Opiniones de Trattoria Aroma Buffalo
This is my second visit and both times the food has been great! Tonight I opted to have 3 appetizers for dinner, the aroma salad, meatballs and calamari brodo. The calamari brodo was exceptional. I love that the owner asks how you are enjoying your dinner. He said the calamari brodo is his grandmother’s recipe. I highly recommend coming here.
Cute place and great service! Definitely coming back. Jeanie was great.
Very nice, I will definitely go there again.
We've been going to this restaurant for many years and it never disappoints. Last night was exceptional. I have several favorites on their regular menu but last night my husband and I shared one of everything on the specials menu and it was outstanding. Icing on the cake was running into old friends on our way out and enjoying a drink at the bar with this special couple... the same friends that introduced us to this restaurant 20 years ago!
Whether you want dinner for just two or a larger party of 8 -10 this is the place to go. The staff at Trattoria Aroma are outstanding and the food is consistently excellent. We were there Friday, this time with a large group, and our evening could not have been better. Mario at the bar had excellent wine recommendations for us and the table service was also top notch. You will love this place!
I absolutely love it here! I dined in on Wednesday and had the pleasure of getting Kim as my waitress. She was so sweet and made my experience here excellent. My food was delicious as well. 10/10 will recommend to my friends and family. I will also recommend to be served by Kim!
We have traveled throughout Italy for vacations and Trattoria Aroma felt like we were right back there. The restaurant was cozy, inviting and warm. We savored every bite of our delicious brunch including the crab cakes, meatball/sausage bake and loaded potatoes. The sauce with the scrumptious meatballs and sausage was authentic and filled with flavor (bury me in that sauce please!). The crab cakes were full of crab without filler and cooked perfectly. The potatoes were loaded with pancetta, spinach and mozzarella. It was difficult to choose from their mouth watering brunch menu, but our choices were perfect. If you live in the area or visit the area, do yourself a favor and have at least one meal or many meals at this beautiful establishment. The chef visited our table as we were basically licking the plates and we expressed to her how much we loved the food and restaurant. Enjoy!
Excellent cocktails, food, service. First time there with friends. Will be back soon! Authentic Italian dishes!
The food was phenomenal 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Sunday Brunch was PERFECT. Highly recommend. Doctor approved ✅💯
Food was great, I had a meeting and I don't eat late but I buy a ton of food to take. They kept asking was everything okay. The owner even came over and introduced himself. Drink selection was not the best, but I would definitely recommend! #ICare
Had a very nice brunch today, crab cake Benedict and nice cup of hot coffee with my lady. Service was excellent and very friendly staff. Stop on in, you won’t be disappointed!!
Tonight was more than an incredible culinary experience! Chef Cortez personally invited my family to join him in the kitchen to assist in the making of our incredible dish! The warm welcome by Patrick and the staff made this a ONCE in a lifetime dining experience. When you get exceptional service and the opportunity to share in the making up close and personal....you know you have found home away from home. Don't visit Buffalo without stopping! Thank you Trattoria Aroma, Chef Cortez and all here that absolutely surprised and delighted all of the senses!
My husband and I went there for brunch yesterday after church, and the food and atmosphere were great! We plan on returning to try out their awesome dinner choices!
INCREDIBLY Accommodating & Attentive to our large group! While in town for a wedding we were able to stroll over to Trattoria from our hotel and "roll" back! They were very accommodating for our large family party including children. The restaurant was lovely the staff was on point and food was AMAZING! It will definitely be on our list of places to visit when we are back in Williamsville. Thank you for a great experience!
This food was AMAZING. I got the fontina pasta special and it was some of the best cheese and pasta I've ever eaten. Incredibly happy!
You'll definitely want to get the espresso martini, the cassata cake, tiramisu (10/10) and lobster ravs! Edit: just came in for brunch, amazing 😍. What we like about this place is that the staff always is so welcoming and makes you feel at home. Counting down the days until their cafe next door opens. Thanks for the great service Jeanie and to the owner!
Excellent Italian food. Doesn't necessarily look like much from the outside, but the food was excellent. All of the pasta was great. Service was also excellent. Pizza oven is really nice and so the pizza was terrific. Focused Italian wine list was pretty good, higher quality than other examples I've seen.
Best Italian-Italian (as opposed to Italian-American, which is also great) in town. I love Italian-American food. I also love Italian food in Italy. I recognize that they are different, though related. I'm reasonably well travelled (including four trips to Italy, though my own heritage is not Italian) and a decent home cook and a bit of an Epicurian. That's the context for this statement: no restaurant I've been to in the US captures the Italian restaurant (in Italy) experience as faithfully as this place. By restaurants in Italy I don't mean the tourist joints on the piazze but the neighborhood places that you go into with a friend or family member who is a regular. Here's why: 1) It isn't just the menu, though that's part of it (carbonara and not chicken French), 2) it is the pacing of the meal which is all important. My wife and I took our time through all the courses and never felt the slightest bit of pressure, which is built into American restaurant culture and not a thing at good places in Italy (or Europe generally). We never felt like we were squatting on a table that needed to get flipped. I can think of another restaurant in town, excellent in its own way, which is in this same space and is much more expensive and fails to get this right. 3) We had a couple cocktails at the bar after dinner (this was a Saturday night and we were Ubering) and it was clear that a solid proportion of the customers were regulars; despite this, we were made to feel like we were part of the crew. Whether fancy bars and restaurants or simple neighborhood joints, something that great joints in Italy and Ireland and England in my experience have in common (which is too often missing in American restaurants) is a genuine feeling of true hospitality, that doesn't feel fake, and this place definitely has that. Now, some notes on the food, not covering everything: Cacio e pepe: It isn't rocket science, but places get it wrong and they got it right. No clumpiness or other off textures which from the cook adding the cheese while the pan was still on the heat or silimar errors. Veal Saltimbocca: an innovative take that knocked it out of the park. They folded the veal over and had the prosciutto inside and there was a light texture on the outside that I''m guessing was something more substantial than the conventional flour dredge but not as stodgy as a three-part breading. The key to this dish anywhere is 1) did they overcook the veal and 2) can you really taste the sage; and 3) together with the salty ham does it "jump." They absolutely got those things right and the crunchy texture on the outside (recalling a cordon bleu but lighter) was great. Risotto: It came with the veal. Texture was perfectly toothsome and there was a hint of acidic brightness that lifted the whole thing up. Again, cheesey but not clumpy because they clearly know what they are doing. Tiramisu: Neither soggy nor dry, all the distinct flavors stood up. Faithful to the Treviso original in the ways that matter Charred romaine salad: an italian twist on the wedge. Thoughtful. Wine selection: In the summer, when I'm in Italian mode, I like a nice light, crushable white, maybe an orvieto or a lugana. They had a couple orvietos on the list and we had the classico and it was great. Espresso Martini: I sampled my wife's and it was great. The helpful and friendly bartender explained that the espresso is chilled without ice to avoid dilution. We're on the other side of town so we don't get here often but it is a real treat and it reminds us of visiting our aunt several times when she worked in Rome; it reminds us of of cool neighborhood joints where she had been a regular.
Our party of four had brunch Saturday and were so pleased that we asked our excellent server, Patty, to convey our compliments to the chef. Instead Michael himself came out to say hello and we were able to detail how much we appreciated the beautiful presentation and fantastic flavors of each of our meals. We highly recommend this place and hope to visit again soon!
We recently had one our best experience dining ever here. The atmosphere here is wonderful. The food is very flavorful and authentic. The owner even came to our table to discuss the wines and their history. The best part was the service, our server, Samantha was fantastic she was patient and kind and made our experience wonderful. We are looking forward to returning soon.
Great little place with authentic Italian food. Four of us dined and everybody loved their food. Didn’t even get to try my son’s-he polished off his spaghetti and meatballs before anyone could try! Don’t skip dessert, the tiramisu was the best I’ve had since I’ve lived in Las Vegas. We always judged the Italian by their tiramisu. If the tiramisu was good, the food was good!! The cannolis were the best ever, as well. Super crunchy shell and fresh ricotta filling. Had almonds on one side and chocolate on the other. We plan on being back and possibly just for dessert other times.
In town from Texas. Service and food at this little gem was awesome and hard to find at most places. Will be back again the next time we're here. Staff and Chef were friendly and welcoming.
I went to Trattoria with a couple of friends tonight and I had a great experience. Great food and atmosphere. Our server Jess was very helpful and friendly even though she was very busy. Will definitely come back again soon. I REALLY felt the need to update my review, because we were so pleased with our server and our food at our last visit... so we decided to go back on New Years Eve. But unfortunately after our experience, we will NEVER come back. We witnessed the owner being extremely rude and intimidating towards a female server. It was very alarming and completely ruined our New Years Eve dinner. And I will definitely let my friends know that this is NOT the place to go
On a Saturday evening my husband and I decided to try Trattoria Aroma. Upon walking in we were impressed with the decor and greeting. They asked if we had reservations (which I highly recommend) and we said we did not. The restaurant had just opened as it was about 5:15 pm and was pretty empty. They sat us and within 15 minutes the tables were all full. Even with it being full, it was not overcrowded or loud like many restaurants get. It was so enjoyable. The owner stopped by our table to say hello. My husband has a dairy allergy and we were worried about the bread (which was delicious) and his meal. They accommodated us and the owner stopped by again to assure us that there was no dairy in the bread. I ordered the lobster ravioli and my husband ordered the filet. Both meals were exceptional! I know I will be craving the ravioli until we go there again, which we definitely will! I highly recommend you try this restaurant for yourself and remember to make a reservation!!!
Made reservations for a table of 5. Had cocktails first, then appetizers, couple different wines and several different Italian dishes. My lasagna was delicious. The owner came to our table to check on us mid-meal. This place was amazing in all aspects...service especially!
Went here with 6 girlfriends for brunch on Saturday. It was a great time with yummy food! Jeanie was an awesome server and checked on us many times. We will be back for sure!
First time at Trattoria Aroma. Sat at the bar and Jeanie took great care of us. Delicious pasta and amazing friendly service. We will return!
We had a delicious athletic Italian dinner with excellent cocktails… from the moment we entered to the last bite…. 5⭐️’s across the board … Rumor has it the owner is about to introduce a new fresh Italian bakery for all the great people in the western New Your area, The traditional Italian way ✨
We took our kids here for a nice dinner and now it's one of their favorite spots! The food is always great, they take reservations, easy parking, cozy atmosphere, nice bar area, friendly servers and bartenders!
Found this gem on a whim. Came from Pittsburgh to see Niagara Falls with the family. Food was incredible. Staff and owner were amazing and so kind. Kids and wife had pizza. I had spaghetti and meatballs. We will definitely go back any time we’re in the area. Thanks again for the great experience and accommodating us with our two young children.
Last Saturday me and my family went there to celebrate birthday of my mom.. it was a wonderful experience visiting & having food at restaurant .. the owner Rino was very friendly . The food was exceptional ..the service was excellent.. we will definitely come back..
I've driven by this place for years, I finally took my family here for Easter dinner. It was AMAZING! The owner came to our table several times throughout the evening, he was very sociable, funny and extremely warm hearted. Our waiter was great, thy food was outstanding, the wine selection was amazing. 100% will be a reoccurring customer.
Was browsing Google maps for a brunch spot that was in the area, and picked Trattoria on a whim, the pictures and menu looked great! This was a LOVELY little spot, very nice atmosphere inside! Clean and quaint, very much gave old Italy vibes. Jeanne was our waitress and was excellent and the food was SOOO good. We ordered crab cakes to share which were delicious! I had the baked eggs which were sooo good, great flavor and not greasy at all! My friend had smoked salmon toast which was also delicious (had to try a bite)! Mimosa was delish, & Jeanne makes a lovely double espresso. I was surprised this place wasn’t more crowded! Phenomenal food, great service. Can’t wait to go again!
The food was great nothing beats a papperdell bolognesse in the winter. Prompt service. Intimidating wine list by the bottles. I looked forward to going back
From the moment I walked in I knew it'd be a great dining experience. Had the juiciest chicken I've ever eaten and my girls pasta was cooked to perfection. Owner was walking around asking how meals were and made small talk which says a lot about how the business is run. The waiter was cool too and very attentive. I will definitely be back!
I've been coming here for years now and I would like to say that the 3 new guys that just started have flipped this place right around. Had the pleasure of meeting Daniel a few days ago. Our group originally had a table reservation but decided to kick it at the bar with him. He is like the wizard of wine and those cocktails he makes are out of this world — a true master of his craft. The hospitality he displays made us feel like we have been friends forever. The way he keeps everything clean was refreshing seeing as most place are not. Glad we finally have someone to replace the situation that has been going on for what seems like the past year
Our server was Genie / Jeanie and she was absolutely amazing. We came in with a baby and 7 women and she took care of us and had the best brunch! Food was amazing !
We ended up here randomly on a Saturday night. I had the spaghetti carbonara that was fantastic and the snapper. I was told the snapper was seasoned really well and cooked perfectly. Great place for a nice quiet dinner.
I want to say this was my wife and my first time visiting! The food was amazing! There was a bartender named Stacey who was phenomenal! She had hustle while showing care and attention to every customer. Our server was named Jeanie and she was the nicest most down to earth person you could ever hope for when dining out. This was all during a very busy Valentine’s Day dinner rush! I recommend to every one and we will definitely be back!
Took my daughter here for breakfast for her birthday! Love their happy hour and dinner menu so wanted to check out their breakfast. The crab Benedict was so good, very impressed! Our waitress Jeannie was wonderful and very kind and attentive. Thank you!
Me and my family absolutely loved this place! We came from Dallas the weekend the Bills played the Bengals exactly for that game because my son is a very big Bills fan and we wanted to have a nice dinner the Saturday before so we found this place and it did not disappoint. We did walk in a bit late, maybe an hour before they closed, but nonetheless the owner welcomed us in like we were family. He and his business partner attended to us for the majority of the night. The food was excellent, I got the lobster ravioli, my son got the spaghetti and meatballs and his godfather ask for a special request and with no hesitation it was made. And to end off the night the owner offered us a drink of Limoncello, it was perfect. I wanna thank them for the great hospitality and great service, hopefully we'll be back for another game and without a doubt we will be there for our Saturday night dinner!
Stopped in for brunch and we were delighted with the options and quality of food, and the European style charm of this restaurant. Jeanie embodied hospitality and kept the amazing coffee topped up, and the baked eggs were fire! We look forward to trying out the pizza from their brick pizza oven.
The manager was very engaged with the clientel. The food was outstanding. We met the Chef Cortez who has inspiring dishes and the atmosphere was superb. The bartender not only made our drinks, he recommended certain wines for certain dishes. And the cost for a table of 6 was amazing. This is a place you not only should try, but frequently come back to. Thank you to all of you for a great night
What an absolutely amazing dining experience we had! Everything was perfect, from beginning to end. Our party was greeted warmly and immediately seated. The menu was so appetizing weren't sure what to order. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, eventually helping a few of us pick out our dinner. The food was unbelievable! It was hot, fresh and delicious!!! It also was visually appealing. The owner stopped by to welcome us, making us feel that our visit was appreciated. He was warm and funny. keeping everyone in a lighthearted mood We will definitely visit again very soon. Five stars!
Tonight was our first time eating at this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised! The food and service were exceptional! Our server, Jeanne made us feel right at home! My husband had lobster ravioli and I had a spaghetti and chicken dish. Both were amazing! We will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful experience at Trattoria Aroma. We started with delicious Espresso Martinis and enjoyed an outstanding bottle of wine recommended by Mario. The warm bread with olive oil was irresistible, and our appetizer of lamb lollipops was perfectly prepared. For our entrées, the chicken Parmesan, lobster ravioli, and wood-fired pizza were all exceptional. Highly recommend this spot! I can’t wait to return the next time we’re in town.
We were looking for something other than bar food and wings and definitely found it. The food, from bread to appetizers to main course, was fantastic. The wine recommendation was spot on and had us looking online to order for home even before we left the restaurant. Friendly atmosphere and service was a 10! We will definitely be back! Highly recommend..
My husband and I stopped for lunch today. We're so glad we did. The food and the atmosphere were great. I had the Bruschetta Platter it was amazing. It was such a large portion I brought more than half home. My husband started with the Beans and Greens and said it was delicious. He then had the Eggplant Panini which he thoroughly enjoyed. Our waitress Jeannie was very attentive. We will definitely be back.
Always love the food here! Definitely a great Williamsville staple. Usually have gone for dinner (the Pappardelle del Piemonte and Bolognese are amazing) but recently went for brunch and it was also very delicious (Crab Cake Benedict). Was celebrating my bday with my Dad and it was made even better by our wonderful server, Jeanne! We realized we knew each other from her time at another restaurant - she is the kind of server you don't forget - very friendly and attentive to our needs the whole time. Highly recommend!!
I thought i posted this already. 4 of us came for breakfast/ lunch on a Saturday morning. We had the pancakes, baked eggs breakfast, steak sandwich and the bruschetta board. Everything was excellent. Jeannie was an excellent server and we all enjoyed talking to her. We were drinking mimosas (VERY good) and didn't know what they were priced at. The menu posted in the restroom had them listed at $9 each, but they came up at $10 on the bill. If you search for the menu online right now, they are listed at $6. 6 vs. 10 is a big difference. This is my only complaint as i think the food was priced right. The drinks are definitely overpriced! I love the atmosphere and wall decorations here and would consider returning!
We had brunch and Jeannie was great. We had the crab cake Benedict and veggie frittata. Both were delicious. The outside made it hard to tell that they were open but the inside was very cute and welcoming. Would love to see the window areas open up so you can see the place a bit more from the street. Maybe add some outdoor decor/lighting to bring attention to the place. I loved the wall shelves, it gave a warm feel to the place.
As my regular readers know, I only review those places that deserve a five-star rating, as there are so many good places, but the phenomenal ones deserve a great extra post! My wife, my daughter and I decided to give Trattoria Aroma's brunch a try, as we've enjoyed dinner there several times before. What we found was nothing short of excellence. The atmosphere was clean and comfortable, and the background music was appropriate and at a level that could be heard but not intrusive to our own conversations. The food was outstanding! From the large 5-piece, assortment of bruschetta with perfectly done beef tips on one, shrimp and a delicious sauce on another, artichoke, full chicken breast, and caprese/pancetta on the remaining three, and all for $18!!! We also enjoyed the eggs benedict which was seasoned so well that I wished for more, but as we also ordered the French toast, I had to conserve space. To say that the French toast was delicious would be an understatement. The order came with homemade butter, real maple syrup, and a homemade, cinnamon ricotta whipped cream topping. This feast, complete with coffee was all for under $50 (elsewhere, the bruschetta alone, considering the size of each piece, would go for $30). Finally, an honest shout out to our waitress, Jeannie, who was a great host, a fabulous server who kept our orders coming and our coffee and drinks full, and made appropriate conversation and gave us our space to dine and talk among ourselves. All three of us ate well and thoroughly enjoyed our brunch, and I am happy to add Trattoria Aroma to my short list of five-star ratings. Definitely give this one a try!
Excellent restaurant. Nice cozy atmosphere in the room with the wood oven. Cute Italian decor. The food was very authentic with beautiful flavors. Excellent wood oven pizza. Fantastic calamari in a delicious sauce. Mussels were full of flavor. Very reasonable prices. Great service as well. Do not hesitate to try this place. You will not regret it!
I had such a lovely experience at Trattoria Aroma! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy Italian charm that makes you feel right at home. The staff was friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming vibe from the moment we walked in. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh ingredients, beautifully presented, and full of authentic Italian flavors. From the appetizers to the pasta dishes, everything was cooked to perfection. The wine selection paired perfectly with the meal, and the desserts were the sweetest way to end the night. Overall, Trattoria Aroma offers not only great food but also a wonderful dining experience. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for a date night, family gathering, or simply treating yourself to authentic Italian cuisine in Buffalo. Highly recommended!
We were here last night, and met Patrick and Cortez for the first time. What a refreshing surprise! These guys are super into what they are doing, and love doing it. We have been coming here for a while, and I can say with confidence, I've had the best meal in over a year here, thanks to Cortez. The Salmon Picatta is back, and I'm so sorry for not taking a photo, but here's I've included one of Cacio e Pepe! Perfectly cooked risotto with just a little cheese, served as an amazing base for the delicious fresh cut piece of salmon having just a little crisp on top from the broiler, accompanied by artichokes with light lemon, capers, and sauted spinach. This is a new Trattoria Aroma, and we are just delighted to see this come back. Give them a shot, ESPECIALLY if you were recently disappointed! Go bills.
I went last minute on a Thursday night and they had lots of seats available! The food was amazing, I really loved it. The service was incredible too, our server was so friendly and helped recommend us some appetizers and mock tails. The atmosphere is really nice and perfect for a date. I’ll definitely be coming back when I can!
We were tourists coming in quite late in the evening. Were welcomed by the owner and had a very nice chat with him about his time in Germany - even partially in German language he still remembered. Food was good, served fast and the wine was very nice. They really understand decent wine!
Food is phenomenal, but portions are small for the price. They are kind of frugal with their bread, only bringing our table of 9 one small basket at a time.
Food was amazing and service was great! Everything tasted authentic and homemade. We sat at the bar and Pete was our amazing bartender 10/10. The only negative was what I believe to either be the manager or the owner (A man with a black and grey beard and glasses). When we called they told us no reservations were available but we could sit at the bar, when we got there and tried to walk by him to get to the bar he was very aggressive in asking us what we were doing and if he could help us.I proceeded to be very uncomfortable as I tried to enjoy my dinner because that same man kept yelling at Pete (the wonderful bartender) with the expectation of him to do three jobs….(serve the whole bar as the only bartender, answer all the phone calls, and make all the drinks for all the seated tables on a busy Saturday night). You should not treat your employees that way, it’s a team effort. Maybe hire an extra bartender.
Stopped for dinner on Sunday evening. Atmosphere is cozy. Seemed as though servers were stretched a little thin but ours did a very good job once he got to us. Wine list is extensive. Pasta Bolognese and pasta with meatballs were very good, as were the desserts. Total price was $91, which seemed a little high for these 2 meals.
We had dinner tonight and really enjoyed the service of Justin at the bar and Tara in the dining room. We have been here a number of times before in the winter weather. We have one complaint they need a new furnace or something because it is always uncomfortably cold in that restaurant. How nice it would’ve been on a cold night to go into a warm cozy atmosphere. I feel bad for the Cook and the service help there because they’re knocking themselves out to do a great job but the coolness of the restaurant made us feel like we needed to keep our coats on. They need to figure that out. We’ll give it another try soon …maybe by then they’ll figure out the heat. 🙏
Firstly, we mistakenly made reservations for the other location and once we arrived there they graciously still provided us a table which was super kind of them. The food was INCREDIBLE! Extensive wine menu! Must try their meatball appetizer. For entrées we had the bolognese and the penne Campo, which were both delicious. Downside to the evening was the wait time. Our dinner took about 3 hrs. The kitchen was rather slow, and several tables ended up having long wait times to receive their meals. In result of our long wait, they did provide us with a complimentary dessert for home. I hope it was a rare occurrence and despite that we would be back again since the food made up for it.
It's a mix review for me. My dining companion's dish was well done. Mine was so so. The flavor was good but the chicken was a little dry. The service is meh. We had to ask for water refill. I understand our server might be busy as there were only 2 them from what we could see. If we didn't have to ask for the water refill, I'd had tipped her 20%. I only tipped 18. Sorry.
The food was good, however the service was not and it was all over the place. It took a long time for our food to be served to us, and I had gotten the wrong order, which they were originally going to charge us for on the bill when we sent it back and did not eat it. We were trying to pay and the bartender took our card, so we had thought he ran the card and we had paid. We then get a call that they didn’t run the card like we had thought. It was disorganized, and although the food was good I can’t necessarily say that the prices of the food were justified.
It says on the website the 'Happy Hour' is from 5:30-6:00. That is not a Happy hour, that is only a half hour. Thirty minutes? Why have one, shouldn't it be from 5:30-6:30?
The waitress was very friendly but the service was slow. We waited over an hour for our food. A simple explanation that they were running behind and maybe an appetizer or drink offered while we waited would have been nice. Instead they just avoided the awkward conversation. We realize the waitress is in an awkward situation but that's when the manager should make their presence known. He or she was never present. Even if we weren't offered a complementary drink, we would have ordered another round if someone checked in on us. but they didn't. Their loss. My food was cool by the time they served it. It tasted good, but for the prices on the menu, I expected more, both in the serving sizes and the quality.
Waitress was a bit ditzy...had no idea what beers they had in stock & we gave her back up picks but she didn't remember when she came to tell us one was out (also, bottles only). Pricey, but food was pretty good. What was odd was when we asked for a box, the waitress took our 2 pieces of bread we had left ..made me wonder what the heck she was going to do with it & if we got someone else's leftover bread. Also, the floor is super slippery and I thought someone must have fallen before. I prefer Mulberry or Mangia, but everyone can judge for their own.
The food was very good but and this is a big but, the place was freezing. I kept wondering why they didn't turn up the heat. If management looked around they would see many patrons with their coats on. This is unacceptable. To be a dinner with your coat on. I know it was cold outside but that is why they make thermostats. I was very disappointed in that, the food was good and we have been there several times. I will think twice before I go in winter. Management was lacking.
Food has definitely gone down hill at this restaurant over last few years. We ate a big meal there this week and with the exception of the pizza, we were very disappointed. The meats and cheeses of the charcuterie board were very low quality. The mozzarella for the insalata caprese was the block kind you put on pizza. Took a long time to get each of our courses. Won't be going back anytime soon.
Reservation at 630. 7 people. No appetizer ordered and our food came after 8 pm. Waited over 1/2 hour for waitress to check in with us while we were waiting. People arrived after us were done eating and leaving before we even got served. Once arrived, food was good. Not sure if the wait was worth it.
For context, I have a bachelor's in hospitality, and extensive experience in the industry. I'm also an understanding and patient patron, especially on busy nights. Our reservation was for 8 pm. and my husband and I were meeting another couple. We arrived at 7:40, expecting to check in with the host and enjoy a drink at the bar while we were waiting. We walked in and saw a sign that said that the "host stand" was at the opposite end of the bar. No, it was a service station computer with about 3 dozen dirty glasses on the bar top next to it so that anyone waiting for a table had to take a guess of where to go, and stand in the way. The manager sat us, but not before he made us feel as though we were bothering him, and wouldn't give us a chance to speak. He just tapped my husband on the shoulder rushed us to the table, and dropped off pieces of paper as the menus. I'm sorry, but it rubs me the wrong way to order a $15 cocktail from a white piece of paper on a clipboard. We both decided on drinks we would be starting with and then we waited... and then our friends arrived and we waited some more... Finally, at 8:20, a server comes over to take our drink orders. She apologized for the wait, and was very friendly and personable. I then waited 40 minutes for my drink because they "ran out of glasses". From what I could see, there were a ton of dirty glasses on the bar top all night, but no way to hand wash them, causing the delay. We were also served the wrong appetizer, which the server noticed and offered to fix, but the final nail in the coffin was the dinner. All of our dinners were cold, and my $38 pasta had 1 tiny, quarter-sized piece of chicken in it. I brought it to the attention of the server, and she had the kitchen cook me more, which was about 6 more tiny little strips. The portion size of the rest of the dinner for that cost was also nothing impressive.
We had reservations for a dinner with family members from out of town. We were seated promptly, and ordered a bottle of wine. Not everyone wanted wine, but the waitress didn't ask if anyone wanted a different drink other than water. We placed our dinner order, no appetizers. Waitress brought 2 small baskets of half slices of bread with one bowl of dipping oil, we asked for a 2nd bowl. We were a group of 7 at a rectangular table, difficult to share 1 bowl. Reservations were 6:30, we were served dinner about 8:15. We watched other people come in, get seated, eat, and leave. Waitress came by the table to refill our water, never asked if we needed anything else or explained the delay. We would have ordered more wine and asked for more half slices of bread. We were never approached by anyone else, like the owner, to apologize or explain. When we finally got our dinners, the pasta dish was not hot, the clam dish had some empty shells on the plate, the "lightly breaded" chicken was heavily battered and deep fried. Portion size for the $40 fish special was laughable, the $28 pasta dish which had only a meat sauce on it was the smallest serving of pasta I've ever seen at any Italian restaurant, usually there's enough to feed a family of 6, since pasta costs pennies a serving. Everyone thought the food was tasty, but the total lack of service/explanation/apology eliminates the possibility of returning. A shame too, since it's walking distance for some of the group. It's interesting that within a day of 2 others in our group posting reviews, there were 2 glowing reviews posted about how attentive the owner was. I guess he was too busy with them to notice our large table.
Food was horrible. Appetizer (Stracetti) was nothing like the description, chunks of beef with a mashed potato instead of their description. Lamb was burnt to a crisp, my wife’s salmon with risotto was served cold. They served a Peroni beer, when asked for another they were out. Harried staff barely coping. $150 meal for 2 with 3 beers - try somewhere else!
This place sucks. To get started, they didn’t have the bottle of wine we wanted, the bread was hard as cardboard, my friends bolognese tasted like tomato soup, they ran out of the dessert I wanted (meanwhile it’s 7pm, we are the only 2 people at the bar, and there’s probably one other table), they didn’t have whipped cream for the other dessert I ordered because their CO2 bottle didn’t work, and on top of the the manager was creepy as hell, constantly interrupting our convo, breathing down our necks, and not giving us our space to have personal chats. I understand he could’ve been bored cuz there wasn't a soul in the place, but it’s all about remaining professional and reading the room—- It was extremely uncomfortable….I didn’t like dinner at their other location on Bryant, and I should’ve known this dinner would’ve been just as bad. The bartender was sweet- that’s about it. Biggest waste of $200.
We went on a Saturday and it wasn't terribly crowded. Overall experience was slow, inaccurate and food was okay. While were sat right away, it took some time for menus to arrive and the server, Tara, to greet us. When the drink came, there was one missing and we had to ask for it again. Turns out it was never made, so we had to wait on it again. The food took an hour to come out and the server Tara did not acknowledge us at all to explain why it was taking so long. Then when the food finally came, we receive the wrong pizza order. Meanwhile tables that got sat after us got their meals before us. They did bring out the correct pizza eventually. When the bill came, the sever Tara changed us for the wrong pizza, which was MORE expensive than the one I actually ordered. That really was the nail in the coffin. The service was so bad we will not be going back.
Nice owner, and good waitress. The food was sub-par. The soup was awful $13. The bread was cold. The salad was a strange mixture and they only had one salad dressing and it had no flavor $12. Then the main course was chicken Parmesan $26, normally one of my favorite italian dishes. This over breaded brest had zero flavor. Really! The marinara sauce had no flavor. How is that even possible? Huge disappointment all the way around. You'll have to go somewhere else for real Italian. It does not live or breathe here, just being honest. What a waist of money.
Don't waste your time on this place.... I love Italian, and lasagna is my favorite dish..... My girlfriend ordered spaghetti and meatballs..... There was barely any noodles with the spaghetti and my lasagna had no sauce on it at all...... My mixed drinks were $12 each.... So I ordered lasagna and my girlfriend ordered spaghetti and meatballs with three drinks each and it was $130 which is ridiculous.... I was very disappointed eating here..... Do yourself a favor and just go to Sinatra's
Salad balsamic to oil ratio was way off , spaghetti barely had any sauce , fruiti de mare pasta was undercooked and not spicy at all, Risotto was overcooked and salmon was tasteless. Everything was bland tasting. Very disappointed , not sure why this place get good reviews.
Had a reservation tonight. Opted to sit at the bar. Things were ok. Took some time for appetizers and salad. Drinks and wine were good. Server brought one entree and set it down. After a few minutes I asked about our other entree and he said he got busy and forgot. He offered to make it but we decided not to wait. Paid our full bill. Lots of apologies but didn’t even offer to buy a drink. Won’t go back.
I will leave my original review at the end of this post. Because things changed drastically. Reno (owner) turned out to be a huge disappointment. He seemed to care more about making money than employee care or customer service. It took some unfortunate events to see his true colors. Everything the restaurant presented initially was ultimately fake. Never would I ever give this man or this restaurant a penny for service or food. I am so disappointed that many people read my initial review and were falsely informed. An unexpected night! We came from Albany to visit my son at UB and found Trattoria Aroma. The atmosphere, the service, the wine and the food were all amazing! The owner, Reno, was walking around checking in on all the tables. The dessert and cappuccino were the perfect finish!
If I could rate this restaurant no stars at all I would. My friends and I made reservations for Valentine’s day (well in advance) for 7:45. I checked in at 7:40 and then we waited until 8:30 to be seated. We were slightly aggravated but still gave them the benefit of the doubt seeing as they were busy. By the time it was 9:20 we had only gotten our drinks. We had waited almost two hours to be seated, place our order and only get drinks. Our server was one of the owners, she was nice but the other owner who I’m assuming is her husband was far from understanding and completely rude. When they brought our appetizers out right as we were getting up to leave, he asked us what the problem was to which we explained we’d been here for almost two hours with nothing but our drinks and we wanted to go. He made a comment that we should notice that they’re busy to which I told him it isn’t justifiable and he told us to get up and leave so we did. Other customers in our section were also as disappointed with their experience. We asked a couple who was there well before us if they had gotten their food and they said no. The other couple beside us applauded us for leaving because the service was just absurd. They also mistreat their staff—I noticed how they talk to one another while I was waiting at the host stand and it was unbelievable. I’ve worked in the serving industry and I couldn’t imagine working under management like that let alone being the owner and thinking our experience was okay in the slightest as well as the way he spoke to us. The picture was our server placing our drinks down at the table beside us and then leaving them there so she could go tend to another table. I’ve been to Trattoria down town and had a great experience but this place is beyond poorly managed and would never recommend to anyone. First and last time I’ll go there and I didn’t even eat anything. What a joke Edit: We didn’t eat any food or finish our drinks nor was there any mention of paying for anything when the owner told us to leave if we didn’t want to stay and eat.
Had reservations for 8:30 for Valentine’s Day . I understand it was busy , but we were sat down at a table . No greeting , no water , no bread . Waited until 9pm then just left because the lack of service was ridiculous . People seated after us were being served cocktails before we even got a hello . I’ll happily spend $200 somewhere else . If you can’t handle the amount of people/reservations that you take then don’t take them or at least say “ hey sorry we will get to you soon “
5 of us for dinner tonight. Ordered the calamari brodo appetizer. There were probably a dozen small pieces served for $17. Not a good start. Our dinners ranged from bland (pizza), too salty (carbonara), burnt (chicken cutlet) and meatballs that were hard as a rock. I’ve had dinner at the Bryant St location, but this place is not that. Service was adequate but the place needs updating (along with better quality food).
felt like i was in an episode of kitchen nightmares. server was nice but spent a lot of time watching people at the pizza station with another server, which made the energy fairly awkward. place was fairly dead but still😭.... food is okay but extremely overpriced for what you get. bread is horrible - stale, clearly supposed to be like a crostini but its not right. a woman next to me was given undercooked chicken and my salmon was overcooked and dry. the atmosphere if you are under 60 years old, is bad. experienced a lot of staring from what i assume are their older regulars. WAY better off elsewhere for $50 a person.
Reservation for 7. Were sat at cramped table, were given water and then not talked to for 20 min. Got our beverage order taken, didn’t get drinks for another 20 min and placed our orders for food. Proceeded to sit there, nothing from our waitress, no check ins or anything although the table next to us got cleaned 3x by 3 different workers. The tables next to us were being sat one by one. The table farthest from us who were sat last got their food first. No one else received their food. 2 hours from the time we were sat, we were then told it would be another 30-45 min for our food by our waitress because “everyone ordered at the same time”. We told her to cancel the food order, we would pay for our drinks and leave. The manager then comes out 10 seconds later with our food. Holy miscommunication Batman. It didn’t matter. We told him we were leaving, we did not want the food. They did comp our drinks. The couple next to us also asked to do the same. We went to ShakeShack, as it was 9:30 at this point. ShakeShack had better service than this place that charges 30-45$ per plate. Save your money and your time.
Would give zero stars if I could. This place was a huge disappointment. The biggest problem here starts at the top. The owners create an uncomfortable, tense environment that seeps into every part of the restaurant. Their attitude and behavior are impossible to ignore, and the way staff interacts around them makes it clear this is not a healthy or respectful place to work — which immediately ruins the dining experience. The food was mediocre at best and wildly overpriced for what you get. Nothing stood out in a good way. The atmosphere felt dated and catered almost exclusively to an older regular crowd. This restaurant presents itself as warm and family-oriented, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. It feels forced and transactional, like they’re just taking whatever they can get. For the money, there are far better options nearby. I won’t be returning.
