This is one of my favourite pizzerias and most surely the best deep pan pizzeria I have ever been to, so far. And I have been to many pizzerias. Also, deep pan pizza is usually not my favourite unless it is from Luna Rossa. The quality and taste of the product are what matters the most if you go here, more than the atmosphere. With that said, this is a place of locals in a local neighbourhood, so it is very authentic after all, just not touristy at all. Expect basic service with no pretences, and their regular excellent pizza recipe, which I had tasted numerous times and every time always with great enjoyment! One of my favourite pizza slices is the "abbondante with carciofi and spianata calabrese" (i.e., the quarter pan pizza slice topped with olive oil artichokes and hot spicy salami -pictured) which I also love in a variant with "melanzane sott'olio" (ie., aubergines in olive oil) instead of artichokes. It is so surprising how easily digestible a quarter of a pan pizza slice can actually be! Further, I love the pizza from Lusa Rossa, even to be eaten cold the following morning at breakfast! [When I lived in Scotland, smoked salmon was great for breakfast, so it makes perfect sense to have cold pizza🍕 for breakfast in Italy, with a cappuccino or latte☕️, of course]. Note that this place tends to get superbusy, like very, very busy, so busy they do not take reservations unless you are in a very large group. It's better to go on a weekday evening (rather than during the weekend) if you want to avoid the crowds, but still, you may need to wait some time before being seated. Can take drinks from the counter ahead of being seated, though.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Luna Rossa. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive, food was amazing, best pizzas in Milan, maybe in Italy in this style, special mention to Iris at the cashier and Mattia who runs the place, I came from Zurich and brought my boyfriend from Bologna here, this is an experience worth traveling for!! Also, bare in mind if it's full, there will be some waiting but it will be totally worth it!! #teamwilltravelforfood
