For me, this was one of the best experiences in Budapest🌱This Moroccan restaurant is absolutely amazing. The food is delicious, everything is fresh and full of flavor🌱The service is excellent, and all the staff are incredibly kind and welcoming. I truly recommend this place it really deserves at least one Michelin star 🍀
Absolutely fantastic Moroccan restaurant close to the Parliament. My personal favorite is Seafood Tajin, a must order. Incredibly rich, aromatic and full of perfectly balanced spices. If you’re visiting, I highly recommend going for this dish. We also tried Mixed Salad Platter, which was fresh, colorful and a great choice to try various appetizers. Shrimp Briwat was another highlight. Crispy pastry filled with shrimp, vermicelli, mushrooms and olives, packed with flavor and beautifully prepared. What truly elevated the whole experience was the service. The waiters were exceptionally kind, attentive and genuinely welcoming, making us feel taken care of from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back.🥘🍤
We had an amazing dinner experience at Majorelle. The staff and owner are incredibly kind and the service was impeccable. We opted for the chef’s selection with wine pairing, we only mentionned our allergies/preferences - and every dish was a wonderful surprise. We enjoyed 2 cold appetizers with eggplant and potatoes, 2 hot appetizers, 2 main courses and 2 desserts. The wines were excellent, very special and paired perfectly the food. We will come back and recommend it !
We discovered this restaurant on the third day of our visit to Budapest, and it was great. We ended up going back two more times before the end of our trip. The dishes were excellent, but the real star was the couscous — it was heavenly, absolutely amazing 🤍
Fantastic place! Tasty Moroccan food, heavenly desserts, and a DJ who created such a fun, authentic vibe. The staff were also incredibly friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend! ✨
When you visit Budapest, Majorelle is definitely a restaurant that we recommend. Get ready for having a taste bomb effect in your mouth! :) The food is delicious and portions are fulfilling. We specially enjoyed the beef tajin with prunes and the shrimp briwat. Every food was packed with flavor and spices. We did photos of the desserts (we forgot to do it with the main dishes :)), for dessert lovers I would recommend to try all of them! However my personal favourite was the layered sweet dish with rose water and nuts. The atmosphere was also outstanding, the waiters are warm and welcoming, so the staff took the whole experience to the next level. Thanks for the great service and the authentic Moroccan vibes. When we will be visiting Budapest again we will be definitely coming back!
Very cozy restaurant, food, service quality and atmosphere is top notch. It was my first time morroccoan food and I will definitely come here again. Highly recommended.
We had a great experience at this Moroccan restaurant! There were five of us, and we ordered a sharing plate of delicious briwats and salads, which was more than enough for everyone. For dessert, we tried a special orange blossom cream dessert, which was a real treat. The cocktails were excellent, especially the restaurant’s signature cocktail, the Exotic Connection, which was our favorite. The atmosphere was pleasant, the team professional, and the flavors of the food were impeccable. We will definitely be back!
Great food and must go if you are visiting. Everything is à la carte so plan course accordingly. Mo the owner is friendly guy and wants to know you.
Absolutely phenomenal. This was, without a doubt, the best food I’ve ever had in a restaurant and my Moroccan boyfriend said it tasted exactly like home. We would genuinely return to Budapest just to eat here again.
Majorelle is a true gem for anyone seeking an authentic Moroccan dining experience. Recently, I had the pleasure of dining there with a group of 20, and our evening was nothing short of spectacular. With a predetermined four-course menu featuring cold and hot appetizers, soup, a choice of chicken or beef as the main course, and a selection of desserts, the meal was a feast for the senses. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The wait staff orchestrated the evening with precision and grace, ensuring that every member of our party was served simultaneously at each course. Their attentiveness was remarkable; no request went unmet, and they managed the entire evening seamlessly, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. The food itself was a revelation. Each dish was bursting with vibrant flavors, clearly prepared with the utmost care and skill. The presentation was equally impressive—artful and inviting, each plate was a visual delight that heightened the anticipation for the first bite. From the richly spiced appetizers to the hearty and satisfying main courses, every element of the meal reflected the culinary artistry of Morocco. Adding to the experience was Majorelle's ambiance, which transported us to the heart of Marrakech. The décor was stunningly authentic, with intricate patterns, warm lighting, and plush seating that exuded comfort and charm. The gentle waft of aromatic incense further enhanced the sensory journey, immersing us in the culture and hospitality of Morocco. Overall, Majorelle delivered an unforgettable dining experience. The combination of exquisite cuisine, flawless service, and enchanting ambiance made for an extraordinary evening. Whether you’re planning a gathering or simply looking for an exceptional meal, I wholeheartedly recommend Majorelle. It’s a place where every detail is thoughtfully considered, and every guest is treated like royalty. Another visit to Majorelle on May 22 and it was equally fantastic.
This is one of the best if not the best place to have a lovely dinner in Budapest.. where to start? First with staff: most welcoming and professional and polite staff i ever meet.. the Chef Saad came to our table to ask about the feedback of his ART.. owner Mo is brilliant person and true leader by nature making everyone there literally feels home and family… to the food i wont talk much as you must try it ( i recommend trying the triangle starters filled with shrimps -forgot the name)food was super tasty , fresh , and rich with taste of North African spicies… here comes my favourit part - the vibe- super nice relaxed vibe blend by music and stunning decorations (which i got to know it is actually hand made by the owners wife)… over all it is an experience rather than just a dinner in a nice restaurant… and best thing location in central and no other places near by which made it unique and not in a busy street… if i can give 100/10 i would..🥰
As I stepped foot into Majorelle, I felt like this place was a lot more different than most restaurants I’ve sat at in Budapest. Majorelle sets a standard of class and elegance, coupled with an aromatic scent in the air that truly makes you feel like you’re sitting in Rabat. This is something a lot of themed restaurants fail to do so in the vicinity of the parliament which is located within the main district of Budapest, so you could say Majorelle is a true diamond located right in the heart of this beautiful city. I have to talk about the service as well and I can truly say Majorelle goes above and beyond with providing high levels of excellent service, I was immediately greeted and sat on my table by a lovely waitress who I had unfortunately not caught her name and this interaction was immediately followed by meeting a kind hearted waiter named Shawn. Shawn was my one of my favourite parts of this experience as he was extremely helpful, kind, and took the time out to genuinely ask your interests and guide you better to order your food. He was never a second too late and always made sure that the food was served in a timely manner. Thank you Shawn. The food, where to begin about the food. Absolutely and positively fantastic! I had never had Moroccan food prior to this and I’m so happy that this was my first introduction to this beautiful cuisine. I am not a food critic by no means but I’m sure the greats such as Mimi Sheraton & Henri Gault would be absolutely delighted by the taste, texture & quality at Majorelle. To top they had fantastic cocktails! I would recommend Majorelle to anyone local in Budapest or visiting as I would love to share the experience I had and I know others will feel how I felt when I stepped into Majorelle for the first time.
Special thanks to Thomas for his great service. We came during lunch for the first time, unfortunately the lamb couscous was not available. Nevertheless we had a great experience with the Tajine and decided to come back for dinner the next day to try the lamb couscous. No regrets, it was excellent. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Thanks for the experience!
Very satisfying experience of food, outstanding customer service and unique atmosphere. There is no even close alike places
Amazing food and really chic atmosphere! My husband is Moroccan and he said the food they cook is exactly how it’s supposed to be. Love it!
Excellent service, excellent food and excellent atmosphere, I don’t need to ask for anything more! A must go-to in Budapest!
Some friends and I tried Majorelle tonight, and it was the most amazing experience! The staff was so friendly, when we told them it was our first time in Budapest they gave us so many recommendations of things to do. The food was amazing and the ambiance of the restaurant was so nice, and at the end they were even kind enough to give us free wine. Mohammad and Tomasz were amazing, as well as the rest of the staff!
It s a very warm and wonderful place. We ordered many dishes and all of them were wonderful and super tasty. All the staff are so nice and friendly. The decoration was so cosy and brings back memories of Morocco in the heart of budapest. We will definitely visit it again!!
A Taste of Morocco in Budapest A culinary gem has emerged. Majorelle has only been open since the beginning of February, but I've already been there twice – that's how much I love it. The decor isn't a typical Moroccan style; it's got more of a contemporary feel to it. Think sleek lines and minimalist touches mixed with hints of Moroccan design. It's a fresh take that sets it apart. The flavours of the food took me right back to my trip to Morocco last year; each dish a blend of flavours, crafted to capture the essence of Moroccan cuisine. From tagines with fragrant spices (the beef with prunes is my favourite) to the jawhara dessert with delicious layers of flaky pastry, every bite is so good. The staff, with their warmth and hospitality, elevate the dining experience. I wish nothing but success for this establishment. May its doors remain open for years to come, spreading the taste of Morocco in Budapest. If you're in Budapest and craving something different, do yourself a favour and check out this gem of a restaurant.
I visited Majorelle for the second time yesterday, and I loved it even more! As a Moroccan, I can confidently say the food is incredibly authentic—truly capturing the essence of Moroccan cuisine. The quality is outstanding, and the staff, including the owners, are incredibly friendly. The atmosphere, music—everything was perfect! I highly recommend giving it a try. Thank you, Majorelle, for an unforgettable night!
Sophisticated Moroccan restaurant with elegant decor & interiors. Enjoyed the Majorelle salad, Vege couscous, cheese briwat. All were so flavourful & delicious. Thomas was so kind, patient, & attentive. He gave great local tips & recommendations. The rest of staff were also welcoming. Thanks for a wonderful dining experience! Will definitely return. Cheers from the U.S. 🇺🇲💯💜
Best Moroccan place in budapest by far! Nice ambience, pleasant service and the food was packed with flavors! We tried several appetizers and of course the tagines. Our favorites were the beef tagine and beef tongue. Thank you for a wonderful experience - we will be back!
Very pleasant atmosphere Food was delicious and the waitress was very kind. For sure will be back
I had an amazing experience at Majorelle in Budapest! The service was excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance felt like a journey straight to Morocco. The tajine with prunes and the Tangia were prepared to perfection, just like in Marrakech. If you've never tried Moroccan cuisine, this is the perfect place to start. Let it be your first step toward exploring the rich flavors of Morocco and who knows, maybe even inspire you for a trip to our beautiful country!
The food was delicious, the staff is so polite and the restaurant has very beautiful interior. It’s worth trying. :)
The food was excellent. We got 3 tagines, vegetable couscous, french fries, pastry platter, bread, dip and drinks. The strawberry basil lemonade was amazing. Loved every bite. Service was perfect.
This place is the best in town. I can’t recommend it more, everything was impeccable, the food was very delicious, the service was 10/10 high quality, the people working there are very nice and cheerful and they will do their best to make you happy. The atmosphere and the modern design of the restaurant with that traditional touch is also amazing.
This place is absolutely recommended; Photos would say as much your five senses might receive; quality food and spices ; reasonable preparation time; amazing cocktail; friendly staffs; respectful; music; interior design; clean toilets. Not super crowded and noisy.
Delicious maroccan food. Very nice welcome and amazing cocktails. I really recommend it :)
Recently dined at Majorelle in Budapest and had a fantastic experience. The Moroccan cuisine was authentic and delicious, with generous portions that truly satisfied. The presentation of the dishes was a feast for the eyes, complementing the authentic table setup that transported me straight to Morocco. Highly recommend
Very cute and beautifully decorated restaurant The couscous was very delicious and authentic like the one you have in Morocco. The staff are very kind and friendly
We reserved a table even before our visit to Budapest. Picked the restaurant for 4 reasons. In no particular order; Halal; Michelin; Moroccan; Trip Advisor Rating. We are not disappointed. Excellent ambience, awesome food (very different flavors, so connoisseur be aware) and generally great experience. Thank you team Majorelle.
Delightful if I had to sum up my review in one word. This was by far my favorite meal of 2025. If you’re looking for a great experience on top of that, this is your place to go to. The staff are absolute gems and the owner was fantastic, we ended up staying longer because we were yapping. The wine pairings that came with the meal we’re absolutely wonderful and I have finally been proven wrong about my statement that eggplant is not good. The general experience was very pleasant and the music was great, had to add their Spotify playlist to my account. Now about the food: for some reason people thing Moroccan food as heavy but it was amazing and light yet full of flavor and I had to be rolled out of the restaurant since I was very full after the meal. I came here on a trip and this restaurant is my #1 reason to return to Budapest.
Had dinner here during a recent trip and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and attention to detail. The interior is stylish without feeling pretentious, and the service was warm and attentive throughout the evening. The menu blends Mediterranean and Moroccan influences nicely — beautifully presented dishes with thoughtful flavors. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality and overall experience make it worthwhile for a special evening or client dinner. A good choice if you appreciate refined dining in a relaxed, elegant setting.
Majorelle is a true gem in Budapest! The food is delicious and beautifully presented, but the desserts are absolutely amazing — a must-try! The atmosphere is warm and authentic, and the owner’s hospitality makes you feel genuinely welcome. You can tell there’s real passion behind every detail. Highly recommended!
We were warmly greeted by Yassin who made sure that he offered any advice we might need with the menu. As we eat anything and have previously been to Morocco, we opted for the Chef's Choice which gave use two cold starters, two hot starters, two main courses (plus saffron rice) and two desserts. Every single dish was both authentically Moroccan and absolutely delicious. Yassin was a hugely engaging waiter, clearly proud to be a Moroccan serving in such a great Moroccan restaurant. Prices are tremendous value for the quality of food on offer and it was, by far, our best meal in Budapest. Would recommend to everyone.
Never had Moroccan food before, this restaurant blew me away. Food was fantastic. Servers were extremely personable and patient. And the owner came around to every table and was extremely sincere and welcoming. 10/10 all around
Nothing but 5 stars for Mo and the team at Majorelle. It was our first time enjoying Moroccan food and the owner patiently took his time walking us through each of the dishes and made some great recommendations. Not to be missed are seafood pan, chicken bastilla, and beef briefs. We went into the meal not very hungry but were convinced to try the jawhara and boy were we thankful we listened. If and when we find ourselves in Budapest again we will certainly be back!
Authentic Moroccan Fine Dining at Majorelle – Budapest I recently had the pleasure of dining at Majorelle in Budapest, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The restaurant offers authentic Moroccan cuisine of the highest standard — beautifully presented, rich in flavor, and clearly prepared with great care and expertise. Every dish we tried was a celebration of traditional Moroccan flavors, with a modern, elegant touch. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the ingredients felt fresh and thoughtfully sourced. The service was impeccable — warm, attentive, and professional, adding to the overall experience without ever feeling overbearing. The ambiance was equally impressive: stylish yet cozy, transporting us straight to North Africa in the heart of Budapest. If you're looking for a unique culinary experience in Budapest, Majorelle is a must-visit. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates refined food and top-tier service.
It was our first time trying Moroccan cuisine, but not the last. The food was more than amazing, it was very special as a Hungarian, never tasted anything like this before. The service was out of this world, we received the help we needed, but also spiced with humor, and it made the dinner even more special. Thank you for the experience!
Coming from a Moroccan the briwat chicken/shrimp/beef were just amazing Chicken tajine was good but salty Fries I wish they were homemade(they got the frozen ones) Zaalok was great Bread was great Drinks were amzing The almond briwat dessert ,amazing Harira was just disappointing,no flavours The couscous was amazing For atmosphere i just wish there was more Moroccan songs,it was nice tho Service is top notch
I visited Majorelle in Budapest expecting an authentic Moroccan dining experience, but unfortunately the food did not represent Moroccan cuisine. The dishes lacked the typical Moroccan flavors and spices, and overall the taste did not reflect traditional Moroccan food. On a positive note, the service was excellent. Our waiter, Yassine, was very nice, friendly, and kind. He checked on us regularly between courses and made sure we were comfortable, which we truly appreciated. The ambiance was okay, however, I would advise adding traditional Moroccan music, such as Andalusian music, to further enhance the atmosphere. I also sincerely hope the restaurant considers hiring 100% Moroccan chefs in the future, as this could greatly improve the authenticity and true representation of Moroccan cuisine. This review comes from a Moroccan perspective, and overall, while the service and setting were pleasant, the food did not meet expectations for an authentic Moroccan experience.
As someone who absolutely loves Moroccan cuisine, I couldn’t pass on the opportunity to try out Majorelle, which has featured in the most recent Michelin Guide 2025. Overall I would say my experience was good but it did not meet my overall expectations. Yes the food was tasty (especially the chicken pastilla) but the beef tajin was surprisingly tough and difficult to chew given it’s supposed to be slow cooked. Also, I found that the tajin in general was very dry, with very little to soak up and eat with bread. Even though the restaurant was very quiet, my food also took longer than it should have to arrive, albeit fresh and piping hot. Generally speaking, Majorelle is fairly priced and decent value for money and I’m inclined to give them another shot next time I’m in Budapest. Let’s see if they can redeem themselves.
Top notch service. Attentive and friendly. Thank you. Sadly the food experience did not match the service level. Our prawn salad was super salty. We had to send it back. The beef tanjin also didn’t bring us back to Morocco 🇲🇦 missing some flavour. The music was too loud, couldn’t have a decent convos.
The food was fine and the prices were reasonable, so overall the meal itself was okay. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow and the staff didn’t seem very attentive, which affected the experience. When we paid in cash, there was some confusion with the change and we had to ask for it. In the end, we left the change anyway, but the situation felt uncomfortable. With more attentive service, this place could be much better.
I had been wanting to try this Moroccan restaurant for a while, so I finally went with my friends for Iftar at 5:30 PM. The atmosphere was nice, the food was good, and the tea and almond briwate were perfect. But one of my friends arrived late, and as soon as she finished eating and we had our tea around 7:30 PM, we were told we had to leave because they needed the table meanwhile the upstairs was almost empty. I was really looking forward to coming back, but honestly, this kinda ruined it for me.
We visited based on the food pics and ratings but were a bit disappointed with overpriced food. While we’ve had Moroccan food before, the flavors here felt overpowering—too much cumin in everything, even the olives, which masked the appetizers’ taste. The chicken lemon tahini was okay but slightly dry, and the bottom was more burnt than smoky. However, the service was nice.
The restaurant is promising but for this price range I’d expect the overall experience to be more elaborate. While the waiters who served us were extremely kind and polite, they had 0 knowledge of the wine list or how to serve wine. When I pay over 25k for a bottle, I’d expect some expertise. The Harira soup was missing some spice and texture, while the vegetarian tagine, the rice and the eggplant spread had all been yummy. Tip : Serving the spread with some bread and the pie with some salad on the side would level up the experience. The last thing I didn’t like was that at the end we were told to tip if we liked the service, because the 13% service fee goes to the restaurant. I already have a hard time to accept the general service fee in Hungary that I have to pay whether I like the service or not, but asking for extra tip on top of that is a lot (other restaurants do it as well). Overall a good experience, but not one that invites me to return.
The octopus dish was extremely overpriced (13,500 HUF) and unfortunately had the texture of a tire. A real shame, because the seasoning was actually very good. (Update after the restaurant’s reply) Thank you for the kind and professional response — I really appreciate it. That said, at that price point, I was truly expecting a consistently high-quality experience. I’d be hesitant to come back and take the risk of facing the same issue again. Still, I hope others get to enjoy the dish as it’s meant to be — with the tenderness you described.
