Loved the interior of this restaurant. Led through a small bar area and across a small bridge to a large, warm lit eatting area. An amazing space that really sets the mood. Service was a little slow for the number of people dining and also looked to have a staff change over half way through. The food selection is varied and the food was great quality and fairly reasonably priced for what you receive. The garlic bread was straight from the pizza oven and a hit at the table. Would definitely return if we are in the area again. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
Absolutely brilliant! I organised a meal for my work colleagues here and could not fault anything. We ate from the Christmas menu, priced at £35 for 2 courses or £40 for 3. This alone is outstanding value compared to many restaurants in Birmingham. Each course was freshly prepared, excellent quality, and the portions were enormous! Drinks are also reasonably priced. The building itself blends historic with modern architecture, giving a relaxed atmosphere. Service was excellent from start to finish. Thanks everyone.
Came here because it was recommended by the staff of the hotel I'm staying at. The food is tasty and the portions are very good for the price. The servers are attentive and helpful. I only had breakfast but I will for sure be coming back to try the pizza, sunday roast or one of those delicious looking cocktails.
What a great place to pass a couple of hours away, found through TripAdvisor and really pleased that we decided to book, a good walk from the city centre but well worth it. Bar/dining area is large, warm and nicely decorated, service was friendly and attentive. Great selection of draught beers and good wine list. Food menu is very comprehensive, we tried 5 different tapas/ small plates and everything was excellent. Would highly recommend.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Rolling Mill, and I can't help but rave about my experience, largely thanks to our wonderful waitress, Kelly. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel incredibly welcome and was attentive throughout our meal. Her customer service is always perfect she knows the menu inside out and provides great recommendations. Kelly's friendly demeanor and genuine care for her customers set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. It’s clear that she takes pride in her work and truly values her guests. If you’re visiting The Rolling Mill, make sure to ask for Kelly; you won’t be disappointed!
1st time visiting this place, looked like a small restaurant when you first walk in and then the further you go in it just gets bigger and bigger. Staff were all very polite and accommodating and the food we ordered was very satisfying and huge portions. Will definitely recommend and visit again when in the UK
I left a detailed review on Trip advisor. Just wanna give a big shout out to Kelly. A massive credit to the team. Looked after a party of 17 at last minutes notice and did it with a smile. She even sung happy birthday when bringing a cake out. I appreciate good service and would return just for her. Food was ok. Pricey for what it is but I guess you are paying for the atmosphere and vibes too. Food was hot and served on time and cocktails were good. Would return.
Great meal for 2 in a very warm and Christmassy setting with great sound and atmosphere. The drink selection were good with special seasonal drinks available which tasted nice. We did want a Sunday roast but we went in the evening after 6 and sadly they had run out. We chose to eat from the normal menu and both really enjoyed what we had. The starters, mains and desserts were amazing and the portion sizes where just right. I would highly recommend this restaurant it’s truly a great place with a fantastic vibe.
This place is like the Dr. Who`s Tardis, small from the outside and very big inside. Had a Sunday Lunch with some friends and wow best Sunday Roast I have had so far. The beef is tender and full of juice and not dry at all. The Chicken is also tender and full of juice. The place is very nice and friendly. Also it is a good place to have a beer or 2 and watch the sports on the TV.
What a gem. My group had actually booked elsewhere for the evening but when we got there, the other place was closed! Luckily, a short walk away, we came across The Rolling Mill. Loved the interior, the staff were lovely and the food was delicious. It was my friends birthday and our waitress (blonde with pink girlie) went above and beyond any expectations! Highly recommend.
I've been quite a few times. It never disappoints. I love the consistency. Food on point. Wide choice on the menu. Great choice of drinks/cocktails. The staff are friendly and helpful and attentive, in particular the server called Kelly, who has waited on us a few times. I cannot fault her at all. In She listens and she also, makes recommendations. I'll definitely be back. Nice vibes too. It's also a very comfortable place to sit and relax. Lovely for families too. We have had our family Christmas meal there too which everyone enjoyed. (We had to book in advance), which was not problem. I have also had a breakfast, which was generous and tasty. It's also affordable. Keep on "rolling". I'll be back!
Awesome place! It’s a very nice place that I have visited many times, both for food and for relaxation, as it’s ideal for unwinding. I ordered the steak again, which I had tried in the past and found undercooked and not particularly tasty. This time, however, the cooking and presentation were clearly improved, and it was much more enjoyable. It seems the restaurant takes customer feedback seriously and strives to improve. I will definitely visit again.
Delicious food, everyone was very complimentary about their menu choices. Lovely restaurant and attentive staff. Quite the TARDIS as it's huge once you go through the back. Lots of steps so might be an issue with those with mobility issues but the front part of the restaurant is pretty flat and accessible. It's a great place to meet up with friends and they can also easily cater for large groups, we were a party of 10 and we just rocked up for late lunch without booking.
Honestly had such a good experience at The Rolling Mill tonight. The vibe of the place is sooo beautiful, warm lights, nice music, and the décor is just perfect. Food was amazing. The chicken with rice was full of flavour, the burger was juicy, and all the drinks were really fresh and tasty. The staff were super friendly as well, and everything came really fast. Overall, I loved it and definitely going back again ❤️🔥
Wonderful pub just 5 mins walk from the metro stop at Jewellery Quarter. Gorgeous decor with a warm and friendly vibe. Food was excellent and we tried the butter chicken fries, margarita pizza, chicken lollipops and the pork belly bites, no complaints only compliments from all our party. Would we recommend and go there again?? Simple answer “Absolutely YES!” 😋 We visited on a Wednesday afternoon with no booking required but I think it would be best to book a table on weekends to avoid disappointment.
A lovely find in the Jewellery Quarter! Our first here and loved the atmosphere and service (special thanks to Kelly for looking after us, and the Manager for helping us with my dad's wheelchair access). Food was fab - it's not often you find a place that can make a proper, original Veggie burger. Amazing! Decent portion sizes of food too.
We looked for somewhere to have lunch today whilst in the jewellery quarter and the reviews were good. Service was excellent from everyone we encountered especially Kelly, our server. I was a little emotional when I arrived and she was a sweetheart going above and beyond one her approach to me. Good menu and good gluten free choices. I had the pork belly (small plate) which was so delicious and no fat with fries and my husband had the Schnitzel Bagel with fries. Excellent quality, taste and service. We had a cranberry juice and a beer and the bill came to around £46. Toilets very clean and service excellent. The interior is also beautiful. Will definitely be back.
Awesome food. Approx 5 minutes walk from Jewellery Quarter train station. It was recommended to us by the repair guy in A&A jewellery repair. So glad we listened to his advice. We went Thursday lunch around 1pm it was pretty quite. It was slightly disconcerting at first as the sports bar was empty but then we could see people further in so we ventured forth. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress called Kelly and seated quickly. We were left alone with just the right amount of time to order. We chose Coke Zero and a Cherry Pop Mocktail, it was delicious. To eat we shared a meat feast pizza, Cajun fries and triple cooked chips topped with shredded roast chicken and gravy. Everything was piping hot and absolutely delicious. All served in a good amount of time. The pizza was fresh out of the pizza oven next to where we sat smelled and tasted amazing. The Cajun seasoning was the perfect heat and flavour for me. (Would have been too spicy for my mom who would struggle with anything but salt and vinegar). The star was the triple cooked chips topped with chicken and gravy. I could eat it for days. Chips were beautifully soft and the chicken tasted perfect. We spent just under £50 which included a service charge, if that kind of thing bothers you, personally as long as it doesn't take the piss I don't care. Means I don't need to stress about appropriate tips. Would 100% recommend, cannot wait to return. TLDR: great tasting food, a tad expensive for tight wads, but worth every penny to me
We celebrated our joint birthdays here and had a fabulous time. The place looks bigger than it does on the outside. We all had Sunday roasts, which were delicious. The beef was tender, flavoursome and cooked very well. The vegetarian feta pie was full flavour. All came was generous portions of trimmings. The service was friendly and prompt and we enjoyed the cheery atmosphere. We would definitely be back again.
Went here on a Saturday for a late lunch with no booking. There wasn't space but the staff were really helpful and accommodating. Love the vibe and atmosphere of the venue though it was super hot. Especially in the toilets. The lamb burger was delicious. The loaded fries were slightly disappointing because they weren't actually loaded. Overall nice fun place to dine thought it was slightly overpriced for the food. Loved the choices of sauces available at the side.
Came here with a friend on Friday for food and drinks. Our first time here. Firstly, the venue is lovely! Very modern, clean and a great atmosphere. Service was amazing. Didn't have to wait for anything. Staff were very attentive but not over the top. We had the lamb burger and the chicken burger, both with fries and we both said how lovely the food was. Hot, fresh, tasty and a great portion size. Overall, a great experience. We will be back and will recommend to others.
A MUST visit spot in Birmingham. With a great variety of foods, drinks, private room hires and interactive darts. Great portion sizes, amazing staff and lovely atmosphere. I’ve visited here a few times and never had a bad experience. The spicy chicken wings have been the same thing I’ve always ordered, I just love a chicken wing starter and it’s always consistently good 🤩 the chop was such a generous portion I absolutely loved the vegetables that it came with, so yummy!! Excellent dining experience at The Rolling Mill yesterday. The food was delicious and our waitress was very attentive and checked on our table multiple times throughout our meal. I’d definitely recommend the fish and chips! Their pork belly bites and BBQ pulled chicken pizza was also delicious and gluten free!
About Last Night ✨🍕🎄 PR/INVITED Big thank you to @therollingmill for inviting us to come try some of the menu much appreciated Here is a little breakdown of the evening: This hidden gem is located in the jewellery quarter of Birmingham don’t be deceived the venue is much bigger than it may appear at first glance 💯 Vibe: lots of Christmas and larger bookings were coming in, upbeat music with great service from all members of staff especially our server ( Kelley ) We ordered -The good Italian pizza if you love cheese you will definitely enjoy this…. Superrrr Cheesy. -Rosemary truffle fries very nice side for the pizza as we decided to share plates. Unfortunately the mac and cheese was sold out but maybe next time. -Biscoff Cheesecake X2 unreal dessert this was for sure our favorite dish we tried great portion size as well 🫶🏾 Drinks: -The zinfandel rose light and fruity what more could you ask for. -Apple spice Spiced rum cocktail this was recommended by our server 10/10 from the Christmas menu -Espresso Martini ( classic ) But one of the nicest ones I have ever tried. The venue offers a Christmas menu, the a la carte has some different options before 6pm And outside December the venue also offers a bottomless brunch. Overall a fantastic experience if you are in the area. You can also play darts near the entrance and in other seasons. This place will definitely not disappoint in terms of decorations service and attention to detail.
Came here to have a nice late lunch with my partner. Very beautifully laid out establishment with plenty of space for eating and a separate section for bar based drinks. Had the 2-4-1 burger deal abd it was absolutely delicious! Great quality and price. Varied menu with pizza offers on the Monday and burgers on a Tuesday. Kelly our server was fantastic and made the experience all the better. Will absolutely reccomend coming here!
An epic bottomless brunch. The Rolling Mill offer a bottomless brunch on fridays and saturdays. £44.95 for 2 courses and a really nice variety of drinks. The portions are huge and the food was beautiful, definitley one of the better bottomess brunches food and drink wise. Im pretty sure the brunch lasts 2 hours Cockatils are made to orders so hger quality than most BBs. The BB is actually on an evening on a friday, great for after work events.
Amazing building, decor and atmosphere. Staff lovely and service wonderful. Food a little pricier than we'd normally pay but starters and burgers really nice and the fries really well cooked. Would definitely go again and try different things.
This is a stunning venue, the décor well thought out, modern with a rustic feel. Staff are attentive and the food is of fine dining quality. I would also recommend stopping at the bar before you leave for some unique cocktails. Overall, The Rolling Mill is a diamond of venue and well worth a visit if you find yourself near Birmingham's Jewelry quarter or have a special occasion to celebrate. ------------------------------------ On return to Rolling Mill, I was equally impressed, the standard of food is just as good, if not better. This time I opted for the shin of beef which was melt in the mouth and piping hot. with a rich decedent gravy and fluffy mashed potatoes. This place is an absolute treat and worth every penny.
I really enjoyed my experience at The Rolling Mill, the venue is very nice and clean. Staff were very attentive and polite. English Breakfast and French Toast was 10/10! Staff communicated between themselves about my Tree nut allergy and ensured my food was safe. Highly recommend a visit to the The Rolling Mill, I will be back for breakfast!
Really nice spacious bar with lovely staff. We came here for drinks after lunch and had a few cocktails as it was their 241 offer. We had the Jack Frost and the Oo La La from their seasonal menu which were really nice.
Such a great vibe and the decoration sets such a great scene. The menu has something for everyone. We really enjoyed our meal. We were served by Charlotte who was really lovely - she made it such a great night by making sure our table were all happy and had everything we needed. I will definitely be recommending The Rolling Mill and will be coming back for Sunday roast!
Is this the entrance way? I was underwhelmed as I walked through the dark hall way. When I opened the door… wow. I felt like a child in a sweet shop. The Rolling Mill is a huge place. The sky lights lets the light pour in to illuminate the open plan interior flooded with tables, big and small. I couldn’t help stare at the brick pizza oven in the corner. The large retro advertisements recommending its amazing pizza and burgers distracted my attention. I looked into the distance to see an accommodating bar area. There was even an upstairs terrace to accommodate peoplewatchers. The Rolling Mill has a touch of class. There are swathes of leather on the seating. The bar accommodates not only Corona, but a British brews such as Camden Pale Ale. I was here for one thing only. When The Rolling Mill first presented its menu online The Croissant Bread and Butter Pudding spoke to me. I thought, what would such a dessert be like. Light, flaky croissant bread mixed with a swathe of melting butter, covered in custard? Unfortunately, it was just another bread and butter pudding. Nice, but not what I expected. Service was perfect. Attentive, relaxed and expedient. The Rolling Mill is another splendid venue serving British food in comfortable surroundings. I would definitely recommend it as a lunch or dinner venue to spend some relaxation time with your colleagues, friends or family.
Really impressed with the customer service, the staff were incredibly accommodating and patient when I needed to make changes and add extras to my order. They were also very thoughtful in supporting members of our party with disabilities, making sure everyone felt comfortable and well cared for. Special shout-out to our server Connie, who provided truly exceptional service throughout. The food was fantastic and the overall experience was excellent. I was a bit disappointed that some items were sold out when we ordered, but honestly, it just shows how popular the place is! Next time I’ll make sure to get there earlier!
Had a fantastic Sunday roast with my family, staff were really friendly and food was delicious. Portions were huge and fantastic value. Very child friendly with high chairs and baby change available. Highly recommend.
Had full english breakfast. Everything was perfect. My friend had the vegetarian breakfast- he was also very complimentary. Good cappuccino and decent size. Tried the pancakes also which weren't that great but nevertheless great experience and will be back to try lunch / dinner menus! Big shout out to Kelly for looking after us. She was fantastic!
Sat in the sports bar area. Service was provided from the other room. My food was very good, a tasty Korean burger with Cajun chips. Others had Thai chicken and said the rice was soggy and not great. A quiet night, I can imagine that the place would have a very different vibe when busy.
We dropped by here for dinner and got a table without a booking on a Friday evening. The place looks great and it's a lot bigger than it seems from the outside. They have a decent selection of food and all the food we had was tasty. They have a decent selection of drinks as well, though the Margarita failed to impress so we stuck to beers. The prices are quite high and they also add a 10% charge - a ridiculous money-grabbing practice that needs to stop, so -1 star for that.
Food tasted good, Korean chicken had very good flavour but dry in the middle. Poached egg came overdone however the issue was sorted by staff providing a new egg. Amazing appetisers including the pork belly bites and bao buns. The garlic bread ‘side’ was more of a full size pizza. Overall good food with good portions. Our server Abigail was amazing.
Very nice restaurant. We first thought that the food would just be a little expensive but it turned out to just be very massive portions. The food was tasty, except for the salad we ordered which was way too spicy which wasn’t specified in the menu. All in all the staff were very competent and the atmosphere was amazing.
We really enjoyed our meal at The Rolling Mill! We loved the starters - highly recommend the Pork Belly Bites and the Short Beef Rib Bao Buns 😍 Onto the mains - the steak was cooked a perfect medium rare as requested and had a gorgeous garlic marinade. The vinaigrette on the salad had a punch to it that I really liked - and I don’t usually like salad 😅 The loaded fries as an add-on were delicious and very filling. We enjoyed the onion rings that came with this too. We were really looking forward to the Chicken tikka pizza, but unfortunately we were left a bit disappointed with this. The dough was chewy with no crisp to it, and we couldn’t taste much of the tikka sauce, mostly chilli. We had the Biscoff cheesecake for dessert and this was stunning! We loved it. We really enjoyed our cocktails too, particularly the Cookie Espresso Martini!
Stunning venue in JQ with an assuming front but a grand beautiful inside! As soon as you walk in you’re met with a dark bar but as you go through to the back there’s a bright and airy well designed industrial style restaurant. Food was great but quite expensive although very taste and large portions, well seasoned and a fairly good menu to choose from. We went for a Sunday toast but also look out for the deals they do during the week. Definitely more of a venue where you plan to visit in advance rather than just show up due to how busy it gets and the price. Spent a similar amount as a fine dining restaurant in the area. Would be great for big groups however. Service was friendly and attentive although we had three different servers in the short space of time we were there. Looking forward to my next visit, it’s just the price is more for an occasion rather than a casual visit
Bit of a mixed review on this one. There's a really nice vibe to this place. Chilled. And the venue is really nice. Furniture and décor is on point. The barman was a little moody but efficient. And now the food... The serving staff were super friendly and helpful, keen to offer suggestions. And this is where things went downhill. Once we ordered, we waited for nearly AN HOUR to get our food. The place was not even that busy, given it was relatively early on - on a Tuesday evening. We had to chase our food a couple of times before it finally arrived. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Nasi Goreng and my friend went for the Homemade Chicken, Pancetta, Mushroom & Leek Pie. My chicken was pleasant, however it was served with a fried egg which had the consistency of "I've been waiting around for a while", which corresponds to the delay in our food order. My friends wasn't great. Once the lid was off, the filling was super runny and greasy. My others friends had fish n chips and steak sandwiches and they were on point. Overall a nice visit, but had to drop a couple of stars for the long wait and quality of the food.
Been to the Rolling Mill a few times now and it’s always great fun and the food never disappoints. On this passion we went for bottomless brunch. Again, the food was excellent, but they did this weird thing where they wouldn’t replenish or replace our drinks until everyone in the group had finished their current drink. I possibly get the logistics of taking one group drinks order at a time, but it meant those with smaller drinks were left waiting for those with points to finish up. It just felt like an awkward and unnecessary thing to do and I’ve not experienced that before. Usually drinks are replaced as and when. It didn’t ruin our time there though.
The place looks quite plain from the outside but inside is big and pretty. There was so much staff and yet no one was at the entrance even tho you have to wait to be seated, you have to beg for getting the bill and even more for them to come with the machine. Quite disappointing. The food was good and drinks too. Solid choice but not my favourite
If I'd have paid for my meal, I would have been disappointed - If you like steak, don't order the steak. I had a slice of pizza that was pretty good, though. Staff were polite and attentive and the surroundings were nice but the whole experience felt very corporate, as If it were designed exclusively for companies to come for social functions. It was especially weird that I couldn't just go up the bar and grab a drink.
Dropped in for a bit of brunch and left within half an hour. We were presented with breakfast menus and told we had 5 mins to order before cut off but we hadn't looked at what we wanted so just ordered coffee. Coffees took a while so missed the deadline so asked if we could have the lunch menu to which our waitress replied that lunch started at 12 which we presumed so kitchen can prep after breakfast. So we said thats fine but could we have the lunch menu. My partners hot chocolate was tepid not really warm or enjoyable, we tried to catch the waitresses eye many times to ask for a hotter one and for the menus but she was too busy on the phone and contuined to walk past without checking on us multiple times. We got really fed up at this point and decided to leave. When we paid we werent asked why we were leaving when the waitress knew we wanted food, nor asked if everything was okay. Such as shame as it looks like such a lovely place.
It started off poorly when we were seated in the bar area but right next to the doorway to the restaurant so people knocked into me a few times as essentially my seat had to be in the way. Next some of the staff were quite blunt and not very attentive. We immediately felt disregarded as someone came over not long after we'd sat down to tell us there was a private booking later in the evening so they would need us out by 7pm. Then 5mins later someone else came over to tell us the same thing which really made us feel like we weren't a priority and we were being rushed. They then cam and mentioned it AGAIN later on in the evening. It also took ages for service, cocktails had to be made at a different bar which is fine however it took them ages to bring the drink over which left one of our group with no drinks while the rest of us had ours. Once food was ordered 2 of the 4 arrived in normal time but then it took at least another 10mins before the other 2 arrived which meant as a party we weren't eating together. 3 out of the 4 dishes were fine however my lamb burger was chewy and overcooked, if I'm honest I thought it was beef for a while because I've never seen or tasted lamb like that. It then took the staff ages to clear our plates to the point we had to ask a member of staff to do so as they'd been sat there in a pile for ages. After all this we were extremely disappointed with our experience but unfortunately the joy of forcing people to get up and order at the bar (negating the need for service in the first place) is they had already scammed us into paying a hidden service charge (we later found in small print on the menu) which they absolutely did no deserve. I would steer well clear of this place despite it's appealing interior and menu and will never be returning.
