Opiniones de Michi Ramen Austin
We’ve been looking for a perfect ramen spot all around Austin and this is the best one by far! The ambiance is warm and cozy. perfect for date night, solo eating, and a get together. The ramen was flavorful and very filling. The BEST eggs by far. Shout out to the server running this place like the US marines. 10/10 Wonderful experience.
Great food in a quite little place, quaint vibes with upbeat music going while you eat. Inside seating or to go. Will definitely go again for this price point! Very quick as well.
This was one of my favorite ramen spots when I lived here but I haven’t been here in like 3 years. I came to meet an old friend and we ended up sitting for hours. The staff member who took our order was so friendly and accommodating and even offered us an app since we had been sitting for so long. I love the Sapporo bowls here. Tried the pork belly and that was really good. Wish I had Michi back home where I live now.
We went around 945-10pm. A few people were there. It’s BYOB if you want. The veggie broth had a pinch of spice. The noodles didn’t have a particular taste to me (they’re clear), but the broth brought all the flavor. Michi had a flavorful broth and soft sliced pork belly. The broth was creamy. They have free water you can drink. You can purchase cans of coke, tea and other drinks. Great music (80s hits), dim lighting and a quiet atmosphere.
I was worried when going to this location and the other because I notice the reviews have gotten more negative since the last time I've been here. That was about less than ten years ago. So I go to the N Lamar location and there was a physical change. No more outdoor patio, bar dancing a white design wall, children's drawings on the wall. We were the only ones there. It seems they got a few delivery orders though. I got the veggie ramen with spicy broth. It was good and personally it's just as good as I remember. It's still the best ramen shop to me in Austin.

Yep. Hit the spot! Kept waiting for the Vid to be over so I could go back. Better than ever!
Good experience at Michi. The restaurant was going through renovations so I won’t comment much on the ambience. The ramen was good, definitely better than other places in Austin. The karaage was delicous, both chicken and squid. Seafood salad is done well and fries are average.
Alright, buckle up for a wild ride 'cause I've got a story for you about Michi Ramen and how we got there. So, picture this: my wife and I are in town for the Jo Koy stand-up gig, right? We're pumped, ready to laugh our socks off. After the show we didn't know getting an Uber was like trying to summon a unicorn. Four cancellations and an hour and a half later, we finally snag one, mind you we're in 40-degree weather, drizzle, and wind that could blow you over the border wall. But hey, my wife's a tropper, so we roll up to Michi Ramen, the only ramen joint open 'til midnight (that I saw on Google lol). Now, my buddy had the audacity to call it "trash," so you know what? Telling me something is trash only makes me go there faster. #ChallengeAccepted. Turns out, no dine in, take out window only + there's a 20-minute wait – maybe 'cause the food's so good or the chef's taking a blinker break, who knows? But let's get to the juicy part: our order's up, and our Uber's waiting outside like a getaway car. Back at the hotel, we dive into our ramen, and guess what? It's freakin' delicious! My buddy's dead wrong – that egg was the MVP, and the karaage? Still crispy despite its travels in a take out box. The broth? Heavenly. Rich. Deep. The noods? I could taste EACH one. The protein? Thick. Even the little veggies were on point. So, here's the kicker: the wait? It's 'cause the food's bomb, not 'cause the cook's tuned up off his dispo pen. Long story short, Michi Ramen, you proved my friend wrong, and we're lovin' every slurp of it! Cheers to good eats and even better stories!

Probably the best ramen in Austin. That being said... tables were sticky, got bit by a mosquito 4x indoors, we were the only customer, and it took 20 minutes to get our ramen. We ordered dipping noodle and tori ramen with a side of mayu (black garlic oil) and a bottled texas sweet tea for lunch. Came out to around $38. Almost $20 a person after tip. Flavor wise, both ramen tasted great. The tori ramen was foamy?? Both noodles could have been better, tasted a bit like the cheap noodles from the supermarket. Porkbelly was 50 cents extra and really thin but wasn't freezer burned. Noodles were slightly undercooked for the tsukemen/dipping noodles. Chopsticks were disposible, and water cups were styrofoam that you had to get yourself. The lighting was very dark, and the menu was hard to read. Staff was friendly. If I were to come back, I'd order to-go.

The ramen has a very good flavor profile. I wouldn't categorize it as fresh-to-order, but it's pretty solid and the price is reasonable. The place feels a little divey and atmospheric but I enjoyed…

We order the Sapporo with spicy ground pork. After they relocated to their current location, they seemed to lose the umame and spicy quality. Still very rich and the same thick, ingredient-full bowl,…
This place is not good…. The takoyaki somehow managed to have the smallest piece of octopus and overcooked, and it was served relatively lukewarm 😭. The ramen had a 1$ extra charge for pork belly, fine! BUT it should be a good portion or especially tasty. Well I was given two small pieces of pork that tasted okay at best 💀. The noodles in the ramen were okay, nothing special. Same with the other toppings. It was also served relatively lukewarm. (I doubt the freshness of all the food) Fortunately this place is cheaper than other ramen joints like tatsuya, but it certainly isn’t better. Save your time and go elsewhere.
This is the first ramen place I went to a decade ago and I don't know if my memory has changed or things have just gone downhill but it's a sorry state of things michi used to be the cheap alternative to Tatsu-Ya but they're comparable in price, but without the same amenities. Bathroom looks dank, poorly lit, dusty, in general there's a lack of care to cleanliness and presentation. Nothing to call the health inspector about but there is a general sort of run down feel (and not in a cool dive bar way, more in a gas station sort of way). An affordable unpretentious ramen place would be welcome but this is not it.
Would not recommend. Great service, kind host but the food isn't great, atmosphere isn't inviting. Ramen - noodles are hard with no flavor, sauce is flavor less (there are options for light/reg/stout(heavy soup). I got regular and felt very light. Pork wasent as lean as most chasu, didn't work well with the ramen. Prefer Tatsuya and Marufuku for authentic quality ramen.
Food was well priced and good portion for buy one get one free, but I received my broccoli rotting in the core. I wouldn't even eat this in my own kitchen, a restaurant should be double and triple checking these kinds of things.... I understand we came late, but if they treat late people like this, I dont want it.
As far as service goes…. It felt like we were inconveniencing the person who was working. She lets us know very rudely “I am by myself doing everything!” And when asked about a dish she made it seem like we were stupid for asking a question. The food overall was just fine. But the service and the atmosphere were such a disappointment. I hope they find someone to help that person out!
The atmosphere is really icky and terrible. The entire place, inside and out, looks so rundown it practically looks abandoned. They seem to have a lot of things in disrepair, and I understand maybe not being able to afford proper repairs, but it doesn't cost anything to clean up. The state of the restaurant is inexcusable, if I had been alone I would have just walked right back out the door.

Wrong order, meat tasted bad, all around bad. Go to ramen Tatsu ya or something atleast better. This was disappointing.

Placed an online order for 4 entrees. When I arrived I was told that one of the items was out of stock so they took it off my order. They never refunded the one they took off. The only excuse I got was, "we're really busy." No apology, no attempt to make it right. I told the girl I understand that items run out but I ordered 4 entrees because I have 4 people to feed, now I only have 3 meals and that doesn't really work. Beyond that, the place was gross. Never coming back. I suspect michi won't last much longer. What a shame.
What a sad day that I have to write this review. We used to love this place and went all the time! My husband and I were in town, and we were so excited to have it again. Unfortunately, this place never recovered from COVID. It's bleak and dirty inside with mold growing on the ceiling and empty chipped Ikea furniture and pegboard scattered around the place. We still hoped that the food would be good, but alas, when the only employee in the entire store and kitchen served us, it was on dirty bowls and tasted store bought. The real kicker is that my husband got extreme food poisoning from the karaage. No more will we be visiting this location. I think they should honestly abandon this location and try to focus on the one down south. Hopefully that one is in a better state. RIP Michi north, we'll miss you.
Wow. Hate to see it but this place fell off. Used to love it, I even would sometimes come here over tatsuya. But after last night never again. Broth was flavorless and watered down, we put stout aswell. I remember it being so rich and flavorful. The chashu was probably the worst bit. It was either old chashu they reheated or they cooked it wayyyyy too long. It was hard and chewy and not soft and melt in your mouth like it should. We paid 2 dollars for an extra egg. They only give you half for 2 dollars. Shouldn't it be a full egg plus the half they already give you? This place once was so good and could compete with other places. But now its just trash.
Terrible atmosphere. Bad vibe. Grimy bathroom and floors. Terrible lighting. But let’s get to the food. This is bad ramen. I travel to all types of cities in the US. This might be the worst Ramen / tonkatsu I’ve ever had. Chopped grilled pork??? Kidding me? Sugar bombs in chili oil? The Miso tonkatsu is bad bad! And you charge an extra $4 for the meat? It’s always part of ramen. And the beef in gyudon rice dish was so so so salty. And food truck giant styrofoam cups for water? What age is this?
