Opiniones de Sugar Plum Coffee Shop Concord
Owner & staff are always friendly. Food is always delicious and large portions. Weekends they offer spectacular specials. Very clean. One of Concord's longest establishments doing business.
A Concord classic. Great service and food.
No issues worth mentioning. Happy with the entire process.
I kid you not my coffee was never half full. I received better service here than some of the finest restaurants in SF. There is no artisanal coffee or avocado toast here and if your looking for vegetarian options your better suited elsewhere. The menu and the the weathered decor is traditional 60's and it's perfect for what this place is. Basic breakfast food, correctly prepared hot and quick to your table. I imagine running an old school diner like this is a challenge in today's business consolidation, fad diet, overpriced, corporate environment but these guys pull it off smartly. Not a single tech bro or tiger mom in sight. You are surrounded by a cross section of California blue collar hold-out's just getting through their morning. No one is overly concerned with you and what your about but it's clear the staff know a number of the regulars here by the personal questions and some even bring their own coffee mugs. The staff are busy but genuinely polite. AMAZINGLY as I type this I am the only one here on there phone! If you want great food served like you're grandfather ate it back in the day for a great price You HAVE to try this place
I love this restaurant my son and I eat here almost every Saturday. Everyone is always warm in welcoming 😊 and the good is delicious. Highly recommended this place. Old school dinner with a great taste
Come for the food, stay for the amazing and welcoming staff. Feels like coming home to visit family every time! You really can't go wrong with anything on their menu
Delicious breakfast and atmosphere topped off with really wonderful service. Everyone working there are nice people and put a smile on your face. Left happier than when I came in.
Food is great & service is friendly. If you're having bkfst. get eggs with their Spanish sauce. Kinda like Chile with no beans only scrumptious! Treat yourself. Prices are reasonable.
Old-style diner I hope never goes away. Joe's Special is really special. Delicious three egg combination of spinach, cheese, onions and ground beef-Mmm! Wonderful, friendly service as well.
My husband and I come here for breakfast whenever we can get a chance to. It's our favorite diner in Concord. We love seeing our favorite waitress Vivienne. Best coffee ever.
This place is part of my community...It's my home. Sugar plum is very mom and pops, and it has that warm, welcoming feeling to it. The crowds are not your trendy types, rather, regulars, and new comers. I have been going there for about 12 years, so my comment may sound bias, but i can assure you will get a hot meal there.
Best customer service as of yet, little mom and pop breakfast place is worth every visit. Words can't explain the food. Why is this the only place that knows how to make breakfast. It is busy and I wish they where open all day. I should give four stars but the food and service are amazing
Fast seating, customer service and a mom and pop style dining. Love this little place and staff, very friendly, diverse and family setting.. always a favorite oldie but goodie. I highly recommend here, great good and served HOT :)
This is a classic diner gem of a restaurant! Service is excellent and fast. They have counter seating, tables, and booths. Classic diner breakfast and lunch, everything tastes amazing! 👏
If you like to dine at a place where the staff greets you and they show that they are happy to see you again at this location!
Beautiful outdoor dining experience it was nice to get out and have some great breakfast. The sweet waitress took great care of us. Thanks for your hard work, great food and hot coffee!
Love the food and all the staff is great! Very friendly and attentive.
I have been going to the sugar plum since 1966 it has always been a great place to eat and share there hearty and friendly meal can't say enough about the place so and enjoy every one I know loves the plum.
I love this place, I come to have breakfast once a week. The staff makes you feel welcome very friendly and nice. The food is good, great amount for the price.
A very enjoyable experience. Food was delicious, the space was clean, wait staff was very friendly, and the food came out quickly. We were waited on by Jamie, who was friendly and efficient.
This team really knows their stuff. Everything went better than expected.
The food here is great and inexpensive, but the service is what stands out. Everyone is friendly and attentive. Great traditional breakfast/lunch place.
Wow there is nothing that you can find that will make you dislike this place, it's just pretty much exactly what you want from a coffee shop. Fantastic service, fantastic food and great parking, kind of hard to come up with anything to say that tops that. I live in Oakley but drove over that day to (also excellent) Concord locksmith across the street. Luckily my dad and I saw the Sugar Plum across the street and was fortunate enough to go in... my Dad gave it the same ratings as me. 👍 BTW, choose the country potatoes with your chicken fried steak... Gravy on the side. You can thank me later 😁
Our favorite breakfast place! We come here around every 10-14 days (we live in Yolo County). Service is fast and super friendly, food is always hot and delicious. In a world full of 21st-century trendy/hipster overpriced mediocrity, Sugar Plum is blessedly mid-20th century old-school excellence. ♥️😊
This place was great. The food was amazing, the chefs cooked the food right there in front of us which came out to be delicious. I had the country fried steak with gravy, eggs, hashbrowns and an english muffin that came with butter already spread onto it. Our waitress was very pleasant and considerit. I only asked for orange juice but she brought me some water too. O not to mention, our food was brought to us in like 5 minutes! I highly recommend this place
Food was very good and the portions were huge. Biscuits and gravy was the best I've had outside of the US south. Staff was friendly and fast. Despite a pretty full house was seated and had our food in under 15 min. Highly recommend.
I’m from outta town and this diner was great! People in the comments say they need to remodel but I think this place has a great vibe. It’s what makes a diner a diner. Like when you age wine or cheese. The food was lightning McQueen fast. The staff was friendlier than a southern baptist. The food was good. Don’t listen to some reviews on here. They have something up their butt or something. Thank you for your time.
My husband and I love this place. It feels warm and welcoming because the wait staff is so gracious and accommodating. The food is traditional diner items. Old fashioned recipes well executed, large portions and reasonable prices are much appreciated!! I usually get the Sugar Plum Special Skillet or the Steak and Eggs. The hubby usually gets the Chicken Fried Steak or Corned-beef Hash. The location is easy to get to and has parking in the back. Inside could use a face lift but we wouldn't want it to loose its old-fashioned charm.
I seriously think the number one classic diner I’ve ever been to! What stuck out to me besides how fast the food came or how yummy is the corn beef hash was, But was the fact that all the employees seem to know the people that came in and everybody was friendly and genuinely in conversation catching up on life stuff. We all could use some good American folks like this. Thanks Claudia for carrying on the 60 year tradition! Vote with your spending dollars people
Old time great local coffee shop in Concord! I've been going here since I was little. They have great food and prices are reasonable. I love that they make their own potatoes, hash browns and country, from real potatoes cooked at the restaurant, Not the frozen stuff! I can always get a great homemade meal here and staff is very friendly and efficient.
Went for breakfast off of recommendation from next door they are exactly as described wonderful place for breakfast we had two eggs home fries with green peppers and onions and bacon they do give you a plenty of bacon which is more than any restaurant I've ever had for breakfast
Sugar Plum represents what all cafes should strive for: Good food and great service while hustling to get your food quickly. Go for breakfast or lunch as you will not be disappointed. It’s understandable why they’ve survived and have been in business for so long!
This is another institution of Donwtown Concord. I wake up with craving for their chicken fried steak. The prices are super-reasonable and everything is great on the menu. Everybody is really friendly and the architecture is straight from the 50's. Great place to bring the family.
Quick clean and delicious breakfast spot. Food came quickly and tasted very good. The staff was friendly and attentive checking in enough times without hovering. Will make it a go to for weekend breakfast
All the staff were very nice. Had the feeling of an old diner. The food was very good and the portions were good size. It's not a large restaurant like a Denny's so expect to wait a little for a table. I had the pork chop and scrambled eggs. The eggs were cooked perfectly. We'll be back again. We were fortunate and easily got a parking space in front. Our friends just parked in the lot behind it.
Our servers were equal parts fast and friendly. The diner itself is a blast from the past (super cute old Americana). The food is very good. We ordered the Joe's Breakfast (ground beef, spinach, mushrooms, eggs) it was quite delicious. I would also recommend the french toast, the pancakes and the biscuits. The eggs benedict were not my favorite because the the ham and the sauce didn't provide the salty crispy flavor and texture that I prefer. That being said, I ate it all! They are also very kid friendly. I would recommend and we will certainly be back.
My mother Betty use to work at this place back in the 60's. I'd love to go there again if I ever get back to Concord.
Old school diner, looks and feel, great portion sizes of amazing food! The Chicken Fried steak, the Biscuits and Gravy are some of the best I've ever had!! The service is from another era, friendly, nice, and attentive!!
Great location with very easy access to parking. I had breakfast, and the service was delightful! The menu offers something for everyone with lots of choices. The portions are generous, and the food was served quickly. I ordered eggs, sausage, and the country potatoes. It was delicious.
This place has been there for ever. Prices are getting high but that's everywhere . Same old school vibe. I go there whenever I am in Concord.
Amazing food and service. Never disappoints.
This place has been around since my childhood. Great food and such a cute atmosphere. Grabbed a sandwich and some fries. It is like walking into a time warp. Friendly staff and quick service. Support local businesses!
Classic diner with long countertop service and lots of booths. Never had a bad meal here
First time having breakfast and the menu was easy to read, prices are fair and the food is so worth it. I love the open kitchen concept and if you sit in the counter area you can see food being made. Its a collaborative effort to feed everyone. Coffee is decent and service was great. We had the best breakfast and best time.
Great old diner, friendly service and good food. It’s small so there was a small wait but I have no complaints. Definitely not somewhere you’d want to bring a party larger than 4. They have a large counter for seating.
What a gem; Claudia and her crew provide a hometown atmosphere. The food, customer service and prices are exceptional.
One of our go to breakfast spots. The owner is super nice and you can find her working alongside employees often. Parking can sometimes be tight so go earlier. This is because people who eat here are die hard loyalists to the spot. Support your local small restaurants.
I like sitting at the counter because I can see them making the food. I like the variety of items on the menu, I think the prices are fair, and I like that it's been around forever!
Excellent hamburger served and cooked as ordered. Hot pastrami was very good. Cole slaw cut chunky style with plenty of dressing.
We went here specifically for the biscuits and gravy. I'm a real big fan of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were fantastic and the gravy. The down part was the sausage in the gravy. First there was only one. The waitress was kind to bring me some more. They were very small cut. I feel they could have used some bigger pieces I prefer that the taste better. Overall I was rated an 8.3.
I really like this place. The good is pretty decent, the service is great, super friendly and always checking what you need. Clean and nice atmosphere. The price is also very good.
This place has delivered consistently great food for years. The service is always top-notch, and the breakfasts never disappoint. The breakfast burrito is a standout—especially when paired with their incredible homemade salsa, which is so good they even sell it by the pint. This is a weekly spot for me.
I've ate breakfast here dozens of times and never disappointed! My go to plate is the California Omelette with a glass of milk! My hash browns were cooked perfect slightly crunchy on top golden brown not burnt with a moist and soft inside. Omelette was delicious and flavorful and rhe prices are more than reasonable. Kids menu is also available. They have two person tables, booths, as well as a counter you can dine at. They also have a four person tables which is perfect for wheelchair accessible diners! Staff were super nice and service was great! Don't sleep on this place its a well known local spot in Concord!
Clam chowder Fridays, home made biscuits and gravy, burgers, sandwiches, all breakfasts..so darn good!!! Inexpensive with great service!!! Old diner atmosphere, you want glitz and frills, or good food!!?? Been going here for over 30 years...still awesome..family tradition passing into 3rd generation.
Very warm and welcoming diner. Perfect for a quick hardy breakfast. Service is prompt and pleasant. Food was good, pricing very affordable. Great place for small groups or families.
Love going here. To be honest, gotta know what to order. The Ruben is awesome, dinner salad fresh. This place is busy, so don't expect a quick lunch. If the had more booths, or more comfortable seats I'd go higher, but seating very uncomfortable, no AC either, which can be annoying on hotter days, but not usually.
I grew up with this tiny hole in the wall coffee shop. It might not look like much from the outside, but the wait to get a table should tell you something. They are kind, quick, and tickle your taste buds. I will love the food, atmosphere, and effort that they put into this place. When I want a really good hearty breakfast this is where I come. The prices, service, and food really keep me coming back.
Great spot for breakfast, popular with locals, and one of the last standing dinners in town.
The establishment is a quaint eatery that has been here forever. This was my first time ever going. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good. The service was on point. I recommend this place for breakfast aficionados such as myself.
It's good enough to be a regular spot. it's a chill spot if you like being loud and annoying goto Dennys this spot is for mature folk. clean,Tasty and good severice
Haven’t been in a while so thought I’d head back for breakfast. Busy as usual which is great to see. Eggs Benedict was over sauced with hollandaise sauce so you missed all the flavors. Hash browns I asked for well and the top was crispy and the bottom was soggy potatoes. Not the best experience this visit but now I know what not to get next time. Other than that staff always incredibly friendly and sweet.
The waitress was good but she ignored us a lot at the time never offered to freshen up my coffee or my friend's beverages we asked for a side of something and after 10 minutes it still hadn't come so I physically got up when I got it myself off accounter on the other side of the building. The food was perfect mine got a little cold before I got what I needed so I was a little bit disappointed but that's not the cook's fault my eggs were scrambled perfectly my bacon was cooked perfectly.
Homey old style breakfast place. Food was good and prices were reasonable. It was fairly busy for a weekday morning but the wait staff was attentive and the food came out quickly. The home made hashbrowns were particularly good.
I had breakfast with a friend and the service was amazing. I had the scrambled eggs with bacon, hash browns, sourdough toast and coffee. It was a bit pricey for a simple breakfast ($40 for two people plus tip of course) but it is not the restaurants fault. I would come back to try other items, but not as quickly as I would like.
Cute little breakfast spot. The servers were so friendly and attentive! The biscuits and gravy were even better. I gave a 4 instead of a 5 just because it is a little loud and busy for a morning meal. Will come back!
I had the sausage breakfast with potatoes and bread toast. I thought the bread was sourdough bread, but it’s not what i expected to be. Maybe it’s just a loaf bread that tasted like sourdough. 🫤 Overall, the food is great. My mom and her boyfriend lived here and they’re almost like regulars here since one server already knew what my mom’s boyfriend’s going to get. 😆
We shared eggs benedict in a nice little diner. Lots of the food looked great. We decided to share something & agreed on a Benedict. Nice homemade(?) Hollandaise and eggs cooked perfectly. However, the homefries that were hyped on the menu were just ok. Not really anything different about them. There were a few pieces of bell pepper, but I ended up asking for hashbrowns as well, which were a bit greasy. Overall, a cute little diner, a place we would try again. But this meal was honestly for me a 3 out of 5.
Very greasy which is typical for a diner, but the salad was brown on every piece of lettuce and the tomato was bad. The older lady never asked how the food was and never gave us water but gave us the ticket without saying anything. So I sent it back and got a good salad when a younger girl with dark hair refilled our water and was very nice.
Food was just ok. Waitress was not friendly. They do not serve the whole table together. Just me and a friend, and their Biscuits and gravy came out in about 30 seconds (the time it takes to plate it) and my food hadn’t even hit the grill yet. She was done eating by the time my french toast came out. We got a quick “anything else?” and then the check on the table without another word. The french toast was bland, the ketchup is nasty, and the biscuits and gravy was more like a layer of soggy bread with an entire bowl of gravy on top. I saw no biscuits. The fries were good though. The place was hot and sticky at 8 in the morning, and people were sweeping and clanging high chairs right next to us. There are much better options in this area, one of which being staying home.
I came in very excited to try this cafe and was immediately disappointed. As we walked in, no one acknowledged us. We waited since they had a sign that stated “please wait to be seated”. Many workers saw us and said nothing. Customer service set the mood for the rest of breakfast. We finally ended up just seating our selves and staring them down to bring a menu. Food was alright nothing too special, no ice coffee, mooshy has browns, and slightly burnt toast.
Biscuits and gravy were not the best outside of the south as another poster said. They were maybe a 5/10 at best. My server was incredibly slow, I could see her the whole time and she took 10 minutes to get to me.
I got the blueberry pancake and house made hash brown. unfortunately, you can taste the baking soda or baking powder used in the pancake, I like the crispiness and fluffiness. the hash brown was salt less, but still good!
it's ok,over all ,but looking for a bit better quality of food ,i know it's a popular spot and like to support local spots, for my wife and i ,we felt food prep, and taste wasn't at it's best,
The waitress that was serving my table was an absolute gem! She was kind and helpful. Well the sign outside said that vaccination cards were required, I witnessed several people walk in and sit down without showing any proof. The staff was fully masked and the patrons coming in and out seemed to be diligent about their masks also. The eggs and the Cajun sausage were mediocre. Hash browns were fine. The biscuits and gravy even though it was listed under "our specialty" on the menu showed no inspired thought seems to have come directly out of a can. In short if you're looking for a simple diner for a relatively quick bite and you don't expect much. You'll likely be okay with a spot.
Unimpressed. The pancakes were kinda tough and the huevos rancheros were swimming in sauce. Coffee was also disappointing.
Im disapointed a new owner took over the business . I’ve been coming here for over 30 years. I just had a neck fusion and recovering from operation. I came in to eat because I was hungry and I’ve always come here.. over to my booth and says can I move because she has a party of three and she wanted to move me to a party where it’s too I said is it a booth she said no it’s a chair. I said OK then I can’t do it because of my neck and she just looked and I said OK you can have it and I got up and walked out said that I’m disabled and had surgery and now this at one of my favorite restaurants
I don't like to give negative reviews but I have to say that when I came here on a Sunday to eat, I was rudely turned away. Though I was 25 minutes from closing at 1pm, all the doors were locked and all the signs said "Closed". There were still people eating but alas, they had no time for me. Evidently The Sugar Plum owners have too much money and don't need any more. You need to know what business you're in guys. I won't be back. Ever.
I just to love this place but i was here with my 2 kids and i think this is now a no kids restaurant or mayve the waitress doesn’t like kids but never coming back
Yelp states outdoor seating/service available but on arrival curtly told no outside seating. We travel with a small dog so rely on accurate postings. Bad info on this restaurant.
Went in with my wife to eat ordered 2 simple breakfasts and was very disappointed with quality wife had omelete and potatoes both very overcooked i ordered pancakes and eggs with sausage the pancakes and sausage very overcooked they made mistake with egg then had me wait 5 mins for new one when it came was undercooked Wait staff seems oblivious to condition of food they are serving
(The Good)I was seated at the crowded counter right in front of the grill. So I decided rather than eating there, I'd get my food to go. Waitress who came over was very nice and took my order quickly. I sat and watched the chef pump out order after order...... (The Bad) I watched cooks and waitresses handling food, opening doors , handling items without washing hands or wearing gloves. But the deal breaker was when the taller cook took ground beef formed a pattie, and pressed raw onion on top with his bare hands. Didn't wash his hands before or after. By this time my food was ready but I didn't want to get sick so I told 2 of the waitresses about what I just saw and refused the food. To the staff, implement cross contamination training, frequent handwashing and gloves. The food looked great but not worth getting sick.
They discriminated my family for having a baby made us wait a long time for a table where they could place a high chair for babies cause it will be o the way get a bigger location then they were trying to tell us to leave cause high chair was no where to be placed awful then they waitress once seated made us wait another whole life before she came to take order don’t know her name but it’s the lady with light brown/honey eyes she was way to rude almost throwing everything’s to us plates napkins very rude . Overall horrible experience !
