5 stars for the friendly bartender who made me an Americano (low abv Negroni) after mentioning it to him in conversation—thank you! Great spot to hang with friends or work remotely. They had the winter Olympics on inside and the atmosphere was really welcoming.
Great spot with a great selection! I kept it simple this time with the Manhattan Project which was a nice light Hazy IPA. For those who want food to, beware that the kitchen closes at 9 even though they are open later for drinks.
A PERFECT CAPPUCCINO AND MORE! Recently, I craved a good cappuccino at 9pm. My wife commented “I think most of the coffee shops open at this time won’t have a good quality” Today, I stumbled upon Turnstile, which is open till midnight and their cappuccino blew my mind! The taste, texture, and quality of the beans were fantastic. Moreover, it had an excellent indoor space for work, a relaxing outdoor area to hang out, and a vibrant bar. I'm definitely becoming a regular customer.
Great place to get some work done and more! So glad I found this spot. My review is in regards to morning visits to chug coffee and do some work, but I look forward to going back in the evening sometime for drinks with friends... seems like it would be great for that too. Set up really well for working and productivity. Lots of spacious seating with ample room to set up your laptop. Good music, but not too loud so you can rock your own headphones if you want. Great place to get out of the office or home office and get some work done in a cool atmosphere.
First time here and I tried their namesake burger, the 'Turnstile.' Very delicious! This place is swanky, hip and has an overall great vibe. I wanted to stay and sample some of their coffees and/or brews but it was lunch and I had to get back to work!😜 Lots of tasty options to choose from. Don't take my word for it though. Try them out!
Stopped by on a whim. The bartender, An, is the 💣. Hilarious. Incredibly fun crowd. Will be back
Nice coffee, food and spirits spot! Covered patio area where pets are allowed. Had the cappuccino, which was beautiful and the iced latte with their lavender honey syrup (which they make in house!) next time I'm definitely trying the food!
I just got takeout one night. The burgers beat my expectations. I felt like this was just a bar that happens to serve coffee...and happens to serve burgers. I was wrong...the burgers were great! My wife said her Turnstile was great...The Verde had a nice spice to it. This is a spot I definitely want to come back to and enjoy the full experience of sitting down and having a burger and beer...and of course coffee...
Great staff, beer selection. Haven't tried food. Obviously slammed during soccer nights.
Awesome place! Was in town visiting the owner of ABC Copy and we had lunch here. Locally owned. Staff was super friendly. Burger was amazing
Crazy beautiful vibe. Coffee was hot fresh and delicious. Tacos and especially salsa delicious too. Staff is super friendly and the chill vibe is much appreciated.
Super chill atmosphere, great coffee, awesome food! Thanks turnstile!
My wife came here with our 5-week old baby. Atmosphere was calm. Most people were on laptops working but not loud nor obnoxious. We ordered burgers, fries, beer and coffee to go. Staff is SUPER friendly!
Great pre-match spot for Austin FC games
My favorite beer bar in Austin! They always have an amazing rotation of beers, both local and national with a great variety in styles. Their cocktail menu is superb and they even have a coffee program for when you need some caffeine. You can order food from next door and it’ll be brought liver to you. They’ve got a large, dog-friendly patio that is nicely shaded and has fans. They have great WiFi as well if you’re hoping to get some work done!
Really nice beer selection and tasty coffee. Very personable staff. Incredible chicken sandwiches. Like, take a bite, tap the stranger sitting next to you on the shoulder, point at your sandwich level delicious. The fries were a little over-salted for my taste, but whatever. I'm going back.
The people who work here are talented and make each visit a delight. This place has quickly become a favorite for many of us whether you are the coffee goers in the morning, the remote workers at midday or the evening crowd .
Great FAST service for food and drinks! Good coffee, wide beer selection and fun cocktails. I stopped by today for a latte and tried their special the PFunk burger! Delicious! Pimento cheese, jalapenos, ritz crackers, well built burgers that stays together and you get a little bit of everything in each bite. Love this spot and will keep coming back. Thanks Turnstile!
Had the lemon poppy seed loaf. So dense but flavor was good. My drink was delicious. Friend said her coffee was one of the best she had. I LOVE the building, their brand & logo is modern but luxurious.
Laid back, chill vibe. Nice place to meet a friend or 3 for a drink and a small bite.
After months of driving by this place I finally decided to stop in and grab a coffee with a friend. I was very impressed with the ample indoor and patio seating as well as the overall decor and vibe of this place. They were a little busy but their staff was able to navigate the line and get through orders quickly while still providing great customer service. We had planned to just grab a coffee and a drink but couldn’t resist trying the food menu. The burger was amazing and the pork skewers were delicious too. Definitely stop by this place for amazing coffee, drinks and delicious food 😊
Without a doubt, the best burgers in town! The Party Melt is spectacular and the fries are absolutely amazing! Their rotating taps of local beers is really well crafted and is always changing. Check them out!
Good spot for a happy hour with coworkers. Can usually get a spot for the 8 (or more) of us. The appetizers are also pretty good to snack on while we chat.
Tiny location right on Burnet- north. Has a to go drive thru next door. We enjoyed draft beer and cocktails at 4:30 on a Thursday and took the last inside table. Many remote workers getting it done here. The choices of coffee to lager to cocktails means everyone find something they like. Many outside tables available too.
This place is awesome, I’ve been here for drinks and coffee and every time the staff is friendly and attentive no matter how busy the place gets. It’s always a good mix of people, especially on Austin FC game day. Great beer selection and the coffee is fantastic. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area.
What a lovely coffee (and bar) shop. We went in to grab a coffee. We wanted to try a new café and stumbled upon Turnstile. It is also a bar and serves alcohol for those interested in grabbing a drink before heading to an FC game. Parking and accessibility: it has a bit of parking, and is wheelchair accessible. There’s also a drive-thru for those who prefer to take their order to-go Coffee: what a delightful coffee! My partner also said that it was the best iced latte he’d ever had (he added a vanilla shot fyi). As for me, I’m happy to say that the oat milk in my latte did not overpower my coffee, and I really enjoyed their coffee. Service: the barista is SO welcoming. I honestly felt like this was an inclusive establishment. Even watching the way he pays attention to his customers in line and seated, making sure that even though he is with another customer to let them know that he sees them and will get to them asap. I also loved how he made sure the coffee wasn’t just poured onto the ice, but shaken first and cooled before pouring it into the iced cup. Price: the coffee wasn’t overpriced like some of those artisanal coffee shops. You’re not paying for the theatrics of making the coffee and the frills; you’re paying for the actual coffee and the wonderful service. Definitely giving this place a 5/5 for its coffee and service. It hasn’t been easy finding good coffee in Austin. Check out Turnstile the next time you’re driving on Burnett towards The Domain.
Delicious tacos, latte and drinks and very nice service at this place. They don’t have many eating options but they have fair prices, sitting inside and outside with spacious tables. One thing I noticed and love is that the women’s bathroom smells great and even has courtesy pads and tampons available. They also have water bowls outside for thirsty pets. I know my dog appreciated that.
One of the best beer selections in all of Austin, and my favorite place to watch an Austin FC game. I also loved the fries! Harrison was a great bartender, he really knows his stuff!
Great burgers & beer. Tuesday not is Trivia at 7 pm.
Great bar and restaurant in close proximity to the domain. Nice relaxed vibes but incredible drinks and food. Patio is dog friendly, bowls available, and fresh cold water for your dog(s)! Note: not a ton of grass so make sure to walk your dog beforehand. Few TV's outside and inside. Well worth coming with a few friends for a great hangout spot. Overall, highly recommend
Want good coffee? Want a drink? Want some tacos? Want to hang out with the coolest barista/bartender in Austin? Turnstile has a great beer selection and legit coffee grounds. They have tacos, and you can order burgers in the afternoon. Great relaxing spot with indoor and outdoor seating and televisions.
Great place to enjoy all kinds of beverages and relax! They have plenty of coffee and espresso options and a full bar with some great local beers on tap. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Turnstile is locared off of Burnett close to the Domain and the new Austin FC Stadium. I will definitely return for the great beer and friendly service!
Great beers, great cocktails, great food, great people and great ambiance! Did I mention great coffee? Everything about this place is just GREAT! I live a stone throw away from this place and thus it’s our regular hangout! If you are going here for the first time, you can’t miss their garlic fries! All the cocktails are wonderful 😍
I absolutely love coming here! The Chicken Goi Salad is my favorite! Love the outside seating and the atmosphere is great!
Food, atmosphere, and drinks. Passionate staff that raise the excitement of being there. Burger was epic and beer selection is great even against Austin standards. Highly recommend.
Big fan of the appetizers here. Had the fries and the malt vinegar aioli was the right blend of savory and creamy. The beer cheese topped with the almond brittle was an amazing blend of savory, salty and went well with the pretzel bites. Service was great! Really nice mixologist that was able to handle a busy room with no problem This spot still had that older Austin vibe so definitely liked how laid back it was
Outstanding. Great craft cocktails, great vibe, patio dog and Covid friendly. Ross was an excellent bartender... Drinks were perfectly proportioned and well balanced. Beers rotate frequently and feature a ton of local breweries. They said they'd be introducing burgers soon. Definitely hit them up for an enjoyable evening.
Always stop by for drinks, either a good coffee or their beer options. It’s always a fun modern feel, the staff is always welcoming and attentive. Great place to come and relax in a afternoon
Really cool place with a great Austin vibe! The staff great and very friendly, and the music choices were awesome! I had the Turnstile burger and it was delicious! I'm not a huge fan of hops and was a little skeptical about the hops mayo, but I'm glad I tried it because it had just enough bitterness to compliment the blue cheese and richness of the other flavors. The garlic fries were also really yummy! I'll definitely be back next time I'm on the area! 🩷
Creatively designed bar and coffee house. I enjoyed the mid day boost, which combines bourbon and coffee. They have several tables inside and outside, as well as stools facing the bar and the window. They have a free parking lot wrapping around their two buildings. It's a fun place to stop for a drink on the north end of Burnett road.
Great beer selection and friendly fast service. Also very good coffee and cocktails. While burgers seem a bit pricey, they always hit the spot.
I’ve been coming to Turnstile Bar and Restaurant every weekend for the last 4 years, and it never turns stale (pun intended 😅). The coffee is always on point, the tacos hit the spot, and the vibe is just right. But the real star is Matt — he’s the best barista around and honestly the main reason we keep coming back. He makes every visit feel personal and welcoming. If you’re looking for great coffee, tasty food, and a spot that feels like home, this is it.
Great chill spot in what used to be a Sonic. The coffee, food, and service are all great. Skip the over sugared burnt Starbucks crap and come here. Fair warning, if you come in after the morning rush you will likely have to navigate the laptop bros each taking up and entire 6 person table, pacing back and forth being oh so serious and busy. It's more fun to watch than anything else.
I travel with my dog, and stopping at this place was a god send. First the barista Nancy was so sweet, and delivery a beautiful cup of latte, and yummy matcha with a shot of unsweetened peppermint extract. They have hooks for your dogs leash, and provide water and water bowls for your pup! When they notice my puppy was cold (winter visit I found two days of chilly weather.) the customers lent me blankets and a sweatshirt for my dog to stay warm. It was the perfect place to muse, and collect my thoughts for writing.
I first found Turnstile Coffee during the 2022 World Cup. I was looking for a place to sit and watch England play, and luckily this restaurant/bar was showing their games. SCORE! They have a separate building which is a drive through, so if you’re in need of a coffee, quickly….they got you covered. Inside, it’s a typical coffee, food and beer bar, but I like that. It’s small and intimate with a great chilled atmosphere. Try not to go here when Austin FC is playing, because it’s pretty much next-door to the stadium. IT. GETS. CRAZY!! They have a massive selection of drinks, ranging from cocktails to craft beers…I don’t drink, so can’t tell you how good they are 😊 I like the coffee from here, it’s tasty and rich, with a great consistency. When it comes to food, I think this is reason this place is so good. They don’t have a massive menu, but what they do have, is really well made, good ingredients and very flavorful. My favorite item on the menu is the JAMMER jerk-chicken sandwich, which is sweet, smokey and tangy and it goes great with their house cut garlic fries on the side (you pay extra for fries ☹). My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that it’s very pricey for what you get. $18 for a sandwich and fries is steep, then you add a drink on top, and quickly goes north of $20 for lunch. Price aside, it’s a great place to meet friends, drink and eat high-quality bar food. CHECK IT OUT
Local coffee shop during the morning hours with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Ideal place to catch up with friends on a weekend morning. They offer coffee along with tacos from taco deli along with sweets from lil mama’s kitchen. The banana bread was pretty good. Lots of locals visited the coffee shop while we were there. Need to try their food during lunch or dinner next time.
This coffee shop impressed with its delicious latte and friendly baristas. The cozy atmosphere, comfortable seating, and great interior design created a perfect spot to relax or meet up with someone for a chat. The convenient location makes it even more inviting. Overall, a great experience that will definitely lead to a return visit!
This establishment has a really interesting vibe and work culture. Many people were there with their computers out, planners and calendars open, deeply focused on their work. The food was good, complemented by polite staff. If anyone is looking for a place to get some work done, this might just be a lively spot to keep you motivated and well-fed.
Come the this place, Matt you are the best, John mixes our favorite gin martini and the food just sings.....love you Turnstile what a great bar, very chill vibe, really great drinks and spirit options. We has the bourbon espresso cocktail called That Midday Boost. It was just what you need when it's cold outside and you and your Love need a pick me up while out shopping. Cocktails with loved ones taste better. LOVE YOU. Round 2 and we had the Burger and Garlic Fries with truffle aoli...yes yes yes! My Love enjoyed the classic gin Martini and I and the Bourbon espresso cocktail it was perfect. You are perfect, we are perfect. Kiss kiss, love forever 🖤🖤🖤
one of my absolute favorite places in all of austin! it has a phenomenal selection of beers and cocktails. the rotating beer menu always has an impeccable range to choose from for any taste, from the simple beer fans to the most refined pallets. great burgers, amazing garlic aioli fries, and one-of-a-kind iced coffees with their homemade lavender syrup. i never cease to have a great time while i’m here, whether it’s date night or a casual work from home day. love this place with all of my heart!
Cool place, but I wish they served Carajillos! Espresso & Liquor43, can't get any simpler than that for a cocktail bar & coffee shop.
Cute spot, tried it last week with my husband, I had an espresso martini, he had a couple sour beers on tap. Nice staff, good patio spot, I’d give it 5 stars except when my husband went in to order food they told him the kitchen closed at 6pm. It was literally 559pm and we’re never been there before, a better customer service experience would be to educate us that the kitchen closes at 6pm, just so you know for future it’s about 6pm now I’ll put it in but just for future reference. We’ll probably return but we won’t be racing back here.
Great burgers and good appetizers. Awesome staff. Local chill vibes and a fun trivia night. Plus everyone was nice to my dog!
Turnstile is a hidden gem for the Church of Beer! The beer list, though not extensive, is impressive, and the option for small beers allows for delightful variety. The menu offers delicious burgers, complementing the excellent brews. The outdoor setup is perfect for dog lovers, and the vibe is pure joy, unmarred by unattended children or ill-behaved heathens. Once inside, the friendly and helpful service compensates, though they could use more staff for quicker service. Despite this, Turnstile is a divine spot for beer enthusiasts seeking a laid-back atmosphere and flavorful experiences. Cheers to Turnstile!
I visited Turnstile on a Thursday evening and had no trouble finding parking--there was a spot right in front of the outdoor seating area. It looks like Turnstile has two spaces: a small drive-through area for drinks on the left, and the main restaurant on the right. Inside, the lighting was quite dark, which actually made the outdoor seating look more inviting with its cute string lights. After ordering, I received a table number and could choose any open seat. My food arrived in about 10 minutes. I ordered the Turnstile Burger, which comes with caramelized onion jam, Amish Bleu, smoked bacon, arugula, and hops mayo. I swapped out the Amish Bleu for Jack since I'm not a fan of bleu cheese. They didn't ask how I wanted the patty cooked, but it ended up juicy and delicious. The bacon strips were crispy too. The real standout was the caramelized onion jam--it brought all the flavors together beautifully. The bun was soft and fluffy as well. That said, for $16, I expected the burger to come with a side. At a similar price point, I'd rather go to Eureka, which offers better burgers and includes a side with your order.
I met up a friend there. Got some breakfast taco and coffee. There were indoor seating and outdoor sestings. We sat outside. There were shades and fans but it got hot. The fan was not on, but we should have asked to be turned on. There were lots of parking. It got busy really fast. I was alittle confused because there was another building next to it where the food that was ordered seem to come from. It had the same name and logo of the place.
Great local coffee and brew spot. I really enjoyed the whipped feta dish and my cappuccino. The cappuccino was very bold and strong. The dip was very creamy and tangy. The vibe is converted sonic drive-in meets hipster coffee spot. There is a standalone building for the drive thru.
Neighborhood bar that serves coffee too. Interesting selection of local beers. Pricing is a little off considering it’s obscure location when Domain bars offer cheaper craft beer. Wished they had a food truck or two like many breweries in the area have to uplift the environment. Kinda drab. I don’t see another visit anytime soon.
All-day spot. Good service, although morning service seems very stressed and stretched thin. Decent coffee. "Estilio gringo" breakfast tacos (shelf stable tortillas, sliced American cheese, liquid egg product), but still costs $4.50 (!?). Better overall during afternoons and evenings. Good beer menu. Good burgers. Great spot on Austin FC days due to proximity.
Overpriced food with cheap ingredients. Loud, annoying music played on the inside. A burger and beer will set you back 30 usd (without tip). There are better places in Austin, but not by much. Most of these austin burger places are overpriced with cheap ingredients.
Our time at Turnstile wasn’t necessarily good or bad, rather it was just forgettable. Aesthetically it is a nice bar with indoor and outdoor options that make it feel like an alcohol centric cafe. It’s dog friendly and parking isn’t too hard to find. We went and sat outdoors with some friends and our dog (they have water bowls for them too). You head inside to order and the interior is nice, again, feeling like a bar/cafe hybrid. We ordered two cocktails which came out to around $25 total which was a bit steep considering it’s not like we were in The Domain, but I guess that’s just a taste of North Austin for you. Drinks also took a bit long to come out as they only had one person behind the bar taking both orders and making drinks. The cocktails were alright, the paper plane was pretty standard but the front porch lemonade wasn’t very good, just didn’t really have the sweetness of lemonade you’d hope for. We didn’t order any food so we can’t speak to that but they do seem to have some decent options. Ultimately, our time at Turnstile was pretty unremarkable, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but in an area with the amount of bars it has, you may want to skip out on this one.
Good beer, good location, abysmal ordering situation == frustrating wait time. Not really fault of staff, needs order-by-barcode and probably a few more employees. Help them out and cover drinks for your friends instead of paying individually!
I’d love to love this place but they don’t seem to have it together. Every morning they are sold out of tacos by 9am and they don’t offer lunch until 11:30a.
Edit: After being here on multiple occasions recently, the quality has tanked consistently each time. Please do better than serving hummus and a loose blue cheese dip without pita bread and solely vegetables not typically eaten with either. It's one thing to fuse different cultural foods, but this was sheer laziness. I was offered a spoon to eat the dipping sauces before I suggested Ritz crackers. The drinks have severely tanked as well. And at nearly $20 a drink, I expect better. Service also hasn't been nearly as friendly as previously. It's honestly somewhat baffling. Previous review: Couldn't eat because the restaurant side was closed but the coffee cocktail was delicious and the atmosphere is nice.
My fiancé and I walked in and we were not greeted by anyone so we sat ourselves. Then while we were waiting for menu's one of the guys walked over to the door and put a sign on the door that said "the kitchen was closed for the day" and then walked back behind the counter. I felt really discriminated against so we left. We drove back by there like an hour later and the sign was taken down. All I have to say is they are not friendly at all to black people 😒 definitely won't be going back there again
At 10:45 on a Saturday night, they told us it was last call and asked if we wanted to order anything else, despite their website stating they close at midnight. A few minutes later, I tried to order another drink from the bartender who had mentioned last call, but he wasn’t paying attention to me. The blonde lady, who had been chatting with either a customer or a friend (or both), abruptly stopped her conversation and gave me a bewildered look, as if it was unreasonable to ask to order another drink through her to the other bartender. She had nothing but attitude and a totally taken aback expression, even though she wasn’t attending to anyone and spent the entire time talking to her friend, completely ignoring the customers. No wonder they were closing up nearly an hour and a half before their advertised closing time on a Saturday night. Yikes, I won’t be returning. I see other similar reviews about her attitude on her as well. Sad.
I'm very disappointed that I ordered a salad and it is so tiny for $15. ($19 after tax and tip). I have come a couple of times and the burgers were pricy but decent.. felt like something lighter today and ordered the salad for $12. Added checken for another $3. I feel completely ripped off. On top of receiving side salad portion for meal price, the avocado is brown and not fresh.
