Opiniones de Metropolitan Bar Brooklyn
My favorite local sushi spot in Williamsburg! Very reliable take out and delivery (haven't dined in yet). Always polite and fast service. I don't normally write reviews but they exceeded my expectations on a delivery order today. I added a note to my GrubHub order asking them for more fresh rice because the last time I ordered it was a bit too dry for my taste. They called me to make sure I was taken care of. Got my delivery in 15 minutes and everything was delicious! Ordered 3 roll, 2 roll, and uni hand roll today! Yum!
I ordered the sushi and sashimi combo today, and honestly it might be one of the freshest sushi meals I’ve ever had. Everything tasted super fresh and high-quality. The delivery was quick too. I’ve been a regular for a while now, and you guys always take good care of your customers. Thank you!
This sushi restaurant truly stands out as one of the best and freshest I have ever experienced. The quality of the fish is exceptional, and the prices are very reasonable for the level of excellence provided. Their omakase is my absolute favorite — creative, unique, and beautifully prepared.
I got amazing takeout from here tonight! Their crispy rice is delicious, I loved their dim sum sampler and their omakase box is so good!!! Their scallop is SO GOOD and I loved the sweet shrimp and ikura ! This is a great takeout
I recently had the pleasure of ordering delivery from Sushi Yoshi, and it quickly became one of my favorite sushi spots. If you're a sushi lover, this place is an absolute must-visit. First off, the portions here are huge! Every dish we ordered was generously sized and beautifully presented. The quality of the food is top-notch, and you can really taste the freshness in every bite. I highly recommend the salmon avocado roll – it's incredibly well-made with fresh, buttery salmon and creamy avocado that perfectly complements each other. Another standout was the egg yolk buns; they were delightfully rich and unique, making for a perfect ending to the meal. Overall, Sushi Yoshi exceeded all my expectations. With its huge portions, superbly made dishes, and fantastic service, it’s a sushi lover’s paradise. Whether you're in the mood for classic rolls or something a bit different like the egg yolk buns, this place has got you covered. Don't miss out on this gem!
Amazing sushi! Our go to takeout spot now. They put a lot of care in packaging the order every time. The food is amazing, my go appetizer is the crystal shrimp dumpling and they do NOT skimp on the shrimp it is jam packed. The Omakase Sashimi is beautifully packaged and tastes fresh. It was really fun to test new types of sashimi. It also tastes really good the cucumber roll with roe was my fave. Definitely give this place a try, it’s worth it.
Ordered delivery for the second time, both times superb: very fresh ingredients, expertly prepared, the best sushi I've had it quite some time, and they sent tasty complimentary mochi ice cream to boot.
We just ordered delivery for the first time and the sushis are absolutely amazing, fresh and delicious! They also surprised us with a mochi and we loved it.
4/2/2024 Edit: The quality has deteriorated the past 3 times I ordered. They’ve started to become stingy with the Osakase Set. They either replace the salmon roe with something cheaper, or replace the rolls with something cheaper. Disappointing. Original Review: This is possibly the best sushi I’ve had in the US. So fresh and absolutely amazing quality. I didn’t know it was possible to get sushi of this quality at this price outside of Japan.
Fresh sushi, and the omakase platter is my absolute favorite — everything was unique and incredibly fresh. The delivery was also much faster than I expected, arriving in just 30 minutes, even though we live quite far away. Overall, a wonderful experience and I’ll definitely be ordering again!
We ordered five sushi platters from Sushi Yoshi for a 40-person event, and everything was absolutely perfect. The sushi was super fresh, beautifully presented, and arrived right on time with all the sauces and extras we needed. The platters were well organized and visually stunning, and everyone at the event commented on how delicious the sushi was. We’ll definitely be ordering from Sushi Yoshi again for future events and highly recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality catering and reliable service.
This is super high quality Sushi! The guys that run it are so nice and generous. Great presentation on my sashimi box and they even threw in some free mochi.
Very delicious! Their omakase is consistently excellent, and the price is truly reasonable compared to other restaurants. The fish is absolutely fresh every time.
Great music always here - amazing outdoor vibes too - great patio.
Gregory is truly a very friendly and attentive barman. He put on a Lady Gaga album for me when I asked. This really is my favourite gay bar in Williamsburg.
Ya can't beat a classic gay bar in Brooklyn! Always a good time, friendly crowd, mostly gay & bi dudes but everyone welcome. Lots of bears and daddies. Honey Bears is the best night to go, it's once a month on the 3rd Sunday with Lokono & House of Ono, gogo dancers, trans girls if you are lucky
While I mostly stick to the gay bars in Hell’s Kitchen, this was a nice change of vibe and scenery. The outdoor area is really nice — despite patrons smoking out there even though there were signs saying not to smoke. Bartender seemed a bit annoyed at times with serving — unsure why. Drinks prices were great for NYC — low when compared to Manhattan. While the sneaker selections of the Williamsburg residents always perplex me…I’ll be back to this place for sure!
EDIT: You know what, even though I was really annoyed at that door person at the time, she has been working there a long time and is basically a nice person if a little grumpy. I also really appreciate that this bar is a place that's always there and so I'm gonna put more stars on this review and appreciate that people can have a bad night a little better. I like the place overall: they have nice programming and a cute backyard space. But listen, there’s this person who works the door, her name is [redacted] I think but I could be wrong. She’s costing the business money because she won’t let people in with forms of ID that are perfectly legitimate. I’ve watched her to do so several times to myself and others.
I don't know why people keep giving it bad reviews. Checked out the drag open night on Mondays. Great way to see local talent. Small and cozy but you can feel the love the regulars have for the place. In response to a few of the 1 stars I saw before going myself: Bouncer was brisk and was cautious of people coming in already super drunk or high, which I appreciated because it is a smaller dive bar. 21+ only so you need to have something to verify your age. (Which is very normal in my experience.). Thought it had charm and had a blast.
Placed an order for pickup. They must have moved location because the pictures of the stores are different. Ordered shrimp tempura rolls and they were good. However, there is no sign on the door so finding the entrance was a bit confusing. Not sure if they’re still in the processing of opening or renovating. When I opened the door, I was met with empty stares from the 2 workers by the door with no greetings and the area by the door was messy so I wasn’t sure if I was at the right restaurant.
I get takeout order from Sushi Yoshi. Hamachi Serrano is good with interesting Yuzu dressing. I also get Sashimi Appertizer it is 9 pcs sashimi of chef choice so it default to ordinary 3 fishes that every sushi place use; Tuna, Salmon and Hamachi which is I don't mind. The restaurant is budget friendly and mostly take out.
Delivery only. For takeout sushi/sashimi in NYC goes, this is the best one can get! I usually won't order sushi for delivery or takeout for quality concern. But I really wanted a light and healthy meal after another dreaded biz trip in SF. In comfy pajamas :) Took a chance on Yoshi while riding Uber home. And I was pleasantly surprised when the sushi/sashimi omakase arrived. It was well packaged in a paper box instead of a cheap looking plastic tray. Quality and quantity were great. Along with the seaweed salad, less than $50 bucks, at least 30% cheaper than the cheapest omakase one could get at a legitimate Japanese restaurant. Why not? Will reorder!
Perfect little gay dive. Love the lesbian bouncer who always yells at me for talking too loudly outside.
To the girl behind the food counter yesterday August 31st. If you gonna give me attitude for wanting a second hotdog, wear some gloves to lay out the cheese slices. After all You really care for the free food right?
I was looking forward to a new sushi spot on the block, the food was good, but when the check came there was an "Operational Fee" added before the tax, an extra $1.89, ( the cost of my food was $36.95, ) When I asked what an "Operational Fee" was for, my server hesitated and said - 'its a fee for restaurant operations..' After I replied that I'd never heard of one of those anywhere else - he said 'ok ok I take it off for you...' I did a bit of research when I got home, Junk fees of any sort are illegal in NYC, no "operational" fees, no "administrative" fees are allowed to be added after the fact. It also had nothing to do with Credit Card fees, by law they need to be included in the listed price on the menu. and I was paying cash anyway... I hate to leave a negative review of a new business, but if you're going to eat here - CHECK YOUR BILL !!!
3 stars because I used to love sushi yoshi and would get it 1-2x a week living nearby! the past 3 times i’ve gotten it the quality seems worse / more fishy / more mushy. not sure if they changed vendors but I tried 3 different times and each recent batch was not it
It’s a nice bar but the bartenders can do better or even try, weekend is the worst especially after paying $10/$20 to Enter…They are very rude , for example they serve people they know and after you tip them thinking they’ll be nice enough to at least ask if u Okai or if u need another drink, They greedy for tip but show no respect. The atmosphere is beautiful, they have great dancers and good Music. Who ever the boss is they need to have a talk with their staffs. Imagine paying to get in a Bar for a drink and The bartenders are moving weird. I was ready to go off. But ofc you gotta respect the bartenders BS.
I love the Metro because my friends love it. The patio is great and it’s wonderful to be out and about again. There’s one bartender in particular that could stand to be a bit more pleasant when dealing with anyone other than masculine presenting, cis white men. If I, as a non-gender conforming person of color should dare to ask a question about bar service (after repeatedly feeling overlooked) wouldn’t it be reasonable to be answered politely? Kick the attitude and remember that you’re serving other queer folks who are nothing but kind and waiting patiently for their first drink of the evening. I’ve been in the service industry for 15 years myself and it’s really not that hard to be a kind person.
A pretty average gay bar by the Lorimer stop. The atmosphere isn't anything exciting, the drinks are cheap. It's just as fun as you want it to be. I went for a gay friend's birthday party among a group of many gay men, some straight men, and some women. Honestly I had a blast dancing with my friends and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if all of of our group felt the same way, but overall it was still fine.
Lady letting people in seems entitled. I watched her start with someone who didn’t even want to go in which turned me off from going. Really bizarre atmosphere. Hope they figure it out
I used to like this place. Came here a whole lot in my 20s and 30s. Recently I got a job in the area and have given them my business every day this week. You’d think they would appreciate customers coming in daily but tonight left a really bad taste in my mouth. I was shooting pool all night on a paid pool table that is two dollars per game and because they had an event where they were watching RuPaul‘s drag race two guys were set up right in the way of the left side of the pool table to collect money as people came in through the door. When I asked if they could please move so I could take my shot in pool the door people got an attitude and said that they were working and didn’t wanna be bothered to get up so that I could take my shot. Why are they charging for pool if the employees won’t even move out of your way so you can take a shot? They acted like I was being inappropriate when they were messing with the customers money and the “product”. Then, as if that wasn’t bad enough, the bouncer came inside and said that I needed to leave because I was hassling the door people to get up so I could take my shot. The doorman said that I was hogging the pool table and I explained to him that when you continue to win, you get to stay on the pool table. It is not called hogging the pool table. It is called winning. I’m just really turned off by the whole experience. I really wish it didn’t feel like gay men hate gay women, but that’s what it actually feels like when you go to Metropolitan. Im really disappointed and hurt.
Fun bar - but despite both restrooms being labelled gender neutral, a bouncer sat by the doors told me I was only allowed in the ‘Gender neutral with urinal’ toilet, entirely defeating the point of having gender neutral restrooms at all. Disappointing for a queer space with lots of trans people.
Really gross. Ordered tuna crispy rice and was given one small drop of cooked tuna on oily fried rice. Really let down and had to throw it out. Order was from DoorDash. The Kano salad looked artificial as well.
kind of upset bc was looking forward to ordering after so many good reviews… i had the omakase platter and it was like 2 nigiris and 4pcs of a cut rolls. its under half the size of what it usually is??? like no expensive fish either that the menu or other reviewers showed, it was just a salmon nigiri and some white fish ???? for 40$+. they do just cut corners on cost where they can: giving less when possible, letting things go old, etc. i took a bite of my uni hand roll and it was so not fresh it tasted like old feet. the way they play with pricing depending on platform and how you order too is like very obvious that they care alot about tweaking everything to protect their margins.
Disturbed by the behavior of a bouncer who was unnecessarily unkind. We live in the neighborhood and have been here countless times, we arrived with a group and one person threw a can away and the bouncer chose to target that as the reason we couldn’t come in. Fair enough to excuse the two people drinking from a can, UNTIL he insulted the physical appearance of another of our group in order to exclude the uninvolved parties. It felt targeted, unfair and extremely weird. Not to mention a very empty bar… On pride weekend….
Not a fan of cover for a bar like this. It doesnt deserve a cover imo. But it might make sense considering that the one bartender (this is a Friday mind you) took 10 minutes to make 3 drinks for the people in front of me. The inside is a bit too loud for me considering there's no place you can even moderately escape the noise.
I have performed here for years. 1 particular incident made me never want to come back. A group of friends came to watch me perform and one of them was charged 4x the cover fee by the door person at the time - Molly Rhinestones. It isn’t lost on me that my friend who was overcharged was black. The cover that night was $5 but they were charged $20!!! Beware of nasty racist behavior
I'm really glad the female security guard checking ID's threw out a creepy guy that was touching people without their consent--she is great. But when my friend and I were waiting for a cab the male security did not allow us to wait inside despite the fact that my friend has a cane and foot boot due to a recent surgery. It is illegal to deny accesibility and I'm very dissapointed because everything else was great. Dec 7 night/dec 8 morning. Security needs to be reminded that it is illegal to deny people with accesibility needs.
