Have visited this restaurant a few times and every time is an enjoyable experience. The staff are super friendly, attentive and polite. And the food is incredible no matter what you order, but my fave is their chicken tikka masala, it is delicious. Thank you Rubys :)
Went there and I love the atmosphere and the food. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Love the modern decor too.
Top top food! Great quality ingredients Good service Lovely place
Great, not your typical Indian restaurant food
Simply amazing food I eat here every week and love it. The place is immaculately presented with stylish and high end furnishings, the service is great and the cocktails are delicious too. Get involved!
Welcoming atmosphere and staff always try their very best and happy to customise the dish according to your taste.
Been here a few times now and they never disappoint. Absolutely love the poppadoms and naans, and I thoroughly enjoyed the butter chicken this time. Best Indian in bishops stortford!
Was here 2yrs ago and back again. The food is amazing, the staff are brilliant. This is probably one of the best Indian restaurant I've been to. Will definitely be back.
We ordered a takeaway from here. I have coeliac disease and when I rang up to enquire about gluten free I was advised most of the menu was gluten free! Really enjoyed it, all good quality, will definitely return.
I always use Rubys for their delivery service and when this restaurant opened I decided to give it a go. I normally visit Cafe Masala as my favourite one, Venue 97 closed some time ago. I’ve been to every Indian Restaurant in Stortford over the last ten years. They have spent some serious money doing this place up as it’s really nice inside, there was virtually no smell in there and everything was very clean. Then again it had only been open a couple of weeks when I visited. My food was very nice, although the portion sizes could have been a little more generous, but that’s generally the case in every Indian restaurant or takeaway I have ever been to. The food is good but, controversially, not as nice as their delivery food in my opinion. That said I will definitely go back again.
Lovely setting, well decorated modern interior great service and awesome food. Plenty of choices on the menu and the dish sizes were huge! Staff were knowledgable on how to describe the dishes and there were a variety of traditional and modern choices.
We ordered a curry last night and it was fabulous!! Best curry we have had in ages! We all loved the food and said it was just as good as eating in and the food was fresh and not oily at all! Thanks for a fab meal we will be returning :)
This food is always amazing. I love the green chicken. It’s super spicy. Also love the tandoori king prawn and prawn purée. Very tasty excelling dining in and take out experience.
Fantastic authentic tasting food here. Good ambience and high class dining. One of the finest Indian restaurants out there. Price is a little expensive but I guess that is understandable.
What an excellent restaurant. We went there last niught on a recommendation of a friend, and were blown away. Starting with the decor, it is stunning, brick and stone walls with wooden beams make it very special. Then the food! Amazing, try the Tikka Tricolore for starter, lovely. It was very different to the regular Indian restaurants, influences of Bangladesh and Pakistan gave you a superb variety of different meals to try. Finally the staff, really pleasant, service was good but not rushed, and afterwards they were happy to talk to us, particularly with great pride about the restaurant. Will we go back, YES YES YES as soon as possible.
Fantastic food, great service, with the low ceiling very 'loud' in their with a couple of big groups but didn't distract from being a fab restaurant
Absolutely beautiful food, can't wait to head back to try more of the menu. Staff were brilliant and a great atmosphere with everyone enjoying their evening
Excellent food. Always prefer to sit in the restaurant if possible. Love it here!!
Excellent food as always service was outstanding and super fast. Will deffo come again!
Salaam/hi I am staying nearby for work and I ordered a takeout from here. After confirming over the phone all the food is halal I ordered a mix grill with biryani and a naan bread. The food was actually delicious, fresh not overly spicy and also really good portions for the price. And delivery time was accurate as well! After a days fast it satisfied all my cravings and not only that they also threw in a vegetable curry on the house for me which was really tasty especially with the garlic naan bread I ordered. I have eaten from pretty much all the local Indian/Bangladeshi takeaways in this area and this is definitely the best one in the locality. Definitely will order again!! Thank you!
Absolutely great experience! We came here for an anniversary dinner and had a great meal. Asked the waiter for recommendations and he was really helpful. I was annoying about changing my drinks order several times but the waiter was very kind and understanding. The food and flavours were brilliant and we really enjoyed trying new dishes we had never heard of 5stars!!!
First time I've eaten in the restaurant and I was very impressed. Food was top quality. Service was very good. Nice inside.
The experience at Ruby's was an incredible one. Despite being a very packed Saturday night, service was fast and efficient. The staff were very courteous and were routinely checking up on our table. The atmosphere was also electric too, with many people enjoying the experience too. I would definitely recommend for anyone who wants a nice night out with family and friends. Even for big groups too!
Best takeaway ever every time it’s amazing! An the delivery was the quickest delivery ever I have never got a delivery any quicker I’m so shocked! Best lamb Ceylon if I could give higher than 5 stars I would 🙌🏻 Best food, service an staff💖 worth every penny ignore any bad reviews clearly they don’t know what a good curry is! The meat is just unreal!
Great food, plenty of space between tables, good menu options. Pleasant background music and good service. Parking on opposite side of junction. Clean & stylish bathroom.
Wonderful place, staff are extremely attentive and speed of service was exceptional. The food was presented in unique ways that definitely made it a talking point. Their only let down was that as the night went on and the restaurant filled up, the staff were not able to meet the needs of everyone at once, perhaps understaffed. Other than that, would recommend, very pleasant evening
I was hesitant to attend due to COVID but the atmosphere was excellent and the service friendly. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. There was small issues with the menu as some items were not available but this was sorted and other options were given.
Was very tasty, and not so much of an English curry restaurant (korma ,masala) which I liked , however I was expecting more and the presentation was far better than the food , still tasty and would go again though :)
Not your ordinary curry house. Interesting and original menu from excellent quality ingredients. Generous portions, great flavours, but a bit pricey. Customer service is excellent
First time with my fiancé here. It was absolutely lovely. The gentleman who looked after us was kind and attentive. The place is clean and beautiful. The food is great and came quickly. Only downfall was that we couldn't a cocktail! But we will be back when the cocktail connoisseur is back in town!:)
Very good curry, I would say one of the best I have had. It may not be the cheapest however the portion sizes are very good in terms of the amount of meat you get. My only issue was the large group of men who were rather loud but that is hardly the restaurants fault. Would return, would recommend.
My family and me pass through Bishop's Stortford 2 or 3 times every year, usually as a final night before catching an early flight at Stansted the next day. We've made it a tradition to get a takeaway from Rubys and the place never disappoints. The food is high quality and generous and we've not had a bad meal yet. It would be nice if we could ask for disposable cutlery or plates because we've had to improvise for our hotel situation but the food itself is lovely.
Usually i order meat based curry however I ordered a prawn Korma curry, nice sauce as usual but the prawns were not even the large ones. They were tiny things like something from Aldis Frozen section and they were only slightly warm when eating. Do not reccommend. I would never order that if i knew how it was like! To think if you were at the restaurant you'd pay the same amount of money and order a prawn korma but because its takeaway there is cheap baby prawns in there.
Good ambience and good service unfortunately for us the food was not up to standard , and rather expensive £7 for a side dish of Bombay aloo & mushroom Bahji pint of draught kingfisher £7.00 Total bill with. Tip came to £113.50 for two people.
Below our expectations.Ordered a Lamb Vindaloo and a lamb Phatan. The lamb was big ,hard chunks. First time we ordered there was more vegetable in the vindaloo this time there was 4 thin slice of potatoes.Really a reap off.Another downside is we ordered 2 separate dish and the texture was the same.Would not recommend
Food at both Rubys restaurant and takeaway is always incredible. However, the service was slow and one of the waiters came across a tad rude/inappropriate towards the girls in our group. We had a large group of 10 and the food came in good time baring in mind there so many many of us. The service wasn’t ideal but the food was incredible and overall price was very good.
Good food let down by the scam they’ve been running for order collection. On their website it says they give a 10% discount on order collections over £15 (image attached), however when you get there they have another menu in the shop that says it’s £25. They’ve been doing this for over a year now and just apologise every time. Which menu are people looking at when they order online? Not the one in the shop. Avoid this place until they stop scamming customers.
I regularly order a takeaway away from Newton Rd, I normally order the same item Tandoori chicken tikka off the Bone. I ordered tonight my food came but the chicken didn't look the same. So I called them and was advised I had been sent the correct item but they were cutting down on food colouring it now apparently looks more like Nandos chicken was the exact words the gentleman told me over the phone (if I had wanted Nandos I would have ordered it). They must have cut out more than colouring as the chicken was bland not nice at all. Really disappointed. Doubt I'll order again.
Was very disappointed with the food this time. When the restaurant first opened we came here and it was amazing. However this time, the food was bland and it wasn't just me who thought this, other people in the group were also disappointed. They had cocktail menus on the table but were not serving cocktails. Tables weren't ready when we got there even though we booked weeks in advance. Everything seemed very chaotic compared to our previous visit
It was very expensive for tiny portions.
Ok but a bit bland. But 3.75 for a single roti? Same for a chapatti? Crazy prices for a takeaway. Portions v small too.
We have been Ruby’s fans for ages. But the last 2-3 times we have ordered it has disappointed us. The food had oil slicks floating on top, there were 4 pieces of chicken and the entire portion size shrank! We have had bad belly’s the last two times. Sadly, we will be looking elsewhere. Sad to see Rubys quality decline but there are better options.
They’ve shifted take away to a different location. The take away is nowhere near the quality of the main restaurant. Tough chewy chicken. Poor quality madras. One of the worst curries I’ve had in a while. Very disappointing.
Awful experience last night had table Booked for 7 15 food was late the waiter was very pleasant tho when food arrived it was good but the wait was ridiculous, the worse bit was at the end a young waiter come with the bill it was 150 so my friend paid 80 and I said I’d match that paying by card ( giving them a undeserved tip ) and the young waiter sighed I said are you really sighing mate ? He didn’t respond sorry if paying by card and giving you a tip is really rude walked out feeling like I wish I paid nothing ! … not happy with customer service it was like we re in the corner and nobody will come to you won’t be going back , been getting the takeaway from rubys for years no problem but won’t be going to the restaurant again
Moved here and visited all the local Indians as we love to visit an Indian restaurant regularly- this one is horrendous, don't bother. The food is bland, the place was empty when we went in. Very Expensive. Happy to pay higher prices when the meal is good. But this wasn't even worth paying cheap for. Bad to the point where I'd have prefered one of those Indian boxes from a supermarket. Felt totally ripped off and will never use again.
Awful experience where the waiter outright calls the customer a liar. Humiliated, embarrassed and angry. Had a voucher for Red Letter Days which I was told a few times was fine. As close to the booking as 2 days before even. Then drive there 45 mins to be told not accepted. Would have stayed if the waiter had simply apologised for the miscommunication, but he outright said to me no you didn’t speak to anyone. Erm yes I did! So much for putting the customer first. Business is business right!!!
I just had a phone call with this restaurant. Phone call answered by a male. We asked, can we confirm that your tandoori mixed grill is gluten free as our dad is highly allergic. He abruptly responded with: if it says it is gluten free, then it is. I am not trying to kill you. I responded with: we don't appreciate your attitude. He responded with: I don't appreciate you accusing me. I responded, I am not accusing but just confirming as this is my dad's health. I was rudely told that he does not want my custom and he hung up the phone. I don't know if this person was having a bad day, but it is unacceptable to be rude to a customer or to make sarcastic remarks regarding an allergy. I have lost faith in this place. I do not recommend. What a disappointment and unnecessary attack on a customer who was merely confirming allergy suitability.
A customer should be assured and not rudely shouted at when asking for allergen information. I regularly ordered from this restaurant but after a family member who has an allergen problem wanted to try it, i asked on the phone for confirmation and was rudely shouted at by an employee. They ignorantly shouted and said they do not need my custom. IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY, DO NOT ORDER FROM RUBY'S.
We had a very strange experience with Ruby’s (Restaurant branch) and left feeling disappointed. Our order was taking longer than usual to arrive. When we called to check, the person we spoke to, who we understood to be the owner, was very aggressive and gave chaotic, defensive responses. I’m now hesitant to order from them again after being left a little shaken from the call.
Where do i start, other than to say this place is best avoided. If you have any experience of good quality Indian food you are in for a massive disappointment if you eat here, the fact that me and my partner had different dishes that tasted exactly the same was just the start of it. Its clear that there is a lack of care and flair in the kitchen, both meals where under cooked, the base source bitter and not cooked out enough to give a rounded taste, and using the same base for both vastly different meals ends up with them tasting exactly the same! The meal itself didnt get finished, it just tasted wrong and not nice in the slightest. Price wise, Be warned. the Menu of the website for eat in is not the menu you will be greeted with when you dine, the prices are MORE than you can expect to pay for a meal in London, at £75 for 2 starters and two mains with 4 very small bottles of cola, would only every be acceptable if the food was outstanding, Its far from that, its not far from inedible.
