I ordered the chicken and waffles with habanero salsa and it was exquisite. The food came out nice and hot (probably made to order by the sounds of the kitchen?) and was packed with flavor. Well seasoned, cooked beautifully, and not greasy at all. I'm excited to come back and try other offerings on their menu. *Note that it's outdoor seating only

Nice little restaurant in the cut , big food coming across the window! Take your time to find this little gem just off San Pablo in Berkeley. I had a tri-tip sandwich, it was so big I literally needed a cherry picker to get it out of the box. Tri-tip with thinly sliced seasoned with salt and perfect smoke , super tender and bathed in coleslaw . French fries were so amazing everybody at the table just helped themselves. You definitely want to get another order of those if you're with friends. It's rare that you find a homemade fry that's actually good these people do it extremely well. My friend is a fan of waffles and pancakes and was thrilled to see a waffle on the menu that was also fabulous. Mac and cheese was tasty and came in as one of the cheapest items on the menu but didn't lack flavor or size. Can't wait to come back.

This place is a bit hidden, especially at night. But I'm so glad we found it. The food was very good. I got the chicken sandwich. It was soo good, crispy and big! Cheesecake was amazing, small though. We got it with fresh blueberries . So good. It's well lit at night and the heaters were on if you want to sit in the patio area (although they weren't up as high as I would've like because I was still pretty cold). But it's a cute, cozy ducked off spot.

I had the tofu bowl. It was fresh and the flavors were excellent. With tax and tip, it came in just under $20. A little pricey but everything is expensive now with this inflation. I’d definitely go back to have it again if I’m in that part of town.

Very cute small outdoor dining area, quick service. I had the Cali alley burger and it was delicious and a good size without being too tall and messy like many other burger places. The fries were crispy and fluffy! Will definitely come back

Fantastic Burger to be had at this place. It was juicy and the tritip on top was excellent. Fries were crispy and tasty. it deservers it's spot on the best burgers in the Bay lists.

Patio only, pet friendly dining with a walk-up order window. My Cali Alley burger was cooked perfectly and served with crispy fries. My new furry friend from the next table was silently imploring me to share. Maybe next time, Milo!

Our family bought a Christmas Eve lunch from Cali Alley. And wow, it was delicious. Firstly, it seemed that they were taking all the appropriate COVID precautions (which I appreciate). Secondly, the food was all incredible. Everything was packaged neatly. The short rib specifically was my favorite. It was so tender and had a great, bright flavor. We also had the blueberry cheesecake. The crust, oh my! I need the recipe!! Overall, I had a great experience with Cali Alley and hope to buy more soon.

We absolutely love this place! Best hidden gem. You have to try the pork belly bowl, fat cat, ribs, cheesecake and mint limeade.

Great burgers! 🩷❤️I did not get mine with cheese which would have put this over the top but gave me the opportunity to taste/appreciate the burger meat. Great quality meat, bun, lettuce, tomato and aioli. Definitely going back for another burger. Got Mac & Cheese to go so will write up in another review once I eat that. Looks and smells divine. Also got side of black beans cooked in coconut milk to eat later. Cant wait to bring my nephew who loves burgers and his brother who is a mac and cheese and chicken tender officianado! This is a black owned business in Berkeley you must try!🎉🍾😍

Went here for a staff event. Amazing chicken and waffles, and the mac and cheese was really solid. Nice seating area and staff, many of us plan to come back. Only downside is no public bathroom, but they're pretty close to Berkeley Bowl so be aware of that during your visit. I'd definitely recommend the chicken and the mac!

My friend and I ordered the loco moco - which we were pleasantly surprised ! I’m trying to have burgers in different ways and I love this bun less version. The brisket was tender and moist - I ordered cooked medium. The fried chicken was definitely a favorite and the sides ! I loved the green sauce! I haven’t had fried chicken like that since I left the south! I haven’t dined in but I would love to stop by on a nice day. I hear they have a great patio.

I love Cali Alley! I will gladly pay what they are charging for food that is clearly fresh-made by hand. You don't find that kind of love put into food everywhere. The prices are comparable to most restaurants around. The burger patties are thick, juicy, and cooked to specification. The edge of the bun usually has a nice crispy ring surrounding a fluffy bun. I greatly appreciate the effort Cali Alley puts in to get the order right every time. Cali Alley is also amazing about timing their order. The time displayed on food takeout apps for when it will be ready is always accurate. I am curious though--was there a change made to the recipe on the fried chicken breading for the chicken and waffles? Couldn't help but notice it seems different from when I last ordered a few months ago. It used to have small pieces of a leafy herb on it that are no longer there. But it looks like the menu is expanding and has more chicken items available, so if it is a matter of maintaining consistency across dishes, then I understand :) Highly recommend Cali Alley and hope to bring my friends here some day! Will happily continue eating here.

My only gripe was since it is ALL outdoor seating (and no restroom) i had a yellow jacket that would fight me for my food...but i still won ;)

We spent $80 on lunch and they wouldn’t even let my daughter use their bathroom. Forgivable if lunch was good but it was pretty bad :/ burgers and shrimp both super over cooked.
