At Henry's, we're a Berkeley institution serving up classic pub fare with a side of warmth and hospitality. Our menu features an array of snacks, burgers, oysters, and more to satisfy every craving. We take pride in our handcrafted cocktails, beer selection, and wine list, all expertly paired with our favorite brews. In the heart of Durant Avenue, we've created a cozy atmosphere where friends and neighbors gather to share laughs and meals. Our friendly staff knows how to make you feel at home, just like grandma used to make - except for the oysters.

Wife & I stayed here to experience The Graduate line of hotels. Stayed there a couple of days after New Year's day, and it wasn't busy at all. The weather was rainy 🌧, but didn't hinder the overall positive experience. The lobby has a vintage feel, and the plants and decor was nice and cozy. I liked the painting of Marshawn Lynch, next to the elevators. The staff was helpful and friendly. The Henry's restaurant and pub wasn't busy. My guess was that is was raining, and it was just days after the New Year. The bartender was helpful and patient. She made a nice mocktail 🍸 . We ordered the buffalo wings and waffle fries, both of which were tasty and an adequate portion for sharing. They have several TVs 📺 to catch the sporting games. We even went the next morning for breakfast, and had breakfast burrito 🌯 and pancakes 🥞. The portions are large, and the food was enjoyable.

We didn’t have reservations for the night of Sarah McLaughlin’s concert, however we were sat immediately and Maria our server was wonderful! It made our experience to Berkley that much better! Great food!

Firstly, please do not trust my post 100%. All five stars are due to my beautiful memories of the place. I stayed at the Hotel more than a couple of times, I stopped at the bar on each occasion. In this sense, an unforgettable place is still a good place and this is reasonable to give all five stars. I hope you might trust my post with five stars

Really enjoyed the space, the decoration and the service. Drinks are great and we also tried the potato soup, not bad at all. The only thing was that the cheese sandwich had an insane amount of dijon mustard. It was too much even for a mustard lover like me. But overall very happy that we gave it a shot, except for the mustard. Would definitely recommend and I will be going back soon.

The Henry's Burger was pretty good, cooked as requested. Food arrived within 15 minutes. Pleasant service. Reasonable price for a hotel restaurant. This is my third visit to The Graduate Hotel, and probably the 5th time I've eaten here. The food has been remarkably consistent.

A pleasantly quiet restaurant with great atmosphere. Perfect for a first date where you want to be able to hear them talk. I did not have any trouble with the waitstaff like other reviewers have complained about.

Great spot for a group of 10 of us to be able to talk and eat but also have a lively atmosphere. We went here before a show at the Greek theater, the location was perfect to park and walk to the show. The food was really good and we had a fair amount of drinks, came out to about $50pp. I will bring my own wine to open next time as their wine options are not very good. Everything else was great, including service. I highly recommend.

We ordered 4 drinks! The kitchen was closed by 8.30 p.m. so we didn't get to try the food there. Cocktails are so disappointed! Beers are meh....But the service was amazing! We honestly told the bartender, Greg, that we didn't like the drink so we kept trying. I like the service, the atmosphere, the cleanest bar! I thought drinks are really good prices compared with most bars in Berkeley. They served espresso in the morning from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. with pastries. If you are looking for somewhere nice and peaceful in the morning. This is your place.

After the first game of my life that I attended at California Memorial Stadium after walking through the Haas School of Business, I ate for the first time in my life at Henry's on Durant. About 41 years ago, I was an undergrad with very few dates and even fewer opportunities to eat at such a landmark near my alma mater. I let my nephew-in-law with my undergrad degree but he has an An Arbor MBA buy me a smash burger for $18. He had the same with an IPA while I drank water to keep hydrated and to watch my blood pressure. It was glorious with bacon and cheese, but the bun was dry. No service except at the bar. But I was glad to get this off my retirement things to do.

First off, I have a vague understanding of the problems driving customer service in America. Too many people, not enough servers, "nobody wants to work", all of which contribute to crowded restaurants and slow service. That being said, I do not understand why businesses don't adapt to these constraints. It appeared there were two waiters and two bartenders working on a Saturday night. We had dinner at 5:30, then came back for drinks at 9:30. Dinner was fine, we were up against time constraints (comedy show) so I was a little anxious about getting food and drinks in a timely matter. The food was great, the beer selection and drink selection were also above par. The environment has a great retro sexy feel, which is a nice way to spend a Saturday night. I found the service to be a little slow, again, I understand it was busy, but it seems madness to have two servers taking care of a packed restaurant. Yay capitalism. When we came back for drinks, I waited 20 minutes at the bar before we ended up leaving. Not even a "I'll be right with you, a general glance in my direction... 2 1/2 bartenders were working behind the bar, one of them was visibly overwhelmed, and drinks were trickling out of the bar. Again, I get it. It's Saturday night. So why not making an adjustment. Limit how many people can come in the bar... I know, I know...capitalism. Then fine, limit drinks to beer or wine until the crowd gets under control. There are plenty of other options besides losing your bearing as a bartender and not getting drinks out from behind the bar. I have already spent my money and my time in the restaurant, I would like my experience to match what is being advertised on Google and your website.

The menu is very limited. They only have like 10 dishes available. They do not taste very good and are very highly priced for mediocre portions. The “chicken pot pie” is not a chicken pot pie at all. It is just chicken soup and a piece of bread. Scam. The oysters are worth trying.

Mediocre food, bad coffee, and poor service (good luck getting your order within 20 min, and eventually getting it cold).

Henry's finally reopened and I don't like it at all. It used to be pretty down to earth and decent bar food and a reasonable decor that was approachable and nice for students, adults and everyone. They've redone it with fancier white walls, somehow a tighter feeling space, more expensive food and less options. It feels uncomfortably fancy in there, no longer a place to come for a simple beer after work. We came as a larger group looking for some snacks and a beer and it has totally lost its charm. Such a shame that they decided to redo it this way.

Slow service, server knew nothing about the menu, got my order wrong (wrong kind of salad). My roast beef sandwich came with a pitiful amount of what seemed like boiled meat, no au jus, and the bread was incredibly stale mixed with a wet core!

Update: 1/24/2026- yeah umm super lame. Tried again, bad decision. Is there a zero star option? 6/9/2025- yeah even worse now. They have real trouble with consistency here and are very short staffed most of the time with inexperienced people (not surprising in a college town). Change the management to something more sustainable. Update: 3/6/25- after 2 years of monthly visits in 2023-2025, Henry’s continues to be on the decline. Sorry to say but the kitchen sucks. I was a Cal student and have a lot of nostalgic memories of this place, but that’s no excuse. Fire the chef! (Old review) All very standard pub food served by a very Berkeley mix of mid-lifers and students. It's a nice place to meet friends.

Good atmosphere, however food has disappointed, I went in here because I was told that Chris Kronner makes his burgers at this restaurant after the piedmont location shut down. So I went with an expectation and they couldn't live up to that as the burger was tasteless, nothing to do with the one I was looking for, it was built in a half-hearted way, the bun wasnt fresh, patty was dry althpıgh it was kinda pink in the center. The fries that came with thr burger was lame, dry and overfried. I was told by the bartender that they are not offering the same product that they offered atvthe Kronner Burger Piedmont which I found misleading as the graduate hotels website gives you the impression that you should be able to get close to what they offered at the Kronner Burger. I'm not impressed with this restaurant as the burger we were served definitely did not deserve $15 price tag, I might have gotten the same quality burger at McDonalds for 5 bucks. I do hope that they fix this problem with this specific burger. Not going back...

Feels like a once-fancy establishment that has stopped caring. The upside is the space and service feel unpretentious. And my partner’s cocktail was decent. But the huge downside is that the food is not good at all and very-much overpriced. Fish and chips was basically a cheap flavorless fish stick and some frozen waffle fries with fake terrible seasoning. Tartar sauce tasted bad. They didn’t even have the care to serve it with a lemon. Other dishes were also edible but comparable to frozen food. And the pricing would lead you to believe they’re actually going to serve you decent food here. It’s a shame restaurants can get away with this kind of robbery.

Waiter poured water all over the table when overfilling glass, did not clean up the spill, and proceeded to ignore us for 10min. When we tried to order, he walked over but began taking the order of the table next to us. When we tried to get his attention again, he instead began bussing the table directly next to us and stood with his back towards us. I would understand if it was a busy evening, but the restaurant was not at capacity and the waiter was incredibly inattentive and rude.

Came in after the game, got a vodka soda, bartender was rude and unkind. I proceeded to enjoy my time w/ my friends for about 20 minutes when my mostly full drink was spilled by one of my dawgs (all good). I went to get another drink and the bartender said it was suspicious because I returned so quickly. I told her that my full drink was spilled and she said it was “suspect”. Absolute horrible human, god awful bartender. Henry’s is a great atmosphere but the bar tender that helped me (5’3 angry brunette) was awful. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
