Great vibe and a great breakfast with a unique environment. Definitely recommend.
Nice strong bloody. Scrambled eggs so yummy. Perfect pop in spot.
$8 margarita. yummy food. nice n sweet server.
Issac is the best and highly recommend this spot! Great food and atmosphere ✨
My favorite bar in the city. It’s a hidden oasis with sand on the floor and fun drinks (including large sharables). The atmosphere rocks and it can fit larger groups. Perfect way to start or end a night although I do love it for a daytime adventure when it’s warm. The coconut shrimp is great and service is awesome.
Great service! Great food! Check this bar out!
One of my most favorite places to go in Williamsburg BK. This place is a diamond in the rough. The service is great the atmosphere is great (floors covered in sand hence the name) and the food and drinks are superb!!!! I ordered the whole grouper and my boyfriend ordered the shrimp tacos. we had a wonderful waitress that I kept calling molly and I was wrong everytime lol haha and I still can't remember her name. Anyway the wait staff in the place were a Huge help ALL HANDS ON DECK. It was everything you could ask for in an establishment. Ill definitely be going back to.
Let me tell you… The bartender slayed. The drinks were amazing and pairs with the food made it pure heaven.
Addicted to this place! Sand on the floor. Isaac serving up perfect strong delicious strawberry margaritas. Random old movies playing. Surf boards. My only complaint is that it’s not called Sand Bar - that’s what I exclusively think of it as. Otherwise, it’s perfect
Drawn in by the colorful lights outside the restaurant, we decided to step in. The place is truly unique—it’s the first time I’ve ever seen sand on the floor! The atmosphere feels like an old-school surfer diner. My wife and I had the crab cakes (delicious), the clam chowder (8/10), and the Hawaiian-style hot dog (fantastic). There’s also an extensive cocktail menu. We noticed they have an indoor courtyard, but it was far too cold in December to sit outside. Highly recommended a true hidden gem in the heart of Williamsburg
Super fun place, great frozen drinks, amazing food. The burger was incredible, and my group loved the shrimp sliders so much they ordered a second plate. Really fun atmosphere and the outdoor seating has heat lamps if it’s chilly. Service was great, and accommodated my allergy. The interior was really cool too, very tiki/beach bar complete with sand on the floor inside. Would definitely recommend and go back!
Had to post 5 star review because the new swordfish burger is legitimately one of the best I’ve ever had. Absolutely must try
Surf Bar has become a staple for locals and visitors alike. Whether you want a spot for a fun and funky date or you're with a group of 8 of your friends, it's always a hit. Tiki drinks and flaming punch bowls? Some chips and guac? Keep em comin! It's the vacation destination you didn't know you needed... And it's right in your backyard. (Don't) kick your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes. Relaxing on the patio on a nice summers day or evening, you're guaranteed to get barrelled all the way to shore. Mahalo 🤙
Need to shake off that seasonal depression? Then the ambiance and tiki drinks at Surf Bar are exactly what you need! I stopped in here with some coworkers around HH time on a Friday and did not regret it. Sand on the floor and Christmas lights everywhere- it was great.
What gives this place 5 stars is the absolutely wonderful steak frites...as well done as if one were at a nice French Bistro. And the Happy Hour is not to be missed...especially when it comes to the very decent wine selection! The place really does look like a dive but what a hidden treat!
Love the decor of the place. The sand is a surprise and a nice touch. Feels like your in the islands... in Brooklyn. Drinks are good and the food is really good. Prices are reasonable. They have one of the best Calamari I ever tasted. The frozen mojito was something different, taste good though. Overall nice restaurant.
This place has some really great drinks and amazing food. Love their shrimp tacos!! They even have outdoor seating in the back. They really give you that beachy vibe too because of the sand on the floor - that's right! Its covered in sand to make you feel like your eating on the beach!
Love LOVE!!!! It feels like you’re at the beach! A little oasis in Brooklyn! The service is amazing, all the staff really kind and FAST! The food.. ohhh the food! Highly recommend the shrimp tacos and coconut shrimp! The only complaint is: the bathroom always w a line. This place is amazing I love to come here!!!!
This place is so good and cozy! With a very interesting atmosphere. We were looking for oysters and went there based on google reviews, and yes, their oysters are amazing! Actually, the whole food was super delicious! Service was very good. We highly recommend visiting this place once you are in Brooklyn.
I had Salmon with Jasmin 🍚 with Mango sauce, I think..it was delicious 😋!! I was actually surprised @ how good it was..I'm definitely going back.
I really hate this kind of must tiping polcy, if you have a good service and a good waiter the local should pay to the waiter for the service not obligate to the costumer to do that. Even that said cocktail & service was really good and the themed space was an incredible surf environment in the middle of Brooklyn.
So I found this place while hanging with a friend that only eats seafood. (we googled seafood place close to us and this placed was an option) the ambiance of this place is freaking awesome, the food is delicious, the service is spectacular and the drinks are nice and strong. Caution: The floor is all sand so be prepared lol But I would definitely go back and I would recommend it to anyone who likes to be adventurous. Enjoy
The sand on the floor is such a beautiful sensory experience. Service is wonderful, the bartender is very friendly. Great happy hour too!
This place is dream come true for my wife. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are in somewhere else but NYC. The floors are all covered with sands and walls are all cover with employees picture. (I thought this was very nice) our server recommended us to get a 2-3 appetizer and 2 main courses. We shared Ahi Tuna Poke and smashed avocados. For main we tried clam chowder soup in bread and Grilled Mahi Mahi Burger. Everything was amazing including spicy mayo that comes with Mahi Mahi. Drinks are extremely delicious too. My favorite was Bushwacker!!
The food is absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was a masterclass in flavor, presentation, and creativity. If you're looking for a spot that delivers an extraordinary dining experience, in a beach themed place, this is it.
I was really pleased with this place. Was looking for a spot to eat and randomly showed up here. The vibes were great. The setting is amazing. Be prepared to get a little sand in your shoes ! Food is really good and the service is even better. Highly recommend coming here. I think this is a really good spot to have a simple date. I will most likely come here again.
One of my fav bar in Bedford. I always get mussels and coconut shrimp here. Mussels’soup has a strong garlic flavor which I love eating with the bread comes with the order. Clum chowder comes in the bread is the best that I don’t usually expect for the casual bar. Their cocktails (such as margaritas, mojitos, etc) are very tasty. As you can see of the photos, they have nice sand on the ground and you can always enjoy the summer all year. Their patio is nicely covered in the summer but not perfect for the freezing season. Staffs are very nice and kind. Fast serving.
The waiter/bartender was really sweet. I wanted mint tea and they didn’t have and he definitely made me fresh mint tea. Awesome!! The oysters are to die for, salmon was also great. Will definitely come back. 10/10
This review is long overdue, I've been here several times already and It's always a vibe. The decor is 10/10(Instagram worthy ) The drinks are pretty good. The food is so bomb. The shrimp tacos and guacamole are seasoned well (they server descent portions as well ) just make sure to make reservations especially during brunch hours , they get busy !
Best bar with restaurant in Williamsburg by far. Incredible island atmosphere (sand on the floor) delicious cocktails, wonderful food and friendly staff. Do not pass it by!
Issac was the best server. My boyfriend and I stopped in for dinner today, it was the best fish I had ever in New York. We both finished all our food. We will definitely be back and request Issac.
Stumbled here one day and it was the best decision we ever made, literally a hidden gem, the whole party was blown away by the food that we had to come back the next day. Im happy to say im addicted! I cant wait for the backyard in the warm weather!
A coworker mentioned this restaurant that had the best fish, fries and had sand on the ground and I had to check it out. Their outdoor area feels like you’re dining on the beach. When I initially went in I saw other menu items that caught my eye and was very delicious. Went to a wine tasting walk around the neighborhood then came back to Surf Bar for drinks, fries and the branzino to go. Now when I eat fries it must have sea salt and honey. I’ve never been a whole fish with bones eater before, but that branzino converted me!!!
Where to start?! Aza's service was top notch & he made me a meeean piña colada! All the food was delicious. We ordered lots; crab cakes, coconut shrimp, chicken skewers, the hot dog, & fish sandwich. Everything was delicious, but if you get anything here, GET THE CHICKEN SKEWERS! It's the most tender & flavorful chicken you will ever have... and that dipping sauce... LORDT! This spot is a little gem!
A very unique and chill experience! There is sand indoors and outdoors, and the beer garden is beautiful. The decor is impeccable, and it's easy to feel like you're not in the city. The drinks are huge and affordable, not to mention fun! This is a great place to go with friends for a chill but fun night out.
I had an amazing time on Xmas eve at Surf Bar! The food was quite good— the ceviche was super limey, the guac tasted fresh, and the fries were perfectly crispy. The tiki drinks were so delicious too (and very affordable)! There was also a free raffle w/a drink purchase that was super fun (although I didn’t win). It was the best cozy tropical vibe for Christmas. I’ll be back to try the aloha dog!
This place is like Hawaii in NYC! It literally looks like a surf bar from the outside. Once you step in, it transforms into an island paradise with actual sand on the ground. Sat at the bar and ordered the mango salad with grilled shrimp, Peruvian chicken skewers, the shaka tiki which was a perfectly blended drink. Everything was seasoned to perfection and the shrimp and chicken were perfectly cooked. Server was attentive, friendly and helpful with choices. Definitely returning!
Aza is Amazing and the best! Very accommodating and made amazing drinks. Told us about their new brunch menu which we enjoyed the steak sandwich. We have been coming here for years and always love the atmosphere.
Fun concept to create a beach atmosphere with real sand on the floor, but it was very crowded and loud and rain was dripping through the ceiling. The tropical drinks were really delicious and fun though! And the prices are pretty good, $14 for a nice size blended drink. Everything came out pretty quickly.
The place was pretty empty, only 2 tables seating at the time we arrive, order 2 beers, and one tamarin margarita, margarita was very basic, no tamarin flavor and sour for my personal like, also order, coconut shrimp, they were average, no seasoning on the shrimp either the sauces, also order fry calamari, they were good, but the chicken skewers were AMAZING! also order fresh oyster and they were delicious, little overpriced but freshly good. Service good, but again it was not busy at the moment.
Did not try the food so take the 4star rating with a grain of salt. Vibes and drinks were on point. Server was a little pissed because we had a large group ordering lots of drinks and trying to coordinate paying. So understandable but even so. Good for a quick drink or hanging out all afternoon!
We came in for a late dinner on a Saturday evening. The place was really busy but we managed to get a table immediately. The atmosphere is great, service was very friendly, and the food was good. We wanted to order both types of tacos but they only had shrimp. We also ordered crab cakes, fries, and calamari. The shrimp tacos were really good and the rest was just ok. I would probably only order tacos and drinks if I come back again.
surprisingly pricey for what looks like more of a dive bar than anything else, but equally surprising was the quality of the food, which was genuinely delicious -- i ordered the salmon. drink was okay, i only had one round and tried the hurricane, and wouldn't order it again. but would absolutely come back to try something else.
Me and my Ex would frequent the surf bar since 2016. I hadn't been in a while. On a recent date. I had my Favorite; a frozen mojito #frozenmojito. I can't eat seafood anymore. The last time I was here I could. I had a burger, yeah, a burger at a seafood specialty place. Lol. I love the decor. Sand on the floor, surfboards adorn the ceiling, cabana feel. That 2 mojito,,, oooh weee. I and my date weren't happy with the waitress. She seemed not to be as understanding as I wanted her to be. Kind've a; this is what we have, take it or leave it type vibe. She was a cutie too, smh. Surf is still a Dope venue. I won't hold it against them. But, if you're gonna access a covid tip; make sure the staff is on point always. Y'all need a second bathroom !!!!!
Food Is Really Good. Waiters and Waitress are Friendly. Neighborhood is nice. Drinks Are well made and Strong !! Down side, Hard to find Parking And Way Too Much Sand on the ground , don't wear heels or sandals , if u don't like the sand between your toes. You will definitely have to wash/wipe your feet off when leaving.
Wear some sandals and get the sand between your toes at this surfy tiki bar. Wade into the lively atmosphere, good vibes and great services and admire the collection of the owners retired surf board collection. Had the shrimp tacos, which did not disappoint.
You have to try the shrimp sliders omg it was delicious, I hate mayo but they use something else like tartar whatever i can’t remember but TRY THEM
Crowded but wow what great ten or so tables inside and out. Great help full staff Food was excellent fresh and quick and good portions Recommend the wide variety of refreshment including yummy cocktails (get the yummy gorilla milk) and even matua Sav blanc a nice tropical white wine from New Zealands best wine making regions.
This restaurant literally feels like a beach, there’s sand! Would’ve been 5 star if it weren’t so expensive for small portions. However, the food is delicious. Crab cakes, ceviche, and tuna tartare were all fantastic👌🏼 host was very friendly. Patio in the back has outdoor seating. Bar seats inside (very dark)
Overall a good place to grab a quick bit with some friends, will revisit. Pros The mahi-mahi & tuna burgers were delicious. Flavorful, fresh, and grilled to perfection. The food was served on mini surfboards which complimented the beach like decor (with sandy floors). Cons The restaurant recently reduced their menu and removed the items I selected the restaurant for, (calamari & shrimp) and was even out of umbrellas for their drinks (the yellow cup was even different from other customers).
Dive bar meets tiki bar. I enjoyed everything we ate. Only complaint is i didnt feel that the mussels were worth while, huge shells tiny mussels. We also tried the crab cake, coconut shrimp, steak with sweet potato fries, and salmon. Not bad for Bar food and prices more or less matched the quailty. Cool low key place with sand all throughout the floor of the bar. Must be nice to hang in the back area during the summer. Inside is more dive bar and if you sit in the back during winter you may end up keeping your jacket on.. it gets a bit cold. Outside has a tiki style bar vibe to it. Bathroom reminds feels like you walked into an old rock venue. All in all we had fun and enjoyed ourselves just dont go expecting it to be more upscale then it is.
What a surprise to find a surf bar in Brooklyn! My family loves surfing and beaches so we felt right at home in this quirky restaurant full of tropical goodness. The food was eclectic and cooked to delicious perfection. We loved our time here. Cold outside but very warm and fun atmosphere inside!
such a fun vibe! It honestly felt like a short getaway from the city - good music, chill atmosphere, fun frozen drinks. I didn’t realize there’d be sand everywhere but it totally worked with the concept. There were many seafood options and a fun mix of drinks. The strawberry frozen mojito was amazing, but skip the watermelon one. The tuna tartare was a standout - super fresh and delicious.
Went there for independence day celebration with roommates and friends, we ordered a lot of food each ( some got a little lost on the way but we didn’t have to wait very long to have it) food was really good, I had oysters and mussels and fries, my friends got the mahi mahi burger, the steak frites ( I tried the steak it was phenomenal) the coconut shrimps looked very good as well. We got drinks too, pretty good selection of tiki and regular cocktails. I like that the floor is covered in sand, the music was good. Our server was nice to us knowing how crazy 4th of July can get. Would definitely bring a date back there! Also very good location, close to trains.
Inconsistent. There was a happy hour sign and then there wasn’t. When we asked the server they said it was a management call. Used to be good, I’d say we want to try as to keep as many customer possible. May have been a one off but not great. Would have been a lower rating but our server did the best he could.
Atmosphere is great! Sand on the floor is a cool experience. There are many choices as far as seating. They have seats outside on the back but beware of mosquitoes at night. The staff gave stellar service and they are very attentive. The drinks are tasty and I really like the combination of their drinks. It is somewhat strong but still has a great flavor. As for the food itself, it can be better. The fries with honey and salt is rather disappointing and the seasoning seemed to be all over the place. The burger they serve is somewhat smaller than usual for the price you pay. Overall a cool experience. Would come back for the drinks and ambiance but I'd get the snacks somewhere else
First time here. The ambiance is mellow because we attended during a weekday. The table bench I sat on was not clean but luckily I carry my own Clorox wipes. It was black after wiping down the seat seat and table. The waitress was new but nice and attentive. The food is perfected to consumed after an enormous amount of alcohol. Contactless menus are available
A very different place.... Very low key and no frills, dark and dank inside, total beachy Hawaii vibe including a thick layer of sand on the floor! That threw me off a bit but the drinks we had were pretty good. I had a hibiscus margarita which was pretty tasty and taller than I thought it would be. My sister ordered the rosé and it was peculiar to the point the bartender let us try it before, because they said a decent amount of people end up not liking it. We kinda liked it though. So the service was pretty nice, though it's a very strange kind of place!
We liked it. It’s pretty original and not so overpriced. Ceviche is great. I am not giving all stars because we were on the terrace with my dog ( a very small one serving as emotional support) and she barked once just because she was scared when some people came in and the barman told us very rudely that the dog CANNOT BARK, like if I could make my dog understand that it’s not polite to bark… didn’t like that was of talking to us
I asked for a burger, medium well, the center was completely raw and disgusting. Never again
Absolutely terrible went here 6/22 for some food after a party the food was terrible. Then on top of that left my sunglasses(Dior) at the table called immediately after, was told they had it and were holding it for me only to steal them from me and claim they didn’t find anything when I called back the next day. Disgusting thieves waitress was also terrible. Would not go ever!
There is a patron who is clearly amicable with the staff here who harasses customers. Short with curly hair. When she is confronted - she starts speaking in Spanish to the staff. Clearly they allow this and it's disappointing, don't harass people and it's sad this place allows such belligerent behavior to torment other patrons. Will not return.
Had a great time at first — good drinks and a lively atmosphere. But the night took a turn when I was verbally and physically confronted by a clearly intoxicated woman as I came out of the bathroom. She claimed I had cut the line, even though I had been waiting well before she arrived. It was clear she was friends with the staff and possibly under the influence of something stronger than alcohol. This kind of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated in any establishment, especially when it disrupts paying customers’ experience. I hope management takes steps to ensure that friends of the staff are held to the same standards as everyone else. It really put a damper on an otherwise enjoyable evening.
