I went to the Ruby Sunshine for a Mother's Day Brunch although the weather was less than desirable but the atmosphere and service inside made up for the weather. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and professional which made for an enjoyable experience. I will return with more friends soon!

Every single time I go to brunch there is a line with at least a 40 minute wait time. This is the first place where I have not found that problem! AKA: the most underrated place for brunch in Homewood. Since it was only me, I say at the bar and had a bloody Maria. The pickled green beans were perfectly tart and it was precisely what I needed to pick me up. Soon I started with the fried green tomatoes- I loved both the presentation and the bacon jam they top them with. Afterwards I ordered the gulf shrimp omelette which came with delicious cheddar grits and a huge biscuit with a to die for crab butter. Not only was the food delectable, but the bartender Michael was an absolute pleasure to speak with! In fact, each of the staff were fun, courteous, and engaging! I will definitely be a regular here from now on!

Place was simply amazing. They have all the breakfast items you could ever want and different versions of each item. Tyler C was our server and the guy was absolutely amazing!! He literally made the experience so much better! Very attentive and very well versed and all around amazing person and fun to be around!! 11/10

I wanted a new place that I could go to while my tires were being replaced. I found this gem in my search and after seeing the menu, I had to try it! To learn a bit of the story that started the business (or at least the name), made me appreciate this spot even more. (See photo) We went on a Saturday late morning (about 10:30). The restaurant was quite full, with lots of people out on the patio. There isn’t much parking available so it can be tricky to get a spot. There is some street parking available as well. I loved the vibe of the restaurant. There is a bar area for those wishing to sit there and enjoy brunch mimosas. I also love the tall booths that provide a more private dining area from the tables in front of and behind you. Our server was Trey. He gave us some helpful information about the menu items and gladly shared his favorite dishes upon asking. He was prompt, polite and professional. He did get a large party outside so my coffee cup sat empty but he came in and apologized for that. Now the food…. My son got the Costa Rican Breakfast and really enjoyed it. He said it would be even better with a starch, perhaps potatoes. I had the Eggs Cochon and let me tell you.. it was a solid 10/10!!!! The flavor in the meat alone was outstanding. Two poached eggs. A biscuit for that comfort element, along with spinach for the healthy element. Then add the incredible creaminess and burst of flavor in the hollandaise sauce… perfection! I savored every bite and left NO CRUMBS! I will absolutely be back to this location. I will just have a hard time getting something different from the dish that was perfect and throughly enjoyed.

We didn’t expect to be impressed by a franchise spot, being spoiled by great food from Michelin-starred restaurants—but wow, what a surprise! This place absolutely delivered with a fantastic menu and amazing flavors. A mix of New Orleans and Mexican-style dishes, clearly crafted by a talented chef. We had shrimp and grits, fried chicken, beignets, and French toast—everything was delicious! The presentation may not have been fine dining level, but the taste more than made up for it. And as a great bonus, the service was genuinely good. Definitely coming back for more!

I had heard a lot about this place and it did not disappoint! The staff was nice, knowledgeable of the menu and made great suggestions. Our waiter went above and beyond, was accommodating to our party and came complete with glitter, cat ears, and a quirky personality to match. Even if the food hadn’t been good the service we received deserved five stars; even the hostess was nice. If you are looking for a nice place for breakfast or brunch this is a great choice and you won’t be disappointed. I will definitely be going back.

Decided to go to Ruby’s right after church. Only waited for 15 minutes and were then seated in the main dining area. Very cute location and ambiance. We got lucky being able to park in the lot. The food was great. Omelettes, biscuits, and grits were excellent! We will be back.

The food is always consistently good here. Great brunch option here in Birmingham. The Spanish omelet and pancakes are always go-tos.

The food was great and our waitress was very attentative. She had a positive attitude and the biggest smile. The parking can be a bit of a challenge due to the high traffic area as well as getting in on busy days- like holidays. We made a reservation for 10:45am on Valentine's Day but wasn't seated until nearly an hour later -hence the 4-star rating. Overall, the restaurant is nice though. P.S. I don't recommend the French toast bites (I believe it's listed as an appetizer). They are always hard every time we've ordered them. 😕

This was our first time here and the food was delicious. Everyone said that there dishes were great. The service was also great we walked in and were quickly seated. I also liked the stone grits and Nola iced coffee. I will definitely return the next time I'm in town.

This was a nice place to have brunch on a Saturday. The environment is very welcoming and the service was great. I'm a huge fan of biscuits and gravy, but thier biscuits and gravy was just subpar. Also, it served just lukewarm which was quite disappointing. Also, the mimosa flight was just okay. Out of the 4 flavors, only two were really good. This is the first brunch place where all the mimosas on the flight weren't good, and its unfortunate because you can switch flavors out. The lavender one tastes like medicine. We also had the green tomatoes, beignets, cheese grits, and bacon sandwich. All those food items were delicious. My cousin raved about the grits and we loved the beignets. I would recommend this restaurant, just not the mimosa flight or biscuits and gravy.

Great food! My hubby ordered the chicken with French toast bites meal and it was reallllllly good. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and it came with bacon and eggs… they were good! The sausage gravy was great! The Bloody Mary mocktail was thick and spicy… we would come back:)

The food was great! The service was very good and attentive too! I ordered the St. Peter's fish. This dish comes with an order of cheese grit cakes that are amazing! Served over a bed if spinach with grilled cherry tomatoes and a skewer of grilled shrimp! My friend built her own omelet and had a pancake on the side. The Ruby mimosa was not that great. The champagne that they used wasn't very good. I wouldn't order the Ruby mimosa again (especially for $10). 4/26/25: Back again. Food awesome! Had a shrimp omelette with cheese grits! Perfect!

I hadn't been here in a while. Today was not up to my expectations or the usual experience. My server Tyler was great. But the food was sub par. The French toast bites were hard like croutons, but they replaced them. The breakfast potatoes smelled, looked, and tasted like they were refried from the day before. This fish and grits was OK, but the grits seems like water was added and stirred into this texture of porridge. My Ruby Coloda was but had clumps of cream of coconut floating which was not appealing to someone trying it for the first time. I probably won't be back.
