Pretty good pho that is reasonably priced for $10. Clean environment. I'd eat here again to get my Pho fix.
Excellent food. I’m glad I found this place to fulfill my Pho cravings. This will be my go to from now on. It’s not usually packed which is good for a nice quiet meal.
Great value for good food and the people that run it are super nice. If you want good cheap eats this is a hidden gem on the northeast side
I got the sesame chicken, and my wife got the seafood pho. The chicken was crispy and a little on the sweeter side, and her broth was full of balanced flavor and depth. My rice was a little dry, and her noodles ended up a little overcooked to her liking, but overall had a great experience, and will definitely be returning.
Really enjoyed the pho and service was efficient. We got our food fast and you can’t beat the prices.
I've always been curious about this place since we pass by it after getting groceries. I love Pho, so one day I figured I should give this place a try. I walked in and was greeted with excellent service. I ordered the Chicken Pho and regular Thai Tea (no Boba), all to go. They told me it would be about 10min to get ready, so I sat down in the nearby waiting area. I wasn't in any rush and wasn't keeping track of time, so the speed was of no concern to me... but it definitely felt like it was less than 10min, which was nice. The Chicken Pho was very delicious! With it being ordered to-go, I could put in as much or as little of any of what they provided to me into the broth, which was quite nice. I did add a fair amount of the red sauce they provided to help enhance the flavor and give the Pho a little heat to it, which was wonderful. Usually, when I get Pho, I can never finish it all and eat the remaining amount later, but this time I ate it all! I was craving it more than I thought, I guess, haha! The Thai Tea (no Boba) reminded me of my trip to Thailand with the Thai Tea I had there. It's that good! If any place serves Thai Tea, I will gladly order it because it's my absolute favorite drink now. The fact that the first sip of it put me back in my memories of touring the markets of Ko Kret and buying a cup of Thai Tea from a local there... that's how you know it's good! I highly recommend and definitely look forward to visiting again! :)
This place is a GEM and a family favorite. Our kids love eating here and so do we! We drive an hour from La Vernia to Pho La. Very friendly and family oriented. We have ordered a few different plates and they never disappoint. Prices are very reasonable and good portion size. Love their boba’s !
I love this place for the following reasons: Ice is clear (clean), prices are good, the dining area is clean and uncluttered, and the staff/owner are quick, kind, and attentive. The food is flavorful. I get the grilled shrimp vermicelli($9.99), and it has cilantro, carrots, lettuce, rice noodles, and plenty of shrimp. It tastes clean and healthy. The summer rolls ($4.99) are 2 well sized, with 3 shrimp each. For salt/gluten issues, those 2 are great options for me. Pictured is my tofu pho. So much perfect tofu!!
Very relaxing, pleasant and wonderful experience! I really enjoyed coming here. The location was very clean and the waitresses we're very respectful and nice. I felt comfortable and taken care of very well. The food is good! I loved the effort they put into it and I everything was fresh. The meat was thoroughly cooked and not overdone. The vegetables were good. And their boba teas are satisfactory. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking food a quick bite to eat. I took updated photos for everyone. Definitely a go to place now. Thank you!
If you’re in the Live Oak, Universal City or Converse area and you haven’t tried Pho La, you’re in for a great treat. Especially during the winter time I’d suggest having their seafood pho, it’s just got that Spirit - I always seek out Spirit and Soul when I look for Asian cuisine and by God, it’s here. Not all pho is created equally. This pho is worth having. Great service, great prices, great atmosphere (I’ll always have a place in my heart with seeing the little elephant statues that are in their dining area, because they’re almost identical to statues my mom has 🥲). Try their drunken noodles, summer rolls, and lemongrass chicken too. Wasn’t as crazy about the pad Thai, but it’s good too.
Very nice little place employees were very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing best pho I’ve had in awhile. Only issue was that 2 out of the 3 spoons we got were not cleaned properly but the server was quick to replace it for a clean one.
Pho La is a small restaurant and does not attach many San Antonians, yet those that come are mostly couples. There is nothing extraordinary with the exterior nor the interior. The furniture is basic but clean. Likewise, the restroom is surprisingly clean. The flavors and ingredients are fresh and simple, expect plenty of veggies like broccoli, celery and carrots to fill most of you dish. The pho is on point as well as their stir fry beef noodles. The thia beef drunken noodles were disappointing given that it was not spicy and the noddles were too short to eat with chop sticks. It appears that Pho La is run by three people; however the service is fast and accommodating. I would return if I were in the area!
The price change from lunch to dinner is kind of ridiculous since you pay more for the same SMALL portion of food. Now I'm not looking to feed a village with one plate but the amount could be more generous. As far as flavor goes...it's lacking. Nothing extraordinary.
First time eating here. I ordered the beef and broccoli. Beef was pretty plain and didn't have any flavor. Broccoli was pretty good, wasn't soggy, but was a little overcooked. Restaurant was clean, but the bathroom had a really old and grungy soap bottle that looked like it had been there for years, (I didn't want to even touch it to wash my hands). I also noticed a bug trap in the bathroom which leads me to believe that they might have issues with little critters.
No one really like the food here. We order General chicken, sweet-and-sour chicken, spring rolls, two orders of eggs roll, and two fried rice dishes. The chicken is mostly breading and when you bite into it, it’s rather hard and grease oozing out. We couldn’t finish our meals. The spring rolls are mushy inside, so I’m not even going to bother with the egg rolls. Were disappointed because this place has good reviews, and we’ve been looking for good place to eat that’s in the neighborhood.
