The tofu soup in that cast iron, I dream of that, the smoky taste imparted into the silky tofu, the lip tingling chili........ well worth the somewhat pricey food.
My family and I have eaten here three times and have had delicious and enjoyable experiences each and every time. Our favorite dish is the bulgogi. We enjoy the rice served in a hot stone pot, and the complimentary soup that comes with the entrees. I would also recommend the tofu stone pot bibimbop. The service is friendly and attentive.
Favorite Korean food I’ve ever had it’s me and my friends regular go to place to eat and we’re friends with the wait staff
The best, authentic Korean food I've ever had! Prices are not cheap, but the labor to make this food and the taste is worth it! There are many dishes in the menu, and some large enough to that feed more than 2 people and would be good for groups. Appreciated the polite signs asking parents to mind their kids there. I will definitely be back!
Seafood tofu soup was excellent! The seafood version can be hit or miss, usually miss, at most spots because many places skimp on preparing proper seafood broth. I was so happy to taste the full flavor of the sea in the broth. Love that there was a barley rice option. If you choose white rice, you get 누룽지 (scorched rice) too. Highly recommend. Genuinely friendly service.
In our opinion, this is the best Korean restaurant in the Bay Area. Every one I've taken here has loved the food. The BBW spicy pork is super yummy. Also, they bring this rice shell, which is crispy hollow rice that you can break apart and put in their delicious soup. I highly recommend trying this place out.
Wow didn't expect their food to be this good! Definitely a must try if you visit UC Berkeley and craving some Korean food. I think their other main dishes are a lot better . I got the spice chicken bibimbap and it was delicious. It also came with a side of soondooboo. Filling, Delicious, and worth its price!
The waiter was sooo lovely! He led us to our table with a great smile and coached us through the menu. The food was amazing. I got the Korean fried chicken and the spicy chicken Bulgogi, which was hot and really tasty. The scenery is also very pleasant, not too loud and seemed very welcoming. I can’t wait to come again and try the lunch special!!!
Very family friendly. We rolled in with 3 kids and two adults at 5p and they were able to put us in a room area on our own so the kids could go a little wild. Great foresight on their side. Excellent side dishes (even got extra fishcake). The non-spicy food eater in our group loved the mung bean pancakes (even more than the delicious fried chicken). Really happy with our visit and am happy to go as much as I can. The crispy rice is such a nice, delicious touch.
Best Korean food in bay area. From bancai to rice crackers, I don’t think I have ever had those delicious food ever. Apparently a lot of specialty rather than supermarket brought kimchi. Soymilk cold noodles are also really good.
We were simply searching for a quick spot to grab some Korean food, but we ended up discovering an absolute gem! The bibimbap is pure gold—flavorful and incredibly satisfying. The kimchi and side dishes were generous in portion and absolutely delicious. We’ll definitely be coming back! Hands down, the best Korean food I've ever had in California. We devoured every bite!
Great spot for Korean food at this part of Berkeley. This is a friends favorite so we headed here for his visit. All the food we ordered was really good. Definitely coming back for more.
One of the better Korean spots around Berkeley. Really enjoyed the bibimbap which included a side of tofu stew. All the stews are great here. All the sides were good too. Wings were okay but meat not quite as moist/soft as I had expected. Overall a bitttt pricey too.
Drove over an hour to go here because I heard they have biji-jjigae (ground soybean stew), and it was so worth it! It was flavorful and so hearty - a taste I’ve been craving for a while because no Korean restaurant in the Bay Area seems to have it! I was pleasantly surprised to see they even have mung bean pancakes! They were crispy and so good. The restaurant itself is pretty clean and feels spacious. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend!
So glad we stumbled on to this gem near our hotel. All the food was amazing! Great service too.
If you’re craving authentic Korean comfort food, you NEED to stop by Pyeong Chang next time you’re in Berkeley, because this is some of the best korean food I’ve ever had!! Everything is made in-house with the freshest ingredients and the KIMCHI was hands down life changing 🤞🏼 REALLY recommend getting the seafood bibimbap and kimchi cold noodles :’)
Great spot for satisfying your Korean food cravings! Got the stone beef bibimbap which came with extra spicy tofu stew, also split soy garlic wings which were super crispy and flavorful. Their kimchi is also A+!
Excellent tofu soup, and delicious food! Seafood pancake appetizer, barbecue chicken and so much more.

Very juicy and tasty fried chicken. They especially marked the receipt for already collected service fee and wouldn't ask for additional tips. Love that!
I grew up in KTown Los Angeles this spot in Berkeley reminds me how lucky I was to learn about how excellent Korean food is. We love going here. Try it all. I introduced my Wife and kids to Korean food now they Love it too. For decades. Amazing staff too.

The banchan were the highlight of the meal, the stewed potato, seasoned fishcake, and sprouts with seaweed--all delicious and fresh. The mushroom tofu stew was nice, and the galbi tang was good but not my favorite. It was savory, meaty, and salty, but too simple for my taste. The mung bean pancakes were bland, even with dipping sauce. Overall I wished I'd ordered other food--with such good side dishes the bibimbap is probably great. The prices were very high, though to be fair, the most expensive dishes serve multiple people.
Food is really good. Would recommend any of the tofu soups (we had the dumpling soup) and the spicy chicken bibimbap. Service was a bit slow but the people were still nice. Only complaint is the price. It’s pretty expensive compared to other similar establishments.
I really wish i could give 5 star because the food and service deserve this. However, i could not ignore the extremely high prices on the food. Example, bulgogi dish is $42. I know this is Berkeley, but still, two main dishes, chicken wings and one Soju should not cost $178 (including the tip). Otherwise, the food was excellent. Not crazy about the dome of crispy rice, too dry and hard to chew, even after soaking it in the tofu soup
Vegan tofu soup was better than expected! I got it spicy but it wasn't really that spicy. Could have gone for extra spicy. The mung bean pancakes were really good too. They remained crispy and not soggy even after cooling down.
Newly opened in Berkeley. Cozy and delightful interior. About the same quality foods as one in Oakland. Quiet enough to enjoy food👍

They are generous with their appetizers/panchan, a plus We ordered a seafood pancake, but I barely taste any seafood, it's mostly flour. This location is quite empty when we when on a Sunday night. Half of the group arrived earlier, trying to get seated first. Nevertheless, the server was not willing to seat us until the rest of our group arrived, which is frustrating because there are plenty if not more tables in the restaurant! I find the food mediocre although it was recommended by my friend, or maybe because I ordered the wrong item? The server was pushy when it came to payment. We were in the middle of enjoying our food, and he slided in the receipt on our table, saying there's no rush. But what does that mean when you put it on the table right?! Again there's hardly other customers! Which is why I don't understand about the rush. He constantly eyed on us to check whether we put a card on the tray but didn't bother offering us hot water for our Noorengji. Disappointing service, mediocre food. I had better Soon Tofu and this did not impress me.
I was craving some Kong Guk Su since California has been getting record high heat waves... Needed some refreshing cold noodles! Not many Bay Area restaurants serve this specific dish, so I was excited that I stumbled upon this place. Came here with a few friends and there was no wait on a Sunday evening. I ordered the Kong Guk Su and it was just okay. The soybean flavor had a thick paste-like consistency. Not much flavor to it, so adding kimchi into it was a must. Honestly, the broth was just bland and goopy. I was expecting a more silky and smooth texture. They give a good amount of noodles though. Overall, I don't think I would order this again.
I was craving some Korean tofu soup and decided to try this place. I had their combination tofu soup which came with beef, squid, clam and shrimp. It also came with a bowl of rice. The flavor was alright but nothing memorable. All I could remember was that when we were there, a party of around 6 people talking extremely loud which made our dining experience miserable and unpleasant. We ended up eating as quickly as possible so we could get out of here.
Gotta be honest, the experience here was way too salty for my liking. The crispiness and the bite of the dishes were drowned in salt, making it a bit overwhelming. The chicken, in particular, seemed fried a tad too deep, not quite my type. Unfortunately, the taste didn't align with my preferences.

I used to go to this place because it was almost the only Korean restaurant in Berkeley when I first came here. But I don’t go anymore as of 2026. Their food isn’t better than that of the newer Korean places, and it’s more expensive.

I got Uber order for bulgogi and rice 9pm. One rice had heavy cigarette smoke smell, other rice was fine. The cigarette smelling rice was disappointing I won’t be returning here. Price is not worth the taste as we taking about the bulgogi. It’s my first time to receive rice like that it was nasty.. how it even happened..
The most expensive tofu soup I have had. Seafood pancake has minimum seafood (just chopped squid legs, no shrimp or other seafood) and no green onion. Galbi Tang only have 3 small pieces of short rib and I can’t taste any meat flavor in the soup. Chicken wings are good. I’d only recommend chicken wing. Waiters are friendly, too busy to check on you often but do respond to our request quickly. Restaurant is clean and homey.
Prices are close to extortion levels. $42 ($55 at tax + tip) Spicy pork is just ridiculous. It’s at least 2-3x more expensive than similar places in the bay area and LA k-town and 7x more expensive than best places in Korea. Do they deserve such price? I think not. This restaurant is not fancy at all. This restaurant doesn’t have large portions, in fact the bibimbam portions were tiny. This restaurant doesn’t have good service, the server was just throwing our food at the table and running around. This restaurant doesn’t taste better than most places. These restaurants should be boycotted, but sadly and unfortunately Berkeley doesn’t have other options.

It was a horrible experience here!!! We ordered tofu soup, LA galbi, and bibimbap for lunch, but when I got the tofu soup, I saw rice inside the soup. This was quite odd because normally rice is served separately. I asked the employee what was going on, and he said that the chef used the same spoon to cook the bibimbap, so rice got mixed up in my soup. It was very disgusting, but I tried to be polite and asked them to make it again. However, it took almost 20 minutes to get a new soup. Additionally, my husband noticed that some of the employees in the kitchen seemed very uncomfortable with our comment about the soup (I didn't complain; I was just wondering why there was rice inside the soup. I thought maybe they had a different recipe!). This is my first time visiting here, and I was very excited because there were lots of good reviews for this restaurant. However, my experience was horrible, and I am skeptical about their sanitary conditions. Anyway, we did not eat the soup and just left the restaurant. I will not visit here again.
Really bad service. We had to walk to the front desk to order, ask for small dishes, and for a new plate - one of the plates were dirty! When we ordered, the server announced that he did not know the numbers in a rude way, while he could simply ask us to read the dish name. The Oakland store does a much better job at serving.
