Opiniones de East Side King Austin
I recently visited the East Side King food truck located at High Noon Bar in Austin, Texas, and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. The food was fantastic and the service was top-notch, with special thanks to Zach who really went out of his way to make sure I enjoyed my experience. The Brussels sprouts were phenomenal, and their pork belly bites were exceptional too. The portions were generous and very reasonably priced. Overall, I highly recommend the East Side King food truck for anyone in the Austin area looking for a delicious meal and a great experience. Zach was a great help in guiding me through their menu and ensuring that I had a fantastic time. I'm sure he's an asset to the team and an outstanding employee who represents the business well.
My boyfriend and I came here after the Kings of Lion concert thinking we’d get some quick food then leave. Little did we know we would be eating some of the BEST food in Austin at one of the most vibing bars!! We ended up staying 3 hours when planned to only be there for 30 min tops.. definitely a place to get high quality eats, superb drinks and quality people/service!! 10/10!!!
East Side King has remained one of my favorite Austin food spots since I tried their brussels sprouts salad at ACL in 2016 (the brussels salad is also one of my favorite renditions of brussels sprouts *ever*). Just last night I had the pleasure of meeting Cesar who was running the truck, and he was so kind, telling us background about the dishes/recipes and allowing us to try the curry (going so far as to give us a small container of it when we loved it but ultimately ordered another dish). Incredible food served by wonderful people. If you’re on the east side, you must try. And if you’re not on the east side, make it over there. Oh and lots of gluten free/veggie options!
The attention to detail in this food is very noticeable. The avocado and onions are perfectly crisp. The beets are salted right out of the fryer. The buns are chewy yet sturdy enough to hold their filling. From the garnishes to the accompanying sauces, this food is thoughtful and delicious. 10/10 would recommend.
If you love a grubbin hole in the wall, with fantastic food, the best customer service, and some super cool art just for a cherry on top, this is your spot. I wish I would’ve taken a picture of our dishes, alas, they were devoured. Rita helped me navigate the menu, and was so patient & sweet, and on a Friday night. Not to mention she’s a work of art herself! Can’t wait to go back!
Paul Qui crushed it (again). Gorgeous, welcoming interior space, with an amazing patio, and food that just kept getting better with every bite. We let the waiter take the lead and loved every single dish. Service was next level. So, so good.
The food was really good!! I had the fried chicken sandwich, and the fried beets. The chicken was bigger than the bun, which was a huge plus! I love whenever that happens. Beets were cooked perfectly and paired extremely well with the spicy mayo. I will definitely try this place again next time im at High Noon.
Woah. Wasn’t expecting to have the best karage of my life but it happened. Seriously. Was going to go for the pork belly buns but the lady behind the counter recommended these and I am so glad she did!!!! Right amount of spice, fresh basil, beautifully crisp, and so much flavor! Do it. Get the karage!!!!!
Love it here! The sushi, atmosphere and service was awesome! Beautiful aesthetic! Robert was kind and explained to us the hand roll concept. My top favorite was the hamachi crudo and second came the toro cashew. I highly recommend the scallop and spicy tuna handrolls. All handrolls tasted fresh! 10/10 would come back.
Kitsu Nori on South Lamar is an absolute gem. We went for dinner and had the most amazing, romantic evening. The ambiance is intimate and modern, with the perfect lighting and vibe for a date night. Every dish was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. You can really taste the quality in the sushi and hand rolls — everything was flavorful, balanced, and crafted with care. The service was attentive without being intrusive, which made the night feel even more special. If you’re looking for a romantic dinner spot in Austin with incredible sushi and a cozy atmosphere, Kitsu Nori is a must. We’ll definitely be back.
I came here the other day with a friend because we wanted to try somewhere new in the area, and I’m so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, I loved the speakeasy vibe. There’s not a big flashy sign out front — you kind of enter through the back patio, which honestly made it feel even cooler. The outdoor patio setup was great — really warm, inviting, and just a nice atmosphere overall. We were greeted right away by one of the managers, Jerred, who welcomed us and invited us to grab a seat at the bar. Our server, Jace, was super friendly and checked in to see if it was our first time there. He made some great recommendations and really helped guide us through the menu. I had the Old Fashioned and my friend ordered the margarita — both were excellent. We also tried a few of the hand rolls, and I was seriously impressed with how fresh the fish was. Everything tasted clean, fresh, and really well put together. Between the music, the ambiance, and the hospitality from the staff, the whole experience just felt fun and effortless. You can tell the team genuinely cares about what they’re doing, and it shows. If you’re looking for something new with a great vibe in the South Lamar area, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu.
LOVED trying Kitsu Nori! Sat at the bar and had a great light meal watching the chefs. Fresh, simple, and the tuna sashimi and spicy tuna hand roll were standouts. Service was phenom and loved that the outside has ample seating and tv for game watching! Will be back
I rarely write reviews, if ever, but I feel like this place deserves one. A huge out to Chef Hector - his attention to details were impeccable. He saw my girlfriend picking off scallions on her first handroll. Without hesitation or us even telling him, he excluded the scallions on her handrolls for the rest of our dinner. He simply told us he noticed when she did so. It’s the little details like this that provided us with a memorable experience. I have nothing bad to say about our time there. Every single dish was amazing. All staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back for another great dinner.
Visited the new location/ indoor space recently and loved it. The space is intimate and feels very intentional (without being crowded or loud). We got the cucumber salad and hamachi crudo to share (both fantastic) and then got an assortment of handrolls to share. Every bite was great, but the vegetarian assortment was a highlight (specifically the mushroom and eggplant rolls) as well as the blue crab was a table favorite. All the fish was also fantastic. The handroll presentation is very cool but definitely had a learning curve. We also had 5 each alongside the sharables and could have potentially had room another roll. Kitsu Nori clearly has a lot of identity with little touches like the soy sauce dropper bottles adding both to the aesthetic and eating experience. The service was also great with our waitress being very attentive and being very knowledgeable about the food.
This place was in Soft Opening mode when I went. I want to put it on the radar for people who are searching for something new. I had a Sunomono (wakame, cucumber in ponzu sauce). It has a nice balance of sour, savory, sweet and citrus flavors. Next was Hamachi Tiradito. It had a small amount of Serrano peppers, and its heat struck a perfect harmony with the orange - highly recommended. Then I moved on to hand-rolls. Minimum 3 orders, so my picks were Fatty tuna, Hokkaido scallops and Eggplant. They were all great, but the eggplant demands a special mention. I had no idea how they are going to use eggplant for sushi and it turned out, they made a Shigiyaki and put it in the hand-roll. They grill the eggplant and slap a miso based sauce on. Brilliant idea! And I had to order another of eggplant because it’s my absolute favorite dish. When you look at the pictures on Google Maps, they were from the previous concept, so you should ignore them all, except for mine in this post. I’m looking forward to the second visit and hopefully they can add more dishes as they move forward :)
Went to the new sushi experience. Everything was fantastic. Highlights were the crab, eggplant, and mushroom handrolls, but we truly didn't have a bad bite. The crab dip and chips and the hamachi crudo was also delicious. We had a lovely evening.
Wow, prepare to be blown away by these delicious raw and savory bites. Doesn’t get more tasty than this and every new dish blows away the last. Salmon crudo, uni handroll with caviar, and dry-aged tuna were unforgettable. Yes, yes, yes, don’t sleep on this one!
Dinner at Kitsu Nori was a reminder of why I’ve followed Paul Qui since the days of Qui. A quick note for first-time visitors: it’s a little tricky to find. There’s no prominent street-facing sign, and the restaurant is tucked into the same building as Rock of Ages Tattoo—once you know that, you’re in exactly the right place. From the moment you step inside, the space feels considered and serene—beautifully designed, intimate, and intentional, with roughly 25 seats that keep the experience focused and personal. There’s also a lovely outdoor patio that looks poised to become a destination of its own once dining opens there. The food is where everything truly sings. I started with the blue crab dip and chips—luxurious without being heavy, impeccably seasoned, and dangerously easy to devour. The hamachi crudo followed, pristine and balanced, letting the fish shine while subtle accents elevated every bite. Then came the hand rolls: one lobster, one crab, one scallop. Each was a small, perfect study in restraint and precision—warm rice, crisp nori, pristine seafood, and seasoning so exact it felt effortless. Nothing shouted. Nothing was missing. Just harmony. It’s no surprise, really. Chef Qui has always had a gift for clarity and control, and Kitsu Nori showcases that mastery in a way that feels both refined and welcoming. Every detail—from the pacing to the plating to the atmosphere—feels deliberate without ever feeling stiff. And one last thing: don’t skip dessert. The Japanese ice cream treats are exceptional—playful, nostalgic, and deeply satisfying—and for good reason have gone viral on TikTok. Kitsu Nori isn’t just a great new sushi hand roll spot; it’s a quietly confident addition to Austin’s dining scene, and one well worth seeking out, even if you have to look a little harder to find it. 🍣✨
Great new spot on Lamar. We had the sake crudo, really good. and 6 different rolls which were all great. I think they recently added a new "entree" part to the menu and we had the lobster which was highlight for sure. The vibe and service was outstanding, hopefully they add a bar with cocktails for outside area in the summer.
Absolutely loved the new sushi place by Paul Qui, he’s back baby! Cool, intimate sushi bar with amazing food and service. Hamachi crudo, Cucumber hand roll, and great wines as well. Loved how the hand rolls are served too, little sushi tacos! Resturant was still in soft opening mode officially but everything was running at top notch. We will be returning and feel like this place will always have something new and creative with each visit.

Their Karaage fried chicken is next level! I really liked their spicy sauce which I felt Thai inspired. It’s got some kinds of herb leaves which gives it a great twist! Definitely will come back when I visit Austin.

Freaking incredible. Eastside King has been around forever and is a legitimate Austin institution. I’ve not been disappointed with a single thing I’ve eaten here. Bold and unique flavors, done exquisitely well. Love the beet fries, karaage, and Brussels 🤤
I really enjoyed the food here! The beet fries were so yummy!! And the chicken sandwich had such a great amalgamation of flavors. I can’t wait to try more. Someone next to me got the chicken and rice and it looked and smelled amazing.

Had a fantastic meal with exceptional service at the sushi bar. We tried almost everything on the menu and were amazed by the quality and presentation of every bite. The crudo and tuna sashimi were standouts but everything was delicious. Kudos to the young chef running the kitchen that night. He was personable and very consistent in his preparation of the dishes. Will definitely be back.
Recommend sitting at the bar if you can - loved the social aspect with the chefs and those around us. Great atmosphere! No complaints on each dish we had and the chefs attention to detail. Can tell they are continuing to perfect their dishes at this new south Lamar location. Will be back to see how this spot evolves.
There are dishes here that leave me totally quiet. The Toro Cashew... it is one of those things more magical than the sum of its parts. The big swings hit, but for me, it is the quiet details that shine. Every bit of Kitsu Nori seems to have been created with an enormous amount of genuine intention. I’ve been twice now, and each time I see something that is generally an oversight elsewhere, Kitsu has made a point of caring for it. From the warmth of the staff, to the miso soup (I would like 18 bowls of), to the chopstick presentation.... even the soydish/chopstick rest?I'm pretty sure they hand-milled it for the purpose. It’s a truly beautiful level of insanity without any sort of pretense. Restaurants should transport us, and this one is a breath of fresh air. We’re lucky to have it.
Everything about this restaurant was an incredible experience! The food was delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. I recommend the Lychee Frozen Margarita, so good! The food was fresh, and our server was giving the best suggestions to what to try. The music was elevated and the guests all around were having a visibly great time too! The chef was very interactive and serving the tables with the dishes. I will definitely be back next time I visit Austin, one of the best restaurants hands down!

Visited the food truck located inside Liberty. We ordered the beets, the brussel sprout salad, chicken, and pork belly. All the food was ordered via the mobile app and we were notified our food was ready by text message. All the food was served in paper trays. Portions were ample and easy to share. We ordered beer from the bar while waited and finished the pints while eating. There is a large outdoor beer garden with plenty of seating at metal picnic tables. There was more food than we could eat so we got take away containers for the leftovers.
Really dig the outside patio vibes of this spot but parking is miserable. Food very cleanly executed and tasty. Highly recommend the Toro Cashew. If you love tuna, this is a good spot. Feels like a place on S. Lamar that if I wanted a quick but refined bite without a lot of pretentiousness, then I’d come here to eat in the outside backspace.
The handrolls here are great. We tried all of the non vegetarian ones and the scallop and lobster really shine. The blue crab was veryyy mayo.. which rates lowest for us. We also had the hamachi crudo and toro and cashew. Both were very good. I just wish the menu was a little larger, but realize they’ve just opened and are working to add more. Also as a hand roll place, you’re expected to eat with your hands, so it would be nice if they offered warm towel service when you’re initially sat. I think one of the best things about this place is how quickly food is delivered! I went in hungry and was immediately fed. There’s limited seating inside. Entrance is towards the back. Parking is ample. Prices were on par with a higher end sushi restaurant. ($8-$12 per hand roll & $20 and up for other dishes.

Cold rainy night not busy. Ordered online and left a tip, went to the truck and told the person working there it was an online order and he immediately shrugged his shoulders and I told him the name i ordered under and he responds "yeah the name" the interaction was about 6 seconds and it was obvious I was an annoyance. He handed me the food and slammed the windows shut. Sorry for ordering food from a food truck. The food was good but regret giving my business to someone who obviously didn't want it.
Got a few orders of the Pork Belly Bao Buns and sadly our group of four were not impressed. The Pork Belly itself was overcooked and the buns were dry and cracking as you bit into them. The sauce was just OK. Underwhelming to say the least. :( The lady working the window was very kind and we did enjoy the outdoor food court atmosphere.
Service needs serious improvement. The restaurant felt overbooked for the size of the kitchen, and after ordering we waited about an hour and had only received two dishes. No one came by to offer water for 30 minutes. The food itself was good, which makes the experience more disappointing
The food is good, but nothing crazy. I had the pork belly buns and was expecting them to be crispier than they were. I thought I ordered another item, but accidentally ordered two pork belly buns. When I brought up that I thought there was a mistake, the staff were a bit rude about it. I admitted that it must have been my fault and they just rolled their eye and walked away. I won’t be back.
There was a wonderful girl who took care of us at the bar during my last visit that I was hoping to see again, but who’s no longer there. Unfortunately the difference in service is noticeable. The staff during this recent visit seemed apathetic and untidy. At this level of dining, I expect more warmth, engagement, and cleanliness. Aside from a long wait to be seated, the food itself was good but inconsistent, and the pacing felt rushed. Courses were dropped off without explanation, questions about the menu were answered vaguely, and overall the experience felt more casual than elevated.
Somehow this Google business listing has been allowed to retain all the reviews from their previous restaurant, East Side Kings, which are not representative of Kitsu Nori. They delivered our check to us 1 hr 15 minutes into the reservation without asking if we were done. We (2 people) had spent over $300. We had JUST received our (quite slow) cocktails when they brought the bill, and we felt rushed to finish. If there is a 90-minute limit on their reservations, it would have been nice for them to inform us! Otoko manages to do this without seeming rude. The food was quite good but not the level of Uchi, and the bar seat chairs are really comfortable with back support. In the future when I want to spend $300+ I will take it to Uchi / Uchiko, not here 🫣
Went to the high noon location last weekend and had a terrible experience. First…we stood there forever because homie wasnt even there. I thought maybe he was in the bathroom inside High Noon but he walked up from somewhere on the street. When I ordered the Thai Chicken Karaage i asked what “Karaage” means out of curiosity and he mocked me for asking. I also ordered the pork belly which he apparently forgot to make after 15 minutes when my boyfriend went to grab the food i guess he threw in some beet fries for free….also gross and SO salty. Coming from a girl who loves beets too (especially the pickled kind) then the kicker was….my pork buns were all bun and no pork!!!! It was literally just pieces of fat with a sliver of meat. I would have gone and said something if he hadn’t already been rude to me. Saving grace was the chicken….it was freaking GOOD!!! High Noon Also had a great Ambiance and live music so that was cool i love that bar. I don’t generally leave reviews but this was kinda unacceptable. Do better guy!
As a regular at the previous location, I can verify that the food and the service has changed, and not for the best. Last time I came here an hour before close and wasn't able to put in my order so I walked up to the cashier and told him that for some reason the web app wouldn't take my order. He was rude and brushed me off, saying he didn't know why, but maybe the manager remotely decided to stop taking orders. Fine. I've been here two times since, and it just has not been very good. the garlic fries are gone, the karaage and the curry taste bland, the pork belly was also bland.. I probably won't be back.
Tried this new intimate hand roll spot and left disappointed. Wine prices were extremely high (around a 400% markup), and the edamame came out cold/raw. The hand rolls were decent overall, with the vegetarian options being the highlight. Sitting at the bar felt a bit awkward, as the expo was also grilling expensive steaks on a small portable grill right there. Ultimately, while the atmosphere was trendy and cozy, the high price did not match the quality or experience.

A shockingly awful experience! Just stunned. I don’t typically spend time on reviews but consider it a civic duty to warn people. I don’t know how this place survives.
I ordered the chicken katsu bowl and was given a chicken katsu curry bowl instead. I was open to trying it even with this mistake but the “curry” was just a glaze over the katsu chicken. It was so strong that it overpowered everything else in the bowl. I seriously could not taste anything else. Definitely go here if you want the wrong order and to eat absolutely subpar food.
This place is more about pretence and hype than actually good food. The chips and dip is $18 for ruffles potato chips with Dean's French onion dip. The fish was overpowered by the sauces, the hand rolls were mediocre at best. Never been so disappointed after spending $200 on dinner....and still hungry. There are much better sushi throughout Austin. If I had to choose between HEB sushi and this place, I would choose HEB.
