Opiniones de Signal Berkeley
Delicious coffee and unique pastries. We got a toasted coconut latte (toasted coconut was a seasonal syrup and it was really good, not overly sweet in the drink which I like), an espresso tonic, and a matcha strawberry mochi pastry. Would highly recommend this place for a quiet cafe vibe and delectable coffee and baked goods. They have a food menu too, but we didn't try it. The matcha strawberry mochi pastry was really good, not too sweet and the flavors mixed very well.
Delicious coffee that I have had now 4 mornings in a row while visiting. This is my second day having the ricotta toast - sensational. And I’m taking the last of their passion fruit scones to go. The chard and Gruyère empanada was a delicious quick lunch yesterday and I’m eyeing the mushroom one for lunch today. The location is so convenient and the staff friendly. Love this place.
Decent coffee at higher-end coffee prices. Decent interior, although I don’t know if I could work here for hours like I can at other coffee shops in Berkeley. They also have boychik bagels!
LOVE this place!! I’ve been wanting to go to the Signal coffee roasters in north Berkeley but it’s out of the way for me so I was so excited to see they opened a location right next to campus. There is a dire need of cafes in Downtown Berkeley especially good ones and this one did not disappoint. I was so excited to try their Ube Latte and was overjoyed to see the really great selection of pastries and food, it went beyond just the standard selection to have really unique donuts, cookies, and savory foods. I got the passion fruit cream donut and it was one of the best donuts I’ve ever had in my life. The ambience was great, and the service was amazing. The guy who helped me was so kind, we had a fun little conversation and I can’t wait to come back—we joked that this cafe opened just for me, and honestly it felt like it! They also had a nice selection of canned drinks including canned coffee.
We decided to come here to try their very interesting ricotta toast and get coffee. What brought us back a second time in our short trip was the breakfast sandwich with signal sauce. What is it? Absolutely no idea but it was delicious! Cute cafe, nice vibe, kind staff. I would come back in a heartbeat next time I'm in the area.
Have been staying in Berkeley and this quickly became my go to!! Amazing coffee, cutest shop and amazing baristas! Today we met Eliza and Indigo and got the chai and iced vanilla latte! If you’re in town you have to check them out!

Absolutely love this place. I usually go to grab a quick bite before work & a shot of espresso but I stopped in to try an ube late. I was not disappointed! So freaking good!
Conveniently located by the BART— this cafe has fast service, kind baristas, and above all, great coffee. I definitely would come back here to study or read a book.
So glad they are now open! Their iced ube latte was fantastic. Can't wait to go back for more!
I go there sometimes before therapy and the service is amazing! The people are so nice and respectable. The atmosphere is really comfy and I think overall is just perfect for a cafe.
I needed a quick cup of coffee for a long drive on Monday and I got it really quickly. I was served by a worker named Henry and he was really nice and speedy. I don't think I was waiting more than three minutes to get my drink, and he made sure to call out loud enough so I could hear it because I was standing a little outside.
Dark roast coffee is outstanding! Drank it every day while visiting Berkeley. The rosemary scone and cinnamon bun also delicious! Will be ordering online.
Good latte. Nice environment. Friendly proprietor. Great to have a new, good coffee house downtown.
I stop here all the time for coffee and a bagel- also to do homework and relax between classes. Easily my favorite shop and perfect distance between the train and campus. Eliza and James will make you feel like royalty at 11am on a Wednesday - its glorious
James and Rose attended me today and they were amazing! Rose did great on the latte and James delivered such great customer service - he also accommodated my drink which I highly appreciated. Went above and beyond.
always excellent oat milk cappuccinos, love their food offerings as well. delicious mochi pastries and egg bites for wheat/gluten-free. but also great bagels, morning pastries, and those wonderful el porteño empanadas. cool music posters and decor.

I am so stoked this place has opened a shop in Downtown Berkeley! Not enough places near campus to get a good cup of coffee and hang out. I had their sesame latte and it was delicious. Their food is scrumptious too. My son and I shared a couple empanadas (mushroom, chard), a matcha strawberry Twinkie, and a passion fruit curd glazed donut. We scarfed it all down it was so damn good. The owner was there, really nice guy, and the barista who served us was also great. Service matters. We will 100% be frequenting this spot again and again.
Signal is a local coffee chain & roaster featuring mainly medium to dark roast beans. Overall solid coffee but on the pricier side compared to many local coffee chains in the Bay. The ube latte was good but the flavor of ube itself does not shine through as I would’ve liked. I’ve been to Signal coffee a few times at the SF Ferry Plaza Famers market so it’s good to visit the shop. This particular location is a bit small and although I see students studying here from campus, it’s not the most spacious for extended stay. Will try the pastries next time!
I stopped in here around 4 pm before going to the Study Hall rooftop across the street since I had 30 min to spare. There were some people sitting/ eating for coffee but no line to order. No one really greeted us when we walked in and took a few min for them to say they would be with us which is fine as it was only two of them making food items & coffee. It wasn't the fastest service, but they were friendly and answered by questions. There is a nice variety of pastries to choose from. I got a chocolate chip cookie, and it was standard, good. I got the GPL, Great Pumpkin Latte which is the seasonal drink. It was made pretty quickly & looked delish. Tasted so creamy with a hint of pumpkin. Wasn't too pumpkiny, but was a solid latte. My friend got the espresso tonic, which I think is an acquired taste. There is some seating at the wall and a little couch nook to sit at to enjoy your drinks. Also some outside seating. I am never in Berkeley, but I would come back when I'm in town. I could see drinks/ food taking a while if it is busy, so l may avoid it at prime time.

I got the milk bread cinnamon roll, warmed up, I enjoyed it! james, eliza, and ahsha were very attentive and made sure I was taken care of.
really cute cafe but I think it’d do better if the space was maintained better—like cleaning the floors and couch…and wish the coffee tasted stronger
Coffee was delicious but for $6 you need to step up your bagel game. It was impossibly chewy from the microwave/heating process. Get a proper toaster.
I usually review places that are either amazing or terrible - this place is neither. I wanted to love it because it’s near campus and they have bagels. Most times I’ve had a bagel here it’s been great! But the last time I went the bagel was weirdly HARD. I asked the barista and he said it might be stale and he made me a new one. Which was also so stale it could barely bite into it - yuck. Not sure why they’re serving that: The coffee is okay. The staff are lovely!

While this place offers its characteristic delicious signal coffee, the interior is very cramped and kind of dirty and the service is abysmal. The barista basically shouted at me when I asked him to make the drink extra hot.

I felt extremely awkward when the cashier looked at me like I was crazy because I had a $20 bill to buy a coffee. I was out for a walk reached to my pocket thought I would try this place for the first time and did not have my card with me. I do my best to to support local businesses. This was disappointing. Sorry, no cash can’t serve you. No sign just a disappointing response from the cashier just a thought operationally the small transactions use cash and I bet you’re turning away up to 30% of your customers if you were only taking cards
I watched the barista handle the shared bathroom key and then prepare my food without changing gloves. I didn’t feel comfortable eating it. I hope the shop can reinforce food safety practices.

I just ordered a dulce latte, I knew it will be sweet but it came out extremely sweet that I made a face on my first sip and the customer next to me asked why. I also ordered an egg and cheese bagel which was even more disappointing, it was so dry I asked if they had any mayo or something to put on it cause it was really dry and the barista said they have hot sauce at the side station. Smh like really ? $17 plus $3 tips just to start my day annoyed and not satisfied with a simple coffee and bagel. My advice is don’t sell $10 breakfast bagels if you don’t even have the right toppings or spreads.
