Came for Valentine’s Day and everything was perfect. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Drinks were out of this world, food was great, and dessert… get the cheesecake. Trust me, just do it.
Speakeasy. Cute, sophisticated and didn't disappoint. A gem as we were passing through town. Young crowd but not the I can't tip young. Great spot to meet up and be entertained simply by the decor. The food looks great and everyone seems to lick the bowl. We just had drinks. It was crafty and fun. A step up from pub scene for sure.
Coziest swankiest atmosphere in town. Good food, good drinks.
Super fun speakeasy! The vibe was excellent, it really felt like a speakeasy, and the decor was absolutely incredible. Prices were a bit high, but the cocktails we got were fantastic. The appetizers we tried were also so good. My burger wasn't the best, it was a little dry, but this is the kind of place you come for the atmosphere and the drinks anyway, so I'm still giving five stars. Service was great as well. Love that all the staff wore great outfits that matched the general style of the speakeasy!
Great location. It was fun discovering the door into the building and the. The door into the speakeasy. Food selection isn't big but the food they have is fantastic. Flavors and presentation are amazing. Great cocktails, ask for the hidden shot menu. Loved my outing. Pretty popular place so make reservations early. My server Chris was fantastic.
We loved everything about our visit to 205 Dry! Was the perfect place to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. We were seated on the patio, which I recommend for older guests as the chairs and table were more traditional style for dining and it was easy for my elderly father-in-law to hear our conversation. Food and atmosphere were great and service was outstanding.
The food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere is the coolest! And who doesn't love menus that light up?!
Very happy with this place. Super unique vibe and very great service. Food was fantastic as well
Loved everything about this place. So cool and delicious food. Make your reservations!
I can't love this place enough. I have been eating here since 2021 and keep going back. The food is too notch, the staff is top notch and the atmosphere is top notch. Anytime I have friends for family in town we make the 40 minute drive its that good.
The service was great with my bartender and some of the other individuals working. My bartender was attentative and quick on the drinks. And can I say best loaded fries? Like the best I've ever had. The ambiance is very unique -1920s speak easy bar. The employees do their best to dress the part. Entrance is through a door handle hidden in a bookshelf. Great little place located in Binghamton. I will definitely be going back in the future when I'm in the area!
The entry door is a very nice reminder of the prohibition era, but this isn't just that, it's a really really good restaurant.
A really cool place where the venue itself was as much fun as the party we went there to enjoy. The staff was helpful, friendly and always had a smile. The food, although pretty typical bar food, was delicious and no one left hungry. Finding parking was a little challenging at first (we're not from Binghamton) but we ended up finding a parking garage right down the street.
Hands down the best fries I think I've ever had. I always get the OG chicken sandwich, it is to die for. There a ton of drink options. The vibe of the place is amazing. Super fun. Amazingly friendly staff. And if you like chocolate cake, you have got to try theirs. It's made by a little old lady who just makes cake for them.
Covid has ruined so many restaurant experiences that we've almost given up going out. This was easily our best dining experience of the year in Binghamton. Our service was impressive and the food is to die for. It made us remember why restaurants are such a vital part of the community. Magical.
I had the best experience at 205 last night. My friend and I had been planning a “girls night” all week. It’s hard for these 2 moms to have a night to ourselves, so when we do it’s very special. My friend had been dreaming about a good martini for days so we agreed to go out for a cocktail and sit together to chat and catch up. Our 1st attempt was Remliks. We walked in, it was packed, and the hostess asked if we were waiting for a dinner table. When we said we just wanted a seat at the bar the response we got was “it’s really busy and there isn’t really room for you”. I felt like we were being told to leave. So we did! Plan B? 205 Dry. And I’m SO glad this is where we ended up. From the second the gentleman who greets guests opened the door for us, it was like the staff rolled out a red carpet. The hostess said there was standing room only at the moment, but she welcomed us in, gave us drink menus and went on a hunt for seats for us. When we did eventually sit down at the bar we had EXCEPTIONAL service. The staff was warm, friendly, attentive and inviting. The atmosphere and staff were TOP TIER. Sometimes moms just need to have a night to sit and gab. Go to 205 Dry- it’s wonderful. Thank you again to the fabulous people who work there. You’re great at your jobs and you made our night. 5 stars. 10/10.
Always an excellent experience. Great food, great service and atmosphere. And very reasonable prices for the quality. Always a place I love to take friends from out of town as well.
Hidden gem with a fantastic selection of spirits (one of my fellow travelers had a flight of multiple Pappy Van Winkle whiskies) and creative cocktails. Unique speakeasy atmosphere with a quiet and laid-back vibe, and our bartender was great! The disguised entrance is a very cool touch - I would never have even noticed it was there if we hadn't been tipped off by a local resident, who shall remain nameless...
What a fantastic restaurant & bar! Love the prohibition, speakeasy theme! So much fun. The decor was on point & all the Staff were dressed in costume which made it so perfect! The staff were all very friendly, attentive & professional. The food was delicious. Loved the ambiance & my yummy drink. I chose the “Ramble” off the “Classic Cocktails” menu. We will definitely be coming back.
Oh la la! So much fun! Food and drinks were exceptional 👌🏻 😋 Wowza, do they go the distance and more when crafting their drinks & food! So many items made in-house, that just elevated that normal dish or drink to something spectacular. You must go if in Binghamton or nearby. Do not miss it, you'll be sorry & your tastebuds will be angry with you.
The atmosphere is incredible. The food is great as are the drinks. The prohibition burger is a classic cheeseburger, the spicy fried pickles are just perfect as are the fried Brussels sprouts. The Pineapple Pisco Sour is great, you don't often see Pisco outside of Peru. I had the braised tenderloin sandwich which was oh so tender
Fun decor and fantastic drinks. Some fun old fashioned mixes too. Kind of a hidden gem and a somewhat hidden entrance to give that speakeasy feel. They stick with the authenticity of the speakeasy times in presentation throughout. But really, you come to most restaurants to eat and everything I've had here is great. The filet is seriously one of the best in Binghamton and fantastically priced on Thursdays. The real surprise to me here is the burgers. They have two styles which are both amazing grinds of beef with the perfect seasoning that you're craving again the next day. The pub burger, which is a large (1/2lb) grilled burger has a couple of options and there's the "Royal with cheese". Although for movie references, it's really more of a "Le big mac". Two 1/4lb smash patties with their own special sauce. They have a great menu, but I ALWAYS fall back to this burger. Probably my favorite burger in the state, maybe anywhere.
Very unique and interesting place! Definitely check it out if you find yourself in the area !
The food very delicious and the price acceptable, I went there with my friends they all love it. I love the decorations of the restaurant. I went here many time but this time i got a picture to share with everyone. Love their pasta a lot, it so so good. Definitely recommend for everyone :)
I liked the speakeasy theme with secret entrance. The food was exceptional. The adult beverage selection was extensive.
Incredible speakeasy with an amazing vibe and delicious food and drinks. The staff is very kind and helpful, the cocktails are fantastic and unique. The interior and decor is amazing and makes you feel like you stepped back in time. Love this place and will keep coming here over and over again!
I really enjoy the aesthetic of this place, very cozy and comfortable. It's a nice place to dress sharply and enjoy a good dinner, The jalapeno smash burger is extremely good. Would recommend. If you plan to come here, call ahead and make a reservation it definitely is necessary. The staff is great and helpful with everything.
205 Dry is an impressively authentic speakeasy style bar. Behind a hidden door in an unsuspecting lobby, you’ll find yourself whisked into a warm and inviting library - with a full bar. Surprisingly sophisticated for Binghamton, we were very impressed with the spread of house made cocktails and dining options. Reservations are recommended, as their hours are limited and it seems to be a favorite location for locals!
I never do this. My first review ever, but I felt I had to post this. Katie was phenomenal, the food out of this world, and dont't even get me started on the house made cheesecake. It should be a criminal offense to serve something this good. Highly recommend.
A great atmosphere for fine dining with a speakeasy feel. Spacious and brighter that the usual decor. The food was awesome and Lisa the mixologist knew what to make for the occasion. Reservations are recommended. However, if you get there early enough, you should be able to sit at the bar. A plus because you get dinner and a show!
The atmosphere is as good as the food. And the food is superb. We were there on Thursday for their filet special. Yes, go on Thursdays! There is a back patio, front sidewalk, or indoors. Indoors was a little chilly in the night we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed the back patio. It isn't large, but if it's available you want to sit there. They have seen shades and plants. I could just send time looking around the restaurant, can it is a treat for the eyes as well!
Loved it. Great service, great food. It's an amazing place to dress fancy and just eat. Loved my drink. Strawberry mule. The door to the bar is just amazing! Love the meat platter. I wish I knew the names of the cheeses but imsure if you ask they will tell you. The secret shot menu is great.
205 Dry was phenomenal in just about every way and we already cannot wait to go back! This review is for a weekend evening between 7 and 9 pm. The restaurant was incredibly busy. TIP: on the weekends it isn't a bad idea to call ahead for a reservation. This was our first visit to 205 Dry. We had heard many great things about this establishment but hadn't gotten around to trying it out until recently. When you arrive you open the outside door to a small room with a "bookcase" on the back wall. That bookcase is actually a door that opens up to the bar/restaurant. This experience is very neat and adds to the ambiance of being an early 1900's speakeasy. We took seats at the bar as it was the only spot available in the restaurant at the time and took some time to enjoy the ambiance of the room. Absolutely stunning! We ordered a few drinks (an old fashioned and a strawberry Moscow mule-esque cocktail) as well as the OG chicken Sandwich and the Prohibition Burger. Drinks took a bit to be made but considering how busy the place was this was perfectly acceptable. The staff were very helpful, attentive, and friendly! The food came out hot, fresh, and within a very reasonable time frame. The OG Chicken Sandwich was phenomenal! The chicken was tender, juicy, and cooked absolutely perfectly. One of, if not the best chicken sandwich in the area. The Burger was cooked perfectly to order at medium temp and was juicy and very well flavored. Overall I am extremely impressed with 205 Dry. This is quite the gem in downtown Binghamton and we will absolutely be back for round 2!
Great experience and a must see when in town. This was probably one of the most fun places we went on this trip. Very unusual how to get into. We had to wait and watch a regular open bookcase to get us in. Was fabulous
Where do I even start with 205 Dry? First of all, the atmosphere is amazing. I love the speakeasy feel, and the place is decorated beautifully. The drink selection is huge; we barely got through the list! I had 2 delicious cocktails; the Oaxacan Breakfast and Rosemary's Baby, and my friends were also pleased with their selections. But the food...oh my goodness, the food was amazing. I can't speak highly enough of this place. The service was excellent too. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could!
Love this great place. Extremely creative, delicious, fun and comfortable. First, find your way in through the book case. Then, take it all in. The decor is perfect for the theme. A prohibition era speak easy with the wonderful drinks to entice your curiosity. Please, do have the pickle fries. I've driven completely across the country on this trip and these are, by far, the best I've had. Be sure to find out the special before deciding on what to have. This menu is perfectly suited to the drinks. I enjoyed our waitress, who was fully versed in the menus, both food and drink. I hope you enjoy as much as we did.
I'm updating my review, I want to give a shout-out to Garrett Axtell. He was our amazing server tonight. He suggested my entree. He was patient, kind, and well organized. He was covering the back room and had multiple large parties. Everybody was asking for photos of him. In my opinion, he made this trip much better than the previous. Garrett, thank you for the suggestions they were Top Notch tonight. 205 Dry has always had a wonderful atmosphere. we went there today with my family. As always, the appetizers we got were amazing. Unfortunately, we finished them before I could take photos. The entrees were superb. They were much better than what I've chosen in the past. have been in the past. They have non-alcoholic beverages and myself and my daughters and I were able to get mocktails that were amazing. This was a memory making night for my daughters and myself. (Original post-beautiful outstanding Speakeasy with wonderful food and great drinks. Easy meet up with friends on a Friday night.)
This place is amazing. The ambiance cannot be beat and it is absolutely beautifully furnished. All of the decor fits the theme and we loved the mismatched furniture. Drinks were delicious as was our food. I had to try the 205 since I heard Binghamton is known for it's Spiedies; it was divine! Will not break the bank. Our server Chris was great! Huge special thanks to Casey for setting up the perfect birthday dinner for my wife- you are wonderful!! I would consider this a must-go to when you are in the area. I apologize for the dark pictures; it was perfectly dim inside.
We have been to 205 Dry several times & love it. We seem to always have Faith as our server & she never disappoints. She is courteous, professional & always reccommends the best menu options & drinks.
There’s so much I could say about 205 Dry. The atmosphere is amazing, the service is impeccable, and the food and drinks are some of the best in town. We love the rotating cocktail menu, and usually stop by at least every couple months to try the new offerings. Some of our favorite foods include the poutine, chicken nachos, Cajun pasta, and the bread pudding on the dessert menu. If you haven’t been there, what are you waiting for?
This place is so cool and the food is great. You walk through a book shelf to access the restaurant.
What a fun place ! Great atmosphere and decor. 2 out of my 3 drinks were excellent. I'm really hard to please. Good food. Pleasant staff. Slightly expensive. But I will return and certainly will enjoy. Their whiskey menu is spectacular!
Their menu is fantastic,i love their their OG chicken sandwich, the cajun pasta, their island jerk chicken tighs, are so yummy but my favorite is the Hot honey salmon with butternut squash risotto. ♡ always a great atmosphere.
Happened to stop by on our way to Adirondacks. Great atmosphere with a speak easy vibe. Our bartender Faith made us a great old fashioned. She is terrific and very very attentive. Food was delicious. Stop in, you won’t be disappointed!!
I don’t care what anybody says, this is the best place in Binghamton hands-down. You really feel like you’re at an old-fashioned speakeasy. From the way you enter the restaurant to the mood to the ambience. It is utterly awesome. The staff here is very friendly and the food is to die for. I had my birthday here and I loved it.
The food is to dieeee for!!! I had the tacos for appetizers and an old fashion. For dinner I ordered the steak with mashed potatoes. I forgot to take a pic of the dinner plate because I was starving and was too busy enjoying the steak. Loved the ambience and intimate setting. You will NOT regret it. I am 100% coming back!
I recently celebrated my birthday at 205 Dry, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! The ambiance was absolutely perfect, the food was delicious, and the customer service exceeded all expectations. I hosted a Bridgerton-themed party, and the venue alongside my brilliant event planner and creative director J. Harris brought the vision to life beautifully. A special shoutout to the event coordinator, Jayden, who went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. He was warm, professional, and made all of my guests feel welcomed. Thanks to him, the entire evening was seamless and stress-free. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special occasion. Highly recommend 205 Dry for any event – they’ll make it one to remember!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This past weekend, on September 14, we hosted a wonderful birthday party at 205 DRY Restaurant & Bar. The event was absolutely phenomenal, and our guests were delighted with the warm, stylish atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Jaiden for his outstanding customer service and incredible attention to detail. He was organized, accommodating, and made sure every request was handled with care. Jaiden truly made the celebration memorable, and our birthday guest of honor couldn’t have been happier. If you’re planning an event at 205 DRY and want someone who’s truly great at their job, we highly recommend requesting Jaiden as your on-site coordinator — you’ll be in excellent hands!
What a place, what an atmosphere! I felt like i was transformed into a different, candlelit world filled with books and jazz music. For some reason, it gave me a New Orleans vibe. I just had an appetizer, saviche it was to die for ! It was a perfect combination of smokey and zesty, and my drink was rosaline.
Always a great experience when I go here which isn't often enough. Went with my husband for his birthday. Definitely make reservations as they suggest. I had the seafood scampi which was amazing and one of their new summer cocktails the sushi which was also really good. My husband got the tenderloin sandwich which I made him get and he loved it. Definitely one of our favorites when we get a chance to go out!
Great date night spot really nice comfortable environment or a nice Casual places to have lunch out with friends The hose and the waiters were phenomenal. The food and drinks are very unique have not seen nothing like that before I thought the menu was very creative. I got exposed to new tasty things and combinations. I did not know it would be good Will be returning
We were in the area looking for a place to eat and we're so glad we found 205 Dry! First, the experience is so unique and so cool. The restaurant is designed to be like an old speakeasy - the entrance is even behind a book case that is the door! Once you get into the restaurant, you'll find a bustling place with a large bar and dining area. We had a few cocktails, a couple of appetizers, and burgers and everything was delicious! The cocktails were all good, and the feature cocktails were very unique. For appetizers, we had the cauliflower and fried Brussels sprouts. Both are very good. The burgers and fries were well prepared and seasoned. For dessert I had an ice cream sandwich made with bourbon ice cream and snickerdoodles and it was excellent! We would absolutely go back!
Moody and energetic all at once, this spot exudes speakeasy vibes with a touch of sophistication. The drinks are creative and edgy, with descriptions that might seem intimidating at first. If you're unsure, just ask the bartenders—they go the extra mile to break down every ingredient, and trust me, the drinks are worth it. The food menu offers a great selection of small plates and features, perfect for sharing. Don’t be misled by reviews suggesting it’s pricey. It’s not cheap, but it’s definitely not Nobu. I highly recommend this place for a date night, special occasion, or just to soak in the unique atmosphere and switch things up.
I love it here but especially on Thursdays when they have their steak special. This review is from my Thursday visit. The drinks are delicious but for me two is plenty. I had their Hang Glider and Freshly fizzed. I also had a sip of the mock-tail, Peach Dream, which was fantastic! All drinks were delicious! We had the béchamel parmesan meatballs starter which was great, along with the toast to soak up the delicious sauce. The steak was tender and cooked nicely, the smashed potatoes were nice in the wine reduction sauce (the sauce I’d dip anything into). I had the soup with my dish, which was chicken gumbo, it was very good. We split the crème brûlée for dessert, which was the right move. The texture is more of a pudding with the crunchy sugar topping. Our waiter was Chris and he was great, very attentive.
This was my second time visiting 205 and it was just as good as the first. We made a reservation Friday night and showed up at our specified time. We were promptly seated and given menus. We of course had some drinks as well as the special of the Filet Mignon with Garlic Potatoes and Brussels Sprouts. The drinks were fabulous with our favorite being the strawberry mule! The food came out in a reasonable time and was amazing. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.
Great customer service, my lady gang of seven didn't have reservations but it ended up being my lucky day getting accomodations (I've been up since 5:30 am traveled from WI to Syracuse). Very happy we didn't have to go to the next bar. The entrance is deceiving but fun. The ambience of the experience was worth it, from details of servers/host/bartender dressed up and great service, yummy variety of food, lit menus, right amount of alcohol in drinks. Loved the extra toilet rolls in the lady's bathroom. This is a place to check out. Recommend making reservations if you want a spot on a busy evening ahead of time.
Ordered an absinthe drink. The water poor method is a fountain over the sugar filling the rest of the cup. I was given a potion bottle with syringe to drip water on the sugar cube. Everything here is esthetic for a prohibition bar except getting an absinthe drink. The fountain poor is on Amazon or antique store for sale.
Man, I really wanted to love this place. We stopped in for drinks for our anniversary. The vibe is great if you’re under 35 and love a bar playing club music loudly. The only thing that said “speakeasy” was just inside the door before the cool bookcase. We expected rat pack music and ambience, like a speakeasy usually is. This place is not that. We didn’t eat there, so, can’t comment on the food but the atmosphere is too loud nightclub, and not enough smooth speakeasy.
My third visit and I want to love it because my friends seem to but it just doesn’t give me the wow factor. The ambiance is dark, noisy and tight. I guess this is what they are striving for but not my preference. Server was attentive and pushed us along to place our choices. Entree red pesto gnocchi was average (salty) and served just lukewarm. A side of crusty bread would’ve been appreciated. Enjoyed the drink selection.
Last night I did not have a good dining experience here. I went out with my wife and a handful of friends for my birthday dinner at around 8:30. She recommended this place as it is a really cool spot, we've heard wonderful things about the food, and she raved about the drinks she had here last year. The drink I had was pretty good, but that was about all I had that was pretty good. Our server very nice and attentive came to take our food order, this is where it started to come down, The ambiance and music while being very cool and "upscale" makes the place very loud and dim. Our server started at my friend who got the fillet special medium(49$) then I TRIED to order the prohibition burger going medium rare (18$) but, there was obviously a break down in communication and he started asking me questions about the sides. I was a bit confused, but I thought nothing of it and that maybe my burger came with and veggie and fries this is my fault here I should have tried to correct the break down, but I was engrossed in conversation as the order was being taken and thought nothing of it. About fifteen minutes later we get a couple of side salads and then in about 30 minutes we get our food, as the runner brings over 2 fillets calling out 1 medium and one medium rare I am hit with the realization of what transpired. I am a chef, I get mistakes happen and it was my birthday so I was just going to roll with it. Birthday fillet? Yes please! I cut into my fillet and the end was very grey and over cooked I cut into the middle and it is a bit over medium and I didn't want to eat an overcooked steak especially for 49$. As the runner is bringing out the rest of the food I had to bring it up. I normally would just let this go as I have been on the wrong end of an overcooked steak before, and I get it, but I had to. He brings the server over I explain the situation He apologized and said my burger would be out shortly he asks if I need anything and I asked him to refill the water carafes. 15 minutes later I got my burger. It was bland and well done and at this point I was so ravenous I just relegated to eating it not wanting to cause any more trouble. As I took my first few bites I thought i was smelling salmon from another table and then 1/3 the way in I realized it was coming from the aftertaste of the burger. I was so disgusted I could not eat anymore. It was the first time I did not take any of my leftovers home. My wife asked me what was wrong and I told her and conversed with the whole table and everyone else's food was great. Then this morning at 2am I woke up in excruciating stomach pain and was sick. I hadn't eaten much yesterday so it had to have been the burger with the weird flavor that made me sick. I was extremely disappointed with the service and quality of food I received. I am really rooting for 205 in the long run but I will not be returning after last night and I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone go here after that.
Hi, first of all, I’m Asian. I came by tonight and didn’t want to wait around for a seat, so I went up to Uncorked Creation Wine Bar — a place I’ve been a loyal customer of for quite some time. As soon as I sat down at the bar at 205 Dry, things went downhill fast. I politely asked the man next to me if he could scoot over a bit, since I had two friends joining me. He made eye contact with me but ignored the request, so I asked again — still politely. But this time, he suddenly threw a chair. Other customers saw it happen, and one of them even got hit by the chair. Naturally, things got heated and we tried to figure out why he reacted like that. But instead of trying to understand what had actually happened, the staff came over and kicked me and my friend out. One of the staff members actually recognized me, so I tried to explain what happened — that this guy had clearly been racist toward me. We weren’t trying to start anything, but he was. We didn’t do anything to cause the situation, yet we were the ones thrown out. Why? Because we were Asian. He even said he wanted to fight me because I was Asian. That’s the only reason I was kicked out the moment I took a seat.
Been here 5 times each time terrible service. Long waits to seat long wait to order when you ask them for menu they give your the nastiest look. You guys are not even busy. I left 50% tip every time to still support them but their service terrible. Tonight I went in hostess tried to ignore me multiple times the she said bar seat available when I went to bar there was no chair and she said she doesn’t know where the chair went and I have stand n eat. If you can’t handle being busy or people not being competent to accommodate them don’t do it. Oh and food is very basic for the price. Please don’t waste time. Go to station 45 or anything g else
We asked for a table for three and got a very rude reply from the hostess. She could have nicely told us they had no seats. She proceeded to tell us that we could stand. We’ve been wanting to go here for a while, but this experience makes us never want to come back.
Been here several times before when I’m in town to my visit my friend and I’m British even had a gift card I had purchased from here to use and I was out right refused service as I had a British license, which weren’t “scannable” and told this was the “law” which is downright incorrect.I even offered up a picture of my passport, I’m almost 30 years old and the bartender was extremely rude and condescending - she had dark hair. Seems pretty illegal to me to refuse service for being foreign? Lost a loyal customer. I will be in touch for a refund for the gift card I purchased.
Have loved this restaurant/bar for a long time and always look forward to any occasion we can go there for. Our experience this time was however very disappointing. We waited an extended period of time to even have our drink order taken, our reservation was made with plenty of time to enjoy the evening but we were asked by the hostess to vacate our table when we had just ordered another round of drinks because they “had another reservation for the table that was there” and we needed to wrap up. The table behind us was also told the same thing- I have never been asked to leave a table when we are still eating or drinking and honestly will make me hesitate to return to this establishment. Very poor service!
