Came here for a quick sushi fix before heading to the airport, and everything we ordered was off the chain! Super fresh, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. Every roll we tried hit the spot. We also enjoyed the seaweed salad—it had great flavor and texture. I noticed they were handing out complimentary sake shots, which was a nice touch and added to the vibe. They even had a kids menu, which we took advantage of . I’d definitely come back if I’m in LA again!
I had heard amazing reviews of this place and I'm SO glad we finally tried it for happy hour! Such an amazing deal for really great sushi. We got the bumblebee roll, which paired perfectly with their signature soy sauce. I think we've found our new favorite!
An experience beyond my expectation. After paddle board, we chose a restaurant based on Dine LA map. At first I thought it was just a good Japan cuisine restaurant, like most of Japanese ones. (For context, we are asian, it's safe to say we have plenty experiences in having asian food haha). We ordered 2 2-person combo, $70 each. It starts to amaze me when bluefin tuna sashimi was served, thick cutted, so fresh, the quality is as good as what we had in Tokyo! What touched me later were the rolls. Not only because of the perfect combination of ingredients, (three kinds of sashimi in one roll), but how subtle the chef treated the food. Even the cucumber/celtuce is cutted and shaped for ultimate taste and texture. We ordered four plates of rolls and all of them were served with different sauces, textures. The only pity is that the food is so delicious that I didn't have time to take photos, We ate every last bite of food. One of my friends even scoop the sauce. It's definitely worth the money!
Small restaurant on PCH, with tables and a small sushi bar. The staff is friendly and the items we ordered came out quickly. We ordered the gyoza, white lightening roll and Kyoto kryptonite roll. All delicious and very different from other sushi restaurants. The soy sauce they use is made by the owners wife and has a smoky flavor, different and super tasty. You can buy it by the bottle too. Can't wait to try the Ramen on my next visit.
Very yummy Japanese food. Service is good but there's room for improvement. A bit in the pricey side given that it's not a fancy restaurant but that's just my option. I recommend this restaurant.
Ate here 2 times in one week, the shrimp tempora is absolut perfection or a taste of fried heaven! Go with the sake sampler, it is very fun. I liked 2:3 one was too sweet for my taste but my date drank it. The ginger is excellent, too! Really enjoyed the special sushi. I'm not a fan of white lightning roll, but an interesting concept, very much like scampi as a roll.
Came here with some friends. Tried rolls id never heard of. The presentation was excellent, fresh sushi, a variety of rolls that are new and exciting from typical. Loved the appetizers too. Staff and servers were friendly and accommodating. Food came in timely manner. Priced accordingly. Great environment.
Pretty tasty, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good variety of menu items; everything we had was super delicious and definitely worth every penny. Japonica also has a pretty good happy hour before 6pm (check if on the weekend too).
Despite this place being an American owned sushi place, I will have to say that it was a amazing experience. (FYI I critiquing my food with high expectations so just note that I just have high standard) The server and other runners took care of us and were attentive while we were eating. The server also provided us with recommendations on the rolls. The short grain rice that was used was well-cooked and seasoned which complimented the fish. The bluefin samurai roll had a slight char and freshness which made it 8.5/10. For the Kyoto Kryptonite roll, I have got to say that if you like the crispy tuna, then this is the roll to order because it pretty much tastes like it. 7.5/10. Crispy rice was pretty good, but I just prefer it to have less rice so that I have more of the crunch than the mush from the rice. 6/10 The sushi was fresh and good with the rice. 9/10 Overall, everything was good and will return to try different rolls.
My girlfriend and I came Valentines morning and had the restaurant to ourselves. Sushi was fantastic, some of the best we’ve ever had (reasonable prices too). I didn’t get the host/manager’s name but he was awesome, very attentive and friendly. Do yourself a favor and try the smoked soy sauce! 10/10 would come back again
One word, excellent. Service, food, atomosphere. Excellent. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. Our server Craig was super helpful with suggestions on sushi and sake. Plum sake was a delicious aperitif. Try the White Lightening. TRUST ME you will not be disappointed. It's #1 for a reason. It literally melts in your mouth. The butter sauce is so delicious. The ramen is definitely some of the best I've had a while. Outdoor seating is available. Not too long of a wait. Would highly recommend this place. If you're in the Redondo area, check this place out.

Solid spot for sushi in the South Bay. The ramen wasn’t our favorite, but was impressed but the quality of the sushi. Especially the bluefin samurai roll. You can tell the quality of the fish is top notch. Love that they have a Smokey soy sauce option as well, never seen that at another sushi spot before. Will definitely be back to try more sushi and sashimi !
Yesterday my husband and I went here for dinner. Based on our server Brendon’s recommendations, we ordered several sushi rolls. Edamame, crunchy rice and the Bluefin sushi roll were our favorites. We would like to thank Brendon and Jason— they did a fantastic job. Can’t wait to go back.. Thank you Brendon and Jason

Went here based on reviews I have read online. I tend to like sushi bars with a cool vibe and this place doesn't disappoint. I ordered a roll, some sashimi, and the karage. All were great and the service was excellent. Highly recommend if you are in the South Bay.
This is a hip Japanese place with outdoor seating and heaters. This would have been a 5 star, but kitchen could not get our food out all together, for 6 people. The food was fantastic we had everything from bowl, soup, and sushi. Our waiter was very attentive as possible, the place was packed with a line outside. Our family would surely visit again.
Good taste and good quality sushi Nice menù but can be better . The location is not great there is a kind of smell that I do not like .. The soy sauce that the make ( smoke ) is good
We went there this afternoon and had a nice sidewalk early dinner. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was good, but we were expecting more based on the ratings and the price. I wasn't blown away by anything. That said, we enjoyed the Salmon skin salad, brussel sprouts and the chicken gyoza appetizers. We had three rolls. They were good and had a beautiful presentation, but I wasn't amazed. They were just good. I think I was looking for something more special based on earlier reviews.

Made a reservation for 5:45. Didn’t get seated until 6:30. Granted they were busy, a Saturday night. But a reservation. Never got drink refills. Staff kindness was okay, could’ve been better. We were missing lots of our food. I would not recommend their tantans (ramen) sushi was good though, and their house made smoked soy sauce was to die for.
My daughter liked her food, she ordered ramen and liked it. Noodles were yummy - thick and chewy but they were in fish sauce! As a vegetarian, I didn’t find many options that I liked. Three stars from me because of that. Nice place, good service!

Subpar fusion sushi. Salty, lacking fish flavor. Udon overcooked, lackluster taste and texture. Vague uni flavor. Atmosphere not bad. Server attentive. Overrated.
It was my best friend’s birthday and we came here to have a lunch/ dinner. We were the only black people and were seated last even though we booked a seat before some white guests. We noticed our first host left leaving us with a man who did not give us a fork when asked. Our table didnt even have sauces and we got the worst table in the outside patio. We noticed everyone around us was getting constant service while we were ignored and put last. If you are a POC I do not recommend.
