A good insight into what elevated British cuisine using local ingredients can be. Our waiter was friendly and got the vibe straight away which was appreciated. Joking and banter through the evening which we enjoyed. The standouts were the trout and the soufflé. We dined just before new years so it was quiet with only us + 3 other parties, but cannot fault the restaurant for what they offer.

Excellent restaurant - we had a fantastic experience. We went for the Prestige Menu with a wine flight. They catered for one of us being gluten free too. Exceptional service, incredible food and spacious, bright interior. I can’t decide which dish was my favourite. The wine pairings were perfect too.

Beautiful meal and fabulous service. We'd booked for the six course taster menu and it didn't disappoint...every course was delicious - although the trout and beetroot courses were our favourites. Service and atmosphere complemented the food. All in all a wonderful evening.

Without a doubt the finest restaurant in birmingham i love simpsons so much. We have always loved Simpsons and Luke tipping and his brigade of fabulous chefs and front of house always deliver the most incredible dishes. Today i had red mullet with bouillabaisse, then quail that was divine, followed by beef sirloin 10/10 and finished with Poached pear that was just delicious. I love this restaurant and they are up for sale. When Andrea's antona finally shuts the door and if Luke decides to retire as well it will be such a sad day, i genuinely believe the pair of them have done more for the Birmingham food scene than any others. I hope that Simpsons is there for a long time and that i can still keep going and that luke continues to serve up his amazing food for years to come but i would say if you haven't been before go while you still can and you will not regret it. I'm so grateful to have enjoyed so many great lunches and dinners at Simpsons.

My partner took me to Simpsons for our anniversary, and it was a wonderful experience. When we mentioned our special occasion, we were greeted with a letter signed by the staff, which was a thoughtful touch I will remember. The layout of the restaurant is distinctive, and seeing the chefs at work in the kitchen, even briefly, made me appreciate the care and skill behind each dish. Although I am originally from Quebec, where my favourite restaurant is located, I must say the food at Simpsons is beautiful, delicate and exciting it’s without a doubt my new favourite 3 course meal. Thank you to the chefs and staff for such a memorable experience. I will definitely be returning.

Wow wow WOW!!!! I wanted to watch an episode of The Simpson but flipping heck this was WAY better than an episode of the Simpsons The food was exquisite, the chat was delectable, and the staff were yummy (they also knew all the food on the menu off by heart! Isn’t that amazing!) Three cheers for the staff, like this post if the brummy staff are legendZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The Simpsons Restaurant is a delightful dining spot with a charming venue and great location. Having visited a few times, I can say this place offers a first class experience. The atmosphere is both elegant and welcoming, making it perfect for any occasion. The attention to detail is evident everywhere, from the clean facilities to the polished utensils. The food is outstanding, showcasing the best of British cuisine with high quality ingredients. While the prices are on the higher side, the exceptional food and overall experience make it worth it. The desserts are exquisite, offering a perfect blend of flavors and textures that make each bite a perfect end to the meal. The staff are attentive and professional, adding to the restaurant's perfection. Even the restrooms are immaculate, reflecting their high standards. In short, The Simpsons Restaurant is a place where great food and excellent service come together. It's a spot I would happily visit daily, knowing each meal would be fantastic. A very Rare 5 star rating from me.

This was a wonderful indulgent treat, gifted by a good friend. We had a 3 course lunch, where the plates were small, but there were so many little extra courses we certainly did not leave hungry. For me the many tasters was wonderful as I can get bored of one large plate that loses its individual tastes. The service was immaculate, I even had a footstool for my handbag!

Simpson’s is a true gem and fully deserving of its Michelin star. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, with Lucas ensuring every detail of our evening was flawless. His attentiveness and warm demeanor made us feel truly cared for. The dishes were stunning, both in presentation and flavor, showcasing the chef’s exceptional creativity and use of seasonal ingredients. Thomas, the wine sommelier, elevated the experience even further with his perfect pairings and insightful recommendations. His passion for wine shone through, making each selection feel personal and memorable. The ambiance was elegant yet inviting, creating the perfect setting for a special night out. Simpson’s is an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves fine dining and extraordinary service!

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing a tasting menu at Simpsons with my family. Created by Luke Tipping, the menu was outstanding—every course was thoroughly enjoyable, with perfectly balanced taste, texture, and aroma. The service was exceptional from start to finish, with the front-of-house team being both welcoming and attentive. I’ll definitely be back again 💯

Faultless. Visited for my wife's 40th birthday, and was welcomed with a "Happy Birthday", a card from the team and left with a small box of chocolates, really helping to make it feel special. The food was amazing and as it was a Thursday lunchtime it was quiet, so felt like we had the place to ourselves. Highly recommend, and my thanks to the team.

Located just outside Solihull, this beautiful restaurant is almost a 'blink and you miss it' type place. Parking area can only accommodate about 7 or so cars but there is a pay and display across the street. There is a surprising garden area when you go into the restaurant and some of the flowers are used within the dishes. The service is as you'd expect from a Michelin Star restaurant, being very attentive and meticulous. The food was exceptional, with some truly memorable dishes (especially the Beetroot dish and the Passion fruit Souffle). There was some clever usage of cutlery in the souffle dish, as the texture of the spoon gave texture to the dessert. Well worth a visit if want to treat yourself.

I recently celebrated my 30th birthday with Simpsons, as a surprise from my friends. Wow. The welcome, the service, the drinks, the food all fantastic and an experience I’d recommend to anyone. Everyone who looked after us was brilliant. Thank you for making the day so special for me/us. The birthday card signed by the team was a lovely, unexpected touch too. Ps if you can, go for a wine pairing. The sommelier was great, and the choices to complement each course were superb.

Superb food and wonderful service, this is a great restaurant for a special treat. It’s very expensive, but it’s worth it. My wife and I are both pescatarian and my wife is also allergic to beetroot, and I have this commented on my Open Table account, but Simpsons take that and go the extra mile presenting a bespoke menu for my wife. That’s very considerate and shows great care and attention to service. We had a tasting menu which took about two-and-a-half hours to eat, and it’s incredible how quickly the time went.

Wow, is simply what needs to be said about Simpsons. A real showstopper in Birmingham. My partner and I went for our anniversary meal and the welcome, and the service were enough to know that we'd booked the right place. Gorgeous building, beautifully decorated (very understated from the front). Now the food.... a three course meal of extravagant standard. Rich flavours, beautifully presented and left feeling more than satisfied. Thanks to all at Simpsons for making our first visit to you a memorable one!!

This is a favourite of our parents who live close by, and they finally brought us for a special birthday. And what a treat. The service is faultless, and the food fantastic and absolutely beautiful. One of our group is a celiac and the care and attention they gave in catering for her was amazing. Will definitely visit again.

Celebrating an anniversary. The kitchen is headed up by Luke Tipping. With a very talented young brigade. Options for dining are a 3 course lunch. A classic 5 course or the Prestige tasting menu, which we chose. To begin the meal, three delightful canapes, followed by fresh homemade sourdough and black olive rolls. Served with mushroom butter and a roe dip. First course was a tasty bowl of mushroom set custard. Followed by a very pretty salmon & lobster ravioli. Next, was a little surprise extra dish of scallop with fermented carrots and black pudding. The fish course was Sea Bass with spinach cooked in goats cheese.Although it was nice,we're not sure if this combination works. A very healthy, refreshing beetroot dish was next. The meat course of Highland venison was succulent and tender. Pre-dessert was a burnt cream served in an egg shell. For the finale,an outrageous Tiramisu Souffle. With a chocolate sauce & amaretto cream. It was a very enjoyable lunch with excellent service and a pleasure to meet two young, very talented chefs, Evan & Jordan.

It was my partner birthday meal and we have the a la carte menu only. The food was really amazing and cook with attention to details! All dishes are perfect is flavour. (Apart from the dessert is a bit normal) The service was also very professional. I particularly like the infused some Japanese elements which definitely bring the food into another league. I had a pork loin for my main, it is one of the best pork loin that I have ever tried. Overall a really good experience and good value for money too! Will come back for the tasting menu

The plant based (vegan) tasting menu was incredible. We had the 8 courses and each dish was beautifully presented and exquisite. We saw the meat and fish tasting menu and 3 of the 8 dishes were exactly the same as the plant based which just confirmed that the plant based food was central to the restaurants food, not an afterthought. If you are looking for a vegan fine dining experience this is a must go to.

Wonderful place to celebrate our Ruby Anniversary! All the staff made us feel so special, their friendliness and all the little extras. They are a lovely group of young people with enthusiasm and a real warmth and passion for what they do. The food was exquisite as usual and the setting just glorious. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Went for their lockdown al fresco pop up. The food was amazing and the service was incredible as well. The garden is stunning and I loved their informal yet very special set up. We had a three course meal and every dish was great. I especially enjoyed the fillet steak main. It deserves its Michelin star

After two weeks of leftovers and beige dinners this was a great way to round off the Christmas festivities and start the New Year. Great evening @simpsons_restaurant Birmingham and thank you to front of house Freddy (due to be a dad any day now), waiter Lucas (good luck with the accountancy training) and Sommelier Thomas (good luck in the new role) for their friendly yet professional service. From the moment we arrived, the snacks, Prestige Menu with wine Pairings was faultless. A rare treat and great experience. Thank you for a wonderful evening. We will be back. If you're looking for something that's extra special, Simpsons restaurant is where you need to go. We celebrated my wife's 30th and mother-in-law's 60th. The food out of this world and the staff were so attentive, kind and funny. It made the whole experience worth 10 times as much. We had the seven coast tasting menu and wine course to compliment. Each course was unique and so well put together. We were all genuinely excited to see what was coming next. A truly wonderful experience and I couldn't recommend it enough.

Memorable first visit for a birthday treat and won't be the last. Very impressed with the atmosphere and attention to detail by all the staff. One minor hiccup was an anniversary card that was on our table when we weren't celebrating such an occasion. We laughed it off and nothing more came out of that. Starters we had the Loch Duart Salmon and Norfolk Quail. Mains we had the Stone Bass and Herefordshire Beef Fillet. Lastly for dessert we had the Mirabelle Plum and Banana Souffle. My cocktail for the evening was the Cuban Mojito and it was thoroughly delicious that I had to re-order! It was an experience I will not be quick to forget. Compliments all round from the chef and his team, the waiting staff and front of house. Thank you for making my birthday evening simply charming!

Had my first experience today at Simpsons. Enjoyed the tasting meal. The service was impeccable. The advice and guidance provided by the knowledge staff made a real difference. The whole event took exactly 2 hours. We enjoyed 3 suprise amuse-bouche courses. I asked how often they changed the tasting menu and they said the entire selection every couple of months but more frequently they change individual items.

Michelin Starred Restaurant. We visited as a party of 17 and all ate from the sampler menu 6 courses and a starter. Upon arrival we were kindly greeted at the door and taken to our table, guided through some wonderfully decorated rooms with relaxing piano music being played from a sonus speaker system, we were sat in the main dining room with a view of the gardens on one side and a glazed open kitchen to the other. The head chef Leo then came out and introduced himself to our group, he was very friendly and personable. For fear of waffling on, we were served 6 exquisite courses with fine wine and excellent attentive service, we were never rushed and treated like royalty.

This my 3rd visit to Simpson's I just love this place. All staff are so attentive and helpful in terms of food and wine pairing. The food is to die for the team really know who to extract every once of flavour. On this visit we had the privilege of the final 4 chef's of Masterchef the professionals. However Dean didn't turn up! It was a fantastic experience.

Absolutely divine! Wonderful food that was presented beautifully. With each dish you could taste all the elements. The scallops were amazing, best I've ever had Turbot was light and delicate. A Christmas treat but will go back again.

A high price, for high quality. It’s fascinating how exquisite British cuisine and local ingredients can be. That’s what captivated me the most. Overall perfection is present in every aspect of the restaurant, from the staff, toilets, utensils, etc. A place where I would gladly eat on a daily basis.

Simpsons restaurant is a very upmarket restaurant situated in the heart of Birmingham. On arrival we parked right outside in the private car park out front (Small car park) which was great. If the restaurant is busy it could be difficult to find a space which would be the only downside. When we entered the restaurant, the staff immediately took our coats and placed them securely in a private area. We were then seated in a private room until the rest of the guests arrived and until our table was available. Pre booking before attending is required. Service was fantastic from start to finish and the variety of drinks to choose from was amazing. Food came out perfectly cooked and presented beautifully. The waiters where very observant and always available to top up your drinks, and asked if everything was ok. Great service. Probably one of the best I have had the opportunity to experience. Food arrival was spaced out adequately so you could enjoy conversations and time with your friends/guests , and you didn’t feel rushed at any point. Expect high prices, but you do get what you pay for. Left feeling satisfied and not bloated. Perfect sized portions. Overall great experience. Staff were really polite and courteous. Would definitely visit Simpsons restaurant again! Thank you Simpsons! See you again soon! 🙏

Excellent food, having visited a few times in the past year I can certainly say that Simpson’s is by far my favourite and one of the best restaurants in Birmingham. The tasting menu is definitely recommended, and worth every bit. The wine list has a great selection from different price ranges and great quality. My favourite dish on this occasion was the apple dessert, which was a wonderful hit of apple and a great finish to an exceptional meal.

Just enjoyed my 1st visit at lunch time "Taster Menu" with a couple of good mates and we all enjoyed the everything. The welcome greeting was warm, with a calm/ sophisticated atmosphere. Had a drink, before being shown to our table overlooking the garden area to the rear. We choose the menu to give us a variety of tastes to experience. The service given was very attentive, but not intrusive. Professional attention to detail, with the food tried , exciting both our taste buds and conversation. Would recommend during the week, as not too busy.

Great food and staff are fantastic, every dish is well explained so well and vegetarian options are fantastic, I would say they could do with having some music for ambience.

Took my wife to Simpsons for our anniversary dinner. Turned out to be a special culinary experience. The restaurant has a nice garden, comfortable lounges, a gorgeous private dining room, but the main dining hall was a bit simple and somewhat disappointing. You can see the kitchen through glass panels but its not an open kitchen. We selected the tasting menu (gbp 130) but skipped the wine pairing ( gbp 90) because I wanted a special wine to celebrate our anniversary. The wine list has good breadth, covering wines from all corners of the world, a decent selection of wines by the glass but it lacked depth especially in Burgundy. I selected the Piper Heidseck Rare 2008, which impressively, was offered by the glass (gbp35) to start. It lived up to its reputation, full of vibrancy and complexity. However, I struggled to find a wine to match the occasion and menu, so I called for help from the resident sommelier. He walked me through options, probing my preferences and knowledge of wines and to my surprise revealed he had wines to offer that were not on the list! He rattled off some names but I was not moved, then he mentioned Coche Dury! My eyes lit up - this was imho the best white Burgundy maker. The sommelier offered us three possibilities from Coche Dury, the Meursault, Bourgogne and Aligote. He explained that they were only allocated 3 bottles of the Meursault per year by the winemaker, and since this wine is so difficult to buy, let alone find it in a restaurant, I went for it. The Coche Dury Meursault did not disappoint. It was fireworks on the palate and kept improving in the glass, and it was a wonderful accompaniment to the brilliant food.

A very big thank you to all the staff for the most amazing lunch the food was excellent and we were made to feel very special look forward to coming back again in the new year. We would like to take this opportunity to wish all the staff a very happy new year.

We had the prestige menu and had an absolutely unforgettable evening. Every course was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The beetroot dish in particular was the highlight of the menu — creative, balanced, and unlike anything we’ve had before. The raspberry soufflé that ended the meal was another standout. It was light, airy, and full of fresh raspberry flavor. On the day it was just a touch on the sweet side (likely because the berries were in peak season), and a bit more acidity could have helped balance it, but that’s a very small note on what was otherwise an outstanding dessert. The service deserves special mention. The staff were warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. They struck the perfect balance of attentiveness without being intrusive, and their passion for the food and wine really added to the experience. From start to finish, everything felt seamless. It was one of those rare evenings where every detail came together — food, service, and atmosphere — to create something truly memorable. A perfect night out, and one we’ll be talking about for a long time. Absolutely recommended if you’re looking for a refined yet comfortable Michelin-starred experience.

Cannot be faulted. My son and i had a wonderful lunch. Very relaxing and totally spoiled. Staff very attentive and the food was stunning. Everything was amazing, but my favourite was the Red Mullet, with leeks and a smoked eel foam, and the Passionfruit soufle was hard to beat. Thankyou Andreas, Luke and team for making it so special.

The set menu was excellent and well thought out. Every course was full of flavor and tasty. Ordered an pour over coffee at the end, but the staffs seem to be a bit clumsy that spilled coffee all over the serving tray. The waiter did not bother to make a new one at first. When we let the manager know about this situation, he promptly took the coffee off the bill.

Eureka Cookery Class We came here for the Saturday cookery class. 9am - Tea and coffee together before we started, a quick tour of the restaurant and kitchen then upstairs to watch the chef dispatch the biggest lobster ever seen then watch him cook it. We cut off a chicken legs and wings and removed the wish bone then watched the chef cook it and prepare the jus. We rolled out pasta made by the chef to make lobster ravioli using the prepared lobster mix in a piping bag given from the chef. We watched berries and apple be prepared and then used a piping bag of frangipane to fill out pre-made tarts. The recipe guide will come in useful at home as a reminder of specifics such as the temperature to keep chicken extremely juicy. 1pm and we were enjoying champagne, beef tartare, cheese tart and fish bite together before our meal. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and the three wines were delicious as was our meal of lobster ravioli, chicken and apple puree and frangipani tart with cream. It was lovely to spend 6 hrs with 5 strangers talking about everything and anything. Pros: 1 Michelin star restaurant with delicious food and amazing knowledge. Definitely a unique experience. Cons: you spend a long time watching the chef doing the prep and cooking and not much hands on (understandable with the time constraints).

We had the plant based tasting menu. Overall it was nice. The presentation of the food and service was flawless. However, for a couple of the courses the flavours felt a bit tame and underwhelming. There are so many options available when it comes to plant based ingredients, but if you limit yourself to solely using homegrown U.K. veg, then it can be quite difficult to surface truly inspiring flavours. The pre-dinner snacks and bread were really nice. Plus I really enjoyed the raspberry cheesecake dessert. It’s inspiring to see restaurants like Simpsons spearheading plant based cuisine at the Michelin star level. We will be back to try it again for sure.

Went here last night for our daughters birthday dinner. There was some variation on the tasting menu from the last time my wife and I had eaten here earlier during the year, but once again, eating here was a lovely experience. All the staff were exceptional, and as always, it's the staff who make the evening special. From the front of the house greeting to the sommelier, the waitresses who served us, and Freddy behind the bar all made our evening special. Being introduced to the kitchen staff was also a highlight. All three of us would whole heartedly recommend eating here.

I might be fussy / perfectionist but for me the white tablecloths or at least some tablecloths not necessarily white should be on the tables! As I was informed by the Steve Locklin the General Manager of this restaurant this is an environment friendly approach of the International Director of The Michelin Guide 'Protocol' I am not blaming anymore the Staff but for me this is still poor rather cheap representation of a posh restaurant! To me the entire explanation of the International Director is rather polishing up the cost-saving move of the entire Michelin Standard. IF I spend a decent amount of money on a posh meal for a special occasion, I still prefer the white table-cloth being used! I understand the green approach regarding the environment issue however we are not talking about a mass consumer base like e.g. McDonald's... I am just wondering, will be the next move of the International Director of The Michelin Guide to use paper plates, wooden spoons, etc.???

The restaurant is a lovely place to experience, the staff were welcoming and attentive when we arrived. But sadly our memory of Simsons will always be marred by the tiny starter and main course portion sizes. I’m sure they work as part of a 7 / 10 course tasting menu, but they need to understand that if they’re sending out these plates as part of a three course lunch service for £85 per head you’re going to have some pretty disgruntled customers. Please remember to tweak the menu for three courses. We also noticed a drop off in service towards the end of the meal, which was a real shame. I’ve included a picture of the Beef Sirloin main course so others can judge whether they believe this is a fair size…

This restaurant has lovely venue and well presented food, but I don’t feel the service or the environment is up to the Michelin starred standard. The service was really slow but quite chaotic. The staff were not well trained although they were polite. There was only one person who was wine knowledgeable which was fine. The rest of staff didn’t have sufficient knowledge of the food, they just came and name the ingredients and left straight away. More importantly they were not attentive and one staff collected my friend’s plant before she even finished her food. We had to ask him to stop. The environment, it was just way too loud. There was a particular loud table, that the table next to them had to leave because of them. It would be fine if this was just a normal restaurant, but for fine dining, especially if this is Michelin starred, the whole combination just seemed very poor. Food was great, although not so creative. Took a video shot and thought it’s gonna be some kind of molecular gastronomy experience but nothing special. It could be that we just happened to bump into a busy night but I personally feel that service and environment are particularly important for this level of dining. I liked the food but I don’t feel I want to go back.

My girlfriend and I came here for a birthday meal. We were both quite impressed by the building and the decor. The staff were polite and friendly. We both opted for the taster menu, I chose the plant based one along with the wine pairing. The food was ok, colourful, and flavoursome, but there was nothing to get exited about. I really can't see how you can charge £130 pounds for the plant based menu. It really doesn't show. Two of the dishes were a rissoto, and I felt that most of the dishes tasted the same. My favourite part of the menu was the wine tasting. Which at £95, I thought was quite reasonable.

I’m sadly posting a very dissatisfied review for Simpsons after a much-anticipated Valentine’s dinner last night. All restaurants up the offering (and the price) on Valentines Day, Mothers Day etc but this was something else! Apart from one awful course comprising thick, tough cubes of cured trout and one exceptional heritage beetroot course the rest was nice enough and competently executed. However, in no way was this a £170 (plus 12.5% service charge) menu. Knock the 1 off the start and it might have been forgivable; just. The waiting staff seemed to be on Saturday jobs straight out of their first year at the college of food. One bashfully approached us with a card in hand, in the mistaken belief that we were celebrating a birthday and made a hasty retreat when we informed him that we were there because it was February 14th. The rest were not knowledgable about what they were serving. A second glass of white wine was delivered after the final course that would logically be accompanied by a white was finished. There was no acknowledgement of this being a Valentines event. The only person who seemed genuinely engaged with working in a Michelin starred restaurant (and knew a lot about / was interested in other restaurants) was the person charged with handing-back our coats as we left, We feel thoroughly mugged by paying a bill of almost £480 (we each had a cocktail on arrival and 3 glasses of wine between us) for what was a truly mediocre dining experience. Without a doubt the worst Michelin starred restaurant we have even eaten at (we wonder if it can retain its star). Suffice it to say we will not be back!
