Great chicken shawarma. But they like to service and cater to the male audience first, I guess it's customarily in their culture. I was waiting in line and majority of people on line were males and the guys behind the counter only took the male orders first before me so I finally stood in front of counter by the register looking at them like this is ridiculous that I have to wait to order while other male patrons came after me! Yes I know it was very very tight inside but they should say next or do a numbering system cuz its not appropriate how they just call on the males to order ahead of me just waiting there until I got aggressive.
Years and years of amazing Lebanese sandwiches apps and desserts. Even after leaving Brooklyn and New York, it’s worth making my way back to my favourite spot since I was a teenager :) Nothing has changed but the add on of a quaint and warm seating area filled with beautiful artwork by Middle Eastern artists capturing the beauty of Lebanese culture. Keep up the great work!!
5 stars for the food alone. Really great food, really liked the falafel. I'm picky with falafel, I like a lot of tahini, and good flavor, and this falafel delivered! The portion sizes are really good too, and they give plenty of toppings. The place isn't fancy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Absolutley would order from here again.
I'm Lebanese Australian and have been living in NY for 11 years. This is by far the most authentic Lebanese food I've had in NY! I drive over 40 mins for this food and have been eating here for years. Best food and the best service!
cozy clean spot providing authentic, fresh and delicious food. My boyfriend and I had the menaish (cheese olive and parsley pie)..We shared half a roasted chicken served with the garlic sauce (so fire) and pickles…comes w pita too. Hit every spot right. we tried the cheese blintz and rice pudding which were not too sweet.
I been eating at karam restaurant since 1993 when I went to fort Hamilton high school , always consistent and clean.
Wow, Amazing!! The food here is so fresh and good, I’ve been searching for the garlic sauce they make for years, finally doing it and it’s as great as I imagined!! ❤️❤️❤️
5 stars for the large spinach pie. It's by far the best spinach pie I have ever had. It's huge, with absolutely delicious crispy pastry and lemony, oniony filling. I make the trip from Windsor terrace every once in a while to have one.
We went for shawarma sandwiches. We ordered two sandwiches. One beef and the other is chicken shawerma. Both are big sandwiches and it can make you feel full after one sandwiches. The employees are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has small 3 or 4 tables for dine in and it looks cozy. We paid almost 40$ for 4 small Kebbe 2 shawerma sandwiches and fatayer spinach flavor. I think it is really worth the visit and the price is affordable, the taste is good but they need to improve their chicken shawerma. I highly recommend this place
i love the fact that they treat you like family and have good prices there sandwiches never changed either, and don’t get me started on that chicken it’s on point
Great food .Best chickens absolutely delicious.
I go to Karam regularly for their half chicken plate. My roommate thinks I have a problem, but I don’t care. Karam offers great value for delicious rotisserie chicken (I usually have half for dinner and save the rest for the next day), and I absolutely love the garlic sauce. The guys who work the counter are very friendly and quick. Whenever I don’t feel like cooking, I can always rely on Karam chicken!
Chicken shawarma is 100% authentic very flavorful
One of our favorite places for fast and delicious Middle Eastern food in the area. The staff members are sweet, and everything we've ordered from the shawarma to the lahmajeen pie has been tasty. Even their garlic sauce is addictive, and their baklava is amazing - makes me wish I wasn't prediabetic so I could eat more of it! Overall HIGHLY recommended.
As a native bay ridge baby this place has been a part of my entire life, my mother and I would go probably almost every weekend and always stop in a few times during the weekdays too. I grew up on this food. I don’t live in Bayridge anymore BUT I still comeback to south bk to KARAM at least one to two times a year to get my chicken Shawarma wrap. I will not eat Shawarma anywhere else. They are the only ones that know how to do Shawarma the way that I like it. ( the right way ) .. and that garlic sauce comeeee onnnnn! If you don’t know about this place you must be sleeping go there now! One of the few places in the last 40 years that hasn’t closed. And we had to keep it alive forever because it’s that good. :)
What a place! Love it. Great clean food
This Place is hands down the best Middle Eastern (Lebanese) restaurant on the East Coast. If you are looking for authentic, fresh, and fast meal, this is a must stop spot . You will not be disappointed.
been going here for at least 25 years. amazing every single time. i remember when the sandwich was $5 lol everything here is incredible. highly recommend.
Hungry? Looking for delicious food with outstanding flavor and all natural ingredients? Look no more! Come and enjoy food that will have your taste buds satisfied with an overwhelming joy 😊 don't worry about the price, it's worth every penny I promise 😉 ♥️ 100/10 TOP Quality for sure
We had a variety of the food catered for a family event it was excellent. I recommend everything! The set up was easy for the host all food was prepared and presented beautifully right from the catering platters. I would cater food from here if I lived nearby.
Cozy place with great food. Shawarma is worth the trip in any form ( plate, sandwich, combo ). Owners and staff are friendly especially when they know you have come from far. Year after year consistent with great food. A stop to Karam is a must!
The BEST in middle-eastern food in BayRidge.
Its been 12 years since I came here but everything I ate was delicious as usual.
Idk why this place has 4 stars! THIS PLACE IS 5 STARS! AMAZING LEBANESE FOOD. I recommend the roasted chicken with the rice and garlic sauce OMG amazing ! If you are getting a small plate- get the grilled chicken kebab with the garlic sauce and pita bread on the side. This place has been around before I was even born ! You will not be disappointed!
Delicious food. Must try the garlic sauce. Chicken is very juicy and I recommend the half chicken or shawarma wrap
The food was absolutely delicious … every dish was full of flavor, and clearly made with quality ingredients. i felt like comforting food to me😊
Great environment tried their half chicken it was great Their garlic sauce unbelievable Many meat options too
Great food, service and atmosphere. After returning from many years I found the food to be better than ever. The store had expanded in size and the service was ever accommodating. I would advise to go and check them out for a healthy and wholesome meal. 👍 The owner is truly a visionary and welcoming after all the years of my absence.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Karam Restaurant truly offers some of the best food in Brooklyn! Their roasted chicken and shawarma sandwiches are absolutely delicious—full of flavor and perfectly cooked. However, I’ve noticed some criticism in other reviews about the taste of Lebanese cuisine. I believe that each restaurant has its unique take on traditional dishes, so the flavors might differ from what some may expect. It’s important to keep an open mind and appreciate that every chef brings their own style and seasoning to the table. Overall, I highly recommend trying Karam for a wonderful dining
I recently ordered catering from Karam Restaurant, and everything was perfect. Ahmad went out of his way to prepare a customized order that wasn’t even on the menu, and he made sure everything was exactly what we wanted. The food was delicious, the meat was cooked perfectly, the flavors were unforgettable, and the presentation was beautiful. The service was amazing, and it felt like every detail was handled with care and from the heart❤️ Thank you, Ahmad, and thank you to the entire team at Karam. The shawarma, barbecue, hummus, and everything else were incredible. Karam restaurant is the best, highly recommended and I can’t wait to order again! 😋😋😋😋😋
Best chicken shawarma sandwich I’ve ever had. Their baba ganoush is also incredible. I ordered a large plate for a dinner party I hosted, and the guests all raved about it. highly recommend!
I recently visited Karam Restaurant, and I have to say, I was really impressed! The atmosphere is super relaxed, and the staff are friendly, making it a really welcoming place. The food was amazingfresh, flavorful, and the portions were huge! I tried the shawarma and it was honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Everything was cooked perfectly and just tasted so fresh. It’s definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to. If you’re looking for great food at a good price, Karam is definitely worth checking out!
Cannot recommend this place nearly enough! It’s a hole in the wall that’s been at the top of the Lebanese list of best flavors since forever, with the most delicious sandwiches and plates that you can either enjoy in their tiny dining spot or order for takeout. But what was even more impressive was their catering service that I tried for the first time earlier this month. Outstanding on all fronts, from the seamless menu building and pricing with Shawki, to the spotless delivery and beautiful buffet of authentic cold and hot mezze staples along with the warming mains that they set up themselves, to the generosity and quality of the dishes! On top of the perfectly seasoned hummus babaghannouj tabbouleh fattouch and cheese rekakat, crowd favorites were the vegan eggplant toasted nuts makloubeh rice, and the chicken taouk skewers for the meat eaters. Their gigantic servings of fresh fruit salad and sweet cheese dessert (halewet el jebn) were perfection!! We had so much food, every guest left with full bellies carrying out their own leftover platters! Happiness galore!
I have been going to this place since the late 90s. They didn't have a dining area before and it used to be a very cramped place to eat inside the restaurant. About 3 or 4 years ago, they extended the restaurant and added dining area, which makes it a very comfortable place for dine-in. As far as food is concerned, it has always been the top of the line. Restaurant remains open late in the night. Their food is authentic, fresh, and very tasty.
Makanek sandwich's sausages are delicious and really well seasoned. Has typical Mediterranean veggies but the sour cream and pickled radish (?) adds a really nice balance in terms in sour and acidity (which differentiates it from just another typical gyro). Lahmajeen pie is like a mini pizza, has a crispy crust and dough texture is soft like mochi, but not as chewy. I wouldn't recommend this pie as the overall taste was lacking for me—maybe try it with a different topping. The sweet cheese was surprisingly delicious. I'm used to cheese tasting salty but this cheese is actually sweet and not pungent at all. Biting into it you will taste hints of tea but it's not bitter or overpowering at all. Texture wise it's gently firm on the outside and a melty, soft on the inside. If you like tea, milk tea, or fluffy cheese I would recommend giving it a try! Cinnamon pudding is unique, has the texture of Japanese konjac jelly. It is topped with shredded coconut, pistachio, dates, and raisins which pair well with the pudding. This pudding is actually somewhat refreshing, I could see it being enjoyed as a chilled dessert in the summer. Not much seating available, 1 small table, 3 medium tables, 1 large table. Staff was very friendly.
You can find Brooklyn’s best Shawarma here (chicken or mixed with garlic sauce is my favorite). Fresh rotisserie is always a good idea for nights you can’t get around to make dinner. I love everything on their menu. All the cold apps/side are delicious. A great variety of combination plates as well, you can’t go wrong.
Authentic Lebanese and middle Eastern cuisine. Chicken rotisserie is one of its kind. Everything here is delicious. The chef kept similar quality of his dishes to the first day I discovered it. Please try their chicken rotisserie and falafel dipped in Tahini. Oh, dont forget the wide variety of oriental desert.
The Food was absolutely delicious. Having been to Beirut once in my life, I can say the atmosphere is reminiscint of it. The food was delicious and brought me back to when I was younger and eat Lebanese food more often. Definitely recommend.
The first time I ate from Karam, I was six years old. I am now 21 and still enjoy it as much as I did in 2010, maybe even more. The guys at the counter are always kind and make their customers feel special. I've moved to another state, but still visit family every year. When they ask me what I want to eat, I will always ask for a chicken shawarma from Karam :)
My family has been coming here for decades. Their shawarmas are UNMATCHED. So delicious! Their prices have increased over the years, but it’s always so worth it. Their sandwiches are large and filling, and their stuffed grape leaves are to die for—best I’ve ever had. Please come here for the best authentic Lebanese food
Karam offers an exceptional taste of Lebanon with its perfectly seasoned shawarma and juicy rotisserie chicken. The flavors are authentic, and the ingredients are fresh, making each bite a delight. The wraps are packed with flavor. Whether you’re craving a quick bite or a satisfying meal, Karam delivers both in taste and quality. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Lebanese fast food!
I had such a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely awesome, and the prices were very reasonable. The staff were incredibly sweet and helpful, making the meal even more enjoyable. The qatayef here are so good—seriously a must-try! The lemonade was refreshing and delicious, and the chicken was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back!
5 stars just for the absolutely amazing food! We literally just moved here yesterday and I was craving some really good shawarma a d this place looked like it might deliver so we decided to check it out. Starting off, just looking through the window I knew I was going to like the food. They had 2 of the vertical rotisseries of meat going as well as some whole chicken's roasting. They had a case full of different savory pies, including my favorite, za'atar. Employees were polite but straight to the point which I really appreciated. Hubby and I both got the beef shawarma wrap and a za'atar pie to share. I was back in the Middle East with my first bite of food. The flatbread was soft and perfect and the toppings and fillings were so flavorful and delicious, I seriously wanted to cry. Been in New York about 24 hours and we already have a go to place.
Neighborhood staple serving brooklynites delicious halal food. Prices are reasonable and food is always fresh. Staff is attentive and facility is clean.
Excellent and consistent Rotisserie Chicken, Chicken Shawarma, Stuffed Grape Leaves, White Rice. My go to when in a pinch for time... the pick up is the way to go unless you like paying a King's ransom in delivery fees through Seamless.
The sandwich is decent but the price is crazy. I told him tell me the real price and he told me it's $17 for a chicken shawarma sandwich. Wild. But the food is good quality.
First, the good... their Chicken Shawarma sandwich is a last-meal-going-to-the-chair type of sandwich. It is insanely good. Now, the bad... First - They treat everyone poorly, and have no customer service skills. Your gender, your race, your religion doesn't matter. They treat everyone equally as poor. Second - Caveating this by saying I understand that good help is hard to find, so I can't be too unfair here. But, here's one thing I won't ever understand with this place or any place where counter staff has direct interactions with the public. Why do they put NON ENGLISH SPEAKERS in positions where they have to speak to customers? I refuse to believe that these business owners are that naive...
Food is pretty good and reasonably priced for what you pay for. The customer service is BAD! guys at the cash register usually have an attitude, and are condescending to certain races, ALSO they FORCE YOU TO TIP!!!! starting with 15% even if you don't dine in and are only picking up food. THERE IS NO OPTION TO NOT TIP OR ADD A CUSTOM TIP??!! Do better.
I had half chicken it was good but need to be more marinade cuz the taste is close to be like plain chicken very light seasoning and more cooked will be yummy
I visited New York and tried this restaurant. The place is clean and the food is delicious, but unfortunately the service is poor — you basically have to serve yourself.
Im just a city boy. I wasn't expecting this. I didn't even get a menu, I just got what I deserved. I lost my NES for a nintendo switch too, but at least the food was good.
The restaurant in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn has Lebanese/Mediterranean food. I ordered the zaatar pie, shawarma combination with a small salad, fried cauliflower and lentils. The food was average in taste. The portion size was average. The restaurant has two separate sections-one is for takeout and the second is for dining in. However, if you dine in they call you that your food is ready. The customer is expected to pick up the food and then take a seat at an available table. Customer service could use an upgrade. Workers handling food wash your hands after touching and wiping face.
If you pay by card you are forced to pick a tip minimum 15%. They don't even bring you the food. The portions aren't good for the price. The large shawarma plate for 28 dollars was small in portion. The chicken they gave was a small amount. The chicken had little flavor. The hummus was bland.
I was so excited about this place because of the rave reviews but it was incredibly disappointing. The chicken shawarma was mostly inedible due to grizzle, fat, and cartilage. The falafel was SO dry and over cooked. The pita was extremely stale. The only good things were the garlic sauce and baba ganoush. One platter with the sauce side cost $33 with tip so definitely not worth the price. Very upset with this purchase.
I was first in shock when the guy told me a small side order of beans was $9.00. Then I was advised my single sandwich was going to be $18.00 I’ve been coming to Karam for probably about 15 years multiple times a week. The service was always pretty bad especially toward American looking customers. Now the quality of the food has declined and the ownership has basically raised prices 30-40%? I’m sorry but I feel this is unjustified and unacceptable, and a blatant price gouge. There’s plenty of other places in Bay ridge selling similar food for a fair price.. I won’t be back until they come back down to earth. Shame on you Karam.
I’ve been ordering from this restaurant for over 10 years, and I’m really disappointed with how things have changed. I recently ordered three lamb gyros and was charged $51, even though online the price is listed at $13–$14 each. The meat was dry, and the overall quality has declined — it mostly tastes dry, overcooked and lacks the flavor it used to have. $17 for one sandwich is not what you’d expect for takeout. I used to love ordering from here for my family, but sadly, the quality and pricing no longer make it worth it.
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. “The food was absolutely tasteless and seemed like it hadn't been cooked properly. My dish was bland and lacked any seasoning, and to make matters worse, the meat was still raw in the center. “ I can't recommend this place to anyone and will definitely not be returning.
The food here is great which is why I am always here. But today the customer service is unprofessional. I did not like the attitude of the man behind the counter. I tried to give him the card to pay for my sandwich but he gave that look and pointing to the machine. Whereas he did take some cards from customers before me. This is not the main issue. The main issue is when I asked for some garlic sauce on the side. He would not give me claiming that he already put some on sandwich with an angry face. Then he gave it to me after I insisted that whatever is on the sandwich is not sufficient enough. I would not mind to pay extra if it is required. They need to improve their service because this is not the first time they do it. I was hoping this time the experience would be better. But alas!
This is coming from a person who’s been to multiple middle eastern restaurants and knows what quality is. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT ENTER THIS ESTABLISHMENT. THEY CHARGE AN ARM AND A LEG AND THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I gave this place the benefit of the doubt being that I live a few feet away. Very bad over all experience. Steer away. I ordered multiple times and received food with undercooked meat. This places good is not clean. STEER AWAY
I used to order from this place all the time and I loved their food. Recently, the quality of food has been absolutely disgusting. I ordered their half chicken not too long ago and a weird order comes from the chicken and has no flavor. The next day I noticed my stomach cramping tremendously and I felt very unwell, not wanting to eat anything. Every time I thought of eating chicken, I felt so nauseous.
Was there yesterday, other customers were served before my son, although he was visibly on the line. Potatoes(batata harra) was cold, stale.nothing tasted Lebanese! Prices way too high for such mediocre food! Disappointed 100%!
Chicken shawarma sandwich for $17 !!! Way above average
$17 for a chicken sandwich. Should have asked how much before I ordered. Never supporting those prices again from there.
I usually do order from karam and try to eat there and usually had great experiences. I got the beef shawarma sandwich. The pita bread was cold. The beef was rubbery, and it took a very long time to chew in my mouth. It did not seem fresh at all to me. I asked for garlic sauce and the side, and they did not put it on the side, very disappointed with the sandwich which it was very cold, and very liquidy
18.95 after tax over 20$ for a chicken shawarma??? That’s ridiculous lol
They were very rude. It's the first and last time I will order anything. Please review your GrubHub contract. If I don't want to give a tip, it's up to me. You took a service fee and a delivery fee and you want me to meet the delivery guy on the street because it's not worth it to take a ticket. It's not my problem if you find a spot to park or not. You called me and asked me where you will deliver my order.
Extremely poor customer service with attitude and disgrace. The guy at the counter needs some intense customer training. He expects you to know the menu from the top of your head and order quickly and pay. Chunks of chicken pieces,so called Shawarma filled in bread or served in a box, with no taste at all. I have been and lived in the middle east and can definitely say that they make the real stuff, with a fantastic customer care and service. Avoid this place and go to Astoria for a better food experience.
What they're serving isn't close to being Shawarma. Dry, oily, burnt, dark-colored meat. It's supposed to be the exact opposite of that. This might work on American and non-Arab customers, but honestly, they're not even trying to serve high quality food. You'd expect better for a $13.00 sandwich !!!
Ordered 4 chicken kabab . The bread was stale . The chicken bite size was huge god knows how much steroids that breast was injected almost lost a tooth biting into the chicken . It was so disgusting I dont think im ever eating chicken again . The nerve to charge almost $100 for sandwiches and a fries . Never again!
I recently visited this place to pick up two sandwiches , and I was surprised by the prices. The sandwiches cost $16 each , which I found quite high. I also asked for tahini and garlic sauce, but I was told those would be an extra $2. Overall, I felt that the prices are excessively steep, especially considering that even a platter costs around $31. While the food might be good, the pricing seems unreasonable and could deter many customers
Major consistency issue, Chicken shawarma sandwich is different every time. Today it was so bad, doesnt even taste like the chicken that is shaved off the cone, The chicken is not well-done nor is it thinly sliced as it should be for shawarma. They put just thick-cut and regular cooked chicken. This is not what I would have paid $17 for if I had knew it was going to be like this. Zero consistency in this place, its a surprise everytime what you're gonna get.
I grew up eating here since I was a kid but unfortunately over the years the quality just go worse and worse and the prices have only increased .a chicken shawarma is $17-18 bucks ..? Seriously man? Sorry to say but I won’t be coming here anymore. Very disappointed and sadly by what this place has come to pass
I ordered falafel pieces and lamb shawarma and I threw both of them out in the garbage. I wish I took a pic of the stale old Falafels that were refried when I ordered them. The amount of oil and sogginess and stale old taste from the oil is disgusting. The shawarma was cut terribly-thick- and over spiced with a weird flavor and dry. I paid extra for more tahini, and it wasn’t added. As you can see, this is the last thing a shawarma sandwich should look like. I think there’s new Egyptian owners. This flavor is Not what Karam sandwiches were like. Extremely disappointed to see how bad things have gotten. Will not be returning.
Go somewhere else.. 1 sandwich, 1 gyro platter and a small lentil soup was $51.00!! The lentil soup was super bland and the other 2 items are nothing special when compared to other neighboring restaurants. Save your money go somewhere else..
The food was cold, I ordered whole chicken but it was stale and smelled really bad, the staff doesn't respect customers. I don't recommend it to anyone.
Used to love this place. Have been coming for years. They get very busy sometimes an hour wait for shawarma. I call ahead to place a large order. Last few times I called ahead and when I show up they didn’t make the order. Frustrating. Eliminates the purpose of calling ahead. Prices have gone way up and quality way down …..
No flavor or seasoning, their hot sauce tasted like nothing. If you like unseasoned food, this would a be perfect place to come for that. It was also around $17 for one shawarma... I'm never coming back here
I spent $35 on this order and it was extremely disappointing. The lamb sandwich and fries arrived completely cold, dry, and not fresh. The meat was so hard and chewy that it was almost impossible to eat, and it felt like it had been sitting in the fridge for many hours. The fries were also cold and inedible. This is not the first time I’ve had this experience with this restaurant. It seems that when you order late in the day, they do not serve fresh food — instead it feels like they use items that have been sitting since earlier in the day. If you are going to order from here, I would only recommend going in person so you can make sure the food is fresh. If you order online, I strongly suggest calling first, because my order arrived completely cold. For the price they charge, customers deserve fresh, warm, and properly prepared food. I am posting this review so others are aware of my experience and so the restaurant hopefully improves the quality of what they are sending out.
