The salads are fresh. The portones are big, and delicious! The service is super fast. The frescas are not sweeten, and you have an option to add agave. The only thing I complained about was how cold it was inside. I get cold easily. The good thing is, they have outside sitting.

Best salads in Berkeley. I am a regular here and go here almost every other day for lunch. I've had all the salads here including the seasonal ones that they change every few months. All of them are really good. They have all kinds of salads options, be it vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, low calorie, high calorie etc. My favorite regular ones are Hummus Tahina, Harvest Bowl, Guacamole Greens and Shroomami. Their current winter selection is great with Miso Bowl being my favorite. If you don't like what's on the menu, you can always make your own salad. They are cashless and the line at lunch can be huge, going out the door. They also share where their ingredients are sourced from and most of them are local. Love this place and highly recommend it.

I love this place! It's like chipotle but for salads. You walk in and have tons of options and they're all yummy. You can customize a salad or ask for one of the ones from the board. You go down the line and point at what you want and they make it for you then mix it with whatever dressing you like. They also give you a slice of bread with the salad. Off to the side they have some interesting juices like watermelon cilantro. The salads (depending on what you get) can end up pretty pricey, so watch what you're putting in there! All the ingredients I've tried so far have been top notch. Juicy chicken, great falafel that wasn't dry, really yummy assorted dressings. If this was closer to my house I'd be there every day!

While the line was long and many online orders were coming through today at lunchtime, the staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient. Notably, NeNe went above and beyond helping me create my own salad bowl, as this was my first time here. She positively engaged with not only me, but her team members, sparking fulfillment and enthusiasm. 10/10 customer service from her! The food was fresh, of high quality, and I will be coming back many times in the future!

Absolutely the best place to get a big yummy salad! Getting it to go is best as it gets very busy during meal time hours. Lunch is the busiest so getting a table inside is almost impossible. There are only a few tables.

I have been ordering from this sweet green for about two years now, mostly on DoorDash but recently I started going in person. This place is the bomb, it's always fresh, every blue moon I get a watery avocado but mostly every single ingredient is flavorful and delicious! Now that I'm going in to pick up I noticed how nice and welcoming everyone is, They all have great recommendations too so I can keep coming back without getting tired of getting the same taste over and over again. I think I've eaten there 4 or 5 days in a row now because this is one of the very few restaurants where you actually feel better after eating the food. A lot of people tell me that it's over priced but if you ad meat and get the free bread, this usually lasts me two meals throughout the day, but some salads are lighter than others. And if you haven't noticed the entire bay area is overpriced if you want to maintain a healthy nutritious diet. If I knew everyone's names I would shout them out because they all deserve it. Going here to grab a meal is something I look forward to every time.

My favorite salad place! Delicious and fresh ingredients with plenty of gf and vegan options. The spicy cashew is my absolute favorite but you can’t go wrong with any of the dressings. During COVID you must place your order ahead of time and then pick up curbside, no indoor takeout available.

Friendly staff, you can tell they enjoy working there. The only issue, which I believe once resolved will greatly improve the overall experience, is the checkout process. It gets too crowded, and there doesn’t seem to be a clear system in place. All the staff crowd around the register, which creates confusion. Also, the area where utensils are placed should be moved to a different location to reduce traffic in that space.

Nice recommendation from staff. They were clearly busy with take out orders but were pleasantly impressive with their help. I wanted to show them my appreciation with a tip but there seemed to be some confusion with the amount of appreciation I was giving them. The cashier and manager decided to decline my tip and offered the food for free. I baulked and paid with a card instead. And added the tip digitally. I won 😂🤣♥️💯 I get the fact that people think tipping is getting out of hand but look at it from the pov of service providers..they work for fairly low pay and tips are the bonus. As long as this nation continues towards this clear delineation between the elite and everyone else… it becomes imperative to continue to tip folks.

sweetgreen is MY FAVORITE salad spot on the planet! All of their salads are delicious and taste so fresh. Some of my favorites are the kale Caesar, chicken pesto parm, and the hot honey chicken plate, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu! They have a great app that allows quick curbside pickup (the parking lot is small and often full so I recommend picking up). I've you have never been, you NEED to go. They are a chain and have them in a lot of popular cities!

sweetgreen has the best salads anywhere! All the ingredients are fresh and the dressings are creative. My favorite is the Crispy Rice bowl with miso dressing. It's hard to find a salad that fills you up like a meal but somehow sweetgreen makes it work. Loved it so much that we came back twice in one week. This will be my new go to place for salads when I'm in town. Delicious!

Fast service (parallelized serving process), with decent salad/bowl serving sizes. Expensive though (but I guess all salad/healthy places would be expensive anyways). Served with a side of bread and you could ask for extra (shhh please don't abuse this). There are some seats on the inside and around the outside, and a parking lost for customers. Their salads or bowls are very delicious, with a combination of ingredients that for some reason usually turn out to taste pretty good and pretty original. The employees are all nice! They have seasonal menu items as well. You can kind of see into the back kitchen area and watch the culinary staff prepare food too.

I think sweetgreen is doing a tremendous job during the pandemic. Online ordering and drive thru pickup is awesome. My daughter and I ate outside on the sidewalk in the glorious sunshine. My daughter had the Harvest Bowl with kale and wild rice and I had the hot honey chicken with quinoa and kale-cabbage slaw. Both were excellent!

Use to be 5 stars, but seems to have slipped. They use to mix dressing into salad before serving, now trying to do that in the tiny paper bowl that they use to serve the meal in. That's hard to do, so the salad makers put less into the bowl, leaving you with a smaller, inferior meal. Fewer customers with higher profit now; I haope they they course correct.

They were out of romaine and tomatoes. Those are staples in salads. I added avocado, they put maybe half and avocado on top but it was a big chunk. Not sliced or chopped, so next time I will ask if they can slice it. The corn Cesar was almost too spicy. Other than that.. the ingredients were fresh. Portions were great. I would order from here again

I had a great experience at the San Francisco restaurant pre-pandemic so we came by for a healthy lunch. We had to order online via the app. Our order was supposed to be ready at 2:30 but wasn't ready until 2:40. The salad was delicious and amazing.

I like this place because I think it has healthy food. I got a salad with chicken and lots of chopped kale and it was tasty. My favorite is the salad with Mexican ingredients and I'll go back to that next time. Portions are large, but they have free take out containers if you need them. Only downside was the lack of seating and no one to clean off the tables.

A few seats outside on busy Shattuck Ave. Plastic forks and paper napkins, no knives or salt and pepper, much less a cup of water.

Delicious fresh salad on a 100 degree day. What more can you ask for. This is a cashless place so prepare accordingly. Parking can be challenging because it's a busy street.

Sweet green is a great go-to spot for healthy meals. They don't allow in person ordering, must be through their website which also requires log-in and thats a hassle. I accidentally ordered something and it wouldn't allow me to cancel, and i never got my refund so the app is super wonky in that regards.

Used to love this place but lately deliveries becoming an issue. In the latest development, my order today was cancelled 5 minutes before estimated delivery due to “delivery issues.” While a full refund was offered, this does not help me find food with two young kids at home. If Uber Eats isn’t working out, don’t contract with them. Unacceptable.

Food is great especially the sauces, but the service was horrendous they were barely moving even though the place was full of waiting customers.

Salad was OK — ingredients were fresh but very little dressing was provided and the portion was very small for the price. Beyond that however, when I visited there were some flies buzzing around the salad making area, which concerned me. Given that they’ve built their brand around “clean greens,” I really hope that’s the case at this location.

This sweetgreen needs a supply chain professional to help streamline operations. They have people who come in wait for several online orders which feels wrong and it appears disrespectful to the people who are in line. You have to beg for a full serving for your salad. I love the food but the service makes it hard to continue to support this location.

I am not a big fan of this place. First of all you can only only order online there's nowhere to park around there when I arrived even though my food had been ready for 5 minutes I had to stand in line with other people to wait to pick up my food the food itself was pretty good I wish the greens were not just raw I think you get more nutrients in there a little bit more palatable however having said that everything was very tasty I just find the concept of only being able to order online off putting! So my last order was on March 24,2025 . It was 10 minutes late, I ordered spicy broccoli- they're was none, Iit was supposed to come with cabbage slaw- there was none! I ordered the same thing on March 17th or was 14 minutes late and I tried the ridged potato fries- they weren't even crispy and they had no salt!! I sent 2 emails after receiving my orders on said days but got no response from either one! Terrible!!!

This is my first time here and it was good. Fresh ingredients and interesting salad combos. I ordered the Caramelized Garlic Steak with Ripple Fries. The salad was good and the Ripple Fries were under seasoned. I will come back for the salad, but don't add the ripple fries to your order. Not worth it IMHO.

Would be four stars but they discontinued online ordering recently, which is very inconvenient after they were online order only for like 3 years. Why can't both modes of ordering be active? The food is good, but one of the great things about this restaurant was the ability to schedule pickup ahead of time. Now that you can't do that, I'll be eating here much less.

The food is good but due to covid they are not taking orders in person. You have to do it online or through the app. You would think that means they are able to prepare the food more quickly but that's not the case... The estimated time for when my food would be ready was 30 min after I ordered!!! For a salad? kind of ridiculous... 😬

Tried here for the first time and they literally forgot half of the food for one of the plates. We ordered the Pesto plate and there was no eggplant, peppers, or tomatoes. When we opened the dish, all we saw was a scoop of rice, a piece of chicken, and what looked three leaves of salad and some cheese. Will not try again.

Lazy staff and understaffed sweetgreen location in general. Extremely long wait times at this location both in store and through DoorDash/uber eats. Everytime I order from this location there is some sort of issue.

I’m not sure whether I feel worse for myself waiting over an hour after my food was supposed to be ready or the poor people working here who are being flooded by an apparently un-fillable deluge of online orders. It’s a complete disaster. Management should figure out how to make this work… only give 2 stars since when the food finally does come it’s healthy and delicious. I won’t be back for a long time!!!

The food is good but this location seems to have SEVERE problems with logistics and staffing to meet demand, causing orders to take OVER AN HOUR at times. I ordered lunch at noon and the pick-up time was 1:15! The previous time I've gone there was also a huge backup of orders and the place was packed with people waiting to pick up. Unfortunately, this location appears to be struggling to operate and is not a viable option for a quick workday lunch unless you are prepared to pre-order well in advance.

The food I’ve had here in the past was good. But this location now does not let you in the restaurant or even let you place an order. You have to download the app, set up an account and profile, share your email, etc while you stand outside on the sidewalk. I took the trouble to do that and still gave up and walked away because ordering online is difficult. As you are swiping through 100 different salad modifications the app thinks you are adding stuff to your salad, which I wasn’t. I was just swiping. Do not go to this location unless you are a regular customer who has placed an order ahead.

I normally don’t write reviews but I was so frustrated I had to!! I ordered thru DoorDash pick up and headed over when DoorDash said it was ready (after 30 mins) and when I got there, there were SO MANY people waiting for their pick up order. They were either severely understaffed (I saw 4 employees working) or had a very inefficient system. After waiting for another 30-45 mins I finally got my order! I can’t believe I had to wait over an hour for this!! The food was ok, kinda overpriced for what it is.

I ordered food online from sweet green and I got the harvest bowl. They gave it to me without any chicken and barely any rice and without any dressings even though I put three. This was almost 30 dollars of food. Healthy food is just a way for them to scam you because they are giving you no food. Would never order again. Where is my chicken?? #missingprotein also they claim to make these warm bowls (bowl was cold, shivering even)

Despite the fact that the salads are good, I won’t come back again. The service is unacceptably poor. They are slow to make the salads due to incompetent staff hired at this location. They generally are at least 20 minutes late from the estimated time on the app. An unfortunate case of mismanagement.

Usually have a great experience when coming in to grab a delicious bite. Today when coming in, one person in my party ordered their food, I was next but was skipped by a short white older male wearing a hat with glasses and dark hair. He walked around the counter to help the woman behind me. Everyone working was passive aggressive about the encounter when questioned (tall guy wearing makeup) however Roxy I’m assuming from the receipt helped me promptly after realizing what took place. If you’re not willing to serve everyone you should work in an occupation that affords you the luxury to chose who you serve!

Somehow this place still has its dining room closed like it’s June 2020. We voted with our feet and went down the street to somewhere more with the times. If you’re looking to eat salads on the sidewalk in Berkeley, this is your place! Sweetgreen is usually great, we went to the one in Palo Alto for many years, but based on the other reviews here we’ll keep this one on the “skip” list and head to Walnut Creek instead.

They forgot to put certain ingredients in my bowl and when I asked about it, they looked at me as if I was saying something weird. They should put everything in the first place even if we don’t watch out for them and if they forget, they shouldn’t treat customers in this way.

Super annoying that you can only order online and have to download the app which doesn’t work half the time. They need to advertise on google that it is order only not at the counter… Plus the dude at the window was hella rude! I would have just gone to the one downtown Oakland if I knew it was going to be like this. Way better experience! There is also very limited parking. First and last time coming here.

So this company doesn't issue refunds if you pay for something and they don't have it. They didn't have chicken but didn't tell me that when I went to pick up my chicken salad that I ordered. When I went back, they said they're out of chicken, and I said that's OK, I'll take a refund. They said they don't give refunds. I can't fathom a business that doesn't inform you when they're out of what you ordered and just waits until you figure it out, then says no refunds. No wonder their stock is plummeting and their business is failing.

Today something happened when I went to Sweet greens I was totally disgusted I went to the Berkeley location and I noticed that the worker was taken to kill from the box and put it in the sink to rinse it off I don't know if that sink is being used for everything else hands dishes what you look like a regular sink to me from the box to the sink I was disgusted if this is how you guys are rinsing off vegetables and cleaning them I don't want any part of that I will not be going back there again. Because I don't know if that's how you guys are rinsing off your vegetable just in the sink I was totally disgusted

The order process is about the worst I have experienced. Yo have to create an account. You have to save your credit card to your account. No Apple Pay. You will be responsible for all orders on your account, yet you have no way of properly securing your personal information.

Disgusting. Showed up on 2pm on Sunday. No-one in line, yet I had two wait for 5 minutes while the employees audibly argued over who has to go make my salad. Finally they convinced the guy mopping the floor to go make my salad. He starts taking off his gloves to put fresh ones on before touching food, but decides I didn't warrant a fresh set. Proceeds to take those same gloves and scoop up - by hand - the leafs for the salad. He had to scrape real hard because they were basically out - yay for yellow kale! The funniest thing was his perplexed expression when I said I didn't want the salad. The one upside is I have completely lost my appetite for today, so I guess if you're trying to lose weight for summer -- go to sweetgreens.

Bought miso glazed salmon bowl to go. Really bad quality overall. Rice is dry, hard, not fresh, like overnight sit in the fridge and heated up with microwave before serving. Salmon is smaller than a palm. is the economy going down that bad or just people no longer passionate to keep up with good quality of food?

I ordered a warm quinoa salmon bowl and they literally just gave me a pile of arugula with some tortilla chips and charged me $20 for it.

The worst sweetgreen I have ever been to. I have placed multiple orders that take an incredibly long time, but today was unfathomable. I placed a pickup order at 7:15 that said it would be ready at 7:35. It is 8:30 and I am still waiting for my salad. There are not enough workers for the demand, and it shows. I will not be coming back.

I ordered the caramelized steak today, and even though the broccoli was on the ingredients list, I only received 2 extremely small broccolis (see photo below for imaginative marketing vs. reality). I almost forgot that the ingredients actually had broccolis. It feels like they’re cheating their customers by giving such small portions to reduce cost.
