ni pedirlo). El dueño merece una mención aparte, amable y cariñoso. Vinimos a este sitio por las buenas reseñas y porque nos apetecía comer un buen cocido. Acudimos al restaurante por las buenas reseñas pero este restaurante es insuperable en cuanto atención y calidad. IMPRESIONANTE, las comidas hechas con amor y cariño se notan. Los camareros siempre atentos y ofreciendo si quieres repetir de cualquier plato del cocido Maragato. We had an amazing lunch outside past Sunday. They welcomed us with open arms (our dog too) and explained the concept very well. For 28 euro pp you have the best lunch you can imagine. The cocido Maragato comes in reverse order and it is soooooo tasty. The menu also includes water, wine & dessert!

Best place I ate on the Camino, I had this great tomato appetizer to start, then a bunch of different types of meats, bread, wine and water, chickpeas with cabbage, soup and a delicious dessert with coffee. All for €28. It was so good, hard to pick a favorite but all amazing. Definitely make a reservation, I saw many people being turned away. I was lucky to get a table without a reservation but I got there 10 minutes after they opened.

This restaurant is in Astorga, León, Spain. We called on our way home from Lugo to Madrid. They graciously accommodated our party off 11 even though they were almost full. The place seats about 70. My daughter had the trout which was delicious. The rest of us shared their signature dish which is the Cocido Maragato. The cocido was delicious. The owners and the waiter were very attentive to us and the rest of the tables. They were generous in offering to refill all courses of the Cocido (meats, garbanzos, repollo, sopa de fideo). The garbanzos were like butter. Since we ordered the menu, we also had wine (opened tableside, we had two Riojas), dessert and coffee. The dessert, natilla and roscón, was just right as well; not too sweet. The settings of white linens and white plates added an extra elegance. They had to turn away at least 10 other parties while we dined. It's nice to see that they take pride in the quality and service above profits because they could easily fill a place twice the size.

A delicious family-run restaurant. Make a reservation or be early as it gets full. Their typical ‘cocido maragato’ is amazing. 3 steps, all included, meats/veggies(chickpeas and cabbage)/soup served in this order (reverse of normally expected, based on traditions). Meats are OK, but chickpeas and soup are amazing. And you should meet fascinating Sr. Santiago, the father of the restaurant. If you are lucky, you can learn his special secret recipe of chickpeas to cook at home.

Excellent food, great value, kind attentive service Wonderful and hearty meal. Had the Cocido set meal. It was filling for a hungry pilgrim! Tomato, olive oil and bread, Cocido meat plate, followed by chickpeas and cabbage, then soup, then dessert. Wine and water included. Service was excellent and very attentive. They get busy over lunch and seems to be a popular place, well-deserved!

Review of the food: nothing great. I don’t know why all the overwhelmingly positive reviews of the food but it was decidedly average and one note? I mean I don’t know how this version of the Cocido Maragado compares to other restaurants but quite frankly the dish kind of stinks. I don’t like the dish. Maybe if you are a fan of plain meat stews it works… but I personally need more dimension in my food. Some acid? More salt? What about heat? Etc. This was one boring meaty note. The chickpeas were the same note. The tomatoes- not enough. The price per person also felt a bit high compared to other menus available. I would have preferred lower cost and smaller portions. There was no way the three of us could wolf down what was presented. The service on the other hand was impeccable. The owner is suchhhhh a host! He was so friendly, sweet, visiting all the tables etc. Can’t complain there. So bottom line: if you like boiled meat, go for it. Otherwise, there is not much I can commend on the food. It wasn’t bad, don’t get me wrong, but I just would not return and am surprised by the overwhelming, consistent praise.

I’m sorry but this food was like cafeteria fare. The meat was slow cooked but tough and tasteless. Cooked long and slow enough to remove all the flavor. Same with the chickpea and cabbage course. Overcooked and mushy. The soup was tasty. It was the coffee in the end that was the last straw. Luke warm. I mean, really? This is a baby Michelin? The wine and sliced tomatoes at the beginning were wonderful and held so much promise. Service was nice.
