Opiniones de The Long Island Bar Brooklyn
Cute little bar with a diner feel. Sat at the bar, bartenders were very attentive. Dim lights, and great cozy atmosphere. Would come again.
One of the best cocktail bars in the known world. All of their house drinks are wonderful dance moves around ]drinks you already love. A complete night there includes the fried cheese curds and the burger. I mean, this burger is one of legend with an amazing house made cheese that melts like American but tastes of real funk. Come for an evening and enjoy yourself.
Really hard to get a seat. They have great cocktails. I predict they will be undone by their sucess.
unfailingly great. their fries are so good, why and how?
This Brooklyn bar truly embodies the spirit of a classic 'neighborhood joint.' While predominantly frequented by locals, I also spotted a few international guests. The service was attentive, and the drinks were well-crafted.
I am once again begging Long Island Bar to make a veggie burger 🙏 there are basically no good veggie burgers in the neighborhood anymore and I would come here weekly instead of monthly if they put a veggie burger to the caliber of HiHi Room's (r.i.p.) on the menu! Until then, the best vegetarian dinner here is the gem salad with a side of deviled eggs and I *will* keep coming back for it. Five stars regardless, love this place. Even if it gets a bit "scene-y" (you can kind of tell when someone has posted a TikTok blowing up the spot lol) Long Island Bar is true to itself and never wavers.
Good cocktails, trout and pasta dish were very tasty. Love the retro look and feel.
Always a pleasure to visit for some of the best cocktails and possibly the best burger in NYC! Great wait staff and bartenders and an eclectic playlist in a setting from another era. Lots to love!
This place is truly spectacular and will always be my favorite spot to go to. A double cheeseburger paired with the improved pendennis club is a combination you can’t go wrong with. I love the atmosphere, but the huge flat screen TV throws off the vibes.
The best burger and fries I have had in my life, hands down. I'm not sure what they are doing to that burger but it's perfect. My martini was pretty good also! The vibe here is fantastic and I can't wait to go back.
Excellent pub fare and a wonderful atmosphere. I particularly liked relaxing at one of the sidewalk tables. The burger is good the flavor was far more compelling.
Perfect "grown folks" bar, as far as they go, mi gente. They get it right, where it counts; no hangups, real service, quality product. I like to arrive early, sitting at the generous picture-window counter, sipping an apertíf while the sun sets on this lively Brooklyn neighborhood. LI Bar is a warm, masculine room with a familiar Art Deco/Mid-Century NYC tavern/brasserie vibe. Soft lighting, dark wood bar, not too loud, usually. The cheese curds were fantastic. The gem salad, also delicious. The Frozen Piña Colada was worth the sugar headache it gave me. 10/10 would recommend.
Upscale diner food. Creative and yummy. Great cocktails. The Erin drink is the best. Everything in here is worth it.
This Brooklyn gem, quite possibly the best bar in the entire city, was an absolute highlight of our recent trip. We found ourselves drawn back nightly for their exquisite nightcaps, the genuinely warm and inviting hospitality of the bartender and owner, and the retro ambiance. It has the comfortable, unpretentious feel of a classic dive bar, yet its concise food and drink menus deliver a surprisingly elevated experience. I'm already looking forward to planning my next visit!
Took the wife we split the burger. I give it 2 thumbs up and my wife liked it too. The fries might be the best we have had in quite a while. Extra crispy. Drinks are well balanced and wet the whistle well. Service very nice and on top of things.
The drinks are the BEST!!! I had two Cosmos and two Dolores Del Rios (Jalapeño Infused Blanco Tequila, Aperol, Passion Fruit, Lime Juice) Hands down the best cocktails I've ever had. The staff is very attentive and it's a great atmosphere. I had some fries once I realized I was wayyy tipsy and they were okay. Very oily and crunchy but still good. Also it was around 1am so the kitchen was probably about to close so all in all it was a great experience.
If you're searching for a genuine neighborhood bar vibe in Brooklyn, this spot is definitely worth a visit. It draws a primarily local crowd, though I did notice a few international guests as well. The drinks and service didn’t disappoint—I'd especially recommend trying the White Negroni or going for the classic Shot and Beer combo.
The bar offers an excellent selection of drinks that pair perfectly with the flavorful menu. I particularly loved the relaxed vibe of the outdoor seating, which made for a perfect evening. While the burger was satisfying, the standout dish for me was the panisse, thanks to its unique and bold seasoning that added an unexpected twist to the meal. The combination of great food, drinks, and atmosphere makes this spot a must-visit.
The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The drink menu offered a nice selection of local beers and creative cocktails that paired well with the food. I also appreciated the laid-back vibe, which made it a perfect spot for both casual dinners and catching up with friends. If you’re looking for a cozy yet lively place with delicious bites, this is definitely worth a visit.
Food is fine but staff and vibe is great. Been coming here for 11 years. A favorite.
For an authentic neighborhood bar experience in Brooklyn, this spot is a must-visit. You'll find a predominantly local crowd, with a sprinkling of international visitors adding to the mix. The service was excellent, and the drinks were well-crafted; I particularly recommend their White Negroni and the Shot & Beer combo.
This is a cocktail bar done well. The decor reminds me of an upscale diner— it feels like you are taking a step back in time. The drinks are delicious, I’m a fan of the frozen Cosmopolitan which is delightfully citrusy. I am looking forward to going back to try some of the food options
Looking for an authentic neighborhood bar experience in Brooklyn? This spot is it. You'll find a predominantly local crowd enjoying solid drinks and friendly service. Their White Negroni and the classic Shot & Beer come highly recommended.
I had an awesome experience here. I was greeted by a hostess immediately and seating right next to the door with a window view of Atlantic Avenue. I expected to be cold, but the heat was pumping right in my area which was an awesome (and I assume intentional) move to make sure every since seat was comfortable here. Me and my friend got an appetizer to split: the basket of fries. The fries were around $10 and they lasted us ALL NIGHT and were incredibly crunchy and tasty. I had two servings of The Long Island Gimlet which was a phenomenal drink — tasted like an elevated Moscow Mule. The service was attentive, friendly, and accommodating.
Best burger. Get extra fancy sauce. And a white Negroni!!! Love the atmosphere
The best bar in Brooklyn and possibly the city, bar none. We returned night after night during our recent stay for delicious night caps, a warm and welcoming bartender and owner, and a retro space that feels like a dive bar with a simple food and cocktail menu that bely a truly elevated experience. Wish I could go back again but will have to plan my next visit instead!
This is truly the place to be if you're looking for a bar in Brooklyn that still feels like your typical "neighborhood bar". The crowd is mostly local but I also saw a few international visitors. Service and drinks were good, I can recommend their White Negroni and the Shot & Beer too.
My favorite burger in nyc. I usually always avoid a double patty for my burgers but I would not do the single patty here. The ratio of the bread and sauce all goes best with the juices of the double patty. Also worth waiting to sit at the bar or in booth vs in back room. We got there just before 6 and beat the rush.
I love this place and if it was a little closer to my apartment I would come here more. Anytime i'm in the mood for a "martini and double cheeseburger" this is my go-to spot. I recently decided to try the cheesecake too which was great! I appreciate the simplicity of the menu and the cocktails. Just a well made cocktail i'll take any time over trying too hard to "reinvent" or "riff on a classic."
Love love loooove this spot for a drink or dinner. The burger is great, the gem salad, cheese curds and tortilla. Service is usually great
Super understated spot that focuses on great drinks and tasty food. Love seeing a top tier cocktail bar not get caught up in list-chasing. Drinks speak for themselves. Piña colada was my favorite of the ones we tried.
Casual, diner-like feel. Attentive and quick service. In short - good bar food , great cocktails. The deviled eggs have pronounced acidity, which is great given how rich they are. The curds were light, gooey, but a bit salty. The trout dip was great. The cheeseburger was outstanding, cheesy, juicy, and the pickle added good crunch and contrast. All of the cocktails we tried were excellent.
Long Island Bar is perfection. The food hits that sweet spot of comforting but inventive, and the drinks flow so easy you lose track of the decade you’re in. Part of me doesn’t even want to write this because I don’t need TikTok mobs storming our neighborhood gem. Start with the cheese curds and pretend you’re balancing them out with the gem salad. The deviled eggs are a must, and the burger never misses. Even the white Negroni, glowing radioactive yellow, tastes like it was invented here. Every detail is dialed in and the bus boys somehow always know when you are done even if their are fries left?? How?? It’s the kind of place that feels like yours the moment you sit down. No gimmicks, just timeless perfection. Easily the best restaurant in South Brooklyn.
All anyone wants to do is fit in at a place like this. Asking for a window bar seat felt a little like I was putting them out, but food was great, drinks were amazing and we will be back to see if we can get a smile and a thanks for coming in. Didn't want to mention that we'd been there before they were born, probably. There to celebrate an empty nest and it was perfect on a steamy day. I'll try to endear myself to them next time.
authentically timeless, long island bar is refreshingly frozen in simpler times -- terrazzo floors, neon lights, spinning bar stools -- the same design since opening in the 1950's (which includes no reservations). just timeless charm and damn good food LI burger is the move: two dry-aged patties, gooey house-blend american, a tangy fancy sauce, and a bacon wheel lookin like a red onion. Sneaky how good it is -- only gets better with each bite. alongside fries with a golden crisp buzzing and full of energy, long island bar is the foundation for any perfect night in cobble hill (ultimately ending down the street with karaoke at montero's until late night). cobble hill doesn’t have many institutions left. this one’s the real deal fun fact: ramon montero, original owner of *both* LI bar + montero's, kept these businesses in the family for 50+ years (his son joseph ran montero's + daughter emma ran LI bar)
Local spot serving cocktails and bar food with a retro vibe. This is a good bar to come to with a few friends for a drink. I stopped in here for lunch to try the burger and it far exceeded my expectations. It was juicy, seasoned, and had a tasty sauce on top. The patties were not quite smash burgers but not overly thick like many restaurant burgers are. It was a perfect size and the fries were delicious, with a double fried crisp.
The atmosphere is very old school, the drinks are good. I did not have any food there. The staff was very accommodating
Killer burger and great cocktails in an upscale diner-type bar. Love the cheese curds.
With its timeless mid-century ambiance and decor, this classic spot offers a welcoming atmosphere. The LI Burger alone makes the visit worthwhile, and you'll also discover a diverse menu of food and drinks to suit all tastes.
The food was satisfactory, and the atmosphere was excellent. Enjoying the outdoor seating during pleasant weather is highly suggested. However, with only one server attending to more than eight tables outside, some items were overlooked, and the service lacked attentiveness overall.
All were AMAZING!!! So much so, we got a second order of deviled eggs. For a long time now, I've walked by this place with a line outside. Happy finally decided to wait and give it a try. The staff was also very welcoming. Will Return Very Soon! Highly Recommend!
We went here to try the burger on a recommendation! We ordered the long island burger with bacon wheel! For us the selling point was the bacon wheel, it’s the perfect addition to the burger, a perfect sized bacon that fits in to the burger, if you don’t lift the bun you wouldn’t notice the bacon! Never seen that anywhere.. The fries were the best, thin and crispy with good seasoning! Overall we thought the burger was very tasty, food amount of cheese had some nice flavours going on with the potential of improving! Of course we are being a bit picky as we were on a foodie tour - patty could be cooked a bit better - was underwhelming as it was slightly overcooked!! We would appreciate if the server asks us how would we want our burger to be cooked! And the ratio of the meat to bun was not right- with the bun probably not able to handle the filling weight! A nice place with American diner vibes to enjoy a decent burger!
This bar which reminds us of a classic diner from the past but this one does everything right. On a Wednesday night, open for business at 5 PM, it's packed 15 mins after opening. It seems like a neighborhood place where people go for solid cocktails and a small but very tight menu. The cocktails are pretty much perfectly executed examples of what a excellent drink should be, from classics to their list of specialty cocktails. Their wine and beer selection is small but serviceable. The food menu is small and limited in selection, what they do offer is executed perfectly. The cheese curds are a must order to accompany cocktails and even standards like burgers, chicken sandwiches are great and the trout filet is a must try. Their fries are crispy and plentiful. Service is friendly, efficient and attentive. For some reason, the patrons just seems happy to be here which makes for a enjoyable and relaxing experience and in all likelihood why many of the patrons are regulars.
Atmosphere: 7.5/10 Located in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, The Long Island Bar exudes classic American diner vibes with its neon signage and chrome accents. Inside, the high-backed booths, chrome-trimmed chairs, and laminated menus reinforce the nostalgic theme. While the decor is charmingly retro, the backbar is minimal, featuring mostly glassware without an extensive display of spirits. Music volume was well-balanced, complementing the ambiance without overpowering conversation. Drinks: 5/10 Recommendation: Improved Pendennis Club The cocktail menu is concise, presented in a simple, laminated diner-style format. Drinks leaned towards the sweeter side, lacking depth and complexity. Presentation was basic, with standard glassware, no coasters, and minimal garnishes. Service: 6.5/10 The staff was friendly and attentive throughout the visit. Water was only provided upon request. Prices were slightly below average for New York.
This is a bar restaurant in all its glory and vintage style. They definitely run a tight ship with their service, water is always kept full, plates are taken, and service is prompt. Clean place with small menu which is a good thing. The cheese curds were surprisingly delightful. Deviled eggs were solid but honestly nothing like homemade. Now the star of the show is the burger, adding bacon is a must!!! Ask for mustard, trust the process. I didn't want the fries so I went arugula salad, one thing of note is they use coarse salt which you taste and feel a lot.
I have mixed feelings about this place. The cocktails are very good. The food is meh. The cheese curds are amazing and not to be missed, but I would skip the burger. I don't understand all the raves it gets -- mine was sickly gray and overcooked. It did come with some pretty stellar fries though! I love the kitschy mid-century modern decor, from the neon "BAR" sign out front to the 1930s/40s-era backbar and the cozy vinyl-upholstered booths. I particularly loved the busty pinup gal lamp on the backbar. I had plenty of time to take a mental inventory of all the period details because we waited more than hour to be seated. "You're next on the list" the hostess said, as she sat one table, then another, then another until we politely pitched a fit, which quickly got us both an apology and a table.
We went to Long Island bar last night, we have been coming to this bar for well over a decade. One thing you could always count on was a perfect cocktail! There were two Bartenders we didn’t recognize. And my wife and I had the two worst cocktails we’ve had in any New York establishment in years. When I asked if the bartender could maybe remake, he looked annoyed added some sweet and re shook! It didn’t do anything except make it worse! I am a bar owner myself. This was unacceptable. Unless this was a temporary bartender this place has lost the plot! The waitress was very pleasant. No complaints there, only reason I’m giving it stars.
I don’t quite get the hype around Long Island Bar. I’ve given it multiple chances: a date at the bar (honestly the best experience), another visit in one of the booths and the back room, and finally an outdoor seating visit on a nice day. I’m not a big cocktail person, but I remember having a few during my date and they were definitely well made. The food is good — just not amazing. What really detracts for me is how crowded it gets; the narrow pathway between the bar and booths fills up quickly, and I genuinely feel for the servers trying to navigate it. Overall, it’s a solid spot, but not one I personally feel compelled to hype.
Overall, this place is just fine. Nothing unique (maybe the decor- they have old school diner decor) and nothing on the menu that’s AMAZING and worthy of a recommendation. We had the burger, trout, and gem salad. The gem salad was just a Cesar salad (no little gem, straight up romaine) with some radishes and a few pumpkins seeds. It was a fine salad, no complaints Burger was just fine. Trout was cooked nicely but had no flavor and the potatoes it came with were under cooked.
The vibe/service is great, gem salad was good too! The burger is such a let down, very sad. Cheap pasty bun, lean meat with no char like a wet rubbery grey disc. The best part of the burger was the sauce. It’s just so wild how something as simple as the hamburger can come out so bad. Also the fries had that carbon-y taste like the fry fryolater oil needed to be changed. This was my second time here after a similar experience, I wanted to give it a another shot. Sigh
My girlfriend and I went here last night and thought we were going to get a few drinks. I gotta say, the vibe at this place felt awesome and we both were really enjoying our experience until our waiter (who wasn’t friendly at all) decided to throw our bill down at our table after one cocktail without saying a word. No “would you like another one?”, “how were those those drinks?”, just threw our bill down on the table as he passed, as if we weren’t even there. We found this to be incredibly rude and decided to leave immediately since this was so off putting. Excellent drinks, but really poor service service for our first time…
Came here for the burger, don’t get what all the hype is about to be honest. I don’t know how they cook them but the patties had a weird texture and flavor, and no sear. Just not for me. But the pickles and fries were really good.
Burger is NOT what it used to be. The patty seems very different and lacks the depth of flavor that the burger once had. Super disappointing because I would have said previously that this place has the best burger in town.
We were part of a group that were sat outside, people joined over time. The staff didn’t love it, making sarcastic comments about pre booking space. Bar tender chose to turn his nose up when paying with apple on phone. Overall vibe - meh, uptight staff who are trying to make this place something it’s not. Not worth the time - head over the road and have a drink elsewhere.
Really wanted to like this place. Went for the burger and asked for no sauce. Came with sauce and would have eaten it if the burger was great or above average… it was not.
Whoever said that the food here is good or worth what they charge is delirious. Overpriced trash food is all you'll get there. Cool old school bar with cool bartenders and an attentive hostess. Other than that don't waste your time.
Came here to see some old friends. It's more than possible this was the wrong venue. We were a big party and we were in the back and every time someone stood up (as they arrived or left) we were blocking the passageway for servers. Can only imagine how frustrating that was for staff. They certainly let us know. But also it was 12 degrees out, we're spending money at this establishment, perhaps they could be slightly less caustic. I felt like I was in a pre-school with angry teachers. People were literally afraid to move. My friend ordered a drink and asked if it could be made with a particular tequila. The server said and i quote "that tequila is garbage," like a teenager would say. I thought I heard her wrong. But my friend heard the same thing. Not sure when that became okay. It's a really cozy looking place, but that experience was so unpleasant I'll literally never go back.
This place is overall good. But I did have a very unfortunate experience with a massive hair in my cocktail. The worst part is, I brought it to the attention of the server and she was the opposite of apologetic. I had to ask for a new one, rather than it being offered, and her initial response was “it happens” which kinda blew me away. Nothing was comped, no apologies were offered, nothing, they just carried on as usual. To me, for a restaurant at this price point, that is atrocious. You need to train your people on how to treat violations like this. I know it happens, and I’m not going to cause a scene, but at least apologize and offer to comp the drink, it’s not that hard.
don’t even bother with this place. the staff is so rude and offensive! went with a group for drinks on a friend’s birthday. the waitress told us we could gather in the corner and wait for seats, nobody seemed welcoming or offered us menus. eventually a waitress came over to ask if we were planning to order and we asked for menus and she asked for our ids and spent several minutes inspecting them even though everyone in our group is mid to late twenties. a couple people in our party placed our orders, then another staff member who seemed like the manager came over and asked us to leave because we were being “rude to the staff”. our first clue should have been the neon sign hanging on the wall that said “no dancing” - what a vibe kill. i would be curious to have tried the drinks because i doubt they were worth the $20 per cocktail.
Staff was rude, particularly a blonde waitress we had on Saturday. Treated us like a major inconvenience and ignored us most of the time we were there. I’ve actually never been treated so poorly at a restaurant or bar before, it was shocking. I recognize I brought a stroller in, but I have a newborn who needs to sleep in the stroller bassinet and this was daytime. Babies and postpartum moms are allowed to exist in society with others. Also, FWIW, our party mostly spoke Spanish so who knows. Seeing other reviews about how they treat POC. Fries were good. I actually never got a drink bc she didn’t bother asking me what I wanted, but my friends enjoyed their cocktails.
$22 for a disgusting burger? I feel ripped off. No exaggeration, a Big Mac is better value. And I can’t believe how busy it was, and seeing all the burgers come out of the kitchen. It was a tiny tasteless thing with gloppy sauce. And a draft beer was in a 12 ounce glass not even a pint. The hostess and server were really nice and a nice atmosphere, but I cannot believe what a rip off that place is … never again.
Last night we went to attend a relative's birthday party. A table of 12 was reserved. Once the table was full and a few other guests started to arrive, the hostess confronted our cousin at the table and demanded to know how many more people were expected. As it was unclear, we asked if any of the other tables were reserved in the back room and if they were available or if we could split off and have some of the party sit at the bar. The hostess responded that if there were more than 12 people, we were required to rent the whole back room at an additional cost. She added that we weren't allowed to stand around in the back room and to stay out of the way of her wait staff. She came back 15 minutes later, making the same speech in front of the whole room. I understand the limitations of running a business in such a small place and the importance of organization and scheduling reservations to maintain some sense of order and flow for the kitchen and staff, but to repeatedly embarrass and humiliate your guests with such arrogance, hostility, and condescension is unforgiveable. If our cousin misunderstood the rules or even if she was blatantly ignoring them, the hostess should have pulled her aside in private for that conversation. Appalling, unprofessional, and disgusting behavior. I'll never go back.
Found a spot to stand at the ledge by the bar. Waited about 15 minutes but could not get any service so went to another bar.
We were treated horribly by the staff. There were about 10 of us and so they had us sit in one area of the bar. The waitress (older, blonde woman) was extremely rude and begrudgingly brought us menus when we asked. She physically moved one of the stools we were sitting in out of her way and then proceeded to card every one of us. She continue to be rude and push past us. I asked her if she was OK due to her aggressive behavior and she chose to put her hand on my arm. I asked her not to touch me and she removed her hand. She walked away in a huff and then proceeded to have another employee kick all of us out of the restaurant. A few of us had already ordered drinks and they said that they would cancel everything and that we needed to leave. One of the employees literally stood and watched us leave. It was a humiliating and uncomfortable experience. We are a very diverse group and felt that they were treating us poorly since the moment that we walked in. Very disappointing.
Food was great and the place is beautiful. However be aware - ALWAYS save your receipts. Someone on staff will try and scam you here. I tipped $10 on a $47 tab and days later I saw someone changed my tip to $100. Skip this place and go somewhere with more integrity.
The most depressing bartender I’ve ever experienced. The atmosphere seemed subdued and catered to people with lots of money but no personality. Literally, the only positive was a young man that saw me waiting for the restroom and helped to see if it was available as I stood waiting.
Burger took 40 mins to come out, older blonde waitress gave attitude when asked to check on the food. Burger itself was small for the price and not seasoned well. Oh and also charged me more than what I wrote down on the check
Avoid at all costs. Stopped in here for a few late night drinks with friends. The bartender (in the picture) immediately treated us as if we were an inconvenience and had a terrible attitude, and none of us knew why. Because of the disrespectful way we were treated, we agreed not to leave a 20% tip - something none of us ever imagined doing at any bar or restaurant. But the service was that bad. Upon seeing the bill, the bartender then proceeded to start yelling at us as we walked out about how embarrassed we should feel for not tipping him well. Meanwhile in hindsight he really deserved nothing. The only person who should be embarrassed is the owner of this bar for employing such a downright awful person. Worst customer service experience I have ever had, hands down. It’s honestly appalling that he even works in the hospitality industry. The drinks were decent but clearly none of us will ever be returning to this disgrace of an establishment.
Staff and vibe is awesome, however if you’re going here for the burger don’t waste your time. Very over hyped and just an average burger. Go to JG Mellon in the UES or Lions Bar & Grill in the east village.
