Opiniones de Chela Brooklyn
Run here, to eat ASAP, you won’t be disappointed. We went here for my friend’s birthday and coincidentally it was restaurant week. We initially thought of ordering from the regular menu, and we did order a couple things from there but then we decided to give the restaurant week menu a try - we didn’t regret it! Our waitress was wonderful, the manager was so attentive and the atmosphere was great, it was one of the coldest nights in NYC so it was a little nippy, whenever the door opened (a nice thick curtain by the door might really help with that). That is literally the only complaint that we had, which wasn’t even their fault really because we haven’t had such cold winters in years. The margaritas were perfect!! The corn on the cob is truly the best that I’ve had. I used to love getting a pick up order of corn on the cob from Cafe Habana, that will not be happening again. Chela is my go to spot for the Elote from now on!!! The New shrimp tacos with grilled shrimp were the bomb, all the ingredients complemented each other perfectly. The meat tacos from the restaurant week menu (not sure what they are on the regular menu) were finger licking good! The octopus appetizer from restaurant week had a nice kick to it, it refreshed your palette nicely. The Chela ribs need to be in my belly on a monthly basis! The Suiza enchiladas were so yummy and sauce was so creamy and on point! Tres leches is my jam and so happy they had it on the restaurant week menu! The tamarind Flan was delicious. All the portions were very generous. We left completely stuffed and extremely satisfied. We plan to go back here to try everything on the menu and then keep on coming back to enjoy all the things that we loved best. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion, big or small, or no reason at all. Come here if you want good food. They have gluten free and vegetarian options and a kids menu!
What an absolute gem. The atmosphere was warm, colorful but not overwhelmingly so, creative and unique. The music was fun and lively. Each staff member was kind, sincere, helpful and professional. The passionfruit chipotle margarita was delicious and balanced, and the tacos were scrumptious. I’ll definitely have to come back for the carnitas! I had the fish, vegetable, and chicken, each were unique and delightful. Chicken tacos can often be bland and dry I find but these were juicy and flavorful. I haven’t seen a veggie taco with that ingredient combination before and each component complimented the other artfully. Even the free chips and salsa were unique and delicious. You don’t usually see a free salsa with such care and depth of flavor. I can’t wait to come back here and try more options from this thoughtful and unique menu! Cheers to you, Chela, you’re doing it right.
One of the Best Mexican restaurant in NYC. Lucky enough bumping into this Gem on the way to see the Stand up at The Bell Room. We didn’t have much time to explore, so we ordered A LOT! Fish tacos, Beef Barbocoa, Chicken rotisseries main course, Rice & Beans, On the house-Corn chips, and cocktails! Did I miss anything? Fish tacos was crispy golden brown, Bf Tacos was a killer! Actually we have already stuffed, but Chicken was coming! The Cocktail with Jalapeño was my fav of the night. It’s very good. With a strong touch of spicy, and sweet of the sugar on the rim.
Held a surprise congratulations brunch for my best friend, and the staff at Chela were FANTASTIC. Every person was super cheery, helpful, excited for us, and accommodating. We all got different drinks and we ended up passing our drinks around the table because everyone kept saying "This is so good, you have to try this!" Our dishes were phenomenal and really generously portioned. Staff brought us complimentary sparkling wine to toast my friend, which was so kind and so fun. (They also brought complimentary triceratops to the kids at a nearby table, so this type of attentive generosity applies to all types of customers!) Perhaps most importantly: they let us just hang out for a while, sipping our drinks and catching up and laughing, which for Saturday brunch in Brooklyn feels like the height of generosity. 11/10 for Chela, and immense gratitude from me.
Had Chela for lunch today (it was a company lunch) and it was really good. I got the enchiladas mole poblano with brisket and everything was super flavorful. The mole sauce was rich and had a lot of depth without being too sweet or too heavy. The brisket was tender and paired really well with the sauce. The portion was filling and it definitely tasted like a solid, well-made meal (not just “okay takeout”). Even though it was packed up for lunch, it still held up really well and tasted great. I’d definitely order this again and I want to come back to try more things on the menu.
Arrived here on a Saturday afternoon and it turned into a Saturday night. GOOD TIMES!!! The service was great, professional and fun. We had a bunch of appetizers and ALL were tasty. Thank you Johnny, Patty, and Ben for making it a great night for us. We will certainly be back to try the rest of the menu.
Hidden gem of Park Slope for authentic Mexican cuisine, not to mention the best margaritas in the neighborhood. Carlos / Esteban are awesome bartenders. Love the open kitchen; these chefs know what they are doing. The vibe is great whether you are with a group for dinner, or at the bar for happy hour. Definitely check this place out if you haven’t been!
This review is about a month delayed, but I had brunch here at the bar with a couple of girlfriends and was truly blown away by the attentiveness of the staff. The third member of our party arrived much later — after my friend and I had already begun eating our meals (possibly even after we’d already finished, or were near finished…) We ordered for her at the same time we ordered our food, though, and without even having to ask or say anything, the staff carefully waited and watched for her to arrive so that they could promptly serve her her meal once she was seated. They had clearly been keeping it warm for her in the kitchen. I ordered the vegan version of their Gorditas De Hongos, which was phenomenal. (FYI this is only an appetizer; Chela does currently offer one vegan brunch entree option, though: the Vegetarian Enchiladas, sans dairy.) My non-vegan friends, both of whom are Mexican, loved their dishes as well. We stayed for a couple of drinks after our meal, so ended up being there for a good while — at least a couple of hours. Every single one of the bartenders and waitstaff who served us and who we otherwise interacted with were abundantly kind/warm, friendly, and professional. I’d been here just once before this, earlier this year, that time just for drinks, but had a great experience then, too. The margaritas are super tasty, and there’s lots of flavors to choose from. 10/10 recommend Chela for any occasion and any time of day! Can just about guarantee you will be well taken care of and have a great time. Salud :)
From start to finish, everything was full of flavor and made with care. I started with the wings crispy, perfectly cooked, and covered in a sweet and smoky glaze that’s seriously addictive. Then I had the Tacos Árabes and the Brisket taco both were packed with bold, delicious flavors that felt like comfort food elevated to the next level. To drink, I ordered the Mezcal Paloma, which was refreshing with just the right amount of smokiness. It paired perfectly with the meal. The vibe was welcoming, the service was great, and you can really taste the love in every bite. Highly recommend if you’re in Brooklyn and craving amazing Mexican food. I’ll definitely be back!
I must say, this place has one of the best palomas I've tried among other Mexican restaurants! Their enchiladas suizas were rich in flavor and came close to homemade enchiladas, along with their side dish of arroz y frijoles. The sauce was creamy. The staff was very attentive and super friendly. I will definitely be visiting again to have another paloma :D
Spacious with nice decor. Got the guac, it was fresh but taste was average. Chips were good. Also got the chicken, fish and shrimp tacos. Each tasted different and nice, I liked the fish one more. Also got the chicken enchiladas, quantity and taste both were good. The churros at the end were very fresh and crispy. I would have preferred having a chocolate dip instead of it poured on it. A good stop overall.
Great vibes here for happy hour! $10 tacos and margaritas. The wait staff are super friendly and attentive. This spot has plenty of seating for happy hour, but is absolutely packed during dinner time. LOVE that they serve house fried warm tortilla chips with salsa as you peruse the menu. The fish tacos here were super crispy, but the pickled onions were a bit on the sour side, and the cream was a lot for the small amount of fish. In general, portions are definitely on the smaller side.
Taco Tuesday gets you three tacos for a good price! We didn’t quite like the chorizo and potato one but the brisket one was really good. Enchiladas suizas was good, big plate, almost enough for two! Churros were also very good. Overall great experience, could come back for more drinks and trying out other dishes.
The quality has definitely gone downhill over the years. Used to love the fish tacos in the initial few years they opened but they’ve changed. I can’t keep track any more of what’s good here food-wise. Margaritas are still very good!
We loved the atmosphere of this beautiful little Mexican restaurant. The colors and textures of the decor are appealing and lift the spirit as do the simple touches added. Drinks are great and the bartender is friendly and accommodating. No backyard but a few tables on the street with the front of the restaurant open for fresh air dining. However as a vegan this place is lacking. The menu has many vegetarian options but not one meal designed for a vegan. Yes it’s easy to omit the crema and queso but then the meal is lacking the creamy texture and flavor it was designed to showcase. If you’re feeling creative you could make it work. We enjoyed our drinks and left in search of backyard dining with vegan choices.
