Had the prime rib sandwich. It came with a red beet, Mac salad, garlic bread. $13.95 it was wonderful. This place as been in Williamsville for many years. Service was fast and spot on. Will be going back.

Fantastic meals...great service...my go to place. Be sure to say hello to the owner, Joe. He's the tall guy who makes you feel at home. First time for me, but definitely not my last!!!!

Great corner bar run by a wonderful family. The food is good, prices are reasonable and the friendliness of the owners, staff and neighborhood customers are a delight. I make sure I stop in whenever I am in Cheektowaga, NY.

Family owned and run restaurant that is cozy and different. It has some classics like warm turkey dinner and split pea soup just like grandma makes it. Good priced booze it’s a Buffalo favorite

I had only a fish fry to go, it was quite good. During my short wait in there, people chatted me up familiarly. I don't know why but it gave me this feeling like I was in a noire spy novel.

This is always our "go to" place. Family-owned by some nice Irish folks. Great food, friendly bar and great service. If they are serving the pan-fried fish, be sure to try it.

This place is a time capsule. High-quality and tasty food, low prices and a cozy Irish-inspired atmosphere. The place is always filled with smiling faces and friendly, casual staff. If you're looking for a place that defines a Buffalo experience, go there.

Typical Buffalo fare but with a family twist. Old school Irish bar/restaurant. Decent beer selection; everything from Genesee to Southern Tier. The fish fry is killer! Make sure to get there early on Fridays during Lent, or be prepared to wait.

T

The best fish fry in WNY. Hands down make sure you get the coleslaw as a side. This restaurant brings it all with a friendly staff.

Great food. Small but quaint. Definitely recommend the fish fry. Don't forget to check the special board. Always has great choices.

We had family from out of town tonite we choose this place for the awesome food and service (Karen). We were a party of 10. The only bad thing was the super small water glasses really get some bigger ones please or put large pitchers on table

The place is fabulous homemade cooking! Great Place to go with friendly faces! The family is fantastic and so is the food and drink. Our waitress Sue - is the BEST! Love her!

The best place to get a fish fry in Buffalo. The fish is always perfect. Their fries, their stuffed shrimp, and their cheesy garlic bread is great as well. I love the rye bread served at the table while you wait too. You can eat in, or get take out, either way you'll be happy. It's just a great place.

Went for a Tpm and Jerry and lunch. The onion soup was very good. Shared a club sandwich and wings. Both were delicious. The Tom and Jerry was excellent. My favorite place for one.

I've been going to McPartlan's for years! Love their food and their atmosphere. I now live in Charlotte, NC, and will be making a special trip to McPartlan's around July 7th. There's a "Beef on Weck" sandwich and some crispy onion rings there with my name on them. Can't wait! :) Yum, num, num!

Love the family and atmosphere. Mike and Uncle Joe entertain all, whether you're a local or passing through town. Always a good laugh with them, and cold drinks and wonderful food!

It's a small restaurant and bar well-known for many years for great food. I was not disappointed. The food and service were above average. The waitress went above and beyond her job in taking care of our very large group. They do have a big back room. Everyone left satisfied and happy.

C

Had a nice fish fry, with tax was 15.50 or so. Was nice they serve a piece of rye bread. I had the fries and German potato salad. My friend had the coleslaw. He said the coleslaw was really good. The fish was nice, not overly breaded.

Great neighborhood locale , ordered during quarantine and they went above and beyond! Makes me wish i enjoyed more pints there before this nonsense. Sandwiches tenders and fries were great, awesome price to quality ratio. Keep it up guys, thanks!

First time here for Fish Fry. The place was packed. But within 10 mins had a table. Sat down. Waitress came right over for our drink orders. We ordered our food. Less then 10 mins had our food. The waitress was very nice. Well recommended and you won't be disappointed.

Always a great meal served by friendly staff. Great family owned establishment. Probably the best fish fry around! All scratch food and new items are always popping up on the menus.

Had a long drive from Rhode Island. Perfect place for a late dinner. Good drinks. Great food. And amazing people. Bartender and the other patrons were very welcoming. Will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

Awesome service. Great people in the bar. Bartender Mike McPartland extremely friendly. My wings were crispy and tasty and the home made blue cheese reviled any name brand. It was unique and tasty.

Always a solid place to find a good meal. Not much has changed there and I have not been there in some three odd years or so. But the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. And the staff is very friendly that's why this place has been around since the 1950s.

K

Gave 4 stars for atmosphere but I think it's the old Irish charm. I do think the curtains definitely need a change. Food and service are always great. Haven't had a bad meal here.

They have good food here and the staff is super friendly. Not many gluten free options. Had a Ruben no bread. We come often and can hang and drink and enjoy good company

It was a 94th bday lunch. Just my birthday gal, and me. We had a friendly tender of the bar room, giving great care and fun. It's hard to deliver if it's not your thing. But he was even sweet enough to sing her Happy Birthday ..They say, a picture says a 1000 words, what do you think?

My husband and I were there last Tuesday evening, I had the Bean soup, which was delicious. I also had the fish fry, as always, never greasy, the best! My Husband had the Hot Roast Beef, which didn't disappoint. Highly recommend trying McPartlan's, if you haven't been yet!

Our food was delicious. Seafood cooked perfect. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. Potato soup was delicious and clearly homemade. Our server Norma was great and seemed to know just about everyone in the joint. Great small town feel at a family restaurant with awesome owners. Can't wait to return.

We haven’t been here in years. It’s been established since the 50s & probably hasn’t changed much except the family generations who keep it going. Good homemade dinners & sandwiches very reasonably priced as are the drinks. It feels like a trip back in time. Highly recommend!

Classic Bar and grill with an updated diner atmosphere, the food was very good, the fish fry needed a few more mins in the fryer to be perfect but I enjoyed mine. We both loved the fries. The Coconut Shrimp appetizers were great! An extensive list of wines and beers, otherwise nothing special for drinks - water/coffee/sodas.

I found this gem of a place online last minute, so I brought a tour bus group in there of 50 people on short notice. They took great care of my people and the group was so happy with everything!! The wait staff never lost their smile as they took care of us. I will definitely recommend this place to other tour groups. Thank you for everything you guys did last night! Yall are awesome!! We had a Buffalo Friday night fish fry. It was fantastic. My wife and I were visiting from So. Indiana, and took my brother and sister in for dinner. Wow. I only wished we lived closer to this hidden gem in Cheektowaga!

A bar and a restaurant that has been a staple for many years. You can't go wrong with a thing that you order. I must say, this is one of the best fish fry dinners you will ever have! The service is wonderful, it feels like you are amongst family. Great prices to boot! Dinner for 3, including 2 alcoholic beverages, and tax, was only $58. (Yesterday, I had lunch with a friend elsewhere. The bill was only $4 less than tonight, but it was only for 2 people, and we had 1 Pepsi, and one water, no alcohol. ) If you want a good home cooked meal, go to McPartlan's Corner!!!

This place is worth it. Quaint little place. The food was amazing. The portions are huge. I ordered the liver and onions with a baked potato, boyfriend got Seafood platter and a cheeseburger. The cheeseburger he wanted no veggies. It was really good and we will definitely be a repeat customer.

Great food! Good drinks! Family neighborhood hangout. Friends or solo. Friendly staff. Take out, Dine in. Just great! Very tasty Crock of French Onion Soup, fantastic corned beed reuban sandwich, fresh Bavarian pretzels with home made horseradish mustard, Country Style Ribs with homemade BBQ sauce..and more! My family loves the homestyle goodness! Every visit, the quality and flavor is consistent. Still very good! Update: I stand by my former statements. Other than daily special menu changes, the everyday menu is chock full of tasty goodness. More old fashioned style experience. The waitstaff works hard. Visit often enough, you too might be called by name when you walk in!

Came in here to get a big lunch for the long drive home. They had a salmon special sonI took advantage and it was very good. Portion was generous and cooked perfectly. The waitress was very nice, checked on me frequently but not to the point of annoying at all. Inexpensive too. Would definitely come back.

They have been around for years, there seafood is fresh and shipped in daily and the prices are very reasonable. Full bar and they serve Tom and Jerry's in the winter! Oh and the clam chowder on Friday's is hard to beat

Ole Oak dinner type feel. Food was good. Rye bread was fresh. GUINNESS was on tap. Very much what you expect from a Irish pub. Service was excellent.

Great place for a fish fry but they also have lots of other food options as well as beverages. Our food and service were great and the staff is very welcoming. Prices are reasonable. It can be very busy at times.

I have been here twice before, and both times I got the burger, which is really really good and seasoned amazingly. The decor is half classic diner/restaurant and corner bar. The burger is worth the trip.

A family favorite for casual food and drinks in a friendly local tavern. Not an extensive menu, but plenty of protein choices including roast beef, chicken and seafood. Daily specials include corned beef, turkey, prime rib and a well-regarded Friday fish fry. Plenty of appetizer and sandwich options are also available, as are snacks like chicken wings. Food can also be served at the bar. I lost count of the fresh dessert options - at least 8 different pies on my last visit. Fresh seafood from Boston is also on offer. The majority of the dishes are made from scratch and are served in nice portions. The place can get crowded on busy nights as they have dedicated regulars, but there is room in the bar to enjoy a cocktail while you wait, so don't let a full parking lot put you off. 60 years of family ownership and quality food deserves a loyal following, and McPartlan's has that in spades.

S
Sandra Reil

Nice waitresses in old neighborhood place. Good haddock fish fry and good soft rye bread. A decent number of beers on draft. Food came out quick. Parking is tough if in street side spots, esp handicap spots. You're better off trying for a spot in lot in rear of building. Entrance is goofy with 2 unmarked doors-left one to bar area and rt one to dining room side. There is a room in back that can be closed off for special uses.

J
Jim Bentley

Definitely a dive, but was one of our favorite stops on our trip to Buffalo! Was 930am, and had a small crowd. They were all welcoming and fun. Gave us a rundown on places to hit while we were there. Bartender was great!

A
Angela Sampman

They have a wonderful salad in a seasoned cracker bowl. It's fabulous. Our waitress on the. other hand is not up to what I consider a decent trained waitress. The other 2 waitresses seemed to be people oriented. Ours was fast moving but didn't care to share the specials with us as we cdn't see them across the whole dining room. And just had a standoffs attitude. I felt rushed as to being able to decide what I really wanted. So nil was the tip.

Recently started coming here with my father. I lived near here but never eat here. Food is pretty good. Came for the fish fry. Got to get there early cause they fill up fast. Older generation of people come to eat there. Outdated atmosphere. Service was good.

Wow definitely impressed after our first visit. Food was delicious, portions were huge, service was great, and dinner for two was still under $40 with tip. My wife had a burger that was super juicy and so big she couldn't even finish it and I had chicken in a basket which was four pieces of fried chicken with an impossibly crispy outside and a super moist inside that was to die for. Both came with fries and mine came with a bowl of really good homemade soup. I liked the old time family bar/restaurant atmosphere with a bar at one end and tables at the other. I can see why this was my parents favorite spot in the 70's. Definitely a hit with the older crowd judging by the clientele yesterday. We got there at 5:00 on a Saturday and sat right down but it was getting crowded by the time we left.

JOE D.

Pretty good experience. Sat in the bar area to give server some work. She was great. The coat rack in the bar on the other end of the tables needs to go boys just taking up space. Weather is getting better let's move forward. Food was good, service was good. I'll be back. Btw....we had broiled Cajun fish fry. Tasty!

J
Joseph Sygnatur

Amazing Friday fish fry but rest of food just okay. Had wings yesterday that were very expensive compared to other places and not good at all. I also had an order of their stuffed peppers that were more of a casserole slash overcooked soup mess. I ordered a Diet Coke and I overheard the bartender complaining to my waitress about the fact that I ordered a drink that has free refills.

Pretty cheap place eat. The price is right, just wish the customer service would be better.

This is your typical hometown hangout around the corner. It's got an older crowd and it's not the nicest inside, but the food is pretty good. They are known for their fish fry. Not a place you'd want to take a date, but if you're looking for a good hot turkey sandwich with gravy, this place is for you.

n
nicholas tiede

Interior is very clean but no frills and kind of dated and simple but still kinda cozy. Service was very good , welcoming, exstemely friendly and attentive. Food was not good. It is pretty bland most things seemed like they were cheap store bought bulk canned type items and cheap cuts for meats nothing seemed fresh. I was suprised at the price considering quality and everything seemed 0 effort put into preperation other then opening cans and heating things up. Canned vegitables, instant potatoes, toasted half a hot dog bun as a roll (would bread or actual dinner rolls realy be that much?!) everything was bland and unseasoned no flavor no effort. Soda was some weird generic brand and flat. Considering all the lower quality cheap corner cutting in the kitchen I'd exspect a bill on the lower end too. At this range you can go somewhere with fresh food seasoning and a lil effort put in. It's not that it's unaffordable but you are not getting any quality or effort for what you pay for. If you don't like flavor I guess this is for you.

R
Robert Walters

Sandwich was ok but it was just so petty to actually be charged 35 cents extra for a slice of tomato on my turkey sandwich. The waitress asked if I wanted lettuce tomato and mayo, to which I said yes. Didn't realize this was an upselling opportunity.

A
Anthony Michael

The service couldn't have been much slower. The broiled fish fry even covered in seasonings had almost no flavor $14. The wife got the fantail fried shrimp platter. $14 for 6 overly battered pieces of shrimp and fries and a chunk of garnish that took up half the plate. With two 7ups we got a bill for $39. I live very close and haven't been there in at least 10 yrs and now I'm remembering why.

T
Terri Legierski

My husband and I love your restaurant. Have been patrons for years, as were our parents. We had lunch on 3/15 and for the first time ever, disappointed. I had the open face prime rib sandwich. I ordered it rare. It was medium and cold. Had to ask for horseradish which was way too old, dry and tasteless. However, the beet garnish and fries were good. My husband was really disappointed in the corned beef and cabbage. Corned beef was dry and rubbery; sliced too thinly. No rye bread, no mustard. Everyone has an "off day". We'll be back; know you'll do better. Terri & Mike Legierski

J
Jean

The last two meals I’ve had there were not good. I didn’t complain, but the fish was undercooked & the corn beef was old and smelled bad in the Reuben. I may never return.

M
Marianne Patterson

Not memorable at all. Service was extremely slow. Husband got broiled fish w/ Cajun seasoning but fish had no flavor. I got the shrimp platter and it came with 6 overcooked, over breaded shrimp. The garnish took up half my plate & we each had a 7up. Bill came to $39. Over priced for poor tasting food and poor service. We even had to get our own silverware as none was provided to us.

J
Joseph Blind

We waited 1 1/2 hours for our food .seven to twelve of us have been meeting at Mcpartlins for years. Food was ok...fried bologna was burned. Service was terrible. We will be checking out some other spots for our gatherings. Valerie Blind

R
Rob Catalano

This used to be a great place to eat. They had good food at reasonable prices and very friendly attentive service. That has changed in the last couple of years. In addition to raising the menu prices, McPartlan's is employing servers that are not as friendly or attentive to the customer's needs.

d
daily good vibes

Live close by decided to give them a try. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. First the server constantly coughed in her hand then proceeded to handle food and other objects in the restaurant. The food (corned neef and cabbage) had no taste no seasoning and the staff had the nerve to say "I've been serving that all day" (I'm wondering who exactly enjoyed that) then when I was ready to go it took way too long to receive my bill. Staff was friendly which saved it a one star. Maybe I tried the wrong thing but I was completely disappointed.

A
Anthony Franzi

Went there yesterday, may 18, 2023. Wife and I had a fish fry. It was terrible!!!! The fish and or batter had an off taste. I think fish was getting spoiled. We have been going there for many years, always good. Maybe new cook or different owners.

C
Charlie Z

I ordered their "famous" fish fry and my wife had chicken fingers. When our food came, I thought they mistakenly gave me a "mini" fish fry. I wasn't sure if it was or not, I just figured I would review the bill when we received it. My "beer battered" fish was approximately seven inches in length and no more than two and a quarter inches at its' widest point. I couldn't imagine what a mini fish fry would look like. Heck, the plate was no wider than ten inches. Between both dishes, I don't think there was a product that may have been prepped in the restaurant's kitchen other than my macaroni salad, and that was tough to determine anyways. In other words, nothing homeade. The french fries and chicken fingers were bulk foods from a distributor or possibly even Sam's Club. Nothing I couldn't have done in my own kitchen. The chicken fingers actually had the customary gristle you find when you buy it from the store. We had to have hit a Friday night where the kitchen staff was on vacation. There was nothing special or unique about any of the food. The fish looked as if it came from bulked packaging too. The place certainly is not afraid to flaunt their award winning accolades for being one of the "best" places in Buffalo to go for a fish fry. And that is what prompted me to come here to write a review. It wasn't awful, I ate my food. But there is no way, no way, NO WAY, that the food could be considered for best of anything. This was my first time here for a fish fry. I have heard people say good things and there were items posted on the walls recognizing McPartlin's for having a quality fish fry. I don't mind giving establishments a second chance. But this first chance was NOT anywhere close to the expectations. There was nothing award winning about the dish that was placed in front of me. And, when I reviewed the bill, it did not indicate I had ordered the mini fish fry. I can only guess the kitchen staff was out on vacation.

Food was very bland. I had a chicken club sandwich that had no flavor and barely any bacon. My husband said his fish fry was just ok. Our waitress seemed annoyed that she had to work.

Another fish fry let down. First timer at McPartlans, always heard good things but never was there. Party of 4, 2 fish fries, turkey club sandwich and chicken finger dinner. Club looked great, wife said it was. You can't really mess up chicken fingers so......my friends fish came out first, about 7-8 minutes before the rest of table was served. Was explained that since he asked for separate check the kitchen takes care of easy orders first. OK. His beer battered fish was definitely undercooked but he ate it. When mine came out it was very small ( I didn't order the half) and it was mush. Any batter that was on it was gone. Sent that back. Had 2 beers while the rest of party ate. The beer was good but I will not be back.

T
Tim K (KWOL)

You can't get a turkey sandwich without stale bread. You can't get a burger cooked meduim, it's either raw or over cooked. The waitresses can't handle multiple tables and become very flustered when asked for anything after you have been served. Honestly it feels like a place that lost it's standards a long time ago with no management attempting to make a standard or happy customers. It seems like the only people that go there are the older crowd who like a hole in the wall restaurant and are so afraid to try anything new that they have accepted the poor quality this place has to offer.

J
Jason Wright

Holy cow. Got the seashore platter, haven’t had fried seafood in forever, especially craving fried clams for some reason. I got one ONE fried clam, a small piece of fish with the batter half off upon opening,, this was take out so you can’t expect crispy at all but the fish was very soggy. a few over cooked scallops & overcooked shrimp & a scoop of the blandest potato salad ever created. This place has quite a geriatric vibe, the food is definitely on par with a county nursing home. A thousand other places in WNY that are 100% better.

M
MLB

We waited 50 minutes for a reuben and fried bologna. The waitress couldn't get the cook off his phone. They charged me $3.00 for a soda water. $11.00 for a pint a blue cheese. Never, ever again. They have seen my last nickel.

M
Michael Harris

Terrible! Ordered broiled scallops. Something must have happened in the kitchen because we waited at least 20 minutes for the food. My scallops weren't even warm. Cold to the touch! Had the waitress send them back. She brought back the same ones slightly warm. Didn't taste right. I told her to just bring me a piece of fish. Brought the SAME plate or scallops back...HOT. Told her again to just bring a piece of fish. Finally brought a fish fry. I ate the fish. Brought the check, wasn't comped anything! Lesson learned? Never order the scallops on a Friday during lent!

D
Dave Waryk

First $70 for a carry out dinner to totally absurd I did take both of my orders but for two prime rib that is absurd I understand cost and price increases I am very easy with my money but no I did not leave a tip and I have had bigger prime rib on a sandwich bun compared to what I got tonight bottom line any carry out dinner should not be near that for 2 probably very disappointed will never patronize them again you can easily get a fabulous 12 oz steak dinner at longhorn with all the fixings for $50

D
Danielle Wozniak

We here after not going for many years. The service was ok. We went for a fish fry for good Friday. The fish was very tiny and not very good very disappointed. They bill was very high and not worth the price. Bill was over 120. Would not recommend this place at all. Plus they tried to put 6 people in a both for four people

I was floored at how small the fish dinner was. Quality was not good.. soggy fish.. only took me 2 minutes to get home, so wasn't the drive.. simple piece of bread.. not a dinner roll. Sorry for the bad review... first and last time I eat there.. the bartender was awesome though

The parking lot was packed so I was excited to try the fish fry and didn't mind the wait to be seated the waitress promptly brought us fresh rye and from there on it was a disaster. I ordered a crock of French onion soup and a fish fry and a broiled fish for her. She gave me ample warning that it was going to be a wait but again we were OK with it. So 20 minutes later it comes and looks good except for the salt content was overwhelming. Then as we are sitting there waiting for our entrees other waitresses are noticing that we still have received our meals even though we were sitting there for an hour. Then our waitress offers to take a look in the kitchen and comes back to apologize for forgetting to put the order in. Well after another 15 minute wait they arrived and we were extremely hungry by then but even so we underwhelmed they fries were hot but hardened and the fry was blah the best part of the broiled were the side of beets that came with it. Needless to say that we won't be back ever. And the kicker is they didn't even offer anything off the bill for the inconvenience but the waitress did bring us some Easter candy for our patience thanks but no thanks.

The fish had no flavor or seasoning. Strait crap. The mac salad was trash. The service was very very predudice. I will never go there again. My ice cubes has more flavor

New to this area (Cheektowaga) and heard this place was good and decided to try because it’s so close to us now. Unfortunately, we will never be coming back. Fish was gross, made us sick. We heard the fish fry was award winning and we have zero clue how. We were so underwhelmed. Atmosphere is dated, not inviting, lights flickering, bathrooms terrible. Woman near us complained to server that her food tasted spoiled. We were so excited and I feel like I wasted money and my taste buds on food that night.

We have a family of five and we got there right when it opened. The waitress was really nice but there was only one and it stared to get busy.. the food took a bit to get there which was fine but it was bad! The burger was so greasy it made the bun soggy. The fish fry was tiny and it had really thick skin on back of filet. Not one of us liked their meals and the bill was 100!! Super disappointed because this place has been there for a long time. I wish we would have chosen a different place but it is what it is a seniors place and for ppl the don’t care what they are having to eat

Our group of 8 arrived by 6 pm. We waited quite a while for drink orders to be taken and finally served. People in the main dining area were seated and some served and finished their meals before we ever got served. By 7:15 half of the people left because they are diabetic and could not wait any longer for food. An hour and a half wait for a meal is ridiculous. We have never had such terrible service. Although it has been a while since we came to McPartlans, our previous experiences were very good. I'm sure that we won't be coming back.

Guy at the bar Jon was nice so he gets the star ,Fish & Fries were extremely under cooked. I only went because of the good reviews they had , I guess it depends on who’s cooking that day. 🤢
