One of the best meal I had in a long time. Very healthy and tastes unique. Their Maccaronie Shrimp is delicious. Very unique appetizers. A must visit place in Williamsburg

Great food and wine spot! We came for a Saturday lunch and shared the cured halibut (so light and fresh), the sweet corn salad with prosciutto (nice but our least favourite of everything), tomato tartine on sourdough (really good), grilled peppers with stracciatella (great), mussels with nduja (probably one of the faves) washed down with some sparkling riesling and rose. Service was quick and attentive too.

James Murphy’s Michelin started wine bar. Excellent edited menu for lunch and dinner. Go for the amazing Ham & Cheese lunch sandwich and beautiful salads. Everything is delicious with top notch ingredient quality and superb service. Great wine offering, hip intimate interior space with a well orchestrated, sunny outside dining situation.

We happened to be in the area, took a chance, and were lucky to be seated right away. Phenomenal meal. Outstanding service. Cool/comfortable/dark place.

[One star ⭐️ Michelin] This minimalist but cosy join focus on small shareable plates with lots of rare to find organic wines to sample. Menu change frequently but love their beef tartare and pumpkin pasta. 👍🏻

My favorite wine bar in nyc!!! The whole crew here is so welcoming and friendly! Wine selection is top-notch. Food is even better!! I always order another focaccia on the side. Arguably the best focaccia in town. Just look at the texture🤤

As most people who visit the four horsemen, I had this place hyped up in my head for weeks. I had tried walking in a few times with no luck, and so when I finally went… I made sure to enjoy myself. It’s pretty hard to find any accurate description of the menu because it’s always changing, however, there is a good rule of thumb to follow when visiting. If you’re looking to enjoy yourself; go crazy everything is phenomenal. If you are playing it safe; get the house bread, a pasta dish, a meat and a fish. You can’t go wrong. Hope you enjoy. If you want to play it safe

Fantastic! We had 5 dishes and 5 different glasses of wine for lunch, and each one was superb!! Service could be a bit better, had to wait a few times to get out order taken and there was definitely a lack of enthusiasm, but it didn't hinder our experience.

One of the best wine bars I've visited in NYC. And the review is based on the whole experience I had at The Four Horsemen especially as someone who knows very little about wine. I often am intimated by a lot of wine bars because I do not like being taught about what I should taste from the wine and what wine SHOULD be paired with the food. The experience at The Four Horsemen is none of that. But first, let me start with their amazing hyper-seasonal food menu. When a lot of wine bars are only providing mediocre food, food at The Four Horsemen is just absolutely amazing and unique. My favorite dishes included the fried chicken with tomatoes and toasted garlic on top and the wagyu short ribs. The chicken was just so juicy inside and I liked the savory and sour flavor. The short ribs was lying in a bed of crispy rice. The crunchiness of the rice added more texture to the beef. The dish also came with pine nuts and pickled raisins, adding more nuttiness and sweetness to the beef. Their burrata cheese dish was more than your ordinary prosciutto or tomato and burrata dish. The braised leeks went well with the burrata - I def agree that paying for bread is a bit off but their house-made bread tasted great. On the wine side, we made it clear that we don't have much knowledge about wine and the server was very patient with helping us understand the wine he picked for us. I can't say I know better about the wine after the dinner at The Four Horsemen but I def feel like I'd spend more money at The Four Horsemen just for wine they pick for us. It's safe to say that whoever plans to go there can trust the staffers there for wine selections. As I mentioned, the people at The Four Horsemen are the best and I enjoyed the service and the vibes at the restaurant too. Oh yeah, do not forget to save some room for desserts :)

What a great restaurant! Felt welcome from the secound we came in! They were running a little bit behind on our table, so we were seated in the front with a complementary glass of rose while we were waiting. The restaurant is small and intimate with a stunning vibe. Great music in the backround with an awesome view of the kitchen. Food was absolutely great, and we shared the nori fritters, scallop, the artichokes, skate wing and a lovely dessert. Everything tastet great, and would have loved to taste the rest of the menu as well. Servers and somm's are really nice, service minded and knowledgeable, and we got a great wine pairing for our dishes. We stubled across this place last year and was lucky enough to get a spot at the bar and shares a small plate. This year we had a reservation, and I will make sure we have one every time we visit the City!

Edmon and Molly (bartender) were absolute gems. Not only was the ambiance incredible but the staff elevated our experience to a whole new level. And Molly guessed which wine our group would like and absolutely nailed it. 10/10 if you can even get in here

Finally made it to this amazing place! It’s very tough to get reservation. Booked this a month in advance. Their menu is selective and we ordered most of the items. Servers will guide you on what to order and if the food is served cold or hot. They have an amazing selection of wines, so pair yours with ease. Small cozy place with bar seating availability. Must try the ham sandwich!! That was the best for me.

One of the best meals of the year. Low key spot that has bar seating for walk ins. Went at 1030pm and it wasn’t as crowded. Every dish was stellar and the menu rotates seasonally. The Spanish mackerel and toffee pudding dessert were my favorite bites. The Mineral plus Chenin blanc recommended by the staff was a touch too sweet but refreshing and a good drink.

Went for a late lunch on Saturday. The wine was great and our server was really knowledgeable. The tuna was one of my favorite dishes I’ve ever had!

Had the loveliest lunch today. The wagyu/blue cheese combo blew my mind!!!! ❤️‍🔥 Staff is lovely, fun and knowledgeable. Definitely excited to come back for dinner!

What a fantastic restaurant! Everything was so so good, the gnudi were out of this world, I’ve been obsessed since I had them. The staff was great, friendly and professional, very good wine list, the desserts are nastily good if that means anything. We really had a great time there. Also I want to highlight that even though it’s not the cheapest place I think the price is justified and I ended up paying less than I imagined (while eating a lot). My only note would be: please add the possibility to get a bread refill for like 3$ without having to pay for the butter (which comes down to 10$).

Got lucky to find a spot without reservation. The food was great and the wines are absolutely incredible! The staff was very nice and recommended some options. The music was very good and I used Shazam almost the whole dinner.

Delicious and unique sharing plates and lively, intimate atmosphere. The melon and chili oysters were unexpectedly refreshing and the wagyu crostini and pavlova felt familiar but adventurous. I really appreciated the wine recommendations and had fun exploring new wines!

Absolutely fantastic experiences, the food, the service and the vibe! We loved the rotating menu. Although it was only a short list, less is more, especially when the seasonal ingredients are used! Our favorite was the tomato tartine from the lunch menu, sliced juicy tomato on top of a toasted seeded sourdough. It looked so simple, but the secret aioli sauce in between made me almost tearing right after the first bite. Sweet corn salad was also interesting when mixed with marcona almonds. Sweet, creamy and crunchy all went well with prosciuttos. Stripped bass was perfectly cooked too, tender meat and crispy skins. Capers, tomatoes, basil and olives were mixed together and made the fish extremely flavorful! Great execution!

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. And I loved that it was a fish and vegetable forward menu. It was surprising to not see a beef dish listed, but that also says a lot about the confidence coming out of the kitchen and the values. Trust the staff for wine pairings. You won’t be disappointed.

Worth all the hype and trouble to grab a reservation- everything was impeccable. Super interesting & unique wine selection, and unforgettable small plates (LOVED the squid skewers and brown butter lobster with poached egg).

Blown away!! That's all I can say. I was blown away by the four horsemen. I knew they were known for wine, so I expected that. But, the food is perfection as well. This hip yet inviting Brooklyn wine bar has changed the game. A novel of a wine menu, but don't worry the staff will guide you. Speaking of the staff. So helpful and efficient. Then the food. Every dish was great. I don't think you can go wrong. Everything is fresh, seasonal, and made expertly. The trout was my highlight, closely followed by the pork chop. Also Tokyo turnips were impressive. I could go on and on but why? Just go and try it!

Tasty and inventive dinner! Blown away by the green tomatoes with hazelnuts and shimichi togarashi, and the Spanish mackerel. Fish was cooked perfectly. Everything was so good, you can’t go wrong! Dessert, a cherry clafoutis, was also amazing. Resos are needed, good luck to all those trying to get one!

The best meal we had our whole trip. It’s not cheap, but everything was so delicious and the service was fantastic. I love asking for recommendations and had lots of questions about American wines (we drank a Texan Chardonnay) and the staff at the four horseman were super knowledgeable and helpful.

Wonderful vibe with very inventive dishes with fresh ingredients. Food is light yet flavorful. Loved all the seafood dishes - monkfish liver, trout, tuna. Great orange wines too

Excellent meal all around! We walked in for a late lunch / early dinner and there was a table available. Ordered several dishes and dessert and everything was great across the board. This is a really special restaurant; I know it’s impossible to get a Resy but if you can take a chance on a walk in I highly recommend it!

Four Horsemen was such an amazing place for brunch. We got there as soon as it opened and it was pretty cozy and intimate. The vibe was Japanese/European. Everything was so delicious! Also had a great bottle of natural wine. Good price for it too, $40! Want to come back soon

R
Rovik Robert

Walked in for Sunday dinner and was able to grab wine at the standing wall counter for the first bit before getting a table 30 minutes later. wine selection is definitely interesting and worth exploring with the team. Food is interesting but ultimately small plates despite the price - expect a tasting of unique flavors and ingredients!

J

Came highly recommended from a friend and did not disappoint. The lunch menu is pretty good value and every course was better than the last. The tuna was a sort of vitello tonato but with the tuna as the veal and it was fresh but salty at the same time and perfectly put together. The mussels had a spicy sauce and soaked bread that set up the next course of deep umami gnudi perfectly. Wagyu was perfectly prepared and the panna cotta was perfection. Great selection of wine by the glass and a really lovely vibe.

Wine was excellent. Food was just as good. All of the dishes I tried were refreshing and full of flavour. The tuna with sesame crust was buttery and it was my favourite dish. Ravioli with squash and the gnocchi fritter were delicious. I just wished I ordered more bread and butter

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Great ambiance and vibe. Menu changes seasonally but you can expect every dish to be consistently high quality. Reservations are tough to come but worth the hassle/walk-in for bar seating!

Gorgeous Saturday afternoon lunch. The wine list is superb and today’s lunch menu was intriguing, though our favorite part was mopping up various sauces with thick slices of toasted bread (absolutely worth ordering!). Service was incredibly knowledgeable and warm without pretension, making an easy afternoon. An excellent experience overall!

Went for lunch and will definitely be returning. The ambiance is unreal and the thoughtful details are something I definitely appreciated. The speaker system, the lighting, silverware, etc. the service was great and the wine & food was too. We got the rice and the wagyu and it was delicious. Along with the arugula salad and the mussels. Everything is top quality; you can taste how fresh it is. Only thing I’d change is the portion sizes. Little small for me or else this place would be a perfect 10.

Z

Been here a few times and every single time this place impresses. Great for date night, a fancy night out with a friend, or a place to impress a family member. Most recent experience ordered a lot of the menu. Must haves were the warm bread, the Bruchi Pasta, and the Heirloom Tomato toast. Could’ve done without the marbled potatoes. The tuna, chicken, and squash blossoms were all pretty delicious but not must haves for the meal. Wines also are delicious, particularly great selection of natural reds. Service always amazing and atmosphere makes you feel like “you’ve made it”. Great time.

The four horsemen was the such a delightful experience. The food was out of this world delicious, the pairings and flavors were just divine. The wine list was impressive and the service was 10/10. Will definitely be returning! A definite MUST go to if your in Brooklyn!

Five star experience. Food was outstanding and you can feel the level of detail put into every dish. Also loved the wine by the glass and non alcoholic offerings. We will definitely be back 😁

Food was incredible. Hard to pick my top dish I had because everything was too good. A bit pricey for the size of the portions in my opinion. Classic tuna Dish, fried chicken, burnt cheesecake, trout special, heirloom tomato toast

If you set aside the hype surrounding this restaurant, you’ll likely have a great experience dining here. I visited for lunch with such high expectations but I quickly put them aside and simply enjoyed the experience as it was. Overall, everything was delicious and I have no complaints.

Great find, delicious food (menu changes daily/ weekly). The fried chicken was next level. We also had the celery salad and potato bites. We sat at the bar and enjoyed every bite, there’s also a long wine list for great pairings. The staff is very helpful. The inside of the restaurant is a bit small, and has a classy/romantic vibe. There’s outdoor seating in the front as well.

After many random nights of trying to walk in and get a seat, we finally managed to get one where we had to wait less than 20 minutes on a Wednesday night. While we waited, the hostess at the front was super nice and led us back to nightmoves(?) next door for a drink and to now wait in the cold. Before we knew it, our table was ready. We sat at the bar. It was packed and the vibe is low key pretentious tbh (from guests, not servers) but the food met the high bar. - warm bread (5/5): everything you want bread and butter to be. - yellowfin tuna (5/5): that sesame crust was bomb. Just a great, unique delicious plate. - salad (4.5/5): refreshing, well balanced - the squid (4.5/5): quite the statement dish. This was actually quite large. Perfectly charred. Didn’t love the type of peppers that accompanied it but overall a very well prepped dish. - ricotta gnudi (5/5): these were pillows of ricotta and I would definitely order this again. Quite rich. - toffee pudding (5/5): save room for dessert! This was surprisingly delicious. Loved the sweet and salty combo. I found myself spooning every last drop of this. The only thing I found slightly disappointing was the wine, honestly the ones tried were good but considering they are known for its wine, I didn’t really find the ones I tried too interesting. Was it worth the wait and effort to come dine here? I gotta say that it was. The food was just very solid and the ambiance felt like I was in someone’s home. Next time, as hard as it can be, I’ll try to make a reservation ahead of time or come again during an off hour.

I wasn’t sure what to expect-but I’m Extremely happy I dined at The Four Horseman Entering the small establishment you are greeted with a nice doorman/host, who takes you into a small but romantic space. Details were perfect when decorating-from the original floor to the walls and art-mood lighting and light jazz on the speakers, the restaurant is very charming and romantic. The staff is meh-waitress seemed uninterested-some staff were wearing baggy long shirts/jackets that don’t work well in tight spots. As we were a table of two sitting in the middle-every time they walked by their tails of the shirt would hit us and our table. If you’re going to wear a very baggy loose shirt-tuck it in-to prevent this annoyance. No one seemed to be pressed for time-taking orders-fresh drinks-etc. the doorman stated when the next reservation was-as a warning not to linger more than 1.30 hours, but the waitstaff seemed clueless to this as it was she and her absence that kept us there almost 2 hours. Mind you-we were enjoying the wine, food, and conversation so we didn’t mind, except we had show tickets and were almost late. The waitress had an air of royalty attitude- better than us-as we are lucky she would visit our table and take our order. This is how she made me feel. Food is as delicious as beautifully plated. The atmosphere and food stole the show-the staff needs training-I’m not going to remove a star from the review for the staffing issues as the restaurant as a whole-and their food-is stellar. However, staff review is 2 stars. Came back for lunch when I was back in town-;lunch service was much better and the food was delicious, again.

An EXPERIENCE you can’t miss. Went for dinner on a Thursday. Our waitress was very well versed on the menu and all of her recommendations were delicious. Had one of the 2 Orange wines (we tried both and were both great!).

fantastic experience. from the food to the atmosphere to the service. it was all incredible. we went for lunch on a saturday and it was the perfect start to the day. all the food was amazing but the mussels stood out. the wax beans salad was phenomenal too - so fresh and perfect for the summer. the fish melted in you mouth and the peach clafoutis for dessert served an unexpected but welcomed hint of basil. fantastic. can’t wait to go back for dinner! oh an ofc the wine was amazing - will be back for a bar seat soon.

We are able to walk in when they just open. Veal is a must!!! So tender and juicy and interesting flavor with the soy egg yolk. Also love the oeuf mayonnaise and shrimp rice! Don’t like the bean soup…

The best restaurant in Brooklyn, without contest. From the wine list to the staff to the ambience to the interior design to the music to the cuisine, T4H is truly exceptional.

A perfect meal. Went for lunch. On arrival we discovered our flight home that afternoon had been cancelled and rebooked 2 hours earlier which wasn't leaving us much time to have the long relaxing lunch we had hoped for. We notified our server and she said "I got you" and had us gone in 60 minutes. In that 60 minutes tho was the best meal I've had in a long while. A perfect array of dishes (we almost ordered the whole menu), a fantastic list of wines by the glass (I put myself at the mercy of our server who clearly knew what she was doing) and after the 4th glass of outstanding wine she poured me the best amaro I've ever had in my life. The cherry on top was that they played Stereolab's Dots & Loops from start to finish which is a personal top 10 album so needless to say I was in heaven despite knowing I was about to rush to Laguardia to catch a flight. Will absolutely be returning! Thanks again to the staff for making it so great.

One of the best meals I’ve had in recent months, I’d give this place six stars if I could. Not an easy restaurant to get into but once you do, you’re in for an incredible meal! Great space and friendly service. In terms of dishes there wasn’t a single miss. Standouts included a grilled squid, Manila clams with some amazing bread to soak up the sauce, and an excellent fried chicken. I really love the chef’s use of spice with a few dishes having a nice little kick to wake up the taste buds. They also have an excellent wine list with some interesting offerings. I can’t wait to return!

absolutely love it here! the food is incredible, the menu changes often, and the wine is top-notch. the corn agnolotti is out of this world. the pavlova was perfect. great spot for a light lunch, come for dinner with a couple people and order a bunch of the small plates to share.

very much enjoyed our meal at four horsemen last week. after joining the waitlist on resy, we were able to snag a table for dinner a day in advance. score! the crispy mackerel with aioli and yuzu broth and the garlicky ramp rice were absolute standouts for us. such a fun and cute place to share small plates with a friend or two. our server was great and everyone worked really well together. lovely wine list and the staff is extremely knowledgeable on the wines. thank you to the team and bravo!

Unbelievable experience at The Four Horsemen. Nearly perfect in every way. Food, service, and wine all incredible. Sam was more than happy to discuss wine options and offer thoughts and recommendations! We got almost everything from the menu during our lunch, and loved every dish. Particular highlights were the Cod Fritters, Celery Salad, Ricotta Gnudi, and Sesame Panna Cotta. We will absolutely be back.

M

Had a great experience for lunch here. Didn’t have a reservation so walked-in on a Sunday morning and was seated in ~5-10 minutes at the bar. The food here is small-bites, higher price and higher quality but worth it IMO for a Michelin star experience. The gnudi, cod fritters, and fried chicken we ordered were all cooked wonderfully and very high quality. My favorite was definitely the fried chicken, it was crispy and well-seasoned on the outside and super juicy and flavorful on the inside as well. The sun-dried tomato gave it an extra flavor too. The menu changes everyday so your personal dining experience may depend on what’s on the menu that day, but for me personally I had a great experience at Four Horseman and will say it’s one of my favorite upscale places to eat in NY. Also, would definitely recommend making a reservation if you want to be at a table and not the bar, as sometimes I think the wait for the bar can be ~1-2 hours.

I am still confused by some of the recent negative reviews. I “walked in” at around 5:45pm tonight (Monday), put in my name and got a text about an hour and a half later that I had a spot. I expected this so I walked around a bit and went up the street to Rude Mouth (opened in December by Ava (wine alum)) and had some delicious wine. I was solo so I only had the spring greens salad with picked ramp, fried Spanish mackerel special w aioli and a lemon yuzu sauce (so crispy, so much flavor) and the cheesecake w prunes for dessert. Blaze (sp?) was helping me at the bar and recommended the perfect pairings including a delicious Spanish Vermouth that could have easily been poured over the cheesecake at the end. Everyone was nice, the others at the bar were respectful, the music was fun and the right volume. Really a truly lovely experience overall! I’ll be back with friends so I can try more next time :)

We loved our dinner here. They treated us really well despite being late (Brooklyn traffic) food was all excellent and the atmosphere was buzzing. We saw many people sitting there over 2 hrs, they don’t push anyone out, really good for a date night. It is a bit cramped but I like the decor. Once again the restaurant is small, like many nyc restaurants but I enjoyed nonetheless. If you can get the reservation come quickly. It became one of our favorites instantly. My favorite dish was the rock shrimp rice.

M
Michael Highsmith

A totally phenomenal and surreal experience. My son who lives in Manhattan, had reached out to one of his colleagues who helped us secure a very, very difficult reservation. From the minute we walked in to the minute we walked out we were singing its praises and just kind pinching ourselves for how good it was. The vibe was surreal. When we first walked in, it was so energetic and lively, and they were playing Black Sabbath throughout the restaurant. That was surprising to me, but it totally worked. The volume was loud, but we found out later that one of the owners had designed a speaker system in placement that was targeted to each person individually. It was interesting that even though the music was popping, I wear hearing aids had no problem hearing my son and my wife as we dined. Our server, Monet, was was a pleasure. She was totally engaging, professional, attentive, and just took us on a journey. She asked if we had any allergies or dislikes then took a sort of journey. She would bring at least three different wines for us to try to proceed each dish deftly matching the wines to the dishes she was about to bring. Everyone of them were perfect. The menu changes daily, depending on what fresh ingredients and produce the chef can get. Each one of us ordered a different dish and passed it around. Totally off the charts! So creative, imaginative and delicious. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tiny spot known for his extensive wine list and ever-changing (short) menu. We started with the bread and clams which pairs perfectly together - thanks to the suggestion of our waitress. Next we had the green tomatoes dish which was our favorite by far as it was packed with so much flavor and seasoned to perfection. We finished with the Golden Rice topped with Uni which was delicious as well. Highly recommend this Michelin star spot for a date night! *Resys are a must unless you get there right at 5pm and get a bar or window seat

Finally getting around to writing this, but The Four Horsemen really lived up to the hype. The place is super cozy and welcoming. Our server was awesome and gave us great wine recs that perfectly complemented the food. Everything we ate was seriously delicious—you can tell they put a lot of thought into every dish.

I had a wonderful experience here! I walked in spontaneously after hearing great things about this spot and was absolutely thrilled by the experience. The menu changes often, and everything we tried was a culinary delight. Each dish offered something unique and memorable. I definitely recommend visiting this place! The highlight for me was the chocolate sorbet at the end—it was to die for! It tasted like a rich, thick chocolate pudding with a touch of olive oil and salt, creating the perfect combination.

The four horsemen has to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve been to this year. Everything was exquisite from the presentation to the music. But all the credit has to go to our Bartender Will; his knowledge of wine and bitters and amaro is renowned with some of the best in the game. Sit at the bar and thank me later

everything was delicious (although deep fried mackerel wasn’t out favourite, it had a very fishy taste) and this place absolutely deserves the hype. also we went without reservation, i got in line at 4:45 (saturday night) to put my name down for a group of 3 and we were seated at 7:30, so it is definitely possible.

exceptional. dare i say one of the best meals ive had in my life. from start to finish every bite and every sip is so well thought out, so stunning and so so delicious. complicated flavours served in a non pretentious setting, laid back sunday lunch in the best restaurant in brooklyn. life changing stuff.

The Four Horsemen - finally 😊 My husband and I have been devoted LCD Soundsystem fans for years, so the fact that James Murphy co-founded this place has always made it feel like a small dream waiting to happen. We’d been postponing it for weeks, as life has a way of reshuffling plans, but this time my husband said, 'This is your birthday and that’s it. We’re going.' I agreed ;) The restaurant itself is small, understated, and effortlessly elegant. The interior has that kind of simple chic that feels authentic: warm wood, soft light, no pretense. We didn’t have a reservation but decided to take a chance, and after waiting about thirty minutes, we got a table right after 5:20 pm The menu is tiny, almost minimalist, but every dish feels deeply considered. We weren’t too hungry, so we ordered a few small plates and a bottle of wine, saving room for dessert and hoping for a candle later. And the food… oh, the food. I’m not sure words can do it justice. Every bite was a perfect balance of acid, sweetness, and texture. I’m from wine and vinegar country, so I truly appreciate the taste of acidity and here, I finally found a place in New York that speaks to my palate. Their flavors don’t fade the moment you swallow; they linger, evolve, and make you think. I couldn’t help but notice almost everyone around us was ordering their famous warm bread, it looked absolutely divine. But since I bake my own bread at home and had already had a fresh loaf that morning, we decided to skip it this time. Still, it clearly seemed to be the must of the evening, and I’ll definitely try it on our next visit. The wine list is impressive. We chose a French white that was absolutely balanced, bright, and beautifully alive (and no headache after!). And the desserts… I’m still dreaming about the passionfruit cake, so light, tangy, and joyful. I was especially happy that nobody from the staff sang 'Happy Birthday.' ❤️ As for the staff, 'perfect' doesn’t even begin to describe their service. They have that rare ability to make you feel both taken care of and completely at ease. The atmosphere, the music, the people, the vibe: 10 out of 10, or maybe 100 out of 100. To Be Continued :))

Michelin star wine bar? Yes pls! But people come here for the food. Impossible to snag a resy but worth waiting for a walk in spot at lunch or before dinner service. Vibe cozy and cute. Food was amazing! Small menu but basically every dish was a hit. Also the wine selection was well curated. Verdict: recommend and will return!!

Can't wait to return. Everything was incredible, especially the oeuf mayonnaise- which is forever engrained in my memory as one of my favorite bites anywhere. Queued up 30 minutes before opening and the line filled up FAST

One of my favorite meals in NYC this year. Every dish was a dream. We ordered the oeuf, green tomatoes, fennel salad, tartare, mushroom toast and rainbow trout. Latter two were our favorites. The passion fruit tart dessert was magical. The best part? The wildly inventive wine list that paired perfectly with every bite. Service was great and homey, intimate setting was wonderful. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion.

Absolutely fantastic meal that I will remember for a long time Every dish was great. The flavors and quality of food were memorable bite after bite. It was the best beets and steak tartare that both me and my husband ever eaten The shrimp and seafood rice also exceptional. The service was fast friendly and seamless. Last but not least the dessert was as good as the meal. We are still talking about the restaurant this morning and how good it was. Will we will return if we can manage to be lucky enough to get another reservation!!!

Four Horsemen feels like stumbling into a very well kept secret that somehow never tries to impress you… and still does. I decided to try getting in without a reservation and luckily they thoughtfully keep bar and window seats available for walk-ins. The best approach is to line up right when the kitchen opens, or wait until the initial 5pm dinner rush tapers off and secure a seat at the bar. The dining room is quietly romantic but a bit snug nonetheless creating a relaxed, understated atmosphere. Service is genuinely warm and technically precise without a hint of theatrics, striking an ideal balance of professionalism and ease. The menu consists of tapas-style plates that are intentionally restrained. With minimal ingredients and thoughtful execution, each dish allows the quality of the product to shine rather than relying on excess or embellishment. The result is food that feels confident, focused, and deeply satisfying. Four Horsemen is refined without feeling formal, and thoughtful without being precious, making it a place worth the effort, even on short notice.

This spot delivers thoughtful cooking with moments of brilliance, even if consistency is not perfect. The bread is excellent, and the crudo was bright and well executed. The oeuf mayonnaise with squid ink and caviar felt disjointed rather than inventive. The fennel salad refreshed the palate nicely. The little gem salad lacked creativity. The beet dish stood out, made richer and more layered by brown butter. Meat courses were handled with care. The tartare had bold yet balanced flavor. The sirloin came perfectly cooked with a flavorful sauce, though the anchovy butter felt unnecessary. Seafood ranged from forgettable to impressive. The halibut did not stand out, while the Boston mackerel was full of character with a great fry. The uni risotto was the most refined dish of the night. The mushroom crostini had depth, although the bread was too firm. Desserts were excellent. Worth a visit, especially for those who like to explore a variety of plates.

I really enjoyed every bite and the service was great! the server had lots of great suggestions on food & pairings. we were a party of 4, walk in. for me, it makes it extra special when you stand in line for a seat & secure it in the first seatings. the hiramasa & green tomatoes are my fav, the glazed beetroot & mushroom toast were great. the mackerel was good, it didn’t knock my socks off the way everything else did. looking forward to when I can get over there for lunch!

Not a single miss. Everything was standout, flavors are thought provoking. For 2 people we shared the mushroom toast, fennel salad, bread, hiramasa, pork collar, and halibut. Toffee pudding for dessert. Portions are smaller but with this order we left full. Service was excellent especially for recommending wine.

Yes, it is hard to get in. But once you are in, good lord it is great. First off, you are made to feel like you are a regular at a neighborhood eatery. Then every course is perfect and beautiful. The suggested wines were outstanding and unique. The bartender, Sam, obviously enjoyed talking to me about the pairings even though I was a stranger. Sure didn't feel like one!

Lives up to the hype and then some. Continues to be one of the best dining experiences in NYC and the country. Every dish hits, every wine is delicious, and the service is top notch. Worth the effort to walk in or snag a reservation.

Sublime. We ordered every dish on the menu except the clams and it was consistently excellent across very single dish - I don’t remember the last time I had a meal like that, because most restaurants have clear stars in their menus and then other dishes are just ok, but here everything was a banger. Favorites - scallop and leek custard, egg and blue crab, wagyu crostini, and the panna cotta (I don’t even like panna cotta and yet this was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had). Can’t wait to come back for dinner or in another season!

Bravo. I’ve determined that this would officially be my last meal. Everything was perfect. The restaurant itself is super cosy. The service was excellent, relaxed. The food was interesting and flavourful. We tried a number of fun wines that paired well our food. My only complaint is how hard it was to get a reservation 😆

An excellent operation with a chill vibe and a creative menu, taking amazing meals up a notch in unique ways. The Tartare Crostini is well formed and very flavorful, the salad’s cream and seasonings took some mixing up to get used to but that was good. Brown butter Crab with bread was great, and my two favorite starters the Grilled Octopus and the Seafood Rice. The octopus had perfect char and a sweet delicious taste paired great with the egg. The Seafood Rice was a great blend of fish stocked rice and cold fish as a topping. Then the Pork Collar, I loved this it’s a perfect preparation. Great portion with a beautiful seasoned top layer and a wonderful fatty center. We didn’t care much for the side, which for a dish this pricey you’d like solid side as a base but this gets a pass. Lastly to finish off the Panna Cotta was straight up great, safest dessert option.

Good but not exceptional food. The Four Horsemen’s appeal is of course their wine list, but also the constantly changing menu. I can understand how they maintain regulars. If you like their cooking style, you can keep coming back every week and get something new each time. However, constant change means the dishes weren’t honed and refined through the years, so nothing will beat the “signature dishes” of other restaurants. When I arrived at 5pm on a Saturday, I was the first to sit at the bar. By 5:20pm the bar was full and they had to start waitlisting people. You can’t order food until 5:30pm. Plan ahead. Arrive early and enjoy a glass of wine while you wait. Some staff seemed much more knowledgable about the wine than others. One person made discovering new wine very fun. For fans of pavlovas, it’s extremely disappointing to order a pavlova to later find out it’s a meringue. A meringue is solid all the way through. A pavlova has a crispy shell and a gooey marshmallow-y center. Please label the dessert appropriately to spare future guests the disappointment.

Great, but maybe a little overhyped? The food was good, but not one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The first few dishes were a little underwhelming..we thought the bread + butter was among the best starters and apps we ordered. Stand out dishes were: chicken liver crostino braised tripe sticky toffee pudding Overall good dining experience.

It is a lovely small restaurant with vibrant atmosphere. I like the food here, creatively designed, smartly seasoned and beautifully presented. The chef understands complexion of savory and also emphasizes the true flavors of the ingredients. I enjoyed their seafood and sausage most. The flatbread is a little bit below the bar. The only thing I may complain is it is too small. I felt compressed when dining. Since it has limited number of tables, I suggest reservation before visiting.

J
James Bates

A good meal only let down a bit by the service, e.g bread coming after a couple of small plates had been cleared away and a lettuce salad being delivered on its own as a course. The larger plates are actually quite big so I couldnt finish everything I ordered. Stand out dish was the beef tartare, which was excellent, one of the best I've had. Punchy with mustard, beefy - just delicious with the fried tendon. Simple but quality wine selection and a great atmosphere. Would return but order less.

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Overall the food was good. The dessert was my favorite. I think I’ll have to come back for dinner to enjoy the full experience. Yellowfin tuna with sesame seeds was okay. I wasn’t wow’d by the flavor I can’t help but think they’re missing an ingredient to truly tie it all together. The fried green tomatoes with fennel salad was a bit more fun and dynamic. I’d have it again if I came back. Lastly the macerated strawberries and creme fraiche as the true star of the show! I almost moaned it was that good.

Wine is good, food is not bad. Besides the long wait time (one and a half hours for 4 appetizers, 1 entree, and 1 dessert) for food, one of the gentlemen (not our server) that brought us a dish grabbed my phone and put it in my plate? Not sure what happened there but overall I think for $300 and a good wine&food combo, I would go somewhere else…

One of the best contemporary American restaurant that I have seen to execute dishes with Asian ingredients and recipes. Many of the dishes here resemble those that you can easily find in Chinatown, but executed well with a twist added to it. It did make me question the astronomical prices they charge for the dishes considering my tribal knowledge of the cost of ingredients they use. Some of their ingredients may seem “exotic” and certainly cater to a particular crowd, but it was nice to see them use everyday ingredients in a setting like this. For example, their pork dish reminds me of the roast pork you find in southern Chinese cuisine along with the skewered chives you find from the BBQ carts on the corner of the streets. Nonetheless, the service was great, plating was clean and nothing could be picked on. The only nitpick is that the steelhead trout was seared a little more than I liked, leaving a burnt aftertaste. The fig dessert is a MUST and it was the best part of the meal.

Our server, Jason, gave us great recommendations on what to order. Although we weren’t huge fans of the oeuff mayonnaise or leek toast, everything else — especially the bread and celery salad — was what would bring us back! The service and ambiance were also incredible! Very attentive and the perfect place to relax, drink wine, and dine.

S

Pretty good food. The place is a cozy small spot. The bartenders are really friendly and helpful. The stand out dishes were the cod fritters and the ricotta with sourdough. The sourdough was great to go with that ricotta cheese covered in ramps and black trumpets. Would definitely reorder those. I did want more flavor from the other two dishes in the shrimp and the strawberry tart but they were still good.

L

Thought it was a cute spot! A bit crowded and loud, but the service was good. I loved the oeuf mayonnaise. Golden chicken was good, lamb sweetbread skewers were also good King crab not worth the price point, and I thought the gnocco fritti could be skipped as well

Interestingly enough, my personal favorites were the smaller dishes rather than the larger ones. Notably, the oeuf mayonnaise and the warm house bread (the butter especially) were great. Otherwise, everything else was fine although nothing too particularly memorable. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The vibes are lively but also serene, which I like.

I enjoyed Four Horsemen, but it didn't blow my mind for the price. If I went again, I'd stick to the small plates so I could try more things. The chicken was good, but not great and it was huge. Their menu changes on a regular basis, so you can't be sure what you're going to get. Nothing I had was bad. Wagyu crostini and harimasa (not pictured) were my favorites. I arrived at 10:45am, and waited for them to open at 11. A line formed quickly, and it's a slow process for them to seat everyone in their tiny space. If you can't get a reservation, show up as early as you can.

Artsy, creative place with funky food. Lots to improve though. Got served totally burnt bread. They told me “the chef likes it that way”. “Well, I don’t like burnt toast bread” was my reply. They brought some new toasted bread, later to be found extra on the bill. Crazy! Anyways, I don’t want to burn this place down because of burnt bread and getting extra charged for it…Highlight of the late lunch were the fried pumpkin flowers. Totally amazing and tasty. The rest: slow roasted pork shoulder was good, not so succulent as promised and not something worth to go for. The homemade spaghetti missed out on flavor and was again blunt. A pack of noodles would have been better. Service quite ok, but hey…still can’t forget the extra charge for burnt bread…The place itself: good music, not too loud, tables too close to eachother to be comfortable. Would not go here (again) Maybe the success is slowly getting to this place in a bad way?

Some dishes were fantastic while others weren’t. The summer squash was drowning in Beurre Blanc and rather gross. The fried crab was soggy. The pork shoulder was delicious. The service was overall good but slow. Their wine selection is one of my favorite things about the experiences. Overall I found the four horsemen to be mid for this type of restaurant and expectation.

This was my third visit to The Four Horsemen since June 2024, and sadly, it was a sharp departure from the consistently excellent experiences I’ve had in the past. The quality of the food has noticeably declined. They no longer serve the signature seared yellowfin tuna. The skewer was aggressively spicy, overwhelming rather than enhancing the flavor. The Gen clam dish came across as bland. The swordfish was dry and overcooked. Even the egg appetizer that people rave about felt uninspired. Equally disappointing was the service behind the bar. The bartenders were visibly drinking while serving us, and one even spat into the sink right in front of us while we were eating. That kind of disregard for basic professionalism and hygiene. It’s disheartening to see such a reputable place slip so far in both culinary quality and hospitality. I hope this was an off night, but given the steep drop in standards, I’m hesitant to return anytime

Incredibly disappointed by the event with ved stranden 10. We have been to 4H a few times and have enjoyed our experience. However, this establishment is not at all equipped for events. We paid close to $100 per person after fees for this event which offered passed plates and shared pours. We paid for all our alcohol ourselves (almost $300 because it was bottles only) and didn’t receive a single free taste/shared pour. There was limited passed food, and everyone was starving so once the waiter exited the kitchen they were pounced on and the food was immediately gone. I think we got about 3 bites. Unfortunately it felt like a complete scam and money grab by 4H and bed stranden. The friends we made at the event were also incredibly disappointed by the experience. Would recommend for a la carte dinner, but beware of any events hosted by 4H!

The most overrated restaurant in wburg. Started off waiting over an hour to be seated. When we were, there were multiple tables open and clearly could’ve come a lot sooner. None of those seats were ever filled the entire time we were there except for one other person. The staff seemed like they didn’t want us there, very slow. All that is of least importance for me though because the food is what I care about most. The fennel salad was overly peppery and literally just a bunch of pears for $27, absolutely criminal!! The prime rib was cold, not kind of warm, I mean cold. And just not tasty as well as tiny. Save yourself $80 and go somewhere else. Michelin stars can be bought. It has a 4.3 rating — that is low for elite eating in nyc and a Michelin rated one at that

L
Lauren Perry

Probably such a negative experience because we sat between both of our waiters friends on a Sunday night. Service was so terrible. Took an hour to get a salad. For the price, that just hurts. Also writing this in line at joes pizza bc we are not full after spending a lot of $$$. Sad after years of hype

I went to the four horseman for lunch and was glad at least for a reservation because overall the experience was disappointing and would have not been worth the wait. I didn’t mind the small seating area or even the long waits for food and service. The food left much to be desired. It could have been the menu on rotation. I may have ordered all of the wrong things. The beef tendon soup was salty. It tasted like a shiro miso broth. The included beans, black trumpet mushrooms and beef tendons were sparse. They did little to enhance the soup broth that tasted very singular and salty. It could have been an off day. The Amish chicken was also disappointing. I love chicken and have a blast preparing it in many ways. $60 for a poached “chicken”, which was only dark meat (two thighs and drumsticks) is crazy. The skin was soft and mushy. The sauce was okay, and pretty disappointing. The flavor was all on the sauce and didn’t penetrate the meat. At least the chicken wasn’t dry, which is a low bar for poached dark meat. I did like the puff pasty, which was just a piece of baked puff pastry. Nothing fancy. The sauce also contained mushrooms and bacon fat. The bacon fat should have been rendered more to add the sauce flavor. Overall, I left the four horseman shockingly disappointed. Perhaps my expectations were too high, the menu may be slightly off, or maybe my palate isn’t suited towards the food. Others did seem to enjoy the food.

This restaurant is overrated, and I honestly don’t understand how it has held a Michelin star for several years. It’s definitely not worth the price. The portions are tiny, the flavors were either far too salty or overly acidic. Despite spending over $200 for just five dishes for 3 people , none of us left feeling satisfied. On top of that, getting a reservation here is unnecessarily difficult. For the same price, we had a much better experience at Theodora, which doesn’t even have a Michelin star but served food that was both delicious and filling. Save your time and money—skip this place and go somewhere else.

🍽️ The Four Horsemen: Don't Believe the Hype. Stay Away. If you are considering dining at The Four Horsemen based on its reputation or perceived Michelin quality, save your money and go elsewhere. My recent visit was an exercise in utter disappointment, marked by a combination of lackluster service, misleading dishes, and an atmosphere that felt more chaotic than chic. The high cost is simply not justified by the low return. 😒 Service: Rushed and Robbing Our Drinks The service was the most offensive part of the evening. The staff was overly aggressive in clearing items, reaching in and taking drinks away while we were actively having them. It felt rushed, while at the same time, they were 15 minutes behind on bringing one of the party member's dishes with no acknowledgement of the delay. For a restaurant at this price point and with this reputation, such basic hospitality failures are inexcusable. 🐓 The Great Chicken Swindle The misleading information came with our two orders of $60 chicken. Our server explicitly told us it would be a "whole chicken," leading us to expect a substantial, centerpiece dish. What arrived was nothing more than two measly legs and thighs with lackluster flavor. This misrepresentation was insulting and the menu descriptions and staff knowledge do not align with the prices charged. 😤 Flavors That Missed the Mark The food itself was a letdown. While the restaurant may chase accolades, the flavors are emphatically NOT Michelin star quality. The dishes were underwhelming, lacking the depth, complexity, and finesse one expects from a supposedly elevated dining experience. They were fine, at best, but "fine" does not warrant this price tag or the hyperbolic praise this place receives. 📉 Conclusion: High Cost, Low Return In summary, The Four Horsemen is a classic example of hype outweighing reality. The atmosphere is lackluster, the service is bad, and the food is mediocre and misleading. We are all unbelievably disappointed. We paid a premium price for a sub-par experience. My final word: Stay Away From The Four Horsemen.

Noe Amighini

The experience was bad from the start, when they seated us at a bar facing the street next to the entrance door, which opened every two minutes and froze us. There were four empty seats at the other bar, and we asked to change, but they said no, that they were busy, even though no one was sitting there. On the other hand, the food is scarce and not very tasty for what they charge, especially for a restaurant that is supposedly recommended by Michelin. We ordered rice with seafood, and it was almost impossible to find. For starters, we had mayonnaise eggs that were cold!!! They didn't warn us, they were tiny, not incredible and the price was extremely high. In conclusion, if you want to eat ordinary food, meager portions, nothing particularly sophisticated in terms of flavor, and pay a fortune... this is the place! Oh, the bread was very good!
