Great spot to work for a couple of hours. Nice atmosphere and good coffee!
Friendly local atmosphere, with a calm work environment- some tables are set aside from computer use while the others kindly ask you not to use technology. Is cash only for orders under $10.
Variety fresh delicious great service room to breathe indoor and outdoor seating... Parking avail out front. Excellent coffee tea, sweets, savory. All really good locally sourced food and drinks
Great Cafe with a wonderful staff. Friendly place to sit and relax with a nice hot cup of your favorite. In the summer I really like their Arnold Palmers. They just started serving grilled cheese to go alongside their menu of pastries.
Coffee is amazing regardless of how you consume it. Iced, cold brew, espresso, latte, regular, it's all great. Limited, but quality, snacks from local bakeries. Cash only which is frustrating because I hardly ever carry any and I really want their coffee!
I freaking LOVE this place! I live in Midwood and whenever we take the kids to Prospect Park, or on our way to the city, we ALWAYS stop at Steeplechase. Awesome staff, equally awesome coffee! Few places like this one left in Brooklyn. AND the owner is a mother of 3 and runs this place like a BOSS! She rules!
This place is right below my apartment; so the convenience factor already gives this place an A+. Their soy mochas are delicious and when I'm working from home I can get amazing internet service here. The crowd is fun and peaceful. So...do you like coffee? I DO! :-)
Steeplechase Coffee is exactly what I need from a cafe and I would pretty unhappy without it in my neighborhood. My favorite out of Cafe Madeline, Lark Cafe, and Qathra. Coffee/bagels/food is great and they even sell nice loaves of bread and Brooklyn ground coffee. I like to sit and work in cafes for a couple hours and you can actually do that there (outlets, reliable free wifi). Depending on the hour of the day, it's not too hard to get seating. They play excellent music that's not obnoxiously loud.
I love Steeplechase! When do you think you will open indoor at partial occupancy, now that many people are getting vaccinated? I saw some cafes have opened indoor recently. I just really love your shop and can't wait to sit down again! <3
Great coffee and pastries for a good price. Friendly, knowledgeable and hard-working staff. Love going there! You can either take your leisure at a table, or take it to go.
Really sweet little shop that seems committed to quietly eating, reading, or other analog pursuits rather than an infestation of laptops (though some are apparent, just not overloaded). Food was tasty, though limited menu. Nice service.
A neighborhood gem. Coffee from Brooklyn roasters (a collaborative blend made just got steeplechase), a friendly and recognizable rotation of barristas, charming Instagram account, and all of that topped off with pastries from notable providers such as Donut Plant. You won't find a better coffee shop this side of Brooklyn.
Steeplechase is a great place to go to relax, get some work done, or read while enjoying delicious coffee. While their menu doesn't have as many flavors/specialty drinks as some, they more than make up for it with their high quality roast. They also have some great pastries (their croissants in particular) and a real tasty grilled cheese. The atmosphere is cozy and chill here, with plenty of seating as well as plenty of live plants to add some ambience. I love to come here to get some work done in the morning and have never had trouble finding a table. The baristas are so friendly, too. Joe and I chat every day and he's always so cheerful (so tip him well!). All in all a great local coffee spot and anyone in the area should give them a visit.
What a beautiful little quaint quiet coffee shop. Nestled into the quiet little tree lined block on the Kensington/PLG border, little comfy little coffee shop offers an excellent variety of truly coffee-centric preparations, like pour-overs, French presses ect. as well as the usual fare. The tastefully curated select bake-goods offers also seem fresh and appealing. All this only further complimented by the small tactful potted plant on each table and tasteful art lined walls. And while coffee at my place is still the best in this city, I will CERTAINLY be coming back to Steeplechase; I found a new favorite!
Im here on a Sunday in January 2023 and I was not asked to charge a minimum of $10 to use my credit card. Perhaps it is gone. Regardless, this is a peaceful place to study and I enjoy the patrons & staff - good atmosphere.
AMAZING BARISTAS! i absolutely love steeplechase. they do coffee sooo perfectly. always playing fire music. the bagels are perfect. i cannot recommend this place enough! i am truly such a big fan. I Hope they make a living wage. Tip heavy my friends. the only con: i buy so many lattes here that i will never be able to afford to buy my own home.
I discovered this cute coffee shop through their sister restaurant (The Lonesome Club) on Instagram. This place is so cozy where you can sit, work on your laptop, and have a nice cup or two of coffee. They don't have a huge selection of coffee and food options, but the prices are very reasonable. I got a large Matcha Latte for only $6.75, which is far cheaper than most places in the area, and it was really good. I loved the overall ambiance. The place is kept clean and the service is great. I will definitely come back the next time I pass through the neighborhood.

Awesome local coffee shop. The brownies are a must
Great local shop with an excellent pourover. Went on a slower Monday and was poured the Banko Gotiti Yirgacheffe from Brooklyn Roasting Company over a v60. Juicy and floral as one would expect. Barista was friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. If I weren't moving out of the city, I'd be a regular.
This place is one of the best coffee shops in Brooklyn hands down. Excellent coffe and fantastic pastries. I'd say they are as good or better than Blue Bottle coffee. They have great hot chocolate too, doesn't have that artificial taste like D&D has.
Wonderful service! Professional, friendly, calm. Great drinks and food. Divided into laptop and laptop-free areas. While I wish there were a little more seating for laptop users, the division actually really adds to the great atmosphere. People staying to work can focus in the back; people there to chat or with children or just in and out can enjoy themselves in the front. Brilliant.

Such an adorable tiny cafe that is a welcome addition to the area. I am not a coffee or tea drinker but their sweets are out of this world. Giant oatmeal raisin cookies that are very filling and not too sweet. If you're looking for a gift for an out of town friend, they have cute shirts for all sizes, too.
This place is great. Great coffee, friendly staff, WiFi, clean, great area. The only reason why I’m taking a star away is because they have a $10 cash minimum. This is problematic for people who really only want a cup of coffee and don’t happen to have cash... it’s very annoying. I have a cash card that gives me $1 discounts on coffee and I can’t use it here.
Staff are very efficient. The line can get long, even so, it moves quickly. I'm a tea drinker, so can't speak to the coffee. Tea is good. Pastries are pretty good. Often visited, much appreciated.
Best coffee and atmosphere of the coffee shops in the neighborhood, but doesn’t open until 8 on weekends. I don’t have the patience to wait until 8 and other spots open at 7, so I rarely wind up at steeplechase. Please open earlier weekends!
A quiet coffee shop. Good for getting work done. Minimal food options, but an adequate coffee selection. Laptop/tablet use limited to tables in the rear of the coffee shop. Cash only.
They ran out of cold brew but they offered me alternative. Amazing ice latte. Great espresso - definitely woke me up!

I go here to study often. A cozy little neighborhood spot for some coffee and quick bite. The staff is always friendly. I do wish they got rid of their $10 minimum for credit card—a few times I had to go somewhere else because I didn’t have cash on me. Nonetheless, it’s a good coffee stop! Edit: 2yrs since my last review, this coffee shop still imposes its $10 minimum for credit card, which is ridiculous. Their explanation that CC companies charge a percentage of every transaction is not a good excuse, even for a small business.

I used to love this place, but it's gotten crowded and the staff less accommodating. I was just there today, hoping to do a little work on my laptop. When I could not get online using the password and set up that has worked for months before. Others were able to get online, but a few of us were not, for no apparent reason. I went to the man at the counter for help. He could not have given less of a crap, implied it was on my end and turned away. I want so badly to support this place, but if this is how I am going to be treated, nevermind.
Cool spot. Ambience is nice. But I and my friends received drinks that were too hot, so all the flavor had been burnt off. So the coffee was meh. It could have been the barista
I came here for French Press coffee, which they do have.. However it's served by the cup from a regular spigot thermos, like drip coffee. You're not provided with a french press at your table. As such, you're a bit at the mercy of how long ago they made the coffee. I found it ok, but not great. After watching them make it, the barista also used too little coffee in the press for my taste as well. It was affordable, however. This appears to be a neighborhood place, but the signs sternly warning against laptop/tablet use on some tables did little to make customers feel welcome.
I love this little spot. Just moved into the neighborhood from Mississippi and was delighted to find this coffeeshop around the corner. I never thought I'd find a croissant tastier than Starbucks', but I was so wrong. These guys know how to make a friggin' croissant, baby!! I was a little annoyed at first about not being allowed to use my laptop at the first few tables, but I kinda get it now. Headed back there again this morning to start my day. I must warn you, however, that if you arrive after 2pm in hopes of getting a wifi connection, forget about it. I can't seem to connect unless it is during the mornings.
Got a really watered-down cup of coffee here today... Hmm.. Used to come here often and never had this issue, but a lot of places are cutting corners these days. Leaving 3 stars because I'll give it another try, but paying 4-5 bucks for a coffee should lead to a full bodied cup with a higher coffee to water ratio... What's going on? PS.. It's annoying trying to explain to random baristas how much cream I prefer... It's time to stop hiding the goods. The bar was still splashed all over with liquid. You're not saving the world by hiding the milk.
Probably my followers know me by now I can't walk by coffee not trying it. I got the Hot lattee +almond milk 8oz $5.70 Aa far as the coffee taste by far not the best I've had. The place in the other hand cozy and clean. I was welcomed. Lots of sitting areas. For the Area i find the croissant to be Expensive. If the coffee will get better. This place will hae good future.
I rarely leave poor reviews and really don’t take any pleasure in doing so, but you guys have gotta know that your matcha is really, *really* bad. I’ve tried it several times now -/ both iced and hot, over the course of about 6 months. Each time has been disappointing. The most recent was two days ago, when I purchased an iced one. I wish I’d taken a photo for reference, but the color of the latte was a dark, “puke” green. (It was clearly old and/or not ceremonial grade.) I knew as soon as the barista handed it to me that it wasn’t going to be pleasant. I forced myself to drink all of it, because I needed the caffeine, and because I hate waste. But I think I’ve given up on Steeplechase for a while. Maybe I’ll check back sometime in the future to see if there’s been any updates to the quality of the matcha. I sincerely hope to find this is the case, because you would make a regular customer out of me! On another note, separate from quality, a few months back my boyfriend and I ordered a hot coffee + matcha to-go, respectively, and my poor bf ended up spilling half his coffee all over his car seat. The barista, in her defense, did try warning him about the fallacy of the lids (or lid-to-cup incompatibility?), as apparently this is (or was) a known issue… To that point, I do hope this gets addressed as well, if it hasn’t been already.
I’m not here to attack the only two coffee shops in Windsor Terrace but seriously, start making designs on the coffee such as flowers or hearts and training the baristas to give exemplary service. Maybe then they’ll increase their tips. As a coffee shop owner out of state it is disappointing to come back to the neighborhood where I was raised unable to enjoy a well presented cappuccino for SEVEN Dollars. It’s 2025, we got this Windsor Terrace. In response to reply: I’ve gotten designs on most hot beverages where places use milk frothers but hey at least you serve in glassware. The days are lovely, the coffees aren’t 🤷
Depending on who is making the drinks, it can be a hit or miss. Options are lacking for bake goods. The space is very clean. Jaded baristas that hold great conversations. Overall an ok spot that I enjoy visiting occasionally.

Far overrated coffee shop. Blant 'French Press' as they call it is a collated American weak coffee. No fresh or 'maison' products, unless you want to eat ripe bananas. Bagels and pastries were offered as the only choice and looked from the day before, at least. And to be welcomed by a uninterested barita with no simpathy either for the dev or the angels in the morning was a true insult to my 19 bucks spent there. No tips and no return.
I end up paying way to much here for coffee that tasted like crap. Your better off going to the deli next store if you want coffee. They have OK pastries though.
Small and laidback local Cafe with the best .5caff breve latte I've had in awhile. I was very disappointed that I found out recently the only way to get a buy 9 get 10th free punch card is by paying with cash. That's a bad idea. They take cards so they should give the punch card to anyone. Why alienate customers. If that's your rule then make your business 100% cash. That I understand. As I told the barista who told me the rule... "Harsh!" Guess I won't be going to Steeplechase Coffee any longer.
Coffee smelled good, and tasted good and strong. SADLY, supervisor slammed me for asking to 'say when' to pour my warm milk into my expresso. She inserted herself between me and the poor worker in process of delivering my cortado. Truly angry was she! I have not returned now for 2 years, and considering giving the place another try. I visit many such shops in NYC, this was truly a disgusting performance for a normal order which should take less than 20 seconds to make the customer happy. NEVER was I so poorly treated!
The staff was incredibly rude and had no knowledge of how to make a coffee. The food was disgusting. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
Bad service, bad actitud from the guy who attended
An impressively mediocre, overpriced coffee shop. If I'm paying nearly $5 for a cup of cold brew coffee, it should probably be cold and not full of recently melted ice. My favorite feature of Steeplechase is that they don't even open until 8AM. The neighborhood deserves a much better coffee shop than this place. A repeated disappointment.

Couldn’t have been worse. Sold me a $5 iced hibiscus tea that is basically ice and two sips of hibiscus. When I asked for less ice or a top off, the barista was actively rude. I hope this place goes out of business.
Turban lady refused to serve me expresso in a regular size cup. She insisted she must give it in a tiny cup. She charged me an extra 50 cents for foam in that tiny doll size cup. And I could not taste or see any foam at all. She also would not let me pay with a debit card so I had to pay with a ton of change. I did not have a nice experience here.
I came here to get some work done today. As soon as I got in I realized that tables had a no laptop sign but I didnt notice that some did not. People were using their laptops so I decided to pull mine out. The ones without the sign, which i didnt notice, were designated to be used for laptops. I didnt realize. until the barista came up to me and told me that I had to move to the other table. okay fine. that was my mistake. Then she rudely told me I had to purchase something if I wanted to stay. I just wanted to get my laptop out and settle in before purchasing something. I had not even been there for more than 5 minutes at this point Then when I tried to buy something, she told me they have a minimum $10 card rule. and its by the owner so my only options were to were to take out cash or leave. so I left. Wont be back.
Was just now served a drip coffee that was cold and weak. I took it back to the counter and explained this to the staff person and he just took my cup from me in silence. I asked whether he had any response and he just shook his head without saying anything. No offer of a fresh cup of coffee or any concern that my experience was subpar. In fact, no words.
Burnt coffee, which is probably expired, definitely doesn’t taste fresh. However, the place is cute and the people are friendly.
