I recommended J Cody’s Steaks & BBQ for your catering events. I had tasted them at another event and put my request in for menu choices for our event. I already knew the steak was really good. But I was not sure if they were affordable for a non-profit event. I was greatly surprised and had no question for the menu selection. They worked with us on several things to smooth things out. And those things even fell through, you would not have known it did. Their staff was so gracious and stepped in and helped us out. I am forever grateful for the service, the kindness and the incredible food. Thank you for helping us have a successful event

AMAZING Food! The CodyCorn is addictive! Pecan Cobbler is the tastiest sweet treat and you have to add the cinnamon ice cream! Server Warner is the best! All drinks were refilled and his table visits were timely!

Best customer service, hands down...Thank You ladies, sorry I didn't get your names, yall were the best..Smiles in every single one, from the sweet girls helping us out at the register's to the guys who came out with our food...we had a small thing happen with another customer,(I didn't argue nor did I complain to them about it), they saw what happen and they knew the other customers were wrong for what they did...Not even 5 minutes later another young lady came out and asked if everything was ok, I said yes. Yes because I didn't have no problem with them(it was the other customers) She then said I heard what happen, they shouldn't have done that is there anything I can do to help you so your experience won't be a bad one.. I told her strait up, it's not yall it was that customer and I didn't want to argue with them...So then she said did you needed anything else, I asked my daughter if she still wanted that other STUFFED BAKED POTATO since that's what were going to do before we were rudely interrupted (that's how good it was, and she's a picky eater) she said yes..So I asked her for it and proceeded to the register to pay for it.As she walked out the kitchen wile I was paying she goes- "Dont worry we got it.. I said no because it's not your fault..She goes - "ITS ON THE HOUSE"- and was not charged for it... I really appreciate this..you didn't have to but I thank you for it all... All this to say that they have the best customer service and they really care about them too.. PS we came down here from Houston looking at a job that we are about to start. We do custom carpentry work..and were looking around the town because we need our people to stay in a hotel and know were we can come and eat,just because we like to plan everything ahead.. well you just earned 11 more customers, because this is were we are bringing our workers to eat when ever we come down here... Again THANK YOU.....

Steak was excellent as always. Bacon, cheese, and ranch covered fries were a gluttonous good time. The peach cobbler and cinnamon ice cream just about put me in a coma. Man, it was ALL good!

My husband and I always enjoy our visits to J. Cody's Steak and Barbeque. They are observing all Covid guidelines and do their very best to make sure everything is nice and clean. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the food is great. We especially like to go on Monday evening for dinner and a show. That's right, a show. Most every Monday night a group of local musicians comes together to play some great old country music and occasionally a bit of bluegrass. Brings back memories of dancing at the Hall of Fame back in the day. Where else are you going to find a family friendly spot to catch an early show with dinner. They play from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Today was my 2nd time visiting this place. Both times we got take-out. The restaurant looks nice and comforting. Our next visit will be for a sit down Ribeye Dinner because the ones that I saw them cooking today looked delicious! Today we got Sliced Brisket Sandwiches, Loades Baked Potato, Peach and Blueberry Cobbler! 😊

Blast from the past! August 29, 2005. Live bluegrass music on Monday nights. We mandolin players (just 3 of us) would hang out on the porch and keep playing until late, after the place closed for the evening.

We were looking for some Texas BBQ while visiting College Station and decided to come here. The place has a rustic feel that really makes it feel like a true BBQ joint. They have a good variety of meats, but I tried the lean chopped brisket which was very tasty! The sides were also quite tasty, especially the bacon fries. Prices were pretty competitive, especially the happy hour drinks. Service was super friendly and the food came out quickly. Overall a great BBQ experience!

We had a great experience at J Cody’s! Our waiter, Bree, was nice and made us feel welcome! She was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The place was really clean and had a very calm atmosphere. Once we sat down the waiter was very attentive, a young guy name Tanner. Tanner was so nice and patient and helped us figure out our craving and we ordered. The food was fantastic and some of the best priced BBQ I’ve had. 10/10 will be coming back.

I had the ribeye at J. Cody’s and it was outstanding. Cooked perfectly with a great sear on the outside and tender, juicy all the way through. You can taste the mesquite flavor without it overpowering the steak. The seasoning was spot on and the portion size was generous. If you’re looking for a legit ribeye in Bryan, Texas, this is it. Consistently great food and service every time I go.

Spectacular as always! We always have a great dining experience here. From the attentive and friendly staff to the delicious food. Every time we are in town, we stop by for a bite. At our last visit, I had the brisket sandwich with Mac and Cheese and potato salad. It's was all prepared perfectly and comforting delicious. Hubby had the two meat combo with sausage and brisket, fried okra, and cabbage. He said everything was delicious and enjoyed it all from the meats to the sides. I highly recommend stopping in if you're looking for delicious BBQ, comfort food, and spectacular customer service.

Excellent service, food, and drinks. Their ribs are phenomenal and smoked to perfection. Their sweet tater fries were great. Cody corn was absolutely delicious very different to most corn dishes in the area. Come and give them your business they deserve it. You may come hungry and leave in a food coma it is that good. Military and veteran discounts are available just ask it is 20% of the veteran or servicemember meal not the whole table.

This restaurant is AMAZING! I think it's crazy that I haven't written a review yet considering I grew up going here and would visit whenever I was in town since I no longer live in College Station. You get complimentary corn bread and French bread and even that's delicious! Their moist brisket is wonderful. Also ask to see if they have any Ends and Pieces yet. Sure they don't look like your classic steaks but they still got the same taste! Nice, juice and tender. And the Cody Corn never gets old! Ugh I love it so much. Don't forget the green beans either! And if you can definitely save some room for the cobblers with ice cream. Peach Cobbler is my fave but they're all good. Service is attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is so cute and classic. I love coming back here! Can't recommend enough!

I was in town for training and have had J. Cody catering, but I wanted to go to their actual location. I love a great barbeque and smoked meats, I wish this place was in Tucson AZ. When you pull up and get out of your car, the aroma, smoke in the air just takes you to another place. Smells so good, makes your mouth water before you even get in. I got a 3-meat plate, and my coworker got the smoked jalapeno cheddar sausage plate. I'll keep it straight to the point. Damn good eats, fresh with great portions and an awesome price. Fast service, friendly staff, and great atmosphere. You can not go wrong. Go get you some.

We were here on a Wednesday evening. Wasn't too busy, but it wasn't slow. We were seated by the manager and he very kindly thanked for choosing the restaurant to eat at. One of my highest praises will always be for active, helpful management. Our server, Christopher, brought out the bread basket almost immediately. The food was spectacular. Every single thing was very, very good. Of course, I had to get the free cookie! We were offered more bread to take home with our leftovers when we asked for boxes, which I thought was extremely generous of the restaurant. Free cookies & bread?!?! Excellent service, great food, and the restrooms were clean (you know I checked). Yup, I'll be back!

My brisket was tender and delicious. I never needed my knife! I plan to return regularly. This was Tuesday afternoon, and we also enjoyed the live music!

It's a lovely place at lunch and the food is pretty good. The smell of burning mesquite wood caught me by surprise but over all pretty solid. I would recommend you grad a BBQ plate.

Environment is super awesome, love the decor and homie feel. Service was great, our server Bri was super attentive and was super nice and stayed attentive to the table. All around friendly people with great food.

The brisket was tender and moist. Great flavor. The sides are OK. Had a salad and Mac and cheese. Salad seemed a bit old and the Mac and cheese was OK. Up your sides game to match how good your brisket is and you have a winner.

That jalapeño Cornbread tho is something sweet #Burp . The fried pork chop bites are very yummy 😋 Cooked just right . But they charge for eerrThang; including extra butter for your baked potato. I am not cheap! ~ I pay for what I want, but they will nickle & dime you to death with these petty condiment charges. (If you would have given me the right scoop of butter 🧈 and cheese in the 1st serving, I wouldn't need to request extra .... duuuhhh 😠

I haven't eaten here in years and thus I didn't know that they had transformed from a more traditional BBQ joint to a wait to be seated and order from the table restaurant. They were busy and it took about 10 minutes before anyone took my order, then I waited at least another 20 minutes to get my meal! Brisket & sausage just need to be sliced and plated, what took so long? The brisket was bland and served in small bite-sized pieces. Green beans were also bland. So I guess if you want a nicer "dining" experience with mediocre BBQ then this might be your place. As for me, I think I'll stick with one of the better BBQ "joints" in town.

The bake potatoes are small and was not worth the cost very disappointing. The beans were very good will get them again The service was great Josh was very nice to talk with greeted you with a smile and a great conversation. I was new to the place and he took the time to answer questions

The food was great and warm when served. But the service needed work. Went with a group of about 40 ppl. We had specific menu with several sides. It took a while to get the drinks to us and when we asked or got up to get it ourselves to help them out, the staff was rude to some of us. 1 waitstaff person at the begining to serve 40 ppl. Ended up with 3 but still couldnt get it correct. They knew we were coming and didnt prepare very well with the service staff. Some ppl received food after the others across from them were finished. When the plates were brought out they were not correct. Instead of asking around the table who had xxx like regular waitstaff they took it back. Some said I'll just eat this. Then when we passed the plate to the correct person it confused them. They didnt write it down in the correct order or got the 3 tables mixed up. Caused us to be an hour late for the bus trip back home.

Disappointed with my most recent visit. Meat was bland and had little to no smoke flavor. At least the sides were good.

Was very disappointed about this experience. I'm not sure why they have such great reviews but it just makes me think that these people have never had great bbq. The brisket was so dry and old, had no flavor. The ribs were small, dry, and boney, very little meat on them. The sausage was ok but after the brisket and ribs were so bad this was just a small consolation. The potato salad seemed store bought, not homemade at all. Pinto beans and fried okra were fair. The creamed corn was either cooked too early that day or the day before because it was old and dry. The service was good and that's the only reason for two stars. Otherwise, save your money because this bbq is definitely not worth it.

Disgraceful “BBQ” and I do not care if you’re 30 minutes to closing. The sausage and brisket were dry and only edible with the sauce, which tasted more like spiced syrup and looked like syrup…the bottom bun of the sausage sandwich was dang near hard and stale..you gave me the literal bottom of a head of cabbage, no flavor at all…the CodyCorn and Jalepeno corn bread were the only good thing..the cheddar bacon fries felt and tasted old and yall went cheap on the bacon and cheddar…I should have went to C&J All that crap for $40….There’s better BBQ in Dallas and is saying a lot with Elgin right down the road around here…I’ve been an Aggie my whole life and this town doesn’t live up to the University nor it’s history…do better, even at closing…

Not sure how you mess up a baked potato but this thing was overcooked and looked like a briquet. The worst part is they knew it was overcooked and because they put cheese in it and still served it to me. The ribeye was half fat, the croutons were so salty I couldn’t eat the salad. Will definitely be going somewhere else in the future.

Yesterday was my first visit to J. Cody's. We were greeted and seated immediately, and I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. The jalapeño cornbread was excellent. Also got the basket with fried Okra, onions, and French fries. Said it included squash, but we didn't see only but a couple of pieces of it. It took a long time for the food to come out, despite the place not being busy and I was hoping to see steam come off the food, but sadly it looked like it had been sitting out awhile. I got the 3 meat plate with marbled brisket, chopped brisket, jalapeño sausage, and the corn and mac and cheese. The brisket was very dry, and the chopped looked like they used the oldest brisket available that had been sitting out. I struggled to swallow the brisket; no flavor, and it was so dry I had to pour bbq sauce on it to get it down. The chopped was so bad I gave up on it and left it. The sausage and sides were good, but didn't seem fresh. Would have been better if the food came out hot. Our server was nice, but she never checked on us or asked how everything was. We were thanked by employees when we left. Not sure if the restaurant was just having a bad day, as even their payment system wasn't working well from what our waitress told us. My suggestions would include not sending out food that is not hot or does not meet a standard of excellence, changing the preparation of the brisket, and to always check on the tables and ask how everything is. If they fix those 3 things, then I would be willing to come back and give it another shot. Regardless, I desire this review to serve constructively, and I wish them and their team the very best.

Ordered the large peach cobbler.. must have been the last bit left in the pan... because I had cobbler crust with 2 small slices of peach with very little sauce... have already eaten a lot of the crust.. picture of the bowl of crust.. waiter was nice... they didn't have 1/4 star for the food and drink.. so had to give them a full one 🌟 star

If you remember walk up to the counter and order your BBQ, grab a seat and help yourself to unlimited pinto beans, and have you plate delivered to your table promptly. This is no longer the case. Now they seat you and you order through a waiter/waitress. BBQ to literally 20 minutes and both the turkey and brisket were dry. Not sure what happened but what a tragedy to a long time BCS BBQ. Spare yourself a disappointment.

As for as first impressions go this place wasn’t it, came for Mother’s Day. Walking in the door I was feeling the vibe but after the first few minutes I realized that there really was no host, after being sat it felt like the waitress had forgotten about us or no one told her we were in her section. My wife and her mom had the chicken fried steaks, both seemed to enjoy their food. I ordered a BBQ burger but there was nothing bbq about it, the patty itself was fine but there was no cheese or any semblance of bbq sauce. It was a basic grilled union burger. I normally don’t get bothered by bad experiences at restaurants but this was something special, maybe I caught them on a bad day but I think I’ll take my business elsewhere.

I was very disappointed in the food I experienced Friday while I was visiting the city. The food was subpar. I had a 3 meat plate, ribs, brisket, and sausage with cabbage and Mac. The sausage was Luke warm, the brisket tasted bland, the ribs also. No seasoning at all, the ribs and brisket did not have a smoke ring either. The cabbage was overcooked, the Mac wasn’t good either. I was very disappointed, my lady had the same experience and she also had green beans that tasted like it was out of a can. I’m sorry, I don’t normally leave reviews but I spent a lot of money for subpar food.

My experience was very bad. When I ordered the food, they told me to wait. It took a long time. When I went to ask, they told me they were going to check. But then they realized it was already ready and they had it on the Front. When they gave it to me, it was already very cold. But they never told me they had it ready. They lack a lot of communication at the front.

Dry. Expensive. Tastes bad. 2nd worst bbq I’ve ever had. Very disappointed. Don’t bother ordering an appetizer it will come out after your food no matter how long you wait. I had the three meat plate. So I got a little taste of everything. It was all so dry! And the brisket and turkey were like tasteless dust in your mouth. I have never had barbecue this dry before. And no taste except for the sausage which was edible. This was sooo disappointing. I was really hungry and in the mood for some barbecue. The 4 dollar beer didn’t help. Also I was never once checked on after sitting down. But the main thing is the super bad food and the high price. It’s not worth it at all. I regret coming here. A huge waste of money for one person to eat a really bad meal. I would have rather gone hungry for lunch. I kinda feel like I was scammed out of 30 dollars. Never coming back. 2nd worst barbecue that I have ever had. I don’t know how this place has such high reviews my experience was not good at all. Also they won’t accept 100 dollar bills so have your credit card ready.

Sandwich was cold, served on a soggy white roll with nothing else when I asked for toppings, Mac and cheese was bland (velveeta?), bacon cheese fried were soggy and stuck (microwaved) to the paper.

CALL IT LIKE I SEE IT! Dont be fooled by the pictures. This place is 🗑. I ordered the brisket plate. Where I'm from in Texas, you serve brisket with bark! That's where the flavor is. They served us the left over cuts🤨. Also I didn't even order jalapeños and they mixed jalapeños with my pickels and onions. Maybe they assumed I wanted jalapeños. The empty parking lot should have been a sign. I'm definitely gonna spread the word and will never return.
