Great spot for excellent coffee in redhook, I highly recommend this cozy place. Check out the cool wallpaper in the bathroom!
Great experience, excellent smooth coffee
Lovely neighborhood cafe with amazing financiers et nice lunch options. The backyard is also very nice and cozy
Great little coffee shop with friendly staff and good coffee. Nice selection of quick bites.
Capuccino was one of the best I had in Brooklyn. Nice place, friendly staff. Will be back!
Fast and friendly service, great sandwiches on Balthasar baguettes, other good pastries, everything was tasty and well priced.
I haven't had a bad experience here and I come everyday. Very good and consistent coffee
Excellent cappuccino. It’s much better than others in the city. Highly recommended!
Great place, lovely interior, nice backyard, good coffee.
Best place, best coffee and amazing pastry It’s a must!
Great coffee, been open throughout this difficult time, support this small business
Excellent service by excellent staff. I love their Cortado coffee. 😋😝
Great coffee and nice personnel 😊
Such a lovely little café with excellent coffee, cookies, pastries and quiches. The backyard is inviting and beautifully landscaped. The staff is lovely too!
Hands down the best coffee in Brooklyn - and I am from Italy so I am picky already. The place is super charming, great cakes and pastry selection as well as quiches. Super nice staff!
Recently walked into this place heading to the IKEA red hook area in Brooklyn. I would never write a review about a coffee shop but in this case the service was so crazy good and the food was excellent. Well worth the visit,
LOVE LOVE LOVE. my home away from home. great coffee, amazing and fresh food every day. THE BEST CREW of people working there... and the most lovely garden... (even with heat in the winter) .
A friend from the neighborhood put me onto this spot. I like places with sunny backyards and good espresso. Place has good snacks ,good service and a good vibe .what more do you need when your drinking your coffee
Hot little neighborhood coffee spot. Great place to stop for a quick coffee. Super friendly staff.
Great cappuccino and ambience at the Black Flamingo. Likely the best coffeeshop in Red Hook. Stop by if you’re in the area!
Nice vibe with the dark atmosphere and old family photos. Really really good cappuccino. 10/10 would visit again
Great garden! Lovely place to sit down and spend an afternoon! Great People, GREAT COFFEE what more could you ask for?
Super cool coffee shop and nice pastries to coffee. Small inside but tables opened up pretty quickly.
Great coffee, comfortable atmosphere and tasty scones and pastries most of which are made in house. I live a block away and it's hard not to go here everyday instead of making coffee at home
Delicious sandwiches, coffee and herbal tea. Cozy place to spend time in the morning. And also they have good taste in music.
We had breakfast in this really nice place, cappuccino and espresso of excellent quality almost like in Italy 😉
I love this place. Everyone is very nice, food is very good and coffee excellent. Amazing quiet sunny backyard.
Fun they have a medium roast espresso. Amazing garden. Good music.
Comfortable and low key coffee shop. Friendly staff. Catch a quick break in the garden when you can.
Wonderul cafe in wonderful brooklyn! Will always come and get my iced vanilla latte here. Service is always great but even better when Barista Miranda is on duty! Coffee art expert!
The Black Flamingo has thee best coffee in the neighborhood — dare I think even the borough! The cheddar chive scone is also REALLY GOOD. You also will not go wrong with one of their sandwiches. I tried the Ham and Swiss. It was great with a hot coffee. The perfectly soft bread made it that much better!
Decent espresso & the most charming little backyard! Lots of plants and a few little tables. One of my favorite spots.
Stopped in here before work in Red Hook. I got the most lovely ham and cheese quiche and a latte. Prices are standard for a nice NYC coffee shop, but I did think the orange juice was overpriced. About $8... That being said, I'm sure it's delicious! The quiche was $8 and it was so delicious I'd totally get it again. Just depends on what you're looking for! Staff was very kind and efficient and I'd definitely sit inside sometime in the future. Nice ambience.
Great coffee, even better service. I worked a film shoot close to here and had to run back and forth getting client coffees all day. The Black Flamingo had my back! They kept the coffees coming, and they were all amazing. Thanks so much! Will come back when I’m in the neighborhood.
Super cute place with friendly staff and cozy but spacious backyard. We were exploring Red Hook and stoped by Black Flamingo to get coffee. It looked so cool inside that we decided to sit in their backyard. We also had conversation with Ivana, she was very friendly and nice to us.
One of my favorite cafes in Redhook. Great service and friendly people. Awesome coffee and back patio to lounge at if it's not too hot or too cold. Overall very mellow atmosphere.
really nice drip coffee and atmosphere ☕️🌿
Omg the savory croissants are so yummy. Great space and staff are great vibes too. Will come back for more for sure. Thx!
I just went here for a chai latte because fort defiance is closed😭 please someone who works here taste one of your chai lattes before selling them for $6. I tossed mine it was watery and flavorless. You’re super friendly and great people though!
Good coffee. Not burnt brown water so many places overcharge for. Not a lot of food choices. Pastries, some premade sandwiches and such. Its more sbout coffee and chilling. Music choices skew 70s. Wifi is solid. Plenty of outlets and a back patio as well with its own wifi.
Their cappuccino and lates are to die for! Super friendly, classy ambiance, and a wide range of pastries; you don’t want to miss this pristine coffee shop in Red Hook.
This is a very cute cafe in Red Hook serving delicious coffee and espresso beverages. The savory breakfast options and quaint outdoor patio make it distinguishable. Will return.
very clean , warm welcome and stay relaxed with your coffee there
Visited before the cruise for a quick bite to tide us over till we got through lines to board.
What a gem of a place! There is no other coffeeshop in this neighborhood to hang out in (part of the charm of this seaside community)and this cafe is such a wonderful part of it. I love it here.
There are not many places to enjoy a coffee in this charming bucolic little seaside town. This cafe was a welcome little stop with lovely treats and a warm and welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. I love it here!
This is a great little place with the best food and atmosphere. We use it when on the Queen Mary 2 and doing a round trip. We are forced to get off the ship for immigration formalities and not allowed back on for a couple of hours so get lunch here. The garden at the back is a great place to eat and has good WiFi Internet access.
As a girl from a small town in Ontario, Canada, I feel we need more small cafés like this one. Food 10/10, Coffee 10/10, Atmosphere 10/10, staff 10/10. I definitely recommend this coffee shop for anyone visiting Red Hook area in Brooklyn!
What a delicious treat for a brunch spot in Redhook, Brooklyn. My kids and I were coming into Brooklyn searching for a brunch spot, coming out of the battery tunnel and this wonderful restaurant popped out on my Google search. Thankfully it did because it was a treasure to have been found in such an industrial area. The restaurant itself is so historic and brings the 1920s vibe with old photos, bar counter and table setting. The beautiful outdoor space is a hidden gem in itself, a must see in the spring and summer months. Their quiche- we had the spinach mushroom and spinach artichoke were phenomenal. We also had the square croissants- spinach artichoke and ratatouille and goat cheese. I am def making this my summer hang out with the kids to enjoy the hidden gem in Redhook, Bk.
Really good coffee, especially if you like oat milk.
Ticks all the boxes for a coffee bar and has a great garden in the back.
It feels like a set piece. Nothing is actually any good, the staff are…awkward…but it is there. And I work nearby so sometimes I need a back patio to hide in for a beat. It’s like what’s become of Red Hook in general: increasingly whitewashed, overpriced, and honestly mediocre. Yet another example of why I spend as little time down here as possible.
Great place for coffee. However, it's quite small with not too many seats.
Really nice coffee here, medium roast is very smooth. Some of the staff aren’t that friendly but everything else is great.
Food is excellent and back garden such a oasis. Coffee very old skool so depends on your taste.
I love this spot in Red Hook as it has a cute little back garden filled with greenery. The coffee and baked goods are pretty good too.
Decent place to sit around and talk about hipster concerns if that's your thing. I just needed a caffeine boost to go. But nice place to chill if I ever find myself in Red Hook with a friend. Deducting one point because there were no flamingos flapping around on the day I visited...was really hoping to see the flamingos.
The staff was very timely and the food was nothing short of absolutely delicious, in fact flawless. We devoured the ham & cheese croissant (rivaled by a handful of gourmet comparisons!), the apple and cheese scone was perfectly fluffy, and moist yet flaky, with the outside layer of crunch like a crust, the chocolate croissant was somewhat small but also crafted like a pro. The barista was super sweet and polite, but the cashier was stand offish and curt which is the ONLY reason why I am omitting the final star. I am without hesitation going back though for the drinks and the food as well as the options they offer, the eco aspect is always a plus I'm grateful they opted for non-paper eco straws 😊 I'm happy to include photos next time bc the food and coffees disappeared in our hands.
Wish I could do 5 stars, but their chai is just not good - very bitter and not rich in flavor. Otherwise the place is awesome! Regular coffee is pretty good, beautiful interiors and lovely outdoor space.
Coffee was definitely a boost to your day if you need a caffeine booster! The croissants were dry and could use an upgrade. Overall good experience and will visit again when in the area 👍
Good spot in Red Hook for all those IKEA trips. Feels very much like a European espresso shop but the drip coffee — their own panoamerican blend — is good as well. This place is very much hipster pretentious meets construction worker. Worth a visit.
The cafe was very cold, however I enjoyed the nice lever machine.
Stopped in here to have a quick bite before continuing my day in Red Hook. I had the Cheddar, Chive Scone, which was good. (Didn't really seem like a Scone or a Biscuit, more like a combo, either way the taste was good). The guys working their were nice. I liked the space. It had family portraits on the walls and some seating. I ate my Scone out in the backyard, which is not big but it is very pleasant. The prices are good. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly.
Coffee is decent, the pastries are delicious. But the service is horrible.
Standard NYC coffee shop run by people who have apparently never been inside a coffee shop. Why do you order and pay in the same spot before even having a chance to see the menu? Not even the pastries are visible from the register. Ordered a cafe au lait but not much au lait which explains why the lady behind me requested extra.
Lovely European atmosphere in a convenient Red Hook location, with good coffee and pastries. I've made a handful of visits and the staff consistently tends to be pretentious in stark contrast to Red Hook's humble community spirit. It's a shame considering the location and how beautiful they've made the space!
Stopped in here to wait for a bus after visiting PioneerWorks. It was closing in on the end of the day, so my coffee and croissant were just ok, but it is a beautiful little shop with great service. Not sure if I'll make it out here again, but I'd be happy to give them another shot if I could get there earlier for something fresh.
I really want to love it here, I’ve been in the area enough times over the past couple years and always give this spot the benefit of the doubt that maybe the cappuccino will be ok this time, but truly I’ve been underwhelmed with milk that has been frothed for way too long that it takes 5-10 minutes before you can drink your coffee without burning your tongue… It’s a nice place with nice people, but I’d recommend to the shop folks to stop putting the milk under the steam wand for more than a minute 🫠
Meh. The lemon pound cake was meh. The artichoke croissant square was doughy, a little dense and somewhat greasy. Not horrible but not worth the 12 bucks for those 2 items. Didn’t get the coffee so maybe that’s the winner here and not the food.
Very rude service, racially profiling us. The two white women at the counter were extremely rude and unfriendly.
If you order a drip coffee you get a free refill. If you order a more expensive cappuccino and ask for a top up of drip you have to pay full price for a drip. You also have to interact with millennials.
Service sucks. Wasn't even busy, and the female cashier was speaking to me curtly as though she had better things to do and would rather be somewhere else.
Love the coffee, I do have to admit, but the service is lacking. Being a local resident for over 35 years, I love to support small local businesses. With that being said, it's sad how one can be overlooked and passed over in this place. We all spend the same money, we should all get the same service. Apparently they judge books by their cover in this place!!!
