Upscale. Lucky to have such a great spot in the suburbs for fine dining. The menu is inventive and very tasty. The service is friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. One small thing but not sure why they don't serve bread. Not to worry, the food is great and they have an excellent wine and cocktail selection. Enjoy.

We went here for the first time for my mother’s birthday and really enjoyed ourselves! Kevin was amazing and took great care of us…among many other tables, but still made us feel special. We started with complimentary bread, which was very soft, warm and tasty. Next, we had two appetizers: bang bang cauliflower and exotic mushrooms, which were very unique dishes, but also very delicious. The bang bang sauce was simply the best! Then we had our entrees and they had sooooo much flavor and great presentation. We were so full afterwards, but had to have dessert for the birthday girl. We tried the chocolate mousse which had decadent flavor that wasn’t too heavy. Overall, we really enjoyed our time and will go back. We would definitely want Kevin again as he made the night feel special!

Never disappointed! We’ve visited Region many times over several years and we’re consistently blown away by the food, service and the atmosphere. Our server, Joselyn was friendly, attentive and well-informed on the menu. If you want to try what we enjoyed, start with small plates Bellweather Ricotta, Chateaubriand crostini, and follow with Chicken Parmesan and Short Ribs - all amazingly delicious ! Save room for the Sticky English Toffee pudding! Out of this world. OMG- I’m still stuffed but so delighted with the entire experience.

I had a fantastic meal there for the first time my parents are frequent flyers. I had the duck confit which was fantastic. The meatloaf was tender, the bacon was fantastic and the bread is great. We had the waiter Kevin he was amazing super on top of his stuff and knew everything about the menu. Highly recommend

Wednesday night it was pretty busy but they had reservations available for 7pm. Regarding libations, Mr Birdwatch was a good tangy gin cocktail. Through the looking glass old fashioned was nothing special. There has been enough said about the bang bang cauliflower that I think I can leave it at that. The Walleye was excellent. Crispy, creamy, great flavor. The ribeye was juicy and came with a beefy, velvet sauce. Overall, a great experience and looking forward to trying their other menu options!

Came to celebrate my anniversary here. It was a bit of a rocky start but I've never been to a restaurant who strives to make the rest of our dinner pleasant as possible! All the food was great, i didn't have a bad dish. The drinks were satisfying and well proportioned. The staff was friendly, and the manager was accommodating. I would definitely return here.

Wow - it's so great to be back here! Dined at Region heavily throughout 2018 and last month when a couple of friends treated me here for a belated birthday and new job celebration! My friend and I had originally asked to be seated in Kevin's section last night for our 8:30 reservation, but unfortunately, a gentleman had a medical emergency in Kevin's section (that customer was, fortunately, cared for quickly and efficiently by Region's staff and Barrington paramedics). But, my friend and I were instead, seated in Kara's section! She was GREAT-- VERY attentive, pleasant, good humored and efficient!!! Our dinner was awesome too! For appetizers, we had the Bang Bang Cauliflower and Sashimi Tuna Tartare; for entrees, my friend had the Cioppino, I had the 14 oz. Ribeye and a lobster tail; we shared sides of the corn crème brûlée and asparagus! All the food was incredibly, wonderfully fresh, hearty and flavorful! The ambiance was just as we remembered it when we first dined here 7 years ago: sexy, chic understated and elegant. There were also a lot of young, attractive and well dressed folks there last night -- definitely not the Old Country Buffet demographic! We would definitely come back and HOPEFULLY get seated in Kevin's section (he was our FAVORITE server at 2 Lake Zurich restaurants: D&J Bistro, where he worked for almost 15 years and then at Lago, where he worked prior to joining Region).

It says alot if an upscale restaurant in the burbs is packed on a Wednesday night!

We're big fans of this place. We love their drink menu. We had the pleasure of meeting Chad, the bartender. The Espresso martini and the Cosmopolitan were perfect! The food was excellent as always. I just forgot to get the pics on the Duck Confit and Filet Mignon Meanloaf. Both were awesome!

Region Restaurant is always a treat. Their seasonal menu offers an exciting take on what's fresh during a particular season. Their bang bang cauliflower is a must-try! It's the best cauliflower appetizer in the northwest suburbs! Recently, we tried the crabcake appetizer, and it was very good. When it comes to entrees, the NY strip with truffle crust was excellent. The pan roasted duck confit was okay, I was expecting something more spicy and a duck breast. Instead, the entree consisted of 2 duck legs/thighs and was rather sweet. The server was kind enough to exchange my dinner for a butter crusted walleye. This dish was really good, and I am glad the server was so helpful. The kids loved their petite filet mignon, cheese pizza, and chicken fingers. Region also has great cocktails! Overall, Region offers great food, pleasant servers, and a great atmosphere - it is a must-try restaurant in the NW suburbs!

The restaurant serves thoughtfully prepared New American food with seasonal ingredients with many steak and seafood items. I've been there 6 times and have enjoyed the food and service each time. They have both small and large plates that are great for intimate or larger gatherings.

I wish I had tried this place sooner! The appetizer menu is amazing with plenty of options and was very hard to choose from. I eventually chose with our waitress suggestion the ricotta and prosciutto served with crusty bread and sliced almonds. Delicious! Could not get enough and the honey added to this dish just made all the ingredients taste even better! The bacon wrapped dates MELTED in our mouths. Our drinks were so refreshing, perfect for a warm summer night on their terrace or patio. A fabulous place for families, date night or girls night out.

Our latest visit was for a friend's birthday. They accommodated our party of six on the enclosed patio which was very comfortable. As usual, the food was fantastic and the service was wonderful. We all had different dishes and each one was artfully prepared and served. Everything was great and we will be back.

Came here for my anniversary dinner with my wife and it didn't disappoint! Unique menu, amazing food, delicious drinks, and great atmosphere. The English sticky toffee pudding was absolutely amazing and perfect end to the meal.

Outstanding meal and terrific service. The restaurant has a nice vibe and they are taking all the precautions needed to keep patrons and staff safe. We loved the Bang Bang Cauliflower, Hot Rock Steak and Peacanwood Bacon Wrapped Dates (we had 2) for apps. Entrees enjoyed by our party included the scallops, salmon, beef short ribs (ah-mazing) and a special steak meatloaf. If course we had to have dessert and shared a pumpkin cake and a carmel bread pudding. Can't wait to go back!

I don't know why this resturants is a still a secret being passed from person to person. The food is marvelous and a perfect backdrop for a romatic dinner with your honey. Every seasonal soup warms the soul. I am not a pumpkin guy, but the pumpkin soup is a bowl full of fall tastes and smells. We get the spicy cauliflower and the steak tartare every time. They had a special bourbon drink with cabernet foam which is a must have for all Old Fashion fans. Oh! If you are a choclate fan if you don't get the chocolate mouse you are cheating yourself. The service is warm and inviting. It's worth going waaaay out of your way for this one.

This has become our favorite local restaurant. We recently went for the first time, and enjoyed two apps with our meals. We later decided that we needed to conclude our dining experience with two desserts. Everything was delicious, expertly prepared. One looks at my photos should answer all of your questions about dining here.

WOW! This place is awesome! First time here. Staff friendly. Drinks were good. Had the tuna on the 500° rock for appetizer. Seabass for the main course. Toffee pudding for dessert. Absolutely amazing. I'm definitely coming back. Highly recommend to anyone!

It's surprising to have such quality restaurant in the suburbs. The service was great! The waiter was very friendly and just the right amount of attentive. The food was excellent! Bacon wrapped dates and the mushroom fricassee were the favorite of the serval small plates we ordered. Although the rest were also very enjoyable. Below are the pictures of the san francisco style cioppino and the praline crusted lake superior walleye which were both incredibly delicious. I recommend saving room for dessert. Both the english sticky toffee pudding and the crème brulée were fantastic.

This is a gem of an establishment. The food is phenomenal, from the appetizers, to entrees, to desserts. Even the cocktails! For appetizers, we had the octopus, beef Wellington bites, chicken lollipops, bang bang cauliflower, and bacon wrapped dates. For an entree, I had the lamb chops, my husband had the ribeye, and some friends had the sea bass, salmon, and chicken. Everyone raved about their meal. For dessert, we had the key lime pie (probably the best we have ever had), creme brulee, English toffee pudding, and mini donuts. The service matches the top notch quality of the food. I would reccomend this place to anyone, and would happily choose it over any steak house ( including Gibson's and Mortons). They take time in each dish they serve, not just their meats. I plan on returning in the near future. The photos include my lamb chops and our dessert assortment.

Region has a well rounded menu with thoughtful, timeless dishes that are beautifully plated. Just the right amount of options to please anyone. Great selection of fish as well as meat focused appetizers and entrees. Extensive wine list and innovative cocktails. Highly recommend.

Came here for date night - ordered the bang bang cauliflower (so good!), the stuffed filet mignon and pistachio crusted spring lamb rack. We were very satisfied with our meals - full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Our waitress was very informative, suggested some crowd favorites, and was able to answer every question we asked. We had the key lime pie to finish the meal and it was just OK, would likely skip dessert next time. Would love to see some spirit free drinks on the menu in the future!

This is one of the best restaurants in Northwest suburbs. I thought I already reviewed it but apparently I did not. We go here a few times a year. I would eat there every day if I could afford it.

When my husband and I are able to sneak away from the kids for a couple hours for dinner and drinks we love going to regional. What makes it even better is having Evelyn as our server! She’s so amazing and pays attention to every detail! She knows the menu inside and out and is so delightful!

The food and service were wonderful. The braised beef short rib was among the best ive ever had. Our waitress was attentive without being pushy. Will definitely go again.

Everything about this place is amazing. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, the service from Kevin was excellent. The food itself would get 10 stars. The bartenders make the best martinis anywhere in the area. It s a perfect place for a special occasion, a relaxed but still romantic date night or anything in between.

The food is always phenomenal. I have never been disappointed by anything here, but tonight we had an added bonus— Our server, Brandi was incredible. She was on top of everything and so very kind! I will be asking for her every time. Can't wait to come back!

Love this place! Staff super friendly and attentive and rock solid cuisine. San Fran Cioppino always yummy. Their burgers are amazing too. I tried their Good Vibrations cocktail and would literally comeback just for that! Been here many times and look forward to another meal there!

Region has one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Visited to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday last month, and just had it again last night because we were both craving the burger. We had a very silent dinner as we were both eating as fast as we could. I swear they must cook the burgers with love. Would highly highly recommend.

Went to this classy restraunt for Anniversary dinner with my husband. We had reservations and we were seated immediately after checking in. We had the best booth in the house which looked out on the patio. This lovely venue is conversation friendly. We had Kevin as our server and he was top notch. Knowledgeable and friendly. Kevin is a gem. He brought us a surprise dessert to celebrate our anniversary.Food was fantastic. Steak on a rock, Bang Bang Cauliflower etc. It's all 👍 good. Enjoy. We'll be back.

Great ambiance (holiday decor was fabulous)! My husband can't wait to go back for the bang bang cauliflower app, but all 4 of our dinners were fabulous! Our granddaughter really enjoyed the bacon appetizer. And our waitress, Kara, was an absolute delight! We can't wait to go back there.

We just had our anniversary dinner here and everything was spectacular. The restaurant was busy but we were seated in about 5 minutes, friendly staff and excellent food. Our server Kevin K. Was excellent! Cannot recommend this place enough!

Region is a dressy casual resaurant- excellent service, a quiet refined atmosphere along with a unique variety of foods and ingredients. It's the kind of place you go to with dear friends when you want to chat, catch up and have a leisurely meal. Our group tried a variety of foods- lamb chops, walleye, cod and paella- all very fresh, tasty and generous portions.

Krystal was our server and she was amazing! We showed up around 8pm (they close at 9), but she never made us feel rushed at all. I used to be a server for over 10 years, so l know how that last hour can feel - I really appreciated her patience and how friendly she was. I was going to skip dessert, but when she insisted, we gave in - and I'm so glad we did. The Sticky English Toffee Pudding was out of this world. I'd honestly go back just for that (and the Mushroom Fricassee e). The apps and one side were kind of meh. The Clothesline Bacon was fun, but the pickles were actually my favorite part. The Crab Ceviche didn't have much crab, and the Brussels Sprouts were mostly loose leaves to make the plate look full. Mike got the Etouffee, which was a little spicy for him but still good - he finished it! I liked his dish more than my Paella, which had rice that felt slightly undercooked but was still tasty overall. One thing I wish they had is a spirit-free or mocktail menu. We don't drink but love a good zero-proof option, so hopefully they'll add that in the future.

We enjoyed Regions Kitchen and Bar on Saturday night with four other friends. We had 6:30 reservations but had to wait a half hour to be seated. The restaurant compensated for the delay by buying us all a free drink in the bar. That was a very generous response! The atmosphere is fun and warm and we enjoyed the Stags Leap Cabernet and a couple of cocktails. I split a coleslaw salad with pork belly and that was a nice combination. I ordered the filet mignon meatloaf with carrots, green beans, mushrooms and mashed potatoes and the meatloaf didn’t taste like filet mignon. It just tasted like an average meatloaf. That said, everyone else in our party loved their meals (short ribs, pork chops, salmon). So the kitchen got almost everything right. We enjoyed cinnamon donuts and sorbet for dessert. It was a lovely evening and we’ll all come back here again.

I want to start off by saying this would have been a 5-star review; however, our visit started with terrible hospitality. Bar/hightops are supposedly open seating. We showed up early to our reservation to try and grab one. I had just sat down at a cleared table when one hostess told us they were giving it to someone. We then proceeded to have another hostess seat a couple who arrived after us and heard her say something along the lines of "I'll always have a table for you". Regulars here seem to get extra treatment, which is unfortunate for any new customers coming to dine. Now to the meal....our actual waitress was knowledgeable and personable. She gave fantastic food recommendations. Service was quick. Flavor of the food was absolutely top notch. Compliments to the chef. Food reviews: Tuna tartare-chili sauce gave a lovely heat to the bite. Crispy rice added fantastic texture. Definitely would recommend Short rib-so tender and flavorful. No knife needed. Sea bass-glaze gave a nice umami flavor combined with the charred tops of the broccolini and rice. Sticky toffee pudding-One of the best I've had. Cake was served warm and was extremely fluffy on the inside. Ice cream balanced out the bite with just the right amount of richness

Great food and vibe, and wonderful gluten friendly options and seasonal creations. Great place to celebrate special events or for a fancy date night.

We finally found ourselves time to visit after we learned the chef was a former chef at Montarra Grill, another favorite. The atmosphere is great. Hey stylish decor and the bar seems well stocked. My only concern was how tight the entrance is given you are snug with the bar as soon as you enter. We sat outside and had a very lovely experience. Our server was great, very informative and suggestive on what to try. Most of the food we ordered was great. I had the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. I would skip the "crust" topping option though, it didn't add anything to the dish. Overall a solid experience that didn't break the bank.

The hostess was snooty when talking about our seating arrangement, and then tried to seat us in a deserted corner outside. Our waitress was great. Drinks top notch. Had mussels and bacon wrapped dates, they were both good, although the mussels were big and tender, they tasted a little fishy to me. Had the shrimp and grits, not impressed. Shrimps were small and could barely find any grits in the dish. Husbands filet meatloaf had a spice in it I just personally didn’t like. The best dish was the corn brûlée, wow! Overall we both gave it 4 out of 5. Good prices and atmosphere.

M
Mary Engel

We enjoyed our food and service quite a bit. Evelyn was fun and attentive. The corn creme brulee was a fun surprise and worth trying. Loved the ribs.

S
Scott Klein

Meh. Go to Chili’s. Save $100. You’ll have enough light to be able to read your menu, and the food will be the same caliber.

M
Mark Walker

Was ok . Menu selections good but the food was cold and my wife's steak was overcooked. Atmosphere was nice but very crowded at the desk as you enter creating bottleneck and difficult bar pickup for the servers. Server was very good.

J
J R

The absolute slowest service of all the times we have been here. Lauri? Hardly paid attention to our table. Brought our wine when our food was almost done. Then basically laughed about it when she got to table. Not worth $300+. This place has slipped quite a bit. Food was still good but 2.5 hours was a death march. Likely our last time there considering that the time before this everyone got food poisoning from the hot rock.

N
Ngosa L Babaletskos

My walleye fish filet wasn't fresh, tasted frozen then covered in sauces. Dinning area was too dark. Staff were wonderful, friendly and professional.

K
Kate Seemann

I don’t usually like leaving negative reviews, but unfortunately mediocrity seems to be becoming the norm, which is very disappointing. The wine selection was poor, our server seemed inexperienced and disappeared after bringing the bottle, and it took over an hour for our food to arrive. My partner’s steak was badly overcooked, and my salad lacked any presentation. Overall, a very underwhelming experience.
