We came for dinner on Valentine's Day. It is amazing. It's beautiful, the atmosphere is lite, and the food and drinks are delicious. It's a vegans paradise. It's also upscale which is a real treat for vegans as theses types of restaurants are few and far between. It's on the Marina so you can sit outside and see the boats. Please go and support!

Really great place to eat. We didn’t know it was vegetarian till we were there (oops) but the food was amazing. The ahi poke is the best and their salad style rolls are absolutely great. The Caesar salad w tofu was really light and the tofu was surprisingly tasty. The ambiance is great - perfect for social media content or a romantic date. Would go again!

Always fantastic and consistently top-tier. The food is creative, beautifully prepared, and genuinely satisfying — proof that vegan cuisine isn’t “missing” anything when it’s done right. Service is warm and attentive, and the atmosphere is perfect. Love supporting restaurants that make plant-based dining this delicious and elevated.

I have been to Planta in NYC and so was looking forward to visiting this location. It is definitely a lot more spacious than the NYC location. It is right near the water but at the pier and a little away so you may not have much of a view. The food is pretty good here. We went there a group so had reserved space in advance. We had the Bang Bang Broccoli as an appetizer, which turned out to be quite good. The firecracker was also good. The Japanese Eggplant was not that good and had a small portion, so may want to skip it. I had the sprig mocktail that didn't taste much like anything so I would stay away from that. They can be busy so the service tends to be slow. Note that they will validate your parking.

Review: New Year’s Eve at PLANTA Cocina By J. Marshall Schoonover January 1, 2026 I had an incredible time at PLANTA Cocina last night. Despite "cats and dogs" rain in Marina del Rey, I took my umbrella and made my usual mile-and-a-quarter walk because I love this restaurant. Service: From Disappointment to Hospitality My experience began with an email requesting Booth #11. I stopped in personally hours before my 10:45 PM reservation to confirm. While the Assistant Manager noted it, the General Manager (GM) kindly but firmly informed me he couldn't accommodate a solo diner in a booth for four. Growing up in the 50s, we treated seniors with special priority; it felt as though "table math" was being prioritized over a loyal regular. I kept my reservation, thinking he might reconsider. When I arrived, I was seated in the bar. I spent an hour there and ate most of my meal there, nearly leaving out of disappointment. However, as midnight approached, the GM triggered a wonderful surprise. The team moved my entire service to a prime window seat for the fireworks. The GM checked in often and even took a photo with me. The staff greeted me by name, making me feel like family. This "above and beyond" gesture made the night truly special. The Four-Course Prix Fixe ($68) The food was incredibly delectable and artfully presented, even if portions were a bit small. Sushi Platter: Delectable, but incorrectly named. A Platter is “a large flat dish or plate, typically oval or circular.” This was a "Sushi Sampler" or "Tasting Plate." It was delicious, but precision in naming matters. 1,000 Layer Crispy Potatoes: Visually great and tasted even better. Steak Lettuce Wraps: I appreciated that this was real protein and not "Beyond Meat." The flavor was excellent, but the lettuce leaves were way too small to function as wraps. They should be larger for a better dining experience. Dessert: Both the Chocolate Brownie and Matcha Cheesecake were delectable. The portions were perfect. Final Thoughts Watching the fireworks at 12:01 AM from that window was a highlight. I am so glad I didn’t cancel. While I hope management will remember that a senior’s loyalty is worth more than a table's capacity, I was deeply moved by the GM’s pivot and the staff’s warmth. I want this restaurant to last in Marina del Rey, where many fail. I look forward to my next walk over!

So good. I ordered the spring rolls and loved the sweet and sour sauce they made. I also enjoyed the Poke Bowl. Super fresh ingredients. My hot tea was a bit weak (too much water added) but I could’ve asked for another bag. Waitress was super nice. Hostess seemed effective at her job. Will definitely come back whenever I’m in the area (I’m 60 miles away). Hated paying $27 for parking though lol. I don’t know if they validate (which I didn’t think about until I got to my car and drove away) but it was too much to squeeze into the tiny parking space again and check in about it. I’ll plan to be less than 2 hours next time and maybe the parking will be an average, rather than exorbitant, rate.

Perfect venue for vegans, as it serves only vegan food. Quiet place with pleasant ambience. Service is too good and quick with smiles and of course guiding for the dishes too. Food is too delicious. One can enjoy mocktails to cocktails. We enjoyed firecracker (Sushi), Quesabirria , Udon noodles a lot. Complementary desert was surprised for us ss it was my son’s birthday. It’s enough spacious , so we didn’t feel like crowded. Must visit restaurant.

Delicious plant based food with friendly staff. We had the broccoli appetizer and the summer rolls were very tasty.

We had seen and heard mixed reviews about the food but found everything to be great. We had the summer rolls, 1000 layer potatoes, wafu crunch salad and queso fundido. All delicious. The potatoes looked the most interesting but probably had the most subtle flavour- the sour cream, chives and caviar didn’t come through the potato but still really nice. Dog-friendly patio with nice views over the harbour, too

As a lifelong plant-based eater, I’m always excited to find restaurants that truly understand how to create satisfying vegan cuisine, and Planta Cocina absolutely delivers. My wife and I had a fantastic dinner here and were impressed by the creativity and flavor of every dish. We started with the Chicken Fried Mushrooms, which were well seasoned and had an incredible crispy coating. The mushrooms themselves were exactly what you want in a great appetizer. For mains, we shared the cauliflower wings along with the Al Pastor bowl adding the blackened tofu for protein. The cauliflower wings had tender texture with bold flavors, while the Al Pastor bowl with the blackened tofu was well prepared with a mix of spices that made every bite exciting. Their mocktail offering is also worth highlighting - we sampled the Cosmic Colada which is a must-try if you enjoy tropical flavors, especially pineapple. It was refreshing. The service was excellent and the atmosphere welcoming. It’s clear the kitchen understands how to build layers of flavor and create dishes that are satisfying and healthy for you. For fellow plant-based diners or anyone curious about vegan cuisine, this place showcases what’s possible when creativity meets quality ingredients. Definitely planning our next visit soon.

Planta Cocina is an easy 5/5 experience! From start to finish, everything impressed me. The service was top-notch — servers were warm, attentive, and knew the menu so well that ordering felt effortless. Each dish came out with stunning presentation and, more importantly, delivered on flavor and creativity. Nothing felt ordinary — everything had a unique twist that made the meal memorable. The ambience is phenomenal — cozy, vibrant, and welcoming for all kinds of diners. Bonus points: the place is toddler- and PWD-friendly, and parking was stress-free with convenient paid spaces nearby. If you’re curious about vegan dining that’s delicious, elevated, and far from boring, this spot should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended to fellow Google Local Guides and food lovers alike!

It's a beautiful place 20 mins from LAX airport. **Parking tip : Use the public parking just across the street. It's much cheaper. Vegan restaurant, friendly staff, and tasty cuisine. It's pretty famous in Venice area. Locals recommend it for vegetarians and vegans. Loved mushroom wrap and dragon roll. Matcha colada was refreshing too!

Wow! The food is so good! It’s not easy to find legit good vegan/plant based food but Planta is impressive! I love that they have many gluten free options! You can tell they put thought and effort into the food. The ambiance is nice, it has a cool vibe. And the outdoor seating overlooking the marina is a bonus, the sunset is lovely!

Planta Cocina is a plant-based paradise! Every dish is so creative, vibrant, and full of flavor that you forget you’re eating 100% plant-based. The menu is thoughtful and beautifully presented, with flavors that feel both fresh and indulgent. The space has such a chic yet welcoming vibe, making it perfect for a casual lunch or a special night out. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the food they serve. It’s one of those places where you can bring anyone - vegan or not - and they’ll leave impressed.

My wife, my daughter, and I were meeting mutual friends for lunch. Although I am not vegan, I appreciate going to vegetarian and vegan restaurants. The food was outstanding! The udon noodles, mushrooms, and truffle cream were cooked just right. The portions were big enough that I took a portion of my meal home to enjoy the next day. To save some money, it is better to park in Marina Parking Lot 5 and walk over to the restaurant. The outside patio has a great view, but I felt the inside seating area was roomier.

Exceptional in every way! The food is incredible. I had the crunchy rice sushi and the steak entree. This is vegetarian at its best! Espresso martini is also good! Beautiful atmosphere, great views, and easy parking. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!

We went for an afternoon meal. The location is top notch with a grand entrance and kick arse view of the Marina. The heater was not working that day so it got cold after a while outdoors Monday they have the $9 maki and $29 ayce maki. The torched and pressed was pretty good, it can stand on its own without pretending to be meat ‘sushi’. It is aburi style (torched) with avocado topping and a tinge of truffle on top. The dragon roll was ok, but taste more like the 7-11 California roll you might get. It was not as impressive. The gyoza was quite good, but you need to coat it with enough of the dressing and sauce (chomuchurri) it came with to enjoy it as the gyoza itself might taste s little bland. The ‘chk’ fried mushroom’ one was very very good! I enjoyed it the most. It can stand on it’s own as a dish without pretending to be chicken as it tasted like tempura dish or something. The spring rolls are great. It tasted familiar. Like ones you’ll get in a Vietnamese shop. The croqueta was the one I did not enjoy as much as it was too mushy. I was not a fan of the texture. The happy hour drinks selection were quite good as well. There was a ample parking outside, though the 2 hour limit feels a bit restrictive. — I went back today. I felt the sushi rice were a bit old rice and had a harder texture. On the cockatail front: The Rosarita I liked that. The Lyschee Paloma tasted good too.

Planta Cocina in Marina del Rey is a plant-based revelation that proves vegan dining can be as indulgent as it is innovative. The menu is a veritable playground of flavor, offering a robust lineup of dishes that cater to both the curious omnivore and the committed herbivore. The sushi here—crafted with clever substitutes like ahi watermelon and carrot salmon—is a standout, delivering a silky, oceanic bite that rivals its fishy counterparts. But it’s the Bang Bang Broccoli that steals the show: crisp-tender florets cloaked in a sweet-spicy glaze, a dish so addictive it’s practically earned its own fanbase (and yes, the merch to match). A newer obsession of mine is the Japanese “steak”—a pulled shiitake masterpiece that’s smoky, succulent, and layered with umami depth, paired with rice noodles and a vibrant tangle of pickled veg. It’s a contemporary riff on tradition that feels both bold and comforting, a testament to Planta’s knack for reimagining classics. The servers elevate the experience further—attentive yet unpretentious, they navigate the bustling room with a warmth that feels genuine, not rehearsed. If you’re lucky enough to snag a seat outdoors, the view of the marina unfurls like a serene postcard: sailboats bobbing gently against a shimmering horizon, the kind of tranquil backdrop that turns a meal into a moment. It’s a chic, breezy escape from the grind, where the food sings with flavor and the setting soothes the soul. Planta Cocina isn’t just a meal—it’s a vibe, a deliciously modern take on plant-powered dining that lingers long after the last bite.

This is for sure the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever been too. The servers were perfect and I liked atmosphere. We had the valentines menu, we enjoyed it overall, exepect for the tofu dish, it was raw tofu with some red sauce? Me and my partner couldn’t even continue eating this. The 2 alcoholic drinks we had were terrible. The cheese cake was probably the best I have ever had. Overall it was still a decent experience but overpriced for the quality we had.

The first time I ate here I was really impressed. Vegan food done superbly. The second time however I started getting disappointed with the quality of the food. For their prices I would expect something impressive but it just doesn’t deliver. The restaurant itself is really nice, clean and well decorated. The outdoor patio is dog and baby friendly. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. But the food is just not great. The drinks are not made with fresh ingredients and you can tell. The fruity margaritas are just sickly sweet. And that’s the thing- because of their Asian inspired vegan dishes, everything seems overly sweet. Nicely plated and presented but the flavors are not there and the food is lacking seasoning. Every dish I tried was on the sweet side: from the black garlic tofu to the creamy mushroom noodles and the sticky broccoli.

Jenna M

Overall, I wanted to like it, but I wasn’t impressed. Had nigiri set, which really felt like rice with veggies. The famous truffle udon was good but also was not mind blown. Thousand layer Potato ? Was just ok. May be I had the wrong menus? Open to coming back. I guess it’s decent price for great atmosphere :)

We had been looking forward to eating at Planta for a while because the restaurant is beautiful and the location is prime, right on the Marina! We kept our order light and wanted to sample one appetizer, a sushi and entré. We had the deep fried mushrooms, the firecracker sushi roll and the birria tacos. We're vegan and eat at tons of vegan restaurants so our response to the food is based on our experience at other places. The mushrooms were not good; the batter was unseasoned and the mushrooms were very small. The sushi was decent but can't be compared to Ma'Kin Sushi in Agoura Hills. Not worth getting the sushi at Planta. And lastly the birria tacos were a big disappointment for us. Once again, the birria tacos at Viva Vegan ran circles around Planta's tacos. The best part of the experience is obviously the restaurant itself - the ambiance, location and decor. Unfortunately, the food is underwhelming in comparison to other vegan restaurants even in the area like Variable Café. Nonetheless we will go back and try some of the other dishes just because the restaurant is simply that beautiful.

As the name said, the place served plant-based meals for vegetarians. Beyond that, it offered gorgeous marina and beach views to please the eyes, making the outdoor patio a favorite spot particularly close to sunset. Starting from their Maitake Mushrooms, the elevated version of mushroom served with chimicurri. Pretty simple dish, yet well seasoned making my love grows towards mushroom! Being a fan of cream sauce, the udon noodles served with truffle mushroom sauce stole my attention. The pasta cooked al dente and the creamy flavorful sauce tasted as satisfying as the presentation and the smell. Unlike typical creamy pasta which I commonly got with bacon or pancetta, this came with mushrooms as the substitute but still very palatable. For the main, we got the Japanese steak, their version of beef, whose look and texture were so similar to the real one. Considering it’s an alternative, it’s pretty impeccable how Planta nailed it. Having tried their dishes myself, I now have no doubt why my vegetarian colleagues loved the place so much.

Just a ruined holiday. We came to celebrate February 14th. It turned out the main menu was unavailable and there was only the Valentine’s menu. Everything there is vegetarian — no meat, no seafood, just greens and tofu. At best you can add chicken to a dish, which isn’t even real chicken but some kind of nuggets of very low quality. In the end the food is just disgusting, and ordering normal food is simply impossible. And all of this for $68 per person, drinks and the fake chicken cost extra. The final bill was $180 and now I’m looking for somewhere to actually eat good food. No complaints about the staff — the service is excellent, same as the view. But the food is just awful. Any random cheap place would taste better.
