Wow best ramen ive had! Tried the wings and spring rolls I definitely recommend!
We came here 3 years ago and now we are back! Their menu has changed quite a bit and I love the new items on their (new to us 🙃). ➖➖➖ This is what we ordered: ⭐️Yuzu Shio Edamame $8 - loved this appetizer so much! It was my first time eating it with yuzu shio flavor and it made the edamame taste really refreshing! Also love the black pepper and garlic chips on top :) ⭐️Tsukune $18 - This is their pork meatball with shishito. I wasn’t a huge fan of this, it tasted like a meat filling from a dumpling and then fried it. ⭐️Spicy Pork Tacos $11 - This was pretty good! Love the crispy gyoza shell. Went so well with the pork, lime, cucumber, onions and the other toppings it came with. Perfect little bite~ ⭐️Kara Tsuyu $21 - Yummy ramen with their kakuni pork! It comes with a side of spicy dipping sauce which my fiance enjoyed.
Such a unique dish that is a signature at Afuri - yuzu broth ramen. It’s so different than any other ramen, and the yuzu is so good! I also tried the hamachi don today, the fish is fresh, chili garlic was so tasty and added great flavor to the don. Super recommend this place for a fun vibey ramen joint.
This restaurant is great and in a prime location. What I will note is that it's a bit hard to find--it's behind the Erewhon by the Studio side. Their service is great: attentive, quick, kind, and informative. The food is amazing and definitely worth trying. If you go on a Saturday, the Steps are crowded with a live band so there is just a lot of noise and activity, and that noise does bleed in a bit. Perhaps it was the July 4th activities, but it was a bit overwhelming outside of the restaurant so parking was much more difficult to access and find around the restaurant.
I love a good, spicy, satisfying ramen — and this place delivers. I’ve been twice and always order the Yuzu Ratan ($19.50) and Tori Karaage ($13). Both are consistently well-seasoned, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The yuzu adds a refreshing twist to the broth, and honestly, it’s so good I end up drinking the whole bowl. Great hangover cure! The atmosphere is casual with friendly service, an open kitchen, and convenient public parking nearby. Also, their Kyo-Tansan soda water is super fizzy — it lives up to the “extra carbonated” label, even bubbling up through the straw. My friend loved it, and the free refills were a nice bonus!
Afuri ramen! I had yuzu ramen and it was tasty! Also I tried yuzu beer for the first time. It was unique and actually so good! Enjoyed drawing about Afuri on a paper towel while I was waiting for yum ramen! And thank you so much for giving an opportunity for Afuri Art night in August! I really had great night and would like to appreciate in people in Afuri for full support and for coming to my art show!
A good place to hang out and grab a bite would summarize this spot. We got the fried gyoza, yuzu shio ramen, and tonkotsu ramen. They were all decent taste wise. I wouldn’t get the gyoza again but the Yuzu Shio ramen charsu pork was reaaally soft and tender and delicious! The broth was unique and nice too. It was a good amount of food. The presentation of the food was nice, and the ambiance is lively and social. It's a good spot for a big group since they have long tables. The service was also good; they did what they needed to do and were friendly. Overall this is a decent spot but overpriced.
The food here was so good!I stopped in for a quick lunch and I need to come back for more. First, the food came out quickly which was so good for me because I didn't have a lot of time. Everything I had was great but the cheesecake was unforgettable. I will absolutely come back just for that. The service and atmosphere were great as well. You can tell a lot of thought went into everything here. Definitely recommend!
Nothing like a belly full of ramen to start off a Sunday visit to LA. Every dish had this evening was excellent! The Tonkotsu Shiyo, the gyoza, the mini fusion tostadas, just great! Part of me wants to think I just miss LA that much but they’re definitely doing it right here at Afuri 😌 Our server Tom was very kind and attentive too! I would most definitely be back for my ramen fix 🤍
My boyfriend loved Afuri in Japan and he was just as happy with the taste and quality of this US location, particularly the Yuzu Rattan. The sourness of the chicken broth and saltiness was perfect! We came for a Dine LA special which was a clam broth ramen (it’s not pictured or available anymore,) which was okay, but the Yuzu Rattan has yet to disappoint us. We have also ordered the Kare Tsuyu Tsukemen which isn't pictured, but it was really wonderful, and the noodles were bouncy, and the dipping broth was both sesame-y and yuzu-y! The pork belly and in it was sweet and salty which made the soupless entree amazing. The cheesecake the Dine LA special came with was fine; it with candied nuts but we aren't nuts about it. As for the scallop carpaccio, I would die for it just because I love scallops and yuzu. We ordered it twice so far and have loved every time. They also have a beer that can be topped with a slushy foam! It's really refreshing after a long day! The servers are super attentive and great; even if some dishes take longer, they'll check up on you and they are really a great staff from our experiences. Definitely check this place out and leave wobbling out.
Stopped here after a long day of shopping around the city and this was the perfect meal. The atmosphere here is so fun and vibey! They had a DJ there playing funky music (I assume that’s only on weekends). We ordered two bowls of a ramen, warm sake, a beer and a cocktail, as well as their seasonal special which was a chicken appetizer/side that was the most incredible flavor bomb. I want to go back today and get two orders of it! Wow it was good. I ordered the spiced pear cocktail and it was delicious! I wish it had an even stronger pear taste but it was still so yummy! The sake was incredible, always a food additional to a ramen dinner.
I enjoyed everything that I ate and drank. I came in for the day in LA. I think my most favorite part was the k i r i n slushie Beer. It was Soo good. I took to go the k a r a a g e and the crispy pork g y o z a, so I can't speak on those yet, but I'm looking forward to enjoying them. For those who struggle with acid, I'd say avoid purchasing the spicy items, because they use a more acidic oil that is enjoyable if you don't have that issue. They do have other spices on the table to add that flavor enhancer that aren't so acidic oil rich . Edit: as leftovers it was fantastic.
Several of the ramens have a unique yuzu flavor to them in a lighter broth. Making it hearty yet not too heavy. Simple but elegant sushi bowl options. The only drawback is the price. All lunch entrees are essentially $20+ before tip. I don’t think that a lunch Ramen should cost $25, but it is tasty. Expect to pay about $75 for a lunch for 2 people.
On our second visit, I learned more about AFURI. I didn’t realize they were known for yuzu ramen, and trying it for the first time was a surprise — the citrus adds a brightness I’d never had in ramen before. This time, the kiosks were gone, replaced with a physical menu stacked with new offerings. We went for the Yuzu Shoyu Ramen, Buta Gyoza, Crispy Bok Choy, and a Yuzu Limeade. The ramen broth was refreshing, though I prefer a squishier style of noodle. The gyoza had good flavor but lacked that crispy layer. The bok choy sounded fun since I’d never seen it before, but the crunch didn’t add much. The limeade was the perfect cooldown, and I spotted a solid lineup of bar drinks I’d come back for. Overall, AFURI shines for what makes it different: yuzu ramen and refreshing drinks. The sides are hit or miss, but if you want ramen with a twist, this spot is worth it.
I would not recommend and do not plan to return to Afuri. I stumbled upon the restaurant after going to a gallery in the Arts District. There was no wait and it was next to my car. I ordered the yuzu ratan ramen, the cucumber salad, and a draft Kirin. The salad was unmixed, which was aesthetically fine, but made it hard to mix without making a mess. The “sous-vide chicken” was tasteless. It was nice to try a yuz based ramen broth, but the ramen as a whole wasn’t something I would need to eat again. Everything in it was a noticeably different temperature: the broth was perfect, the noodles were uncomfortably hot, and the egg and meat were room temperature. The ramen egg didn’t have the flavor of a usual ramen egg - or anything other than just egg flavor, the noodles didn’t have a great chew, and the meat was bland. None of the usual comforting flavors from eating ramen were present. If you weren’t used to eating by ramen this would probably be fine for you. If you are, I would skip it.
The Spicy Chicken Karaage辣炸鸡 is really good! Yuzu Shoi Ramen is good but a bit too oily 🤪🤪
This place is unique. It's tucked away, parking (especially at night) seemed dangerous, but there were people jogging, walking their dogs, and riding their bikes which made me feel safer. There are a couple of $5 parking lots nearby if that helps. The service was really good, they were very attentive. The set up has booths with tables on the right side of the restaurant, but the majority of the restaurant looks like a cafeteria with long tables and chairs. The food was okay. It's good for large groups.
- Solid ramen, well priced, solid taste. - Seafood Chirashi bowl was lacking for its price. $30 for two pieces of salmon and two pieces of yellowtail pieces and rice and some other insignificant toppings. - Egg Mazemen had an overwhelming spiciness from the wasabi, and I love wasabi. - Needs more servers, service was slow
