Had such a good time dancing! Music was incredible. Good crowd.
I had a great time here. I recently visited for my birthday with some friends. Parking was relatively easy to find in the area and it’s near the bridge too. I loved the live percussions which gave me a taste of clubs in Miami but minus the indoor smoking and minus the money machines. Haha. The also have red stripe which is a cool beer from Jamaica. The DJ played good music. I would visit this establishment again. The only thing that sucked was the $15 cover charge 🙃
Bembe hidden Gem 💎 on your block... In the mood to dance the night out with friends or with a lover, Bembe is the spot... Great DJs from Afrobeat to Reggae, Reggaeton Bachata, Salsa, Amapiano, Cumbia... Bembe is the spot. Be sure to Check them out...
Great music, great environment.
Really fun, small club. We went on the Thursday and it was full. The music is upbeat Latin dancing/pop music. On DJ was good, the other was so-so. The drinks are $10 per shot, or $15+ for a mixed drink. Our cover was $15. Worth the entry fee.
I went on a Wednesday which is for Afrocentric music. This is the type of musics that gets you dancing all night. I'm not kidding if you love to dance go on a Wednesday night and you will understand what I'm talking about. The place is small but the music is mighty. Drinks are a bit pricey but it's New York and a night club. Be open minded when you go and let yourself let lost in the rhythm. All people who enjoy dancing, African, Carribean ladies and gentlemen I recommend you try wed night.
Bembe was a whole vibe The music had everyone moving and the energy was nonstop The dance floor was lit the entire night with a good crowd good beats and a great spot if you’re looking to let loose and enjoy yourself Definitely coming back
Excellent environment!!! I had so much fun with my friends there and the drums are FANTASTIC! Looking forward to go again!
here to tell the DJ from halloween that i love them. that’s THE BEST music ive heard so far in years, absolute impeccable vibes!! will definitely be back!
We visited on a Monday, so there was no cover and place started to fill up after 10pm. Bouncer was friendly as well as the bar staff. Clean bathrooms. Great place to dance, upbeat music and live percussion. It is loud inside, we had to yell right next to ours ears to hear each other. Canned and bottled beers. Only water was offered was $3 Poland spring bottles. Cocktails are fine, simple cheap alcohol to fuel your need to dance.
Best place for afro/latino/hip-hop dance vibes. Always great music and affordable.
The best night out - been going for years (at least 8!) and it’s such a vibe.
Great energy, music is good, the Rum Punch is fire and the crowd is nice
No notes. Anyone who doesn’t get the time your wonderful team takes, the ideal lighting or curated menu, may I suggest Cheesecake Factory? You’re the best never change or do but only if it’s for love. Thank you for being you. ✨
Stumbled across this little gem before a concert. I love the personal touch of the waiter writing down the menu on the table. Food was delish and service was great. Will definitely return
Great restaurant with a good drinks selection and great food. Especially nice for people who appreciate a good kitchen and special tastes. The food was very fresh and original, there were pescetarian, vegetarian and gluten free options (although less options for vegetarians). There were quite some fish options and some meat options - nothing really for vegans. I am coeliac and I told them about it - the waiter was very knowledgeable and clear about what had gluten (and even where there was cross contamination from the fryer and white soy sauce they use in some dishes). They don’t have any gf bread but I had a great experience and ate very well. They had a flourless cake which was awesome and I could eat for deser to highty, highly reccomend overall! It is on the pricier side but defo recoomend and worth it!! Definitely get a reservation.
One of the most memorable dinners I have had in Williamsburg, thanks to both the food and the incredible service. Our waiter Benjamin set the tone right away. He came to the table, unrolled white paper, and literally wrote out the menu for us, walking us through every dish with so much detail and enthusiasm. It felt personal, special, and set the stage for the meal to come. We started with the crudo, which was absolutely out of this world. Fresh, bright, and paired with the most insane garlicky dip in a little ramekin that we shamelessly saved to dunk bread into after. Next up, the Caesar salad. They called it “robust” and they were not lying. As a Caesar purist, I can confidently say the anchovy dressing was perfection. The sweet corn risotto was probably my least favorite. I expected it to be a little “cornier” (ha) and thicker in texture, but everything else more than made up for it. The brick chicken was a showstopper. However they flatten and crisp that bird, they brick the hell out of it and lock in every bit of flavor into the skin. Absolutely unreal. And dessert. I did not know ice cream could be this sinful. The Wendy’s Ice Cream Sundae was unreal. Chocolate, cherries, bordeaux. It was decadent, nostalgic, and had me literally drooling at the table. If you want a dining experience that is both elevated and full of character, Diner is it. Benjamin made the night, the food blew us away, and I am already planning my return.
This place is amazing. I’d totally recommend it. We didn’t try the classics, but the swordfish and asparagus were delicious. I really appreciated that the server wrote down the menu for us; it made it easier to follow the dishes and really enjoy the experience. The wine was excellent as well.
This is one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn and it’s great for a date night/special occasion. The staff is very friendly and yes, a member of the team will come over and walk you through the menu for the evening. This is because they source different local ingredients based on what is available causing the menu to shift frequently, while also having some core staples like the burger. We had the Caesar salad which is the best Caesar I have had, the roasted peach porchetta, and mussels. The wine list is also a plus!
Good food, great service and lovely outdoor seating! Love it when the servers are so friendly and smiling ! The caeser salad was deliciously cheesy and crunchy, both the grass-fed burger and chicken were wholesome too! The sea bass was so-so but no complaints! The drinks were strong too which makes them worth the price.
Had a really great time at this place. Everyone was just having a good time, with no drama. The DJ was pretty good also.
I really liked this place. The music was a combo of Latin/ Caribbean/ afrobeats (on a Saturday). they also had a live drummer playing along with the music. I thought that added so much to the experience. Definitely some of the best music I’ve heard at a New York bar. Drinks were reasonably priced and pretty good, $14 for a mojito. Cover was $15 pp, which is not too bad. however, the place was packed and we were there somewhat early, around 10-11pm. It is pretty small for dancing. It would be nice to limit the amount of people inside so the people in there can have a better time. I also didn’t like that there were a lot of single guys standing around watching the girls. They weren’t being creepy per se, but it was uncomfortable for me even though I was with my boyfriend. Like, just go dance with your friends! Stop leering around trying to pick up girls. Anyway, I would go back for the music and decor. Maybe on a weekday.
Paid $15 on Friday night around midnight but I’d say it was worth it. The music was amazing and the crowd was really fun - people were actually dancing and having the time of their lives. Mixed drinks around $15. Great music and atmosphere, I’d definitely come again.
Big woman came and sharpie wrote menu on my table cloth (made of paper) NOT FOR ME! Cezar salad tasted like 1 million calories. Chicken was good.
Went for the Latin rhythms to dance with friends on Thursday, drinks were okay, service at bar good, it wasn’t full so it was nice but the music was not what it says in the website, and then when finally played Latin music some salsa, merengue and bachata for like half hour and then mostly the worst existing reggaeton. Latin American music is rich with cumbia, afro rhythms, Mexican cumbia, even there’s good reggaeton but the DJ was just bad on selection and thy way songs were mixed or change, really terrible! Spotify would create a better playlist!
Food was flavorful and well done. Fresh ingredients, good consistencies, and balanced flavors and original. Limited vegetarian options. Cozy interior, but the concept seemed like…trying too hard to be different and hip…? Why do you make your waiters write down the menu on the table for each group of guests? Doesnt even save paper since those menus are not reused. And honestly, our waiter’s handwriting was sometimes hard to read. Also, quite pricey. The crab pasta was $35, the celery root was also $35 (like what?!), the squash was $23, and the Caesar salad (not pictured) was $22. Service was friendly and knowledgeable on the food but slow.
Takes a long time to dine here because the server comes over and personally tells you the entire menu and writes it on the table. Appreciate the personal touch but it does take a while. Grilled eggplants was good and so was the brick chicken. The burger was a bit lacking unfortunately. Overall a nice dining experience and unique, small menu though.
I deeply dislike writing poor reviews but this unfortunately isn’t the same place it used it be pre-covid. The staff aren’t nearly as kind as they used to be and it gets super hot inside. We also found the bouncer to be unnecessarily rude and (granted it isn’t the fault of the venue but just a change in clientele) found many of the male patrons to be super aggressive as opposed to just dancing normally with you
We asked for a food menu and the poor waiter had to write the whole thing directly onto the table with a Sharpie. If you had any questions about the slew of information he recited from memory you had to call him over to repeat himself, and we felt guilty about it because you could tell it must have been like the 20th time he did it that day. The restaurant is called "diner" so we expected the experience to be a least a bit reminiscent of a diner but there's not even any coffee. Came here on a whim, at least the experience gave us a good laugh. Won't be back though.
The bouncer is incredibly disrespectful and should not only be fired, but Bembe should be sued for poor hiring and retention practices. The bouncer aggressively hit on me as I was entering the ladies room. I politely declined his advances. Later in the evening as he was passing by and saw me sitting by myself (my date was purchasing drinks at the bar), out of the blue he began uttering some pretty disrespectful and loud comments. I was so embarrassed. I dressed him down, and immediately reported him to the manager. My date and I left with assurances from the manager that the bouncer would be fired because they were fed up of receiving complaints about him. I have never stepped foot in Bembe since. He should have been fired on the spot for his insane conduct and management should have followed up with me via phone to express their regrets and to offer some gesture in the way of trying to amend matters. Failure all around. Poor hiring, poor management, insane bouncer.
During my visit, I was met with extremely rude behavior from the bouncer, which left a very negative impression. Additionally, the establishment was not clean and had an unpleasant odor. I would strongly encourage management to address these issues particularly ensuring that staff treat guests with respect as this would significantly improve the overall experience.
