Qué dicen los clientes de Texas Traditional BBQ
Texas Traditional BBQ is a local favorite known for its generous portions and friendly staff. The brisket and ribs are highly praised, though some find the brisket can be dry. The mac and cheese and sweet potato salad are popular sides. It's a small, unassuming spot with a loyal following.

Don't knock it until you try it. The food was delicious, and big red on tap. The sauce is a bit runny, but over all everything tasted great even the bbq sauce. Just wish more bread was given with the two meat plate. 2 slices for all that brisket and chopped need was not enough.
Best most tender baby back and spare ribs ever!!! Wet sauce was divine!! Excellent service from Kelsey! Will be back. This is our new favorite BBQ spot. Highly recommend.
Our son picked this place off Google at random and we were NOT disappointed! Fantastic food, great portions for the price. He was in love with the Chopped BBQ sandwich so I'm sure we'll be back soon
Brisket Sandwich was sooo Good!!! They had a lot of meat on this Sandwich. I will come again & tell my family & friends about this place. Omg good Food & Great prices!😋😋😋
Clean interior, good food, family environment. I highly recommend the fall off the bone ribs, and chopped brisket sandwiches. Make sure to bring a sharpie for the walls. 🤣🤣 Nothing but good times to be had at this gem on the outskirts.
This was my first time and it was absolutely fantastic and delicious! I love how you make your mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese with the black pepper and flavor is the best, I also had the baby back ribs and brisket and sausage and in my opinion the best i've had in my 3 years being in Texas. Your BBQ sauce reminds me of my favorite bbq in Cullman Alabama at Johnny's bbq. I was hoping for some pulled pork sandwiches but I didn't see any but loved everything I did get. Thank you all!
Once again, another place that I get a lot of DoorDash orders from. They do have a drive-thru so it's very convenient. I hardly ever see anyone inside eating but the barbecue is to die for. I definitely recommend if you are in Manor, Texas
Great customer service!!!!!!! This place I place on my top 3 list of BBQ and Sausage. I have passed this restaurant as long as it has been there. I stopped yesterday FINALLY, I thought is was just take out. Their are tables outside in the back and inside. I have been missing this great food all these years. The prices are low for this great food. I will never pass this place again without stopping. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!!!!
Cheap, delicious brisket. Good chicken. Really good sausage that goes with eggs too, not just for BBQ. The sauce isn't anything special but it's good enough. Make sure you ask for bread if you want it. Sometimes they forget to ask you and then default to not putting any in the bag. The drive through BBQ concept is the future. These people are ahead of the game.
My roommate brought me here and I have NEVER EVER had BBQ this frikkin good!!!! I mean WOW!!! The sweeter sauce plus the most perfect brisket I've had since my mom died!!!! The sausage was extraordinary! Usually with me, sausage is Meh... and, the potato salad melts in your mouth! The staff is fast and friendly!! One of the places worth driving 30 min... ...or an hour!!! Well done!
I've lived in and around Austin my whole 35+ years and their mac & cheese with the heavy big black pepper is cravable. Holy cow, this is the only side I tried and I am curious to see what else they are doing. The best places are not always with the most curb appeal & that is genuine. I truly appreciate that. The sausage was crumbly and really good. The brisket was a lean main strip but had a nice layer of fat and great bark. Will be stopping by everytime I head out to the Renaissance Festival to get some great BBQ!
The ribs fell off the bone. The seasoning was so flavorful. The potato salad was perfectly balanced. The sauce.... just outstanding. Every one and their mother needs to try this food.
I just drove from Georgetown to Manor with my mouth watering the whole way, because I remembered that Tuesday is the day Gary and his team have their pork steak special. This large, thin-sliced steak is perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. This is my favorite thing on the menu! Come try it out!
The brisket is to die for! Great flavor and smoke. Sausage is also great. It is definitely a hidden gem for bbq lovers. Always the same perfection every time i go. I have a friend that visits a couple times a year and the first place he wants to go is Texas Traditional.
Just enjoyed a killer meal. Had brisket, sausage, and chicken. All of it was juicy and tender. Homemade potato salad was just like i would have made myself if i wasn't too lazy to bother. :) Staff was fast and friendly aswell. Don't forget to ask for a slice of cake, very generous portions all around. :)
Stopped by and had 1/4 pound of baby back ribs and also same of brisket. It was the best, juiciest, delicious brisket I have ever tasted. The baby back ribs were falling off the bone. No sauce just all the flavor. Fantastic !
I live in Manor and from 290 the place always looks closed so I assumed it was and never visited. My daughter loves trying new places and brought home a pork steak for me one day. My goodness!!!! It was better than going to Elgin. I have stopped by twice since then and they were sold out. I won’t give up.
Great BBQ. Has daily lunch special. Not much dining area and not much to look at
They're great!! Amazing staff professional and polite
Don't let the looks fool you this was the best bbq I had in the 6 years I lived in Austin. Had the "best" in Austin and they didn't compare to this place. Don't let the big name places fool you. This was the best.
Great BBQ. Super tender and always consistently good
Loved their brisket BBQ, Beef ribs and Whole chicken was amazing! Tasty green beans too! Will definitely be back to try some more! Thanks for delish food on mother's day 💐❤️
I like this place a lot. I always get the same thing. A brisket sandwich combo with slaw and a Dr pepper. I put the slaw on the sandwich and I also buy some Cool Ranch or Salsa Verde Doritos and put 5 of the chips on the sandwich too. It's the best sandwich in Manor. The ribs are good too. Friendly staff.
Good moist brisket, tender and not overly smokey. The sliced brisket sandwiches are a good value too. I don't care for their sauce, it's a bit tomato-ey but I always get to go orders so I just use my own barbecue sauce anyway. Overall really good!
OMG drove through Saturday on my way home from Sherwood Forest Faire and picked up a family pack with brisket and sausage along with Mac and cheese, potato salad and Pinto beans. They gave us a tall styrofoam glass full of pickles and onions and an entire loaf of bread. Got it home to share with mama and I have to tell you... That is the best brisket I have ever had. It was fall apart tender even the next day when it was cold out of the refrigerator. The sides are ok but that brisket is phenomenal. I'm actually glad they were out of turkey as it was late in the day. Oh, and the sausage was great too. Not too greasy or too spicy. Will definitely be going again.
For Brisket and Ribs better than many restaurant in Austin such as Saltgrass, Lick Salt, Rudy’s, etc, this is the place!! Appearance… not the best, but it worth it to stop by.
Stopped in for a quick bite.. got the pork rib special... Meat was falling off the bone and flavor was spot on. Sides were a good portion and the tea was sweet. Definitely a belly filler with great taste. 👍
The best so far. I'm new to Texas and have been trying all the bbq I can. Ordered the half chicken. It was so juicy and not at all dry. They make their own bbq sauce! And not just brought on the truck full of corn syrup. Keep it simple and good.
It's very rustic, which makes it all the more enjoyable. I had a brisket and sausage sandwich that was the best I have had in my whole darn life. Super nice folks as well. Will make up excuses to come visit this place again for sure!
Don't be dissuaded by the broken down look of the place. Both inside and out are not really appealing. What is fantastic is the BBQ. Gary has been making BBQ for over 41 years and his knowledge. execution and final product are all at the top of a very busy BBQ market in Austin. There are better known places out there (you know them), but if you are looking for perfect meats from brisket to chopped beef, chicken and sausage, go for TAKE OUT at the TTBBQ. The brisket is really perfect and I would put it up against any place in the city. Try it with his meat sauce. I have no idea what he adds to the drippings to make it but it is incredible. On the other hand his BBQ sauce is just meh. The place offers all the extras, for free, you want like pickles, onions and white bread to make sandwiches. If you want to try something a little different, go for their chopped beef sandwich. It is the very first thing I had to eat in Texas. The sandwich comes on a perfect bun, big enough to hold the juices from the meat but not too thick. Drizzle some meat sauce or eat it plain right off the grill. It is a nice lunch. All the good side choices you want. I like the slaw and potato salad. Mac & Cheese is ok, but I have had better. Very friendly family-run business. Service is very quick. I definitely would take out rather than eat in.
Excellent food and friendly people!
This place is one of those hole-in-the-wall rare finds that makes you wish you'd heard about this hidden gem sooner. Three of us ate there today for the first time & we loved it! We'll definitely be going back again & again. Awesome, melt-in-your-mouth brisket & amazing sausage. Reasonable prices, too, compared to other BBQ places. I highly recommend it!
The Thursday lunch special, ribeye, been getting it for years! Very well worth the price.
Damn good bbq! Came during lunch for their lunch special and got the spare ribs that were fall off the bone! The meat was not smoked too much, but not too little either; it was just right. Also got a slice of pecan pie (homemade) which was amazing. I left here every bit full and satisfied. Highly recommend this place! My new go to bbq lunch spot!
I got the rib Cole slaw and greenbeans ribs so tender did not need BBQ sauce.
Great little spot was passing thru after golf outing was a great stop BBQ was 👍
It is the best b.b.q in town so many years eating here and would always come back..beef ribs are something special
Extremely friendly owner, and great food! Really darn good sausage, the brisket was rich and moist, and everything else was good as well! The mac may look simple, but it's far better than most other places. There's a drive-thru, but you need to wrap around the shack to get to the entrance. You need to have reasonable expectations about the service time, since it's not fast food after all.
You come here for the best Texas bbq to take home. Though my first visit was for a brisket sandwich which turned out so juicy, tasty and tender, I had to return the following week when we had friends in town. Fatty brisket, the best I've had in town so far. Beef rib, very good. Mac and cheese, absolutely the best ever. Potato salad excellent. Green beans very good. If you are the North east park of town, Hutto, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. Update. We stopped on the way back and had a great dinner again. Love the brisket, with raw onion and bread.
Happened upon this BBQ spot when I googled for food near me in Manor. While standing in a short line to order, I saw plates of BBQ going by. The generous portions of meat and sides that looked great! I wasn't too hungry so I ordered the Sliced Brisket Sandwich. It was stacked with lean smoked beef. The lean brisket was slightly dry but the homemade sauce made up for it. I will try a plate next time
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Driving up to the building I figured this would be “Just Another BBQ Shop”, but once I entered the decorative theme was interesting, and unique. It was very clean, small but adequate enough for a dozen or so customers to dine in. Got my order to dine in of Pork Steak, Mash potatoes with gravy, Mac n cheese and a couple slices of brisket. First the brisket, seasoned and smoked just right. It was juicy, tender, delicious, had a perfect smoke ring, with just the right amount of seasoning. It practically melted in my mouth. It’s the best true Texan brisket I’ve had. The pork steak was amazing also. The fresh ground peppercorn along with other spices gave it a little zing. The pork steak also had a nice smoke ring, cooked to a perfection, not undercooked or overcooked, but tender enough to cut with a fork if you wanted to. The Mac and cheese was also delicious, I like how it was cooked fresh and to a nice creamy consistency. The elbow noodles were also perfectly, they still held their shape not over cooked and soggy. Now finally the mash potatoes. They are homemade mash potatoes, not instant or powdered. Great consistency flavoring. Overall I have to give this 10 out of 10, 2 thumbs up. I definitely will be eating here again and I would recommend this to anyone who wants true southern Texas BBQ!
Awesome bar b q. Don’t even need the sauce. I always get the brisket and sausage plate with a drink and 2 sides as the Friday special. It’s only $13.99! I get the potato salad and coleslaw as my sides and have never been disappointed with my meal or service. Be aware that it is small inside if you want to eat inside all the tables could be occupied. They also have a drive through and home made desserts that are the bomb!
Yes … 5 stars! So … with the current surrounding road construction, it’s almost impossible to get to, and if you aren’t looking for it, you’ll never get there. I actually thought it was a condemned building. It didn’t look like there would be dine-in seating, but there were a few tables. When I went in, I thought “Why isn’t this condemned?”🤣 (It is a rickety establishment.) It took me asking the very young employees how the menu worked so I could order, but we managed. All that being said, it was an entertaining experience. The food was delicious & the servings were good size. Everyone was pleasant. If you haven’t tried it out, you should.
Great BBQ and I’ve had a lot!!! Ribs were tender as was the brisket! The potato salad is pretty sweet!!! Great food, great prices! Staff was so friendly and the walls are decorated with visitors names from around the world! Just sign your own! Pecan brownie at the end was a nice topper! Don’t be fooled by the little shack on the side of the road, this place is a gem! Totally recommend it and can’t wait to come back!
As a new Manor local, I'm getting to know the local food joints. This place is small and completely unassuming but wow! Their bbq is so good. I've lived in Texas a very long time and their bbq is really good. We each ordered the 3 Meat Plate for $13.99 and comes with 2 sides. First off, the portions are quite large and larger than most bbq places I've been to which was so welcomed. On one plate we ordered the brisket with was so good and had that perfect smoke ring. Next was the sausage which were really good. Then there was the pork ribs which had a great crust, great flavor and fall apart delicious. The sides on the plate were green beans which were so fresh and flavorful and their very unassuming Mac N Cheese which was so good. The next plate had Brisket, Turkey and Chicken with Mac N Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. It was ALL Really Good! Go here and check out this delicious local BBQ joint and enjoy! It's worth it!
The food was great and very fair priced! Doesn't have 5 stars because some renovations could be done to the location, while I understand the look so things do seem unsafe.. food is definitely 5 stars! Brisket and sausage plate.
This place is your traditional dive. But you have to look past the obvious and try the food! The Angus burger is the best I've had in many years. They have down-home Texas soul food. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, all the sides and fixings you could ever want. Try it you will not be disappointed!
Love Traditional brisket and green beans. The last few times (2) I've been, they have been out and of brisket and I get subs that are sub par. I usually get the #2 family meal which is very expensive. Too expensive to be out of meat and other things to be blah. I will step away for awhile and give them a minute from my business.
Good BBQ great price ,you will pay less here for good bbq
Food is pretty good, although the last ribs I ordered were pretty salty. Not the best BBQ I ever had but I will definitely eat there again. The potato salad is kinda bland and they NEED to serve corn on the cob.
Decent BBQ for the area I was visiting (Manor). Ordered brisket, 1/2 chicken, potato salad, and beans. Brisket on point, lean and fork cut tender. Chicken, eh not my favorite. Beans just okay. The included BBQ sauce was more like a BBQ gravy sauce, not my favorite. Potato salad was delish, little kick of sweet in it that I like. Place looks rough, but the food is decent. Service was good too, so win win. Had a hankering for BBQ and this place got'r done!
I really like the smoked meats and the prices are great & fair, but for the last couple of times I have specifically asked for a medium onion & pickles with BBQ sauce and get home only to find no BBQ sauce. Be sure to confirm all items are in bag, before driving off.
Affodable smoked meats from a shabby little shack. The most keto friendly joint in Manor.
Typical small barbecue joint. I tried the Brisket sandwich with onions and pickles and it didn’t disappoint. It’s definitely better than your franchise bbq joints.
Authentic old school bbq. Had brisket sandwich which was very good. The sauce option wasn't anything special and the pinto bean side was fine. I'd definitely get the sandwich again and try some other meats.
I went after school hours and the food was so good! I went for the brisket and fell in love with the chicken. The outside layer was a tad spicy for my 5 year old but I really really loved it. I got corn and mac & cheese for sides and the corn was standard but the Mac and cheese was so good!! It seemed super basic upon viewing but was totally amazing to eat! The young gentleman who took my Order was kind and professional.
I didn't like the skins used on the sausage they made them taste awful. But when I took the skin off the meat content was great. My wife want to try some of those ribs and the salt content was to much for her.
It appears that there has more love added to their ingredients...My last 2 visits has been very surprising to me. First I ordered a 2 meat plate the included Baby Backs and sausage, Brown/Pinto Beans. Pinto Beans an Potato Salad would be the only reason I didn't give a higher rating. The order was plated wrong so I ended up with Sausage, Baby Back, an some Brisket in which all 3 tasted very good an totally different from my first experince that caused me not return there for several years. My second of the last two I tried there Country Fried Steak with String Beans an Mashed Potatoes and Brown Gravy and had it not been at work on this RAINY DAY I WOULD'VE NEEN LOCKED UP SLEEP SOMEWHERE. OVERALL THERE HAS BEEN SOME HELLVA IMPROVEMENTS MADE AND I'VE ENJOYED THEM SOMEWHAT.
Just paid $18 for the “lunch special” that they don’t have prices listed for. I ordered the steak medium rare, it came well done. The potato looks old. This was definitely not worth the money spent. I was refunded for the meal and they offered to make another. I do think the special prices should be listed.
Very friendly fast service. Great environment but I had the Catfish & Shrimp for lunch. Not bad but not great. I would suggest more cornmeal and less season on the fish and we are not in Louisiana please take the fire out of the hush-puppies. All in all I will probably try again but maybe the BBQ next time.
The mains are great, but unfortunately the sides are lacking in taste. Please experiment a bit with different recipes, I think it'll really make for a fantastic meal. The drive through can be a little rough on smaller cars, so take it slow.
I've always said that the very best barbeque doesn't need any sauce. Barbeque that's just fine can be made great by a really good sauce. I wish this place had better sauce. The green beans were some of the best I've ever had. They were FULL of flavor and cooked perfectly! I would seriously go back just for more green beans! The meat wasn't bad, but there is much better to be had. I like more seasoning and flavor in my meats. They had 3 different kinds of sauce, but neither myself or my friend liked any of them. One was marked to be KC Masterpiece, but it was very watered down or something, because it was really thin and tasted bland. The deserts looked awesome, but we didn't get to try any this time. They looked like the kind Grandma always had when she had family over to visit. Cobblers, chocolate cake in a bug Tupperware container, pumpkin pie... all very yummy looking! The look of the place is classic! Super hole-in-the-wall atmosphere with lots of personality. The floor is slanted in spots, but I think it adds to the charm. The people were friendly and service was fast. I will go back and give it another try (I'm going to crave those green beans now that I've had them!).
The food is good most days which is why I keep returning but in a few times it was a hard bun and over cooked brisket like it was heated up. Oh the great days it's great flavorful etc.
We wanted to try some local Manor food and this was an obvious choice since we see it every time we drive into town from Austin. I called ahead and ordered. Pick up went smoothly. The brisket was great! I'd recommend it. I was not a fan of the sausage. It was a little more ground inside than I like and was not very flavorful. The sauce could also have used a little more barbecue flavor. We also had the Mac and cheese which was decent.
My husband ordered me brisket, cole slaw, and pinto beans. The only thing I ate was the cole slaw. The brisket was nothing but fat, it was tender though. The pinto beans tasted a little old. The cole slaw was very good though, and I can never find cole slaw that I actually like. So that was a plus.
Meat was great, bbq sauce tasted like vinager and ketchup. And it should be a crime to serve instant mashed potatoes.
It really just depends with this place. One day I got some brisket, and they used up all of the brisket that they were serving. So to finish my order they brought another brisket in from the back. One of the briskets was amazing, the other was just "OK". That pretty much sums up my experience here. Some days great, others just OK. I've never had bad food here though.
BBQ is good, service was inconsistent. I got a lady one time who presented the food beautifully which does help the experience. Went another time where some younger adults were working and they just threw a full sausage in paper and into the bag, not diced up nicely or presented well. The building itself looks like it's hanging on by a thread, very uncomfortable inside, luckily there's a table outside. A new location alone would really help their image/customer experience.
Really didn't care for the brisket here, I'm sorry, but it was tough as nails and not even flavorful. Now the chicken and turkey are beyond words so good-- highly recommend! Seriously the turkey especially is better than any barbecue place I've ever ordered from! Ribs, however, are hit and miss depending on what day you come... We've come twice now and sometimes they're fall off the bone good, other times they're just fatty and stuck... Coslaw, potato salad, and sauces are all good.
The barbecue is not that good, but it’s convenient. The store smells like an old toilet inside, and you can smell it coming out when you’re at the drive through window. I was burping this barbecue all night, and couldn’t get the taste out of my system until the next day. I probably won’t be coming back!
Been going here for years since Lee used to own the business so a very long time was very disappointed went thru the drive thru got home hardly any brisket at all like a third of normal waste of money still hungry after eating what they gave me. The other person got the sausage and brisket plate and they had more brisket than I did but still not the normal amount and got sausage for a dollar less. The girl that I think is the owners daughter gives you a good amount for the money going to be a long time before I go back hate to get ripped off.
Very very bland. The sausage had absolutely no flavor, and the brisket was dry and tasted like it was made a few days ago and reheated. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were pretty good though.
We just moved to Manor from Austin and wanted some BBQ. We went at about 5 and I was the only one inside picking up an order. Price $32. 1 lb Brisket, 1/2 lb sausage, a large Mac and cheese, and a Big Red. Also, I don’t know if it’s because I just ordered by the pound, but I got charged when I told them I wanted bread, onions, and pickles. $2. Brisket didn’t taste bad, but had no flavor. Also, they sliced the brisket lazily. Sausage was ehh...not great. Something seems off with it. I think it was too ground. Mac and cheese was decent. BBQ sauce tasted like pasta sauce, according to my wife. Also, what BBQ place doesn’t have banana pudding? I won’t be back. I had high hopes because of the decent reviews on here, but they did not reflect my experience.
Brisket is very good. Really flavorful but ribs are not great. The ribs lack flavor. The sauce is cold and watered down, no flavor at all. Very disappointed. Stopped by on Sunday evening on the way home to Houston and ordered Ribs and Brisket plate with 2 sides to go. My husband ordered a rib plate with 2 sides. A few miles down in the car I opened my box to begin eating and saw they had forgotten the ribs on my plate. They gave us a rib plate and a brisket plate only. Too late to turn back around.
If you like bland, overcooked brisket, funky chicken and tasteless pork ribs you will love this place! Stopped there today at lunch, first time and last time. I ordered the 3 meat plate, and a bottle of orange drink it cost me $17.30. Holy crap!!! I'm fairly certain the coleslaw and potato salad were bought at a grocery store and resold here. The orange drink was very good though.
I am sure that many have enjoyed this place, I had good expectations after reading the reviews. I was in the mood for some BBQ and didn't feel like driving to Elgin so I decided to stop in at this place. Unfortunately it wasn't good at all. The ribs were overcooked and very watery in a weird way, the BBQ sauce wouldn't stay on. And the chicken or the sides weren't that great either. The high point of the meal though was the sausage. Next time I'll take the time to drive to Elgin for BBQ
My daughter and I stopped to try there lunch special of beef ribs, potato salad, coleslaw, corn, pickles, bread, and onions. When she told me the price of $32.56 I was a bit shocked however I took the plates thinking the food was going to be good. The food was terrible I was upset that I paid this much for barbecue plates that were horrible. I will never go there again I will let people I know not to go there and on top of that not to believe in their daily specials I guess that's why there is no daily price listed. Thank you Texas Traditional Bar-B-Q a lesson I have learned.
Whoever said this is good barbecue has never ever had good real barbecue at all. Worst taste ever, not even smoked flavored. Customer service? They just don’t care how they treat people, they don’t know the definition of that.
After spending 75 dollars on brisket sausage and turkey in the drive thru ast night, they now charge 12 cents per piece of bread. Apparently it's a new policy I live in Manor and have bern going here for years. I complained about it and the guy waiting on us had to get manager approval to give us free bread. They finally did. I will be taking my money elsewhere from now on. You have lost a customer.
I have seen more smoke from cars on 290 than this BBQ place. Food is as good as you can imagine from this place. Manor needs a new BBQ restaurant fast.
Food way to greasy, mostly fat was given to me not brisket horrible presentation of a plate beans n Mac was running together
So disappointed. I have been eating here for years. One of the reasons was because the customer service was good. Well today was the worse experience ever. I wasn’t greeted with the same greeting the others got. They said good bye to all customers except me. I wasn’t even given an option to eat in they automatically assumed it was take out. I was the only person of color and I really felt it. I will never go back there again. Not ok to treat people like that. Might as well have a “no blacks allowed” sign on the door.
To be honest, I have not eaten here for years. Just had an awful experience elsewhere and it brought back memories of this place. At times the food was fine. Though to date, this is where I've received the worst bbq in my life...wish I had brought the plate back (drive-thru) to watch the server try to eat it.
