Tip: Ask for Miguel at the bar for the best espresso martini. Also, try the French fries!

A taste of home!!! I am a native Thai, so glad we found this restaurant. We had spicy crispy tofu for a starter. So good, crunchy and flavorful! Don't have a photo to share because we polished it off so quickly. Creamy tom yam noodle had a nice bright flavor. Khao soi was delish!! Nice aroma of authentic spices of northern Thailand. Daughter had rahd na mee krop -- crunchy noodle & seafood. Definitely a dish to share-- a very generous portion. Delicious and fresh. The dessert was very nice -- a good way to cap off a meal. All dishes came beautifully presented. So many dishes on the menu we want to come back to try. The staff were nice and friendly. They put their hearts into their creation. We definitely will come back!!
I love the food here. The portions are huge and there are a lot of good options to choose from. I have gotten the khao moo krob, khao soi, and the Kra Prow Moo Krob all of which were really good. I would also recommend their thai green tea!
Love love this place. The foods very delicious and authentic Thai food so far in the area. With the new owners has more new menu of thai food that’s couldn’t find in other Thai restaurants around here RTP area. The restaurant is nice and clean. The servers are very nice and beautiful .😍 5⭐️ for me and my friends. We will be back for other good menu list that we already crave for. VERY RECOMMEND 👍🏻
Fantastic flavor palette! If you want Thai spicy, they deliver. Service is fanatic too. Nice to sit out and enjoy the weather while eating delicious food.
Came in today for a family and received an excellent service from the server as well as how delicious the foods came out. The taste has all the original flavors and ingredients as it would from Thailand. Will definitely come back.
Wow! Best Thai food I've had!! They have such a unique and well rounded menu without feeling extremely overwhelming. I ordered the Plah Tofu and it was very fresh, flavorful, and delicious, with plenty of herbs and lime flavor. Very good on rice 😊 the spicy bamboo shoots are delicious too! The pictures do not capture the experience!! Also, the restaurant has amazing waitstaff who were all extremely attentive
I am a person who like to seeking food, came across this thai restaurant. Shocked that the food cheaper than I've ever eaten. When the food came I was shocked again. They give a lot of food, so surprise why do people give 1 star even though the price is not expensive plus the taste is quite delicious and waitress very friendly. If anyone hasn't tried it yet I recommend this place.
Cham Thai is one of the best restaurants in Carrboro, hands down! Intense yet fresh flavors at a very affordable price. During peak hours, you may have to wait for a table, but each dish at Cham Thai is very much worth the wait.
Ohhh lawwwwd Jesus! Well first of all before I begin I’ll have a moment for you guys to compliment my pictures, thank you. But anyways, for me, before going into a Thai restaurant, it have to pass the picture test, and this place does just that. If it doesn’t look good then i don’t want it. This place have your popular Thai food that no other Thai places usually offer, like the crispy pork with gravy which is also well known in Thailand, of course it does have your pad Thai (like it ain’t a Thai place if there’s no pad Thai gorl!). This is not my first time here, but it keeps me coming back to it, unlike yall exes. The fried rice was gooood, definitely the best around here, it is really giving Thailand yall. Go try it, yall don’t want to miss it!! Slaaay mama!
The food here was delicious! We got the Thai iced tea, rolls, and pad thai/pad see ew. They actually made the Thai tea in front of us, and fresh brewed the tea and added milk, which I’ve never seen before. The service was also amazing and our waitress was super attentive and friendly. I would definitely come here again!
My favorite Thai restaurant in the area by a mile, this place is a must-visit. The menu is varied, every dish I have ever tasted is delicious, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is spot-on. I continually come back to the Cashew Nut with Chicken dish and the Chicken Sate, but the Mongolian Beef is also always perfect. The desserts appear authentic as well; I never order desserts out other than here.
We came for dinner after a long Monday of appointments. My husband and I had the appetizer platter - several foods to sample. Delicious. After, I ate the garlic beef with vegetables and every bite was loaded with flavor. Hubby also had a beef dinner he said was delicious. Quick seating and service. Lovely evening with my man. Was a bit curious after I read other reviews and glad we chose Cham (it was right at the hotel) as the food had great flavor.
Great authentic Thai food and so delicious. The staff is so friendly and creates the most welcoming atmosphere. The menu is huge with a ton of options from various regions around Thailand. I'm planning on going back a couple times a month to work my way through the menu and try as many dishes as I can. The food is great value too, prices are good, and I left with a to go box for lunch curry tomorrow.
This place so cozy and foods are delicious. Ice Thai tea is so good and little bit sugary. I said because i thinking, I ordered a drink to go with my meal. This tea does not match salty food. But this item best of beverages. One of the best Asian restaurants in the area.
Love this place! Delicious food, friendly staff, and a clean and welcoming atmosphere. They have lots of gluten free options. The bru burger with the gluten free bun is absolutely amazing!! I always look forward to coming to Bru's Public House when I have to come up to Chapel Hill.
One of the best pub experiences I’ve had, anxious to go back. Shared wings with my son, they were good and I enjoyed the buffalo hot sauce on the side, just the right amount of heat. Had the french dip, one of their most popular sandwiches, and it was quite good. Beef was good consistency, the dip was nice and plentiful. Substituted sprouts for fries and they were fantastic. Our server was also quite attentive, overall a great lunch.
Excellent! We arrived at about 8:45 and to my surprise the place was about empty. We sat at the bar and ordered some drinks. My daughter loved her dream-sickle drink and the old fashioned I had was good. We ordered the shareable burnt ends (absolutely fantastic!) as well as the Italian and the French Dip. Everything was delicious!
Great place to catch a game a brew and some good food. If you are lucky enough to run into Grant you have no worries. The service is fast and the food is tasty! Of course I had tontry the French Dip and it was perfect. Also the adult Tom and Chee was awesome! The Brussel sprouts were next level yum. Enjoy...
Tried bru’s for the first time yesterday and let me tell you they did not disappoint. It has a very causal vibe. Staff was super friendly and didn’t rush us to order or finish our food. The food itself was simply amazing somebody pay that chef more. Each item was beautiful made and cooked to perfection. We had the pulled pork egg roll, the Italian hoagie, the French dip, and I forget the technically name for the last one but it was burnt something it’s under the shareable part of the menu. I definitely recommend stopping in if you haven’t been. Definitely will be heading back
Great set of bartenders and waiters. Miguel, Heather, and the whole crew has been wonderful. Good line cooks that get what the menu items call for and what's envisioned to be delivered. Sweet drink collection and rotating tap. Definitely worth a visit. Personal favorites are the Breuben paired up with the Caesar Arugula Salad. 👌
Loved my first time at this establishment! Our bartender was Miguel, if you come here make sure you ask for him. Best espresso martini you will ever have is made by him. We also had a very lovely conversation with Bree she was very polite and helpful with all of our questions, being it was our first time to the area. Let's not forget the best part of my experiece... the poutine. The gravy... slam hand on table lick the plate clean good. If you want service with a smile this is the place.
Absolutely love this place, I'm a weekly regular. Always a great selection of craft beers, and the food is great. If you can handle some spice, try the breuben it's delicious! Then again, anything you try is great. One of the few places around that have truffle and poutine fries! Not the to mention the service is quick and friendly. Andrew and Bree i see the most, and they are the best! They always take the time to stop, talk and check on you. Also outdoor seating is always a plus when the weather's right. Must try!
Bru’s Public House in Carrboro is everything you want in a neighborhood hangout—laid-back, welcoming, and perfectly placed just a short walk from Cat’s Cradle if you’re grabbing dinner before a show. We sampled a few menu standouts: the French Dip was hearty and satisfying, though we were hoping for a bit more flavor punch. The fried chicken nachos were a creative twist, but the heat from the chicken kind of stole the spotlight from everything else. The Bruben, though? Absolute winner—rich, savory, and packed with personality. The fries were top-tier crispy, and the poutine was pure, cheesy comfort food gold. Wash it all down with a Late Nights cocktail, which was smooth, balanced, and surprisingly refined for a pub drink. Sports fans, take note: there’s a massive screen front and center, plus a whole wall of TVs over the bar, making it prime territory for game days. And on those perfect Carrboro afternoons, they open up the garage door to a fantastic outdoor space that’s great for catching fresh air, sunshine, and maybe a local brew. Whether you’re here to pregame a concert, catch a game, or just post up with good food and good company, Bru’s hits the mark.”
Chapter 1: Stuck In the Rain. I stumbled in here to get out of the rain. Catch a drink. Quick bite. I was recommended the wings. Lots of fresh herbs and rub on a plentiful and plump wing. 3 drum, 3 thigh. Phenomenal. For any wing enthusiasts. Chapter 2: French Bliss, no, French Dip! The French Dip sandwich. Wowzers!! A great roll, quality ribbon eye meat with cheese and butter garlic. Quality fries. This is a never miss. You should be eating here right now. I may be across the way. Release your inner raptor. Meat eaters delight. Chapter 3: Grande Hamburguesa w/queso, eh? Spectacular burger, double patty, lots of cheese. Fresh herbs on fries. 🔥 Never Miss. Always a homerun.
Went here to watch some NFL games. It's the old Hickory Tavern. It still looks pretty much the same but there aren't quite as many TVs. That being said there are plenty to watch every game and they also still have the nice outdoor eating area with TVs. We sat at the bar and the staff was great. We really enjoyed our food. I got the Alabama fried chicken sandwich, never had one before, and it was great. My wife got the caprese panini. She liked it as well. The fries were really good as well. If you're looking for a place to catch a game I would recommend this place.
This is a great new addition next to Hampton Inn. It's open during the day straight through, unlike most of the other establishments in the area. The food was excellent quality and good portions. Service was efficient, but not rushed. Drinks were less than I expected at a place next to a hotel. It's really what places like this used to be. Friendly staff, good food, clean, and reasonably priced. It's a good place to hang before a show and has excellent displays inside. The beer menu is extensive and features a lot of excellent options on tap. Not sure if it is the home to any local football or soccer team's fan club for games, but it has ample parking in the deck nearby or around it, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. This is a great upgrade to what was there and a really pleasant space for folks traveling to have a drink and relax at a reasonable price or for locals who want to watch a game with their friends in a great atmosphere.
Staff was very friendly and attentive, food was great! Will definitely come back! Me and a friend hit this place for lunch, elected to start with their tofu offering with a sweet and spicy sauce. This was unbelievable, worth coming back for by itself!!! Crispy outside, enough to crunch with a bite. Gooey inside. Sweet and spicy sauce all over. Absolute sensory overload, awesome! He got the soup, I got the salad. Your typical Asian starters, and both were great. I really enjoyed the abundance of ginger in the salad. Our meals were great! We will come back and try different things. Everything was cooked perfectly, it's very apparent the kitchen crew is passionate about what they send out. Even down to the plating, amazing! Only knocked the atmosphere since there were still Christmas decorations up. Also they apparently use the town tap water for everything, even the Thai tea my friend ordered was overwhelming with the tap water taste. We both had water with our lunch, which also was very apparent the town was midst treating their water......as it tasted like chemicals. Small knocks though, this place is legit!
3.7 We really liked the food here! The yellow curry (we got it spicy) was absolutely delicious. I’m craving it as I write this review. We also ordered pad see yew and drunken noodles which were pretty good. We did not enjoy the Kung pao chicken at all so definitely skip this when ordering. For desert we got mango and sticky rice which is literally rice with mangos 😂 Overall average service and nice ambience. Cute place for lunch!
Decent food and decent portions. Got the pad Thai but wouldn’t recommend getting the chicken in it (was dry). The flavor was pretty strong. The duck soup was ok but the duck was a bit dry too. Overall, ok food and decent portions.
Ok place. Nothing to write home about. Place was clean and good spacing between the tables. Restrooms were clean. I had the French dip, it was okay. Hubby had the Alabama spicy chicken, and he liked it quite a bit. Now the french fries Oh my! I'll be back for nothing else for the french fries. To receive our dinner was quick. To receive an extra beer, it took a bit of time.
First time experience as I brought family members from out -of-town for a "celebration of life". I come from a long line of family members in the hospitality industry including myself. Mixed reviews... Server was pretty amazing although attention to detail was not at best like refilling water, not clearing plates, basic things. Now, on to the food... Pork egg rolls fantastic! I did not partake in coconut shrimp because I do not like coconut, semi ok based on the rest of the table. Now, on to the spicy chicken nachos.... Not for the weak at heart nor fur those who are super allergic to anything but, spicy and stomach intolerant!!! These were definitely a "BUST" The chicken was hard, dried out, just way to over spicy!! Maybe consider grilled chicken and less spicy? Okay, on to main entrees... Burger got👍🏻, French dip 👍🏻, Prreuben 👎 because it's was super fatty and meat not chopped well, and wedge salad well how can you really mess up a salad!?!? If I return, at least I know what to order and what not to order
I usually love going here, but I was disappointed with the lack of spice and flavor of my Thai curry... I am pretty sure there wasn't even salt.. The chicken was pure chicken taste, no seasoning.. I think the servers are very kind and sweet but toward the end I felt like we were randomly rushed out and we were 2 hrs before close by then still with many still in the restaurant and not one server helping us, as they all work together so we were not holding someone from ending their shift.. Overall.. just really wish there was actual flavor. If I am getting Thai food, I am getting it for the rich flavors and spices. Many Americans do want this judging by reviews and I think that menus should not be watered down for people who don't appreciate it, unless they request.
I don't usually spend time from my life to leave reviews that are not positive. But it would be irresponsible for me not to say something publicly about our experience at Cham Thai in Carrboro. I don't know WHAT day the beef I was served was cooked, but it wasn't TOday. I ordered Mongolian Beef "hot" - there wasn't even an attempt, a two on a ten scale. It wasn't as tough as shoe leather, but it wasn't far behind. They did serve a lot of it, tho, and my little dog was well pleased. Not so my dining partner, who ordered BBQ pig belly. Barbeque is a means of cooking, not just a color. There is no way what they were served had ever been near fire. And again, so tough, so hard to chew. I don't know, maybe the word "Cham" means "tough" in Thai. It was served with a really beautiful presentation, a lil flower on top. Too bad there wasn't any flavor on the inside. Now, let's talk service. Number one: some tables at Cham Thai get a fresh carafe of water, some do not. If you are at a table sans carafe, you will literally have to raise your voice in order to get water. No one will ever come to the table and just see how you're doing. Don't bother asking for chopsticks, just use the flatware on the table. You'll be happier. A fellow diner told us about the place a few months back, with just glowing reviews of the food. I don't know what has happened since then, but what we were served today was underwhelming to say the least. There was absolutely nothing exceptional about anything we were served. There's nothing I could say back to the person who recommended Cham Thai, other than "the restrooms were clean." The entire time we were there, we and another table were the only diners inside, while there were young people at three tables outside. Pick up of take out orders was near constant. I hope the other diners had a better experience than we did. Best of luck Cham Thai, try to do better.
The best thing about this restaurant is how close it is located to Thai Station (Car Mill Plaza) across the street. I assure you, this will save you from major disappointment and discover what a decent (Not super authentic I’m afraid) Thai cuisine should taste like. Try their pine apple fried rice- kids love it. It comes inside of freshly cut pine apple. Now back to this joint- Food, particularly the beef noodle dish I ate, is indistinguishable from eating cardboard. I’ll stop there… The hostess seemed disinterested when I tried to order my take out. Atmosphere was ok, nothing to comment on there. Seriously- try Thai Statiin in Car Mill plaza across the street before you depart with your $20 at this place. I had to throw away my beef- no flavor, dry, and the size of a Great Dane’s ears. See for yourself. Wife had eggplant dish and they were also massive.
Our server took over a half hour to take our order. She also barely spoke to us. When out food came out, she just put the plates on the table and left without a word. Among the three people in our group, no one finished half their food. The fried chicken sandwich was very burned. The French dip was tough and bland. Somehow even the grilled cheese tasted only of butter. I finally had to go ask the bartender to pay my bill because our server abandoned us. This place is a truly a unique combination of bad food and bad service.
