We have been here many times. Food is always excellent. Staff is very nice (old-school NY style service). Price is good considering the quality. Some dishes to try: Mateo chop salad, the raviolis (especially for kids), shrimp Luciano, baked clams.

Beautiful restaurant & bar. The service and the food were excellent. My family of 4 Went last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. Their food is family style. We had a half order of fried calamari, half order of Cesar salad, full orders of penne alla vodka & chicken parm and we had enough of each to take home. They give a complimentary fruit platter with whipped cream to the table after dinner and we ordered cappuccino & chocolate brownie alla mode. I told them it was my husband's birthday and they brought out a slice of ice cream cake with a beautiful sparkler candle in it and sang with us too! Everything was delicious. We will definitely be back. It's a great place to go for a celebratory event. I wish I took pictures of the food but everybody dug right in as soon as it was placed on the table.

This was my 2nd time here in 3 years for a private party and both times they did a very good job for us. The different courses where tasty and I don't have a single bad thing to say. The waiters and bar tenders were all very accommodating. The chicken Ala vodka parm was fantastic. As was the roasted chicken and sausage with vegetables/potatoes. I would certainly come here again for a normal dinner with friends or family. So many Italian restaurants are blah to me and unexciting in every way. I almost never pick Italian as an option when I go out. So far there are only 2 on the island that I've had and would go to by choice and Matteos is one of them.

Some people are impossible to lease. I was at at Bithday Party this weekend. The food was Delicious and Fresh! Service outstanding. Plenty to eat for everyone. I am considering having an event there soon.

All the food was so good, and you get a great amount of food for each dish. The service was also great, very quick and efficient and the waiters were super nice and helpful

First time here and it was amazing!! Some of the best Italian food on Long Island and the portions are huge. Our server Bryan was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. He helped make sure we ordered the perfect amount of food and suggested some delicious dishes. We will definitely be returning soon. Highly recommend!!

Had a great experience at Matteo's from start to finish our waiter Joshua was excellent ,friendly, & very attentive.we started out with 2 glasses of wine nice pour.For our appetizer we had the fried calamari more than enough for 2 people.Dinner was fillet of sole oreganatta & chicken franchise both were excellent.We will definitely be going back TY 4 a great experience

We were visiting family who live in massapequa from out of town. My 6-year-old wanted Italian food. I'm so happy we came here from a recommendation from my aunt. Our waiter was very funny and so kind to tell us in advance how humongous the portions are. I had linguine clam sauce which was phenomenal!! My son had fettuccine Alfredo and he said it was the best he's ever had. My husband had the most delicious spicy chicken francese. There was so much food we took most of it home. The prices are phenomenal. A beautiful atmosphere and a wonderful dinner. We will be missing this in Florida!

Try the veal, its the best in the city!! I've been getting wined & dined at Matteo's for a long time now & the fried veal sorrentino is still among the best veal in the area!! The shrimp & clams pasta is a BANGER!! And we cant forget about that homemade whip cream napoleon! The best napoleon you will ever get at a restaurant!!

This is a tough review since I don't usually like family style restaurants. The service was good. The portions were good. The owners gave you a choice to order whole or half portions. The food was good. The place doesn't take reservations and this is why I dropped a star. If you get to the place early you will enjoy it.

Warm welcome and great service throughout. Sat at the bar and enjoyed one of the best veal dishes I've ever had.

Italian family style. Antipasto dish was great. The fish and pasta dishes were delicious. The chicken dish was light on chicken. Probably use one breast to pound into 3 cutlets. Drinks at the bar were very pricey, and they needed a second bartender.

Nice place. Wasn't crowded for a Fri night 730ish. Picked up around 830-9. Food was very good! Fried calamari and baked clams were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The veal marsala was delish! I had gluten free penne with marsala sauce. Probably one of the best GF pastas I've had. Would be 5stars if waiter didn't forget about us and fired our dishes late. People sat after us were onto dessert before we got our entres

I’ve visited many Italian favorites on our beautiful island. I’ll say for here, the food was good! Stuffed mushrooms and cold anti-past were pretty good. Cold seafood salad was fresh and delicious. Italian favorites, eggplant chicken veal were also pretty good but there was no “must come back” moment. Server and staff could’ve and should have been more attentive. . Bartender was NOT accommodating to our party, she appeared annoyed and she blew it! In this business you must put on a happy face because you never know who is who!

Family and friends recently had a surprise birthday party, staff was very helpful and attentive. Good selections of food and everything was very good. Will return for just a night out for dinner soon. There is street parking in paid parking lots, the street parking you may have to search a little bit to get a good spot.

Food is good, but service has been horrible last few times and everytime I call order in for pickup they always mess up order and give wrong dish. Disappointing!

Disappointed tonight! Ordered Eggplant Parm which was lukewarm to cold. I'm not one to return my food to the kitchen so ate it the way it was. Would be nice if pasta was included on the side, but it's not. Stuffed mushroom appetizer was delicious.They've discontinued the fruit & biscotti after dinner. Fruit is now $8 & $2 per biscotti. For dessert ordered vanilla Häagen-Dazs. Served in an overly large bowl w/two very small scoops. Asked for choc syrup on top. Rec'd about 1/2 a spoonful drizzled on top. My husband's dinner was delicious & hot. Last year I ordered Chicken Parm & again came out cold. That time I had to return it. Won't be returning anytime soon. To pay the amount of money we did for this dinner, it should've been much better.

I would have given 4 stars if the waiter did a better job of advising us of the portion sizes. Beware, they are ridiculously large. Although very fresh the food was a little bland.

Nice place but service was so slow .The place was jammed the appetizers were great a incredible selection. The appetizers were so good if i went back thats what i would order .But a table of 12 with one waiter doesn't work .We were dieing for drinks that never came i wanted water that never came and the waiter was working hard .I will go back with 4 people not 12 it just didnt work .Restaurant is a tuff business good place just dont go there with 12 people u will be disappointed as most likely any restaurant that busy would have a problem .But go .

If you are going to have team/staff building meetings before you open to the public, then say you open at 5:30pm & not 5pm. You had a packed bar, customers waiting & watching the team meeting take place in the dining room. It's not cool.

This restaurant would be so much better If the service was good. For a new customer entering a restaurant you would think that they would provide exceptional service. Food was just okay and very expensive.

Waited 20 minutes at the front before anyone greeted us . The bar is extremely small and under staffed , waited another 20min for a drink, bartenders were under tremendous stress. The wait for food took over 40min and the Calamari was dry and rubbery. Not worth the wait ciao baby restaurant is way better with a much better bar. Definitely Won’t be back . I’d pass on this place .

I have a friend that lives in Bellmore and they recommended Mateo's for lunch so we came with a party of 3 adults one child. We ordered one entrée one appetizer to share but they took too long to make our food, I sat there almost an hour waiting for my entrée. I grew impatient so I asked to host check if the food was ready, he was friendly at first but also displayed shady behavior. When they finally served the entrée the noodles were undercooked and the clams were way too salty. I don't think I'll be visiting another Matteo's, I also received a vibe that they're racist too. if you want to experience genuine Italian cuisine come to my side of town, Lenny's on cross bay blvd is delicious!

Very unhappy with that place. A Birthday celebration was planned for my wife, 2 separate tables. We arrived along with a few people and we were seated, expecting another group at the table next to us. Unbeknownst to us, the staff seated the other people at another table in another section in the restaurant and we thought they were 40 minutes late when they actually were there on time. We specifically gave the staff my wife's name and told our party to mention it. One of the people in our party, didn't get her entree served until we finished eating and my wife ordered a side dish of pasta which never arrived. We were never there before, new to the area, and our neighbors highly recommend that place. We gave it a chance, but never again will we be returning

Terrible Experience, Unbelievable! Was here for Mothers Day with 14 People (family, 87 year old mother, sisters, children) Spent ALOT of Money and Were Treated like we SHOULDNT be there. The food came out very late, and we were told 10 mins into our main course that the check is ready and we need to leave because of the next seating is arriving. I'm Appalled, will NEVER come again, we were literally denied Dessert and Coffees. DISGUSTED with this place, BLOOD BOILING.

Was there last night , the place looks nice But the food was not great or good. Ordered a drink and that was horrible And i was charged 15 dollars for it.. The staff needs waiter training and the manager needs to dress appropriate for the occasssion, manager had his shirt open And sweat marks all over ..... I would not reccommend or be a repeat customer of this place ..... I feel i was ripped off for not good food and a horrible drink.... The only thing that tasted italian and was decent was the cappuccino
