This place is GREAT! I come multipke times a week when we come down for our yearly vacation. This time I had the swordfish bites and the next day had the flounder which is in the picture. I can honestly say this is the BEST flounder I have ever eaten. Soft, tender, flakey, doesn't taste fishy at all. The drinks are amazing and the staff is wonderful. I HIGHLY recommend this place and I'll continue to come every time I'm this way. Please don't miss out on this wonderful experience. You can thank me later ☺️👏❤️

Ended up going here two or three times in the few days of being at Kure Beach. One of the less expensive eateries in the area with better hours, especially in the off-season. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The time we ended up eating there, we accidentally came in shortly before close, but they were completely fine with seating and waiting on us, and didn't make us feel rushed at all. The entire restaurant has a cool ship-like theme with great menu variety. The first time I ever ate here, I got the tuna teriyaki, and ended up getting it the very next time, years later. Highly suggest asking about the catch of the day, even if you're unsure if you want it. Got a swordfish steak and glad I asked.

I loved loved the clams appetizer had to order again after finishing our food. Came to the beach for a quick break and fresh air. Our server was wonderful. For lunch had the flounder and shrimp.

Went in for dinner and got seated right away. We got the crab dip as an appetizer and it came out quick and was hot and tasty. We got the Captain's platter to split. The food came out quickly and had nice portions. Everything was well cooked and tasty. Service was friendly. We would go back again. It was the best place we ate in town while visiting here.

Friends took us here. 1st time for us & 2nd time this week for them. Seafood was great & lots of locals hanging out as it is off season. Scallops, shrimp, flounder - all very good - tastes great! Certainly a great place to seek out next trip to Kure Beach. Restrooms handicap accessible & parking lot small, with plenty of street parking - at the right time of the year.

Stopped in here on vacation for dinner. Our server Shelly was kind attentive and patient. She gave honest and great recommendations. My wife and father in law had the crab legs, they both seemed pleased. My kids had chicken tenders and shrimp. I invoked dad tax instantly and tried some of the tenders, some of the best kids tenders I’ve ever had! I had the salmon club. It is HUGE! Overall great experience!

Phenomenal food and service! We sat in the outdoor seating and it was very comfortable! The service was quick and very friendly which gave a great experience overall! The catch of the day was Wahoo and the special appetizer was ceviche and that was very tasty! The food came out quick and hot! We were too full for desert but their desert options looked great as well as their drink selection! The atmosphere was definitely beachy and reflected well for being a beachside restaurant. I highly recommend

Phenomenal staff, delicious food and great ambiance. Fried calamari was fresh and well seasoned. My husband got a grouper wrap but devoured it before I got a picture 😋 all of our food was served in a timely manner. Highly Recommend!!

Visited twice while staying in Kure Beach. Has been a favorite restaurant to go to for years because the food is good, serving size is ample, service is very good. There prices are as expected.

The food was alright, nothing special. The prices were appropriate for the quality of food served. The service was a bit underwhelming. They were friendly but not overly optimistic or engaging like other establishments. I think the lunch specials are worth the price, I got the Swordfish bites and homemade chips. The chips were pretty good.

We did not have the best experience. Service was pretty slow. Polite, but very slow. The food was ok. I got the catch of the day. Mahi Mahi. Blackened. The flavor was faint and the fish was dry. My daughter's shrimp was fine. The seafood dip was ok. We were a bit disappointed. Looked good. But taste was meh.

We were here for lunch. Our food was good, not great but good. The catfish bites had an unpleasant aftertaste. This is the second eatery in Kure Beach that we had fish with this strange aftertaste. Most of our order was appetizers except the chicken wrap. The chips were really good, the shrimp was good, and the chicken wrap was good. I would recommend you try out this restaurant.

Shared a meal with my family on a Friday evening. This one. I’m trying to be healthier so I ordered the Jacks Platter broiled. $30. Let me clarify that to have your seafood broiled it is a $2 up charge so the whole ticket comes out to $32. The plates started coming out and all my families plates were fried. Heaping plates. Fat, juicy, portions. That pic of fried flounder is what my dad got. My plate comes and the picture down below is what I got. In that picture I had nibbled some of the shrimp jerky and some clam jerky. I was able to get pics of the size comparisons. The manager comes and is very nice. I point out the differences and he explains that the portions are the same but broiling makes them smaller. He offers me more shrimp and I accept. They gave me an excellent helping of shrimp that was clearly broiled correctly. The staff were very nice. No complaints there. What would recommend to anyone dining is don’t accept what I received. Send it back and have them redo it. What I recieved was not worth $32 until he gave me extra fries and a butt load of shrimp. Thank you, Jack Mackerel’s, for making it right.

I'm walking into the restaurant tonight in my work boots and a flannel jacket to get my to-go order. Order my to go order and was trying to order a drink while waitiing at the of the bar. The bartender walk by me without saying a word to me the whole time playing with her hair and serving food, seven times she walked by me. As I sat there getting a little agitated, not saying nothing though because that's disrespectful they were busy.. Beverly the manager I guess could tell I was getting aggravated and had the gall to get in my face 5 in away and snap at me and tell me they were busy I would just have to wait then I had to give my order to a waitress to get me to the bartender... No thank you not a hello total disrespect to the customer.. I was in there two nights ago got a little bit of money at the bar this is what I get in return.. my stepmother used to run Smitty's and a crow's nest down here Kure Beach. So I kind of know how the restaurant business works. I will not be back Beverly their manager gives me a public apology, for A getting it in my face and B disrespecting me as a customer Merry Christmas
