Sylva is an absolute gem. Just 14 months in, this intimate restaurant has already mastered the art of creating a memorable dining experience. From the moment we walked in, everything was flawless: attentive service, inviting atmosphere, and perfectly curated music that enhanced rather than distracted. A special note on their accommodation of dietary restrictions: my girlfriend has a unique set of food allergies, and our server had one of their chefs personally mark up the menu to clearly denote which meals would be safe. This level of care and attention is remarkably rare. We've only experienced this at a handful of other restaurants. Now, the food. Each dish was exceptional, but a few standouts deserve special mention: the sourdough focaccia bread was extraordinary on its own, but paired with the pork loin, it became something transcendent. The scallops were the best I've ever had, perfectly seared with incredible flavor. Their burger exceeded all expectations, and the confit duck leg was absolutely stunning. We finished with the bread pudding, which may have been the highlight of an already outstanding meal. Fresh whipped cream, rich chocolate chunks, and expert execution made it unforgettable. Sylva is doing everything right. This is destination-worthy dining that rivals anything you'd find in a major city. Highly recommended.
Book a reservation at Sylva. I cannot recommend this place enough, it is a fantastic staff, amazing menu and beautiful place. Every dish was beautifully executed and delivered more than it promised. The palette on their chef and the flavors their menus bring cannot be missed. I will be back here every time I’m in Tahoe from now on. Trust the chefs at Sylva and the staff will take care of the rest. They do get crowded so please make that reservation ahead of time. My favorite place in Tahoe City, hands down.
Our family of four ordered a number of appetizers and entrees and shared everything to make our own tasting menu. We loved the bread so much, we’re ordered two orders so that we could soak up all the delicious sauces. We loved all the presentations and the music set list made for a great ambience. We highly recommend Sylva and think this is one of the best restaurants in Lake Tahoe area.
Excellent food, even better than expected. Incredible what they churn out given the size of the kitchen. Service was also great. It was a little loud but can still have conversations. Be aware it tends to be busy. Very busy on weekends too.
Stellar overall experience. Japanese sweet potato was the star dish, as was the cauliflower. Also the best service I've seen in the Tahoe region.
This spot is a gem. The sweet potato was incredibly delicious, though rich. The octopus was the best I've ever had, by far. Great atmosphere and service. Worth the hype.
My fav restaurant around Tahoe. Everything we tried was sophisticated and delicious. Good unique cocktails.
Simply a must visit. Everything was delicious from the food, wine, and dessert. Perfect portion size, quick turnaround, and a great staff. The short ribs are a must with a glass of red. Will be coming back!
Innovative, creative, satisfying & surprising. Amazed by the passion, atmosphere & food. Save room for dessert! Worth a visit to Lake Tahoe just to eat here. Chef Andrew & team do an amazing job. Let me not forget to mention the focaccia - bread as light as cotton candy (an analogy so wrong and yet so right.)
Very nice restaurant and the staff is super attentive and friendly. The interiors looks so nice and modern! We enjoyed this restaurant a lot! We initially called at 5pm and they said they didn’t have space for 2 at 6pm on a Thursday, but we arrived there just after 5 anyway and they could seat us inside! The pork belly was disappointing and there was no meat in the piece of pork belly and the portion was not good, we really loved the chicken thigh and the burger was also very good! We highly recommend this restaurant! Great all round, and high end food for a good price.
Great restaurant!! Highly recommended to anybody coming to Tahoe City. Everything we ordered was dellicious. Our favorites were Hamachi crudo and Spanish chorizo pizza. We want to come back to try other items on the menu.

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! We came here randomly on a Sunday and tried a little bit of everything, every single dish was phenomenal. The short rib was melt-in-your-mouth amazing, the scallops were perfectly cooked, and those mushrooms… absolutely exquisite. The octopus was super tender and flavorful, and even the kids loved their cheese pizza — a total hit! I don’t normally like blue cheese, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try the fig and blue cheese pizza. I’m so glad I did, the figs and caramelized onions balanced everything perfectly. The fries were seasoned and fried to perfection, and the desserts were just as incredible as the main dishes. The staff was incredibly friendly, offering top-notch service and constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. They made us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. (We were a large party of 8) If you’re looking for great food and five star service in Tahoe City, definitely pull up. This spot deserves a Michelin star in my book
Not to sound cliché, but i rarely leave a review for a restaurant. If i like it, i might be back, if its bad, i dont waste my time. I’ll also say that im by no means a chef, but im a passionate home cook and do so fairly well, as does my girlfriend, so not to so not to sound pretentious or arrogant—but we arent super easy to impress. In todays day and age, it almost seems like a great restaurant is a rare find. Sylva was an absolute breath of fresh air. We ate at the chefs table and it was absolutely magical. It sounds kind of ridiculous but the first bite of my entree i almost became emotional.. it was that good, and thats the first time ive ever experienced the “it was so good it makes you wanna cry”. We loved watching the chefs cook and plate the food/converse about it. The plates were pieces of art. This place has passion which is hard to find today. Everything we had was phenomenal, the service was phenomenal, the atmosphere was fantastic. And the chefs were really cool to talk to. I can say with conviction that it was the coolest and best experience we’ve both ever had at a restaurant. We literally talked about it for hours after we left.
Tahoe casual reached a new bar for excellence. We ordered a bunch of dishes and ate more than we should and ohhh was it good. Every dish was a standout. My personal favorite was the rillettes, which I couldn’t finish and will be smearing over baguette for breakfast in the morning. The berry sorbet has left me smacking my lips on the way home. We will be back.
Excellent meal! Without a doubt one of the best in all of Tahoe. Balanced plates with unique flavors. Also the ambiance and service / owner were top notch. They accommodated gluten free easily!
One of the best restaurants in Tahoe. Interesting menu of things they're pulling off very well! Not sure I'd call it "New American", but whatever style it is works. It can be pricy, but compared to other restaurants in this range what you get, and the atmosphere, is great.

We had such a lovely dinner at Sylva! Highly recommend making a reservation to get a table here, we got lucky and got the last open table in the dining room on a Saturday at 5. The server was so friendly and the food was very unique. We loved the crispy tequenos, little gem lettuce, the the royale with cheese burger. The vibes inside were incredible and we would absolutely stop here again!

Sylva is nothing short of amazing. The staff is kind, friendly, and really made it a point to take if everyone. We were lucky enough to be at the chef’s counter. If you’re sitting there, fair warning, you will want to eat everything they’re making. Everything was fresh, delicious, and came out in perfect timing. Everything is fresh, but if you’re lucky enough to try the Hamachi and scallops, do it. They are all time. A real gem in Tahoe!
This place is hard to get into because it’s so good! We got lucky with a 9pm seating and it was worth the wait. We had octopus, steak, tomatoes and gem lettuce salad and all were great, high quality and fresh. Our waiter Acer (sorry if I misspelled!) was so delightful and lovely and gave us great recs for the area. Would love to return!
Had a good meal at Sylva. We ordered the Bibb lettuce, miso glazed sweet potato, and mortadella pizza - all packed with bold, unique flavors and generous portions. The sweet potato (that chili crunch + cilantro combo) and the pizza were definite standouts. The salad was just a little over-tossed for our taste. The space feels modern and stylish but still warm and welcoming. Overall a fun and flavorful spot.
Nice little restaurant, they opened recently. The food is family style, for 3 people they recommended ordering ~6-8 dishes (we did 6, including 3 entrees, and it was a very good amount). We liked everything we got, though nothing really stood out. A couple of dishes were very salty (specifically the sauce in the sweet potato dish, and the octopus)

SYLVA Restaurant in Lake Tahoe had a lot of hype, but for me, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. The ambiance was nice, and the service was solid, but the food itself was just okay. For Lake Tahoe, it might be considered good, but compared to similar restaurants elsewhere, it didn’t stand out. I’d give it a 3 out of 5—decent, but not necessarily a place I’d go out of my way to revisit.

Everything about the meal was wonderful, and I understand the business side of turning tables. It still felt disappointing to have the experience cut short in a way that came across as profit over people. As a local celebrating my birthday, being rushed out and reminded that “someone was waiting for the table” while we were already gathering our things felt unnecessary. It left me feeling more like a transaction than a guest. I won’t be back as often as I otherwise would have.
Extremely mediocre and disappointing. Kitchen was busy so I’m not complaining about the wait, but food was brought out at a completely different timeline than the waitress stated it would be. We started with mains then appetizers came after .. very weird. Also expensive for what you get, as others have complained, $40 for two scallops is absurd. I understand we are in Tahoe and I can appreciate the vibe they are going for, but the execution is not there, especially for the price. Wouldn’t reccomend
DON'T CARE ABOUT US LOCALS, THEY JUST WANT THE TOURISTS $$$. PATHETIC. Made a rez for the evening. My nephew, who came to visit, was having altitude sickness. I canceled the rez. THEY CHARGED ME $50 !!! Called them to explain, but no one to available to do so. Not a smart. nor congenial way to do business in Tahoe. Finally got a form email telling me ONLY their point of view... and zero interest in wanting to know why the rez was canceled. Suppose busines, as rumored , is not good for them and they need the money. They got my $50, but in return they get ill will and lose 5 guests.
