Cafe Metropole

AMAZING. Just moved to the island temporary, & cafe metropole is one of my favorites on the islands. Outstanding other restaurants. Great selection of foods & juices. I love their smoothie smoothies, I had their veggie wrap & another time their breakfast burrito. Everything is always fresh & delicious. Thank you for great food.

Turkey Sandwich was good fresh..potato salad wasn't house maid..other than that it was ok..

We enjoyed a nice salad that was tasty, fresh and very well prepared and presented. Their iced tea was some sort of tropical flavor and very refreshing. They have a little outdoor seating area as well as a new indoor table and chairs. The staff were polite, cordial and efficient.

Cafe Metropole changed ownership and their menu since I visited last. They used to be more vegan friendly but they still have some vegan options, though they are more expensive than they use to be and maybe not quite as good. This is still one of the most vegan friendly restaurants on the island.

Excellent food, helpful and kind staff. We ate here 3 times in 3 days. Everything was delicious. Not fast food as it was prepared to order, but it didn't take too long. It's nice to sit outside with entertainment. We will be back next time we visit Avalon.

Such a cute place to eat on Catalina! The service was friendly and the food was healthy and delicious. They had a lot of choices that centered around quality food.

I chose to come here because of the great reviews. I got a beet juice and an egg/quinoa/veggies wrap. It was piping hot with good flavors even without cheese. It was filling and I liked my choice. Beet just was fantastic. Refreshing and a better taste than most fresh juices. You pay for quality ingredients so expect the price to be a little higher than other places nearby. But it was yummy and the menu had lots to choose from. Patio seating outside had lots of space and was quite peaceful and enjoyable.

Highly recommend for breakfast/lunch BUT they only serve black coffee. No espresso drinks and no milk options to add to your black coffee but international delight creamer singles.

We were having trouble finding a quality place for a quick bite that wasn't overpriced. This place was perfect. Really surprised by how rich and tender my Cubano sandwich was!

I had a delicious bacon Metropole burrito (breakfast) and it was generous portion. For coffee, they only have hot black coffee (real coffee) but you can add cream and sugar if you want. Their prices are compatible with the rest of the island. I definitely will eat there again!

I appreciate the smoothies and fresh juices. I have tried the green machine and the raspberry one. Both solid taste. It's one of a few places, where you can get a nice smoothie, so highly appreciated!

We had a group of 5 people here for a quick lunch. They are probably the most vegan friendly restaurant on the island. They have all kinds of stuffed avocado, hot veggie panini, and cold veggies sandwiches. I had veggie panini which was awesome. Among all the vegan dishes we got, this was voted the best. Chickpea sandwich was presto good too. The veggie stack was alright. Turnkey sandwich was good, according to my nephew. Their smoothie were very refreshing especially during the hot days. Strawberry and bananas or pineapple coconut smoothie were both good. Highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a fresh and casual meal.

They have a wide array of options for carnivores and vegans. The prices are bit high but they do give you a fair portion size for the food given. I got the cold tuna salad sandwich and muenster cheese with sweet potato fries and the pb n a smoothie. Everything was fresh and authentic and all the flavors blended well on my palate the perfect summer combo that met my diet goals. Close to the beach waterfront. Definitely my favorite breakfast spot on the island. Total bill was $29

It is a little challenging finding vegan options here on the island but this was impressive. I even came back a second time and got a chickpea sandwich.

We loved this Cafe! We ate here for Breakfast and Lunch every day we were in Catalina because it was perfect, quick service and delicious clean meals. I got the Chicken Bacon Avocado sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was delicious Definitely would recommend!

Cute cafe with lots of patio seating. Cubano was delicious with generous amounts of pork and thick slice of ham. Lots of options on the menu for breakfast and lunch

This was a great spot to grab lunch at on Catalina island. There were a lot of vegetarian and vegan options as well. I got the cubano and it was really good. I got a side of sweet potato fries and they are probably the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had.

I enjoyed the chickpea salad sandwich and the yummy butternut squash soup, and my friend got a super-tasty avo toast. They also had some yummy juice options--the Island Foxy is fantastic if you like ginger! Service was friendly and took an appropriate time for making fresh food and hot soup--we could tell that they didn't just have premade stuff they pulled out of a fridge. The atmosphere is basic, a few indoor tables with more seating on a patio outside, but it's a normal cafe setting rather than a fancy restaurant, so we though it was fine. The cafe is located on the outer edge of the Metropole Marketplace, so it's easy to get to from anywhere in Avalon. We'll be happy to return the next time we're on Catalina.

Our go-to spot during our vacation! We went here twice, once for lunch and again for breakfast. The breakfast burrito with sausage is absolutely delicious! Great menu options and lots of outdoor seating. I wish I had this place back home

Stayed on the island for several days and this was our favorite spot for a quick bite! Everything was so fresh and had so many healthy options! We had the BL+A with sweet potato fries, tuna sandwich, Mediterranean salad, and the raspberry tropics smoothie. Everything was amazing! One of the best tuna sandwiches I’ve ever had! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Food was always quick and hot!

This cafe was really cute. There were two options that could be made vegan, a sandwich and a salad. I loved the salad, the sandwich was ok. I did really appreciate their beautiful outside terrace on that sunny day and the friendly staff. Some live tropical music in the background got me in the island mood. Great salad and toasted sandwich. Drinks added a lot to the bill, would’ve been happy with tap water but evidently that’s not a thing on Catalina.

Cozy gem. We had a delicious breakfast with great service and a relaxed vibe. Definitely a spot I’d return to!

Love the location & outdoor seating but the food is too salty! Ordered a prime rib sandwich and a potato soup, both are very salty! It's not a prime rib, it looks like a beef salami! I need to take out the meat!

They do not give you a cup of water. It's illegal in California not to give water to clients in restaurants. Food was good.

Had to wait very long multiple times to get my food, even on non busy days. Food is expensive especially considering the small portions, but the quality of the food seems to be good. No wifi and few places to sit inside.

Overall very average, the service was awful. I entered and the cashier was talking to her friends and turned around as soon as she “pretending” to punch me! She was rude and extremely rushing and sassy. Then if not that i almost felt obligated to tip, practically all the tables were dirty and the same woman was yelling to her friends whilist i was eating. The service couldnt have been worse by a teenager. The food was okay, extremely overpriced as if paying 20+$ for a single gyro was average. And gave me “mixed greens” thats about as comparable to a rabbits daily diet. Not to mention the already small container for sauce was 1/4 full. What a shitty tourist trap. 50$ for 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches.

My friend and I dined here for lunch expecting a great experience considering the 4.5 star review. We were poorly mistaken. First of all, when I was ordering I tried to order a smoothie and they said they were out of ALL of them except two of them. That was the first red flag. But I order a turkey and avocado sandwich as normal, skipping the drink. We ordered and paid by 1:03pm and take a seat at a table in the outside seating area. 1:27pm comes around and we’re wondering where our food is at as it’s been almost 30mins. I walk in to check and find there is a group who ordered after us eating their food. That’s the second red flag. I ask the person taking orders for an update and she says it’s being prepared, so I go back to sit outside. 10 minutes later, the same person comes out and says they’ve run out of turkey… Could someone tell me why I was I even allowed to order a sandwich and the main part of the sandwich has completely run out??? And to find this out after over 40 minutes of waiting for it is ridiculous to say the least. But I say fine, replace it with ham. I receive my order 10 minutes later and it’s… a completely different menu item…. That costs less than the item I ordered on the menu😂😂 So NOW they have me paying more for LESS! I asked for the difference back but I should’ve just requested a refund. On top of that, the person I was with ordered right before me and didn’t even get their food before mine. So she goes in and asks for an update and it takes another 10 minutes, which means they weren’t even preparing the order before then. Crazy. And we received not a single apology from the staff of course because why should they be sorry for keeping us waiting for an extended period of time without communication, serving others before us who ordered after and, finally, serving the completely WRONG menu item… never again. The sandwich was alright.
